* HonorBeforeReason: Giving back Chris' half-idol at the Final Five, which provided Chris the last boost he needed to survive until the Final Four Firemaking Challenge. Rick felt so guilty about blindsiding Chris in the tribal portion of the game that, after reconciling on the Edge, [Rick promised Chris](https://www.realitytvworld.com/news/exclusive-rick-devens-talks-survivor----i-thought-id-damage-chris-underwood-long-term-if-i-kept-his-idol-but-now-i-wish-id-screwed-him-over-25876.php) that he would never turn on him if they both made it back into the game.

* DecoyProtagonist: A very late game example, but Rick was set up as the frontrunner to win it all going into the merge, only for Chris to suddenly come in and do everything he was doing but better, causing Rick's ouster at Final Four.

* EarnYourHappyEnding: The original Manu tribe members suffered greatly in the tribal portion of the game, as every pre-merge boot aside from Aubrey came from their original ranks. Things ultimately turned around when both of the Edge returnees ended up coming from their tribe, including the eventual winner and the fallen angel (the latter of whom would've won if he hadn't lost in the firemaking challenge).

* TakingYouWithMe: A failed case. After getting voted out, she made an excited show of support for Gavin, saying that she'd be voting for him in the Final 3. As she revealed afterwards, this was actually a form of revenge because she realized that Gavin hadn't voted with her in the way they had agreed (since she was the only person who wrote Chris' name down) and, assuming Gavin betrayed her in some way, wanted to put a target on his back and make him a target for the next vote. It didn't work, though she did end up voting for Chris as the winner at FTC instead of him.

* OutOfFocus: So far, he's been almost entirely in the background.

* SanitySlippage: The pressure of the game is causing her to collapse emotionally.

* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: Despite his previous losing performance and being voted out because he wasn't as strong as Lauren, Rick still managed to beat out five other contestants, including the athletic Chris, and earn his way back from Edge of Extinction.

* ChronicBackstabbingDisorder: The one person he was loyal to was Julie. Now that he's gone, both Rick and Julie are on the bottom of the so-called "goats".

* GracefulLoser: Despite claims of being a SoreLoser he holds no animousity towards the girls who got him out or Devens who played the idol.

** This happened with Kelley Wentworth too. Wardog pretended to be her shield, but when he realized there was no tribe alliances anymore, he quickly severed ties with both Wentworth and David. Time will tell if he's seen as a great strategic player, or a jury goat though.

* DragonInChief: Has dictated almost all of his tribe's votes so far, but his focus is definitely protecting Wentworth.

* FauxActionGuy: Wardog is a muscular and athletic man who served in the army - yet his challenge performance is absolutely ''abysmal'', unless the challenge involved swimming. The only times he ever won was due to David and Kelley being good with puzzles, and being in a group with actual strong players.

* LazyBum: An interesting example in that according to his tribemates, Wardog spends all of his time scheming rather than helping out around camp.

* MusclesAreMeaningless: Despite being one of the more physically fit men in the game and being former military he is extremely bad at physical challenges, particularly throwing ones.This is contrasted in the early game when he tried to throw others under the bus with the excuse of challenge strength when he was one of the worse performers.
** Though he did have two very good challenge performances in challenges that involved swimming. In the immunity challenge in episode 3, he was practically towing the boat by himself. In episode 5, he was the hero when he dove down and got the piece of the last piece of the puzzle after his other tribemates have all but given up and allowed them to have a come from behind victory.

* TheStarscream: You knew it was coming the second David left... He pulls a YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness move on Kelley tricking her into thinking she was safe... and then backstabbing her with her own alliance.

* TookALevelInBadass: While Wardog's social game before wasn't bad per se, it was the move of forming an alliance of 6 to get both David and Wentworth out, one after the other that really propelled his gameplay.

* LastOfHerKind: Was the last returnee left in the game, after David's blindside. Depending on when the Edge of Extinction's battle back challenge happens, this might be subverted.

* ObfuscatingStupidity: Acts dense and WrongGenreSavvy which betrays a very a very cold and calculating woman.

* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: Bonus points for starting on the blue Manu tribe.

* BaldOfAwesome: He's bald and also a skilled physical and strategic player.
** Except the show makes a point to show how completely awful Wardog is at every challenge.

* BadassMustache: One he affectionately refers to as "The Halladay," as in Doc Halladay.

* {{Adorkable}}: Upon learning she can go back to the Edge of Extinction rather than elimination, she cheers so cutely.

* AntiHero: Wardog is a ruthless schemer and manipulator, but a lot of his gameplay has revolved around his loyalty to Wentworth. Now, he's more of an AntiVillain or TheStarscream having gotten the votes to evict the remaining two returning players.
