Granted, Korra wasn't in top condition, but Kuvira was still able to curb-stomp her with her earth and metal-bending, and ''dodged every single attack'' from the avatar. During the entirety of the fight, Kuvira wears a smile on her face, and it is pretty obvious that Korra is no challenge to her and that she is merely toying with her. It is only when Korra entered the avatar state that Kuvira got hit... Sadly, Korra wasn't able to maintain it, and Kuvira took that chance to neutralize Korra. In fact, had not Opal and Jinora intervened, Kuvira would have executed Korra on the spot with metal-bended sharp blades.
