* SilentAntagonist: He doesn't speak at all in the original game and throughout most of ''Unmasked'', his only communication being a creepy EvilLaugh. However, in the interrogation epilogue, he is all too happy to confess his motives for his murders to the police.
* StrangerBehindTheMask: In the original game, the identity of Turtle Head is the principal's son, a character who is never mentioned until the true ending when the reveal happens. The sequel downplays this in that he is mentioned twice in Marina's diary before being revealed as the killer, but he is still someone unknown to Harriet and Emma.

* {{Yandere}}: He fell for art teacher Marina Lily and sought to gain her love by comforting her in times of need, helping her prepare a gift for her cousin Harriet, [[BreadEggsMilkSquick and]] abducting a disruptive, delinquent student of hers and her best friend to torture and kill them. Then when she rejected him for being crazy, he [[IfICantHaveYou killed her too]].

** While Mason seems snarky and disinterested at first, that's just an act; his true personality shows when he's rescuing Kay where he's calm, kind, and tries to make her feel safe, during the epilogue where she gives her testimony to him, Mason offers to let Kay take a break when he notices that she's getting very upset over Blair's death. And in ''Emma's Story'', he gives Emma his therapist fiancé's number so she can recover from the trauma she went through.

** Also during his interrogation in the epilogue, Simon tries to make Mason understand that he was "forced" to kill Marina due to her rejection of him. When Mason tells him he has a fiance, Simon is jealous and claims that he "doesn't understand true rejection".

* PoliticallyIncorrectVillain: His behavior when interrogated at the police station, including talking about both Marina and Mason's fiancé as if they were objects to "get" and barking sexist orders at Mason's assistant, doesn't paint a very flattering picture.

* BoundAndGagged: Emma finds her in this condition in the school auditorium, having been put like that by Turtle Head.

* TheParanoiac: She becomes paranoid that the killer will target her in Ending 2, Paranoia, to the point she commits suicide by drowning.
* TragicKeepsake: Starts using Emma's ribbon after she's killed in ''Unmasked'' Ending 1: Harriet All Alone.

A law enforcement officer who works with Mason. She's implied to be the one who answer's Mason's phone call.

* HeManWomanHater: It's hinted Simon becomes this after being rejected by Marina, as he's more violent in his pursuit of Harriet and Emma. He's also hostile to the female police officer during his interrogation in the epilogue.

* AllThereInTheManual: Her name is only shown in the post-game bonus room.

The principal of Smithlane High School. A seemingly reasonable man, he tried to protect his students from the Turtle Head killer and see to it that they are safe. In truth, he was far more interested in protecting the killer, who is his son.

* BetterToDieThanBeKilled: [[spoiler:In ''Remastered'', she decides she'd rather go down swinging and confronts Turtle Head in a fight to try and save her and Kay. She failed.]]

* SerialKiller: Initially, he limited himself to pets, of which the trio find plenty of corpses in the old school building. But he eventually graduated to humans with Blair, Marina, and Tian, and depending on the ending can succeed in killing the main trio as well.

* EvilCounterpart: To Mason. Both are reasonable adults who want to help a shy and socially awkward minor. But while Mason genuinely cared for the safety of others, Kurtis cared mostly about the school's reputation. Also, while Kurtis enabled Simon's murders, which helps the killings go further for a long time; Mason tried to be a supporting friend to Harriet, to the point she abandoned most of her suicidal ideas.

* DrivenToSuicide: In the past, after having been bullied by Blair, StoodUp by Emma, and her beloved cousin Marina vanishing, she decided she could not take it anymore and tried to drown herself. Thankfully, she was saved and began receiving therapy afterwards. However, in ''Unmasked'' Ending 2: Paranoia, it is implied that after losing Emma and Mason, she goes home and does it again, succeeding this time.
