* TokenEvilTeammate: Even before his FaceHeelTurn, it's heavily implied Mandarin was already malicious and sadistic when he was still a member of the Hyperforce. The biggest hint is that he tortured Nova by nearly freezing her alive under the pretense of "training" her. Also, back when the robot monkeys were normal monkeys, Sprx and Nova were shown to be afraid of Mandarin because of his angry and mean behavior.

* StaringDownCthulhu: Back as a normal monkey, he was the only one who was not cowering in fear of the Dark Ones displayed on screen (his face being one of revulsion, fascinated disgust and shock.)

* BackFromTheDead: In the Season Two finale, he sacrifices his life to prevent the Dark One Worm destroys Shuggazoom. At the beginning of Season Three, it's revealed that his soul was just hidden within Chiro's body until Chiro could find a way to bring him back; Antauri eventually returns by transferring his soul to the body of the Silver Monkey.

** Mark Hamill would later go on to ''voice'' Skeletor himself in ''WesternAnimation/MastersOfTheUniverseRevelation''.

* HeroesWantRedheads: He's immediately smitten with Jinmay, who has pink hair.

* LoveAtFirstSight: He falls for Jinmay immediately during their first meeting.

* BlueMeansSmartOne: Gibson is the blue robot monkey. Appropriately, he's the team's science officer and the most logical member.

* BrainwashedAndCrazy: In "Thingy", he gets infected by a virus created by Skeleton King, causing him to turn evil and monstrous.

* EvilCostumeSwitch: In "The Hills Have Five", she briefly changes into a black biker outfit when she's [[BrainwashedAndCrazy brainwashed by the villain of the episode]].

TheTeam agrees to help her with this, and the timing couldn't have been better, because his next target is Shuggazoom.

* AnimeHair: She has a quite exotic haircut.

* PointyEars: She's an alien that has pointy ears like an elf.
* RedheadInGreen: She has auburn hair and wears a green form-fitting outfit.

* SecretIdentity: The wealthy Billionaire Playboy industrialist Clayton Carrington.

* ColdHam: In the Swedish and Italian dubs he for the most part speaks in a very low tone. Even his laugh is more of an evil chuckle instead of an all-out EvilLaugh.

* BrokenPedestal: For the whole of the Monkey Team because of his betrayal, but probably the most for Otto, who used to be the closest to him.

* EvilCounterpart: To Antauri. They've both got the whole "mentor" thing going on, except Mandarin's- well, [[EvilMentor evil]].

* {{Pride}}: Defining character trait, second only (if that) to his ruthlessness.

* HornedHumanoid: She has horns on her head.

* ArchEnemy: He is the most intimidating adversary to the Hyperforce and their comrades. But most peronally, to Chiro, and wants to destroy everything that is dearest to him.

* DefrostingIceKing: Antauri remains quite distant to Chiro and doesn't morally support him in the first season. While he most often reassures the others to trust in their leader, he shows moments of doubts, like in the episode "Secret of the Sixth Monkey". He grows closer to Chiro in the second season, while Chiro actively seeks out his advice and confides in him about his worries by this point. They develop a close parent-child relationship from then on.

* WolverineClaws: Giant monkey claws made of energy no less.

* MadeASlave: They say a monster enslaved them. Subverted since they're lying and the "monster" is actually their father who won't let go have fun outside.

* MaybeEverAfter: In the Season Four finale, [[spoiler:Nova finally confesses her feelings for Sprx and kisses him on the cheek, but it's left up in the air whether they actually become a couple since the Skeleton King's return kept Sprx from even thinking about giving Nova a proper answer at the moment. At least, there's little doubt they're now both aware their romantic feelings are mutual.]]

* CannotTellAJoke: His rare attempts at jokes usually fall flat.

* TraumaCongaLine: She goes through a ''lot'' in the Season Four finale. Sprx turns evil, he attacks her and her friends, she's forced to fight him, he takes her as hostage and [[ElectricTorture tortures]] her by tearing her apart with his magnets. She probably would have broken down if he didn't return to normal [[spoiler:after her love confession]].

* VocalDissonance: Creator/TomKenny's obviously adult voice sounds really weird in a child character like Johnny.

* TrainingThePeacefulVillagers: Even the setting has Japanese touches, and the villagers dress as ninjas, while Chiro wears a samurai armor.

* HerosEvilPredecessor: He was originally the leader of the Hyperforce before Chiro, but the team had to get rid of him because he betrayed them for Skeleton King.

* TVHeadRobot: As its name indicates, it's a robot with a TV screen. Its the main purpose is to act as a communicator and transmitter for Skeleton King.

* ShapeshiftingSquick: Sprx is smitten when Wigglenog comes on to him in mermaid form. After Wigglenog reveals his true form as a goblin-like genie, Sprx looks disgusted, ''especially'' since the Wigglenog [[AlmostKiss almost kissed him]].

* TheChooserOfTheOne: They chose Valeena to be Skeleton King's temporary successor and is the reason she became as evil as she is.

* TheCorrupter: They can corrupt planets into {{Death World}}s and corrupt people into villains.

* {{Gonk}}: She has an ugly face and bad teeth.

* HotInHumanForm: They take the form of very pretty human girls, but their true forms look like ugly octopus-like cyclops.
* MadeASlave: They say a monster enslaved them. They're lying.

* BlackBeadEyes: His human firm has black dot for eyes, which is weird since most characters have BigAnimeEyes.

* {{Cyborg}}: All of the monkeys are actually cyborgs. From Season 3, however, Antauri is the exception, after his soul is transferred into the completely robotic Silver Monkey.

* NotSoAboveItAll: Although rare, the wise and mature Antauri has his share of quirky moments, like when he joins his teammates' antics in "Big Lug".

* TheStoic: Antauri's facial expression rarely changes.

* BrainwashedAndCrazy: In the Season Four finale, [[spoiler:he is turned evil by the Fire of Hate. He goes back to normal after [[ThePowerOfLove Nova tells him she loves him]] and his friends use the Power Primate to release him from the Fire of Hate's control.]]

* IHaveYourWife: [[spoiler: While he is BrainwashedAndCrazy, he takes Nova as hostage and tortures her with his magnets in order to get his teammates to give him the Skeleton King's skull.]]

* LovableSexManiac: He [[PervertedDrooling drools]] at the sight of sexy women. Yet he's still good friends with the team and despite her annoyance at his perversions, his love interest still loves him.

* VitriolicBestBuds: With Gibson. They often clash and get into petty arguments because of their stark differences, but they're still friends and teammates who got each other's back.
* WhatTheHellHero: In "Object of Hate", he calls Gibson out for not taking the Ice Crystal of Vengeance and blames him for letting Valeena and Mandarin get away. [[{{Irony}} Ironic]] since [[spoiler: Sprx ends up being turned evil by the Fire of Hate and joining Valeena and Mandarin]].

* InferioritySuperiorityComplex: He takes great pride in being the smartest of the team, so he can't stand it when someone else threatens to take that privilege from him. When the Wigglenog makes Otto into the smartest monkey in the universe, Gibson [[OcularGushers cries rivers]] and passes out because, as Nova points, Gibson feels pretty much useless if he isn't the smartest monkey.

* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Arrogant, impatient and condescending, but still a good guy who will do anything for his friends.

* VitriolicBestBuds: With Sprx. They often clash and get into petty arguments because of their stark differences, but they're still friends and teammates who got each other's back.

* BladeOnARope: Otto's "Whirling Destructo Saws" move launches his [[ChainsawGood Energy Saws]] while they are attached to chains extending from his arms.

* GadgeteerGenius: A mechanical genius with an impressive number of inventions under his belt.

* CowardlyLion: In "Night of Fear", she loses her courage because of a curse. Sprx helps her prove herself she's still got it when they take down a berserk Antauri together.

* FashionableAsymmetry: She has a shoulder pad on only one of her shoulders

* NotQuiteDead: After being EatenAlive by the Dark One Worm, he reappears an entire season later, though admittedly worse for the wear.

* EvilCounterpart: To Jinmay. Valeena is devoted to the Skeleton King as Jinmay is to Chiro, but the difference lies in that Valeena worships a force of pure evil while Jinmay is devoted to the HeroProtagonist.

A tiny monkey who once acted as Jinmay's pet, but is actually a spy for Skeleton King. He is currently imprisoned in the prison on Ranger 7.

* EyeScream: Apparently, Skeleton King gave him an artificial eye when he started to work for him (no word whether or not he'd been missing an eye before this or if Skeleton King just replaced it). Then when Sakko failed him, he ''ripped it out.'' With an audible "pop." He sports an eyepatch in his appearances.
* TheMole: Infiltrated the city and the Hyperforce as Jinmay's pet.

* TalkingAnimal: He's a monkey that can talk for some reason, even though the robot monkeys need a translator for people to understand them.

This seemingly friendly alien is the manager and mascot of Wonder Fun Meat World, an intergalactic fast food restaurant chain. In truth, Biff Beefy Box's real form is Cloggy Colon Creature, who wants to get people fat with its meat products so it can devour them. He is currently imprisoned in the prison on Ranger 7.

* EvilCounterpart: To Jinmay. Valeena is devoted to the Skeleton King as Jinmay is to Chiro, but the difference lies in that Valeena worships a force of pure hero while Jinmay is devoted to the HeroProtagonist.

* VocalDissonance: Squash, the purple, furry one has a beautiful voice, unbefitting of a giant animate furball. Subverted when it's revealed that she's completely humanoid underneath.

* AnimalSuperheroes: The team consists of a human boy, his robot girlfriend and five Cyborg monkeys who protect the planet of Shugazoom from the Skeleton King and various other villains.

* BadassCrew: As should be expected of a team of superheroes who fight all manner of monsters and villains.

** Another episode has Antauri's former master also speculate on Chiro being The Chosen one, implying that his role is the one who will bring the end of The Dark Ones.

* MeaningfulName: Per WordofGod, Chiro comes from "Ichiro" meaning "first son" in Japanese. Additionally, Chiro in name and spelling is very similar to that of "chi-rho", a monogram of "chi" (Χ) and "rho" (Ρ) as the first two letters of Greek Khristos as in Christ.
* MysteriousPast: The exact nature of his origins are never revealed, and it's just hinted outside the show that he was a latchkey child. His parents aren't mentioned.
** In the episode titled "Skeleton King," for reasons unknown, the SK has a room containing alot of items formerly belonging to Chiro such as plushes and even a school uniform from Chiro's boyhood. Chiro is both creeped out and quite tight-lipped, being very uncomfortable about talking it outside of confirming it was his stuff from a long time ago.

Nova's OldMaster. He's known as one of the greatest warriors in the galaxy and has been the mentor to the best of warriors.

While the Hyperforce is chasing the Dark One Worm, Nova recommends him to train Chiro. Unfortunately, Galaxia is yet another planet that fell victim to the Worm's corruption, so the atmosphere is toxic and all of the inhabitants turned into monsters of one form or another-- including Offay but [[HiddenEvil he does a good job of hiding it at first.]] He agrees to train Chiro [[TrainingFromHell "if he will learn."]] It's the only hope the Hyperforce has, since they're stuck in a battle circuit and are not allowed to leave until Chiro defeats all of the monsters, which he eventually does. While Chiro is fighting his way up, Sprx, Gibson, and Otto look around for an exit and are led by a friendly monster to a disturbing room. Not only does this room contain many mounted monster heads, it also contains a scroll that reveals Ah-Fei's big secret: ''He's'' the one forcing these monsters to fight to the death for his amusement, all the while [[BloodKnight looking for a worthy opponent only to be disappointed every single time]]. Why? Because the Dark One Worm made him all BrainwashedAndCrazy!

Naturally, Offay is Chiro's final opponent in the circuit. He makes quick work of the monkeys, but is unable to defeat Chiro, leaving him with no choice but to allow the Hyperforce, and all of the trapped monsters, to go free.

After his defeat, Offay returns to his senses and joins the Monkey Team.

He may have always been in charge of the dojo, but after he got BrainwashedAndCrazy, he turned bloodthirsty and would not allow anyone to leave unless they defeated him-- which no one did until Chiro arrived. A powerful robot that the Hyperforce met in the "Corrupted Zone," a whole quadrant of planets corrupted by the Dark One Worm. The Super Robot brings the Team to said planet, where they, along with this much smaller robot, destroy a robot the size of the Super Robot. When the small robot doesn't speak to them, they follow him to a laboratory, where he seems to have disappeared. However, the Hyperforce does meet [[TheDisembodied a disembodied brain in a tank; the remains of a scientist named Professor Maezono]] who tells them that this robot, called the Prometheus V, is malfunctioning and must be destroyed -- and that the Super Robot is his prototype.

However, instead of trying to destroy the Super Robot, the Prometheus V enters his head and trades information with him, revealing the truth: Professor Maezono built these robots only to find the perfect mechanical body to plant his own consciousness into.

After that cat is let out of the bag, Maezono gets pissed off and unleashes a [[EvilArmy giant robot army on the Hyperforce and the Prometheus V]], which he and the Super Robot fight off while the Monkey Team go to shut down the central computer in Maezono's laboratory. Unfortunately, Maezono manages to escape and Prometheus V goes after him.

* AnArmAndALeg: In "I, Chiro", the clone loses his left arm at the hands of Chiro after he stabbed Antauri.
* AssholeVictim: Mandarin has suffered some very painful and humiliating experiences throughout the series, which can come across as rather cathartic given what a jerk he is:
** Back when he was still the leader of the monkey team, Mandarin decided to train Nova to endure in harsh cold. It is quite obvious this was an early sign of Mandarin's sadism as he continued to drop the temperature to near-lethal levels until Nova snapped and unleashed a blast of fire upon him. Keep in mind this was ''before'' his FaceHeelTurn, and both Chiro and Sparx are of the opinion that he deserved every bit of Nova's wrath. Even Nova, who looked back on this incident with shame, seemed more bothered by the damage she did to the Super Robot than any harm she inflicted on Mandarin.
** The original Mandarin tried to clone Chiro as part of a plan to take out the monkey team from within. When that plan failed, Skeleton King has Mandarin cloned and replaced.
** Speaking of the clone, he ended up inside the belly of the Dark One Worm. He did eventually escape but it was by no means a pleasant experience.
** In "Object of Hate", he is tortured by Valina to learn the location of one of the three items she needs to revive the Skeleton King.
