* AdaptationPersonalityChange: While most of the characters take certain personality traits that were already present and exaggerate them to comedic levels, John Silver's personality stands out for being almost the entire opposite of his book counterpart, as well as most other adaptations. In the book, Silver was AffablyEvil, being charming, boisterous, seemed to genuinely like Jim, and was likeable enough that despite everything he put Jim through, the latter still ended up wishing him well after his escape (albeit since he thinks Silver won't have a happy afterlife). Here, while Silver keeps Jim alive, it comes across as more of a pragmatic decision than something borne from genuine fondness for the boy, and he ''never'' raises his voice, even when [[SoftSpokenSadist threatening others with violence.]]
