The titular female main characters of the story. Despite their different hairstyles, hair colors, and personalities, they're experts at impersonating each other and often do so, either for pranks or their own convenience. They also follow the "Five Equal Parts" philosophy, which is taught by their late mother, and despite having horrible grades and no motivation to study, they can be honorable and appreciative at Fuutarou's work and dedication towards them.

* OppositesAttract: [[spoiler:Personality-wise, anyway. Fuutarou, who is reserved, socially awkward, physically weak, and very intelligent, eventually falls in love with Yotsuba, who is cheerful, extroverted, physically strong, and not so intelligent.]]

** [[spoiler: To make it worse, it's later revealed she feels unworthy of pursuing the guy she's loved for years, Fuutarou, because he was able to keep their childhood promise to become great at academics while she failed miserably.]] This is pointed to in the Volume 10 cover, which shows Yotsuba using her fingers to pull her face into a painfully fake smile.

** In Chapter 72 her classmates rumor whether she is going out with her fellow class representative, Fuutarou. When she brings the rumor up to Fuutarou, he mentions that he can no longer ridicule other people's feelings of love, but immediately rejects the idea that he could be in love with Yotsuba. When Yotsuba's classmates directly ask her about her relationship with Fuutarou, she drops her usual {{keigo}} and repeats what Fuutarou said to her, all with a sad smile on her face. Considering in Chapter 90, [[spoiler:it's revealed that she was the girl Fuutarou met in Kyoto five years prior, and that she has loved him since that day, it's obvious how hurt she was, when she rejected the idea that she and Fuutarou could be together.]]

* {{Keigo}}: She always speaks in polite forms, adding to her strait-laced demeanor. This seems to be an aspect of trying to act more like their mother after her death, as she speaks more casually while [[spoiler:disguised as Rena, which according to Yotsuba is much more like the "old" Itsuki]].

* ImportantHaircut: In Chapter 46, after her heart to heart with Miku, she decides it is now the time for her to say goodbye to the past and prompts Miku to cut her hair.

* StrawHypocrite: He lambasts Maruo as a neglectful father, but considering the fact that he abandoned Rena before the quintuplets were born, he doesn't hold the higher moral ground in this case. And while it's true that Maruo is neglectful, it can't be denied that he provides the quintuplets shelter and the opportunity to stick together after their mother died as a way of respecting his former teacher, something that Mudou never did to Rena back when she was his student. It certainly didn't help Mudou's case when he fell for Miku's disguise as Itsuki, which Maruo saw through right away.

* ParentsAsPeople: Downplayed. He means well with his stepdaughters and does what (he thinks) is best for them, but there's no denying he's too distant and rarely (if ever) displays affection towards them.

* WhatIsThisThingYouCallLove: When the quintuplets try to think of a way to reward Fuutarou for tutoring them, all of them other than Yotsuba immediately think about kissing him. Yotsuba instead thinks about giving him a medal, and is highly confused about why the rest of the quintuplets are getting flustered. [[spoiler:In hindsight, this was probably a RedHerring]]. Ironically, in trying to get some cream off of his face, Yotsuba accidentally ends up kissing his cheek and plays it off as a way to reward Fuutarou for tutoring them.

However in Chapter 100 when Fuutarou was hanging out with Takebayashi, Yotsuba was trying to calm Miku down from hastily acting on her jealousy. Once Takebayashi starts to talk about how close she is to Fuutarou to Nino and Itsuki, it's Yotsuba, not Miku, who jumps in saying that she's the one closest to Fuutarou, before Itsuki interrupts and none of them actually hears what Yotsuba says. Miku however saw her do this but Yotsuba runs off before Miku has a chance to ask.]]

To that end, his father tries to get him to cheat on the national mock exams and obtain favorable results by giving him the answer key. However, he [[WhatYouAreInTheDark refuses to cheat]] and manages to score eighth place nationally. Maruo is impressed enough by this to offer him the job anyway, but as he has ambitions of becoming an astronaut instead, he politely turns it down..

* BigSisterBully: Often stole snacks and stickers from her younger sisters as a child. She grew out of it.

* HeavySleeper: She is one, likely due to the amount of sleeping she does.

* UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom: A downplayed example, but when the quintuplets were children, Yotsuba decided to try distinguishing herself from her sisters by wearing a hair ribbon like the ones she commonly dons as a teenager. This caused the quintuplets' grandfather to falsely think that Yotsuba wanted to look different because she wasn't getting along with her sisters, eventually stressing him out and causing him to collapse. From that point on, the quintuplets took to dressing identically when in his presence, assuming Itsuki's appearance to do so.

* BoyishShortHair: Has the shortest hair out of her sisters.

* PeekABangs: Her hair is styled covering her right eye.

* AdaptationalHairstyleChange: In the manga, all of the quintuplets' hair is the same color, but in the anime adaption, each one has a different color, most likely so viewers could easily tell them apart. It's implied that they each could have dyed it a different color when it's shown in the anime that they all had the same color in the past. The hairstyles and lengths for each girl is more plot-centric and is relatively the same between both versions and changes when the time comes.

* PeekABangs: Her hair covers her right eye. In this case, it's the "shy and demure" variant. At one point it's lampshaded by Nino, when Ichika tries to fix Itsuki's hair to look like Miku's, Nino points out that she did it wrong (covering the left eye instead).
