* LockDown: During season 10, he got detained at customs in Ukraine for over ten hours in an impenetrable room with a bunch of guards who didn’t speak English. He gave them his New Zealand passport rather than his American one because he had been told he wouldn’t need a visa if he was using the latter. He had his American passport in his checked luggage and the misunderstanding about him traveling with a bunch of Americans spiraled from there. Luckily, a woman working at the US consulate in Kiev was a fan of the show and printed him a new passport. He made it back in time to do the arrivals with ten minutes to spare.

Tropes were cut/disambiguated due to cleanup

* CatchPhrase: Several, including "The last to check in may/''will'' be eliminated" and some variant of "You're the last team to arrive. I'm sorry to tell you you've been EliminatedFromTheRace", at Pit Stops, and "fell by the wayside," in recaps.
** He used to have several in regards to explaining the tasks, such as,"A Roadblock is a task only one team member can perform," and "A Detour is a choice between two tasks, each with its own pro and cons," though as the exposition was cut down, these stopped being used.

* CatchPhrase

* CatchPhrase: The same as Phil, though by the second season he had made them his own.

* CatchPhrase: Unlike other hosts, he goes "You are the ____ team to arrive..." rather than the standard "You're team number..." You can also tell whether he's delivering a non-elimination or an elimination because he swiftly follows it up with "...however, this is a predetermined non-elimination leg, you're safe" or "...and you have been eliminated", respectively, so if he engages in banter at the mat with a team that arrives last, you can be sure this team has a non-elimination. Also, he has to explain the Roadblock, Detour etc. due to the show's time off the air.

* CatchPhrase

* TheLastOfTheseIsNotLikeTheOthers: Grant and Beau, in the vein of Phil, are blonde men but Scott is brunette.

* CatchPhrase: He actually used the Roadblock and Detour Catch Phrases long abandoned by Phil.
