!! Michael Daniel Liberty

A former Confederate reporter, he was imbedded on the Norad II during the infestation of the Sara system and subsequently became a member of the Sons of Korhal. When Raynor went rogue after the Sons of Korhal reformed into the Dominion, Liberty went solo to fight against Dominion oppression by covering the stories they wouldn't.
----
* DemotedToExtra: He was going to the one behind the news reports in Wings of Liberty, but the developers decided his anti-Dominion bias would limit the scope of his stories, so he was replaced with Kate and Donny.
** TheCameo: He briefly appears
* FirstPersonPeripheralNarrator: The real events of Liberty's Crusade concern Raynor, Kerrigan, Duke and Mengsk as they wage war on the Confederacy. Liberty's story is talking with the four and tagging along as the larger story unfolds from their actions.
* SlidingScaleOfIdealismVsCynicism: "When idealism meets reality, it's rarely reality that backs down."

!!Frontline series

!! Sandin Forst

A master Thor pilot working with his two friends, SCV operator Rieff, the computer whiz, and Garth, who acts as muscle when Sandin needs more. Sandin's skills have earned him the nickname "Thundergod".
----
* AGodAmI: Doesn't declare himself an actual god, but he does like the nickname he's earned and thinks that in the Thor he's invincible.
* GoldFever: Pulls YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness on Garth and Rieff when the three try to steal a fortune in crystals from an old facility.
* Greed: Pity for him those crystals are .

!! Wes Carter

A soldier serving under Jon Dyre, he pilots the Wyrm, the prototype to the Viking. When Dyre snaps during a demonstration and takes the first Viking rogue, Carter went in the Wyrm to stop him.
----
* FlawedPrototype: The Wyrm is emphasized to be slower, less maneuverable, has weaker weapons, weaker armor, and a longer response time than the Viking that Dyre is piloting. Carter is only able to beat Dyre by outsmarting him, and spends the rest of the story evading and fleeing from him.

!! Jon Dyre

An exceptional Dominion pilot, he mentored Wes on piloting the Wyrm. However, he's got a lot of issues with the Dominion, which may or may not be cooked up in his own head.
----
* BrokenPedestal: Wes idolized him, but Dyre's actions ruin that image of him.
%%* DrivenToSuicide
%%* DarkAndTroubledPast
%%* TheMentor: To Wes.
** EvilMentor: More crazy than evil, but he is from Wes's point of view.
* ProperlyParanoid: While we never find out if his suspicions about his former allies and the colonists he's destroyed are founded, the rest of the Frontline series does show the zerg are always looking for more covert ways to conduct infestation, so maybe Dyre was right.
* QuicksandSucks: Downplayed, Wes tricks him into landing his Viking in a bog.

%%
%%!! Muadun

%%A protoss high templar who served on Char and now mentors other protoss on Shakuras.
%%----

%%----

%%

!! Stanley Burgess

The head scientist on the Dominion "Gestalt" program, formed with the intent to implant protoss organs in ghosts to create hybrid supersoldiers.
----
* MadScientist: Read the character description again. He delights in mutilating protoss and grafting their organs onto humans.
* TheDogBitesBack: His pet PsychoPrototype, after getting deprogrammed by the protoss he's been tormenting, gouges his lungs out with a Psiblade, and gives him an IronicEcho of his own CatchPhrase.

%%
%%!! Lekila/Rihod

%%The instructor of a high templar school and a commander of a mothership, respectively, Lekila's psionic appendages were sliced off during battle on Aiur, forcing her to become a dark templar. She and Rihod eventually fused into the first Twilight Archon during a mission back to Aiur.
%%----
%%

!!Starry Lace

A bar singer in a backwater world. Injured and disfigured in a Zerg attack on her homeworld, although that has done little to hinder her career.
----
* DeathByDisfigurement: Defied, at first. She simply gets a new hairstyle to cover her scar and sings her heart out.
* EveryScarHasAStory: Midway through her short, she recounts how she got her facial scar to the marine she brought back to her dressing room.
* ImportantHaircut: styles her hair over the left side of her face; see above
* GlamorousWartimeSinger: She's pretty, scar nonwithstanding; and can sing like Nobody's Business. Plenty of on-leave troops come to her shows.
* ManchurianAgent: Infested with one of the old-school Parasites, which allows the Zerg to see through her eyes and lead them to her position.
* MusicSoothesTheSavageBeast: She defuses a BarBrawl by singing.
* RepressedMemories: Doesn't remember her infestation until confronted by the Queen who got her in the first place.

!!Voice in the Darkness

* AGodIAm: He calls himself the "One True God", not to say he isn't powerful enough to back it up
* EldritchAbomination: This thing is MUCH more powerful than Amon
* AintTooProudToBeg: He tries to tempt Xy'tal to let him live
* SealedEvilInACan: Until some idiot scientists let him out

!!Ghost series

!! Kath Toom

A member of Team Blue in the Ghost Academy, she's good friends with Nova and Tosh. Like Nova, she eventually graduated from the Academy to become a full-fledged Ghost in the Dominion ranks, only to be scouted out by Tosh and forcibly recruited for Project Shadowblade.
----
* BerserkButton: Don't speak ill of her father.
* LaserGuidedAmnesia: It's part of the Ghost package.
%%* PsychicPowers
* ShipTease: With Tosh, and one-sided on the side of Aal Cistler.
* SpyCatsuit: Standard Ghost equipment.

!! Lio Travski

Another member of Team Blue, his psionic powers are largely the ability to interact with computers and machines using his mind. However, drug addicition inhibits his skills.
----
* AscendedToAHigherPlaneOfExistence: Implied by Spectres, particularly the ending.
* BaldOfAwesome: Though the Awesome doesn't kick in until he's resocialized.
* VirtualGhost: In Spectres.
* MindRape: His resocialization, not helped by being cured of his hab addition by going cold turkey.
* Robosexual: It's heavily implied, if not outright stated, he had a sexbot in the past and his girlfriend left him when she found out.
* TookALevelInBadass: Far more effective in the field after being resocialized and memory wiped. If there's an instance where you could argue for the positive effects of MindRape, Lio is it.
* WithGreatPowerComesGreatInsanity: Existing as a computer AI allows Lio's knowledge of the universe to expand on a massive scale, but he becomes almost entirely detached from human morality, or even logic.

!! Aal Cistler

The son of the Dominion Treasury Minister, he made it a point to be a troublesome child and got himself sent to Ghost Academy to whip him into shape. He was initially on Team Blue, but after getting kicked out of the Academy and coming back was moved to Team Red.
----
* EmpoweredBadassNormal: As far as Ghosts go. He's only got a psi index of 4.5, and the minimum requirement for the Academy is 5.0. Cistler is only in for his connections, and it's emphasized he is nowhere near as powerful as his classmates. However, he's still a master martial artist and his psionic skills give him foresight about an opponent's movements, making him a force to be reckoned with in one-on-one combat.
%%* IKnowKungFu
%%* TheRival: To Kath.
* ShipTease: Also with Kath, though only on his side.
* SmugSnake: He is astoundingly arrogant and smug, assured his family connections will protect him from any retribution he may face from breaking academy rules.

!! Malcolm Kelerchian

A Wrangler of the Confederacy, Wranglers are low level telepaths who track down Candidates for the Ghost Program. He was one of the best detectives of the Tarsonis Police Department until office politics knocked him into the Wranglers. He is the one responsible for Nova's Recruitment. Later works for the Dominion Wrangler Corps.
----
* BadassLongCoat: Wears a duster over his Wrangler gear
%%* DeadpanSnarker
%%* NiceGuy

!! Jackson Hauler

The leader of the Spectres in Spectres, the former leader of Confederate, later Dominion, Nova Squadron and current operator of Project Shadowblade.
----
%%* BaldOfEvil
* BigBad: Of Spectres.
* IHaveManyNames: He stole the identity of Jackson Hauler from a random marine years ago, and calls himself Cole Bennett while working on Project Shadowblade. It's unknown what his original name is, or how many alter-egos he's taken on over the years.
* MindRape: Deserves particular mention for being able to alter memories freely, making it easy for him to take on the identities of others.

!! Dylanna Okyl

The leader of Team Red, rival to Team Blue consisting of Nova, Tosh and their friends. She takes the rivalry very seriously.
----
* GreenEyedMonster: Her rivalry with Nova is influenced by her attraction to Tosh, but he has eyes for Nova.
* TheRival: Her and all of Team Red to Team Blue, but particularly her to Nova, since Nova is Blue's strongest member.
* WithGreatPowerComesGreatInsanity: Eventually becomes a Spectre working for Tosh, but is very unstable.

!! Colin Phash

The son of Corbin Phash, Colin is only six but has already shown remarkable psionic potential, particularly the never-before-seen ability of astral projection. When his powers were made public knowledge, Colin was forcibly seized for training in the Ghost Academy, and for experimentation in the meantime.
----
* BreakTheCutie: What happens to him during his run from the Academy and subsequent experimentations. He was once a smiling, happy boy. Not anymore.
* ColdBloodedTorture: How they get him to cooperate.
* PsychicPowers
** Invisibility: In a psionic sense -- he can shift his thought patterns so zerg don't react to his presence.
%%** Telepathy

!! Corbin Phash

Colin's father and the senator of Dominion planet Maltair IV. When he discovered Colin's abilities he tried to keep them secret, and when he failed and Colin was taken by the Ghost Academy, he defected to the Umojan Protectorate to fight the Academy's influence.
----
* BadassNormal: He remembers enough of his SCV training to still operate them, and is skilled enough at disguising his thoughts to fool a trained ghost.
* DefectorFromDecadence: Played with. It's implied he's still loyal to Mengsk and and the Dominion, and is only with the Umojans because he knows speaking against the Ghost Academy in Dominion territory would get him silenced.
* PapaBear: Everyone he does is to get his son back.
* SelfMadeMan: Implied, he used to be a humble [=SCV=] operator.

!! Kevin Bick

The Director of the Ghost Academy.
----
* AffablyEvil: It's chilling how cheerfully he tells Colin "we've got big plans for you, buddy!"
%%* BaldOfEvil

!! Sarco Angelini

The Superintendent of the Ghost Academy and Bick's right-hand man.
----
%%* BadassCape
* BaldOfEvil: Implied -- Nova sees a vision of him bald with psionic equipment on his head, but if it's a hallucination or if she senses what he really looks like is unknown.
%%* TheDragon
* GenreSavvy: When Colin fails a test of his astral projection skills, Angelini is perfectly aware he blew it on purpose.
* HypercompetentSidekick: Bick is more concerned with being a VillainWithGoodPublicity to the Dominion and keeping Mengsk and his superiors happy while Angelini interacts directly with the Ghosts and oversees Colin's "training".
* MindRape: Likely it comes with working in the Academy, but he's quick to resort to memory wiping and neural resocialization to solve any problems with trainees.
* PragmaticVillainy: He's not so stupid as to experiment in ways that could damage Colin's brain, since that would risk destroying his powers or even killing him.

!!Dark Templar Saga

!! Jake Ramsey

An archeologist known for wild theories based on pseudo-scientific speculation, this puts him in a unique spotlight that earns him a Valerian-sponsored trip to investigate a Xel'naga temple, where he encounters Zamara. Forced to accept her consciousness into his Terran brain, the two work together to outsmart Dominion, Zerg and corrupted Protoss to get the galaxy-critical information in Zamara's mind to safety.
----
* AdventurerArchaeologist: Averted. Aside from being considered something of a crackpot, and the occasional foray into hands-on study instead of using more modern techniques, Jake's archaeological job doesn't involve much adventuring. After his encounter with Zamara, he has to abandon his normal life in favor of finding Zeratul and keeping Zamara safe from Ulrezaj. He's an Adventurer and an Archaeologist, but not an AdventurerArchaeologist.
* FirstPersonPeripheralNarrator: Rather than show him the deeds that Adun and Khas take in directly, Zamara shows Jake their deeds through the perspective of their friends, Temlaa and Vetraas. She mentions she does have the memories of Adun and Khas and could show them to Jake, but she finds that there is more to learn from them by observing the events as an outsider.
* GeniusDitz: The reason Valerian chooses him is not because Jake is the smartest or most skilled in his field, but he is willing to try and think about things in ways humans would normally not, which gives him an edge in exploring Protoss and Xel'naga ruins. .
* PowerDegeneration: spoiler:Terran brains just can't handle the knowledge and powers a Protoss can, and thus continued existence of Zamara and her memories causes a brain tumor to develop, hastening the urgency of getting her to safety before it becomes inoperable.

!! Zamara

A protoss Preserver, containing all the memories of past protoss, she is one of a few left and was hunted down by Ulrezaj. Wounded and carrying valuable information, she preserved herself in stasis to transfer herself into the mind of a protoss, if they ever found her. Due to a flash of insight on their language, though, Jake found her first, and Zamara's consciousness entered his mind.
----
* Badass: Her psionic skills give her far greater control over Jake's body than he has himself, making her an excellent combatant in even his untrained body. And through taxing, she can still use psionic attacks.
* HeKnowsTooMuch: Why Ulrezaj wants her dead.
* LastOfHisKind: Ulrezaj's efforts to wipe out the preservers have been effective, and she believes she may be one of the last left. Stacraft II revealed at least three others, though in captivity at the time, also remain.
* RememberTheNewGuy: Side-stepped -- while she was accompanying Tassadar's forces during the time of the base game, she isn't mentioned in novelizations of that time. This is explained by Tassadar fearing for her safety and so ordering her to stay aboard his ship while he had his adventures on the surface.

!! Rosemary "RM" Dahl

A beautiful mercenary assigned to guard Jake and his men, when Jake and Zamara went rogue RM was rescued to come with them for her surivival skills. Though her loyalties to them are shaky at first, they grow stronger over the course of the trilogy.
----
%%* ActionGirl: Possibly a DarkActionGirl
%%* Badass
* FireForgedFriends: With Jake, though with a lot of ShipTease.
* HazyFeelTurn: Her loyalties to Jake waver back and forth, especially in the first book, but she never outright betrays him after they end up working together.
* MsFanservice: Particularly in the first book. Take a shot every time her physical appearance is described, take two for "Cupid's bow lips", the most recurring one.
%%* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: At first.
* PintSizedPowerhouse: She's very short, but a total badass.

!! Ethan Stewart

A powerful and rich criminal leader on Dead Man's Port and Rosemary's on-and-off lover and employer. He tried to sell Jake out to the Dominion and was shot in the chest for his efforts. When Dead Man's Port was invaded by the zerg, his alive but wounded body was taken by the swarm to be reborn as an advanced Infested Terran, first in a potential new generation of lieutenants to Kerrigan.
----
* ArousedByTheirVoice: It's emphasized he has a smooth, rich voice that remains unaltered after infestation.
* TheDragon: To Kerrigan.
* DragonInChief: As Kerrigan is back on Char, and he's the one actively pursuing the heroes.
* EvilIsSexy: invoked After his infestation he becomes openly in love with Kerrigan, though if it's for the power he got from her, if it's part of the infestation, or if it's just her CuteMonsterGirl appearance, is unknown.
* MultiArmedAndDangerous: Post-infestation, he grows an extra pair of limbs like Hydralisk arms.
%%* SinisterScythe
* YouHaveFailedMe: Pulled by Kerrigan.

!! Devon Starke

A ghost in Valerian's personal employ, unlike so many of them he has been given his free will and has no neural inhibitors. He is sincerely loyal to Valerian for being spared execution when Valerian hand-picked him to work for him from a list of soon-to-be-killed ghosts.
----
* BadassBaritone: Described as one.
* TheDragon: To Valerian.
* HeroicSacrifice: .
* IOweYouMyLife: He was one of thousands of Ghosts spared from death only because Valerian wanted one for his personal services. Devon knows this and is very grateful for it.
* TheQuietOne: Given that he has such a distinctive deep voice, and Ghosts are supposed to be covert, it's mentioned he doesn't talk much.

!! Savassan

A member of the Shelak Tribe during the period of civil war called the Aeon of Strife, he yearns to find more in life than just killing other protoss and guarding a few mysterious xel'naga relics they can't understand. He gets his wish when he rediscovers the lost communal link link known as the Khala and reunites the race, earning his more-well known moniker "Khas", and being immortalized in Protoss history.
----
* AscendedToAHigherPlaneOfExistence: According to WordOfGod, he lived out his life peacefully and became one with the Khala upon his death.
* CrucifiedHeroShot: It is implied by the narrative that this was his pose when he rediscovered the Khala from touching a massive khaydarin crystal.
* MartialPacifist: He disliked killing and violence, but he would resort to them if needed.
* MeaningfulName: "Khas" fittingly means "He Who Brings Order", precisely what he did.
* MessianicArchetype: And for a damn good reason, being that he single-handedly ended a planet-wide civil war and united the species as one again. Before the time of Adun, the saying went "En Taro Khas".
* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: Most Protoss only know him as "Khas"; his true name is lost to almost all outside the preservers.
* UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom: Legacy of the Void reveals that the Khala [[spoiler: was created by the Xel'Naga who uplifted the protoss in the first place (who also happened to be an OmnicidalManiac who destroyed most of his own race), and was originally meant as a tool to enslave them. Savassan reactivated the psionic link, which very much gave Amon just what he needed. By the end of Legacy, almost every single protoss had to sever themselves from the Khala to escape Amon's mind control.]]
* UnwittingPawn: The giant khaydarin chrystal he found that helped Protoss rediscover the Khala? spoiler: It was left by Amon (Or his followers) so that they can get another opportunity at enslaving the Protoss (By having one, in this case Khas, find it), which, as mentioned above, does happen in Legacy of the Void.

!! Temlaa

Savassan's apprentice of sorts, and the only one of the Shelak Tribe who is able to understand his teachings.
----
* TheLancer: To Savassan.

!! Adun

The templar who, long ago in Aiur's history, was assigned to track down and exterminate protoss who had begun to reject the Khala. When he discovered that contrary to the Conclave's propaganda, the rogues were not evil or anarchistic, he instead taught them to hide themselves using psionic powers coming from a place other than the Khala, creating the band that would become known as the dark templar.
----
* AscendedToAHigherPlaneOfExistence: Implied and believed by some protoss.
* MessianicArchetype: To the Khalai Protoss for "saving" them from the Dark Templar, and to the Dark Templar for sparing their lives. All those times you hear the Protoss say "En Taro Adun" or "Adun Toridas," they're talking about this guy.
* TheParagon: The Conclave's most decorated and seasoned warrior, and in the present one of the most legendary Protoss to ever live.
* TheParagonAlwaysRebels: In so much as he and his subordinates refuse the extermination orders and help the dark templar.
* MeaningfulName: In Malay, "adun" means "blend/ mix". One of Adun's greatest achievements was to be the first protoss to combine dark and light psionic energies.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: Which is why he didn't blindly accept his orders to kill the Dark Templar.
* SecondComing: It is believed that when the Protoss race is in peril, Adun will return to them to save them once again. Depending on how you interpret Tassadar and learning to wield the two psionic energy types, they could be seen as the trope coming true.
* YinYangBomb: Become one by combining dark and light psionic energies.

!! Vetraas

Adun's advisor, an old warrior that questions his commander's judgment but does see the value of his beliefs.
----
* IntergenerationalFriendship: He is much older than Adun, but they're the closest of friends.
* TheLancer: To Adun.
* OlderAndWiser: He's more cautious about aiding the rogues than Adun and worries they cannot control the powers they are learning to wield. He was right.

!! Kortanul

The head of the Conclave during the hunt for the dark templar, he wishes to see them wiped out for fear dissention from the Khala could cause another Aeon of Strife.
----
* KnightTemplar: If Adun is the ancient equivalent of Tassadar, this guy is Aldaris.
* MoralEventHorizon: An in-universe example -- when he physically strikes Adun, the Dark Templar and Conclave are both horrified. It isn't merely the act itself, but thanks to the khala, Kortanul knows Adun believes he did the right thing and how strongly he believed it, but his rage was so great it blinded him to reason, and the Conclave believed he went too far.

!!On-line Lore Articles

!! "Green Eyes"

A feral Overlord on Tarsonis. Without the hive mind to guide it, it recovered its memories from its time as a Gargantis proximae, the species the zerg assimilated to create the Overlord strain. When "Purple Eyes," its mate from its time as a Gargantis proximae, is killed by a Dominion training team that lands on the planet, Green Eyes takes vengeance.

* DeathSeeker: spoiler:It ultimately asks (non-verbally) Gage to kill it, because it doesn't want to live without its mate. When Gage refuses, Green Eyes returns to the swarm and the hive mind so it can lose its sentience and forget.
* Determinator: Controlling other Zerg strains itself is physically painful for it, but it endures it and keeps building more forces to destroy the Terrans.
* HappinessInSlavery:
* ItCanThink: Its entire short story demonstrates how sentient Overlords actually are. Green Eyes is actually quite intelligent, if struggling to hold onto its sanity against its zerg instincts.
* RoaringRampageOfRevenge: For the death of its mate, Green Eyes dedicates itself to destroying the Dominion team save for the Marine who did the deed, so he can know pain and madness like Green Eyes does.

!! Nuroka

First Ascendant of the Tal'darim, Nuroka is a loyal servant to Amon. At least, he was; when he discovers Amon's true intent for the Tal'darim, he plots to overthrow Ma'lash and take command of the Tal'darim to turn them against Amon.

* AccidentalPublicConfession: How did Nuroka find out Amon's true intentions? He consumed more terrazine than usual, and as such, peered so far into the Void that he could enter Amon's thoughts, as he had let his guard down. Nuroka also discovered through this that Ma'lash did know Amon was never going to ascend the strongest of the Tal'darim into hybrids, yet he pretended not to know such truth.
* DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu: He wants to kill Amon. Alarak notes that this is ridiculous to even consider, but Nuroka is confident there must be a way.
* DrugsAreBad: A surprising inversion - taking too much terrazine was what led him to his groundbreaking discovery.
* ForegoneConclusion: Alarak is First Ascendant in Legacy of the Void but Ma'lash is still Highlord, so there's your clue to how Nuroka's story ends.
* HeelFaithTurn: Inverted, he became disillusioned with Amon and turned on the Tal'darim.
* HeroAntagonist: Insomuch as the Tal'darim can be considered "heroes." Nuroka is largely the antagonist of the short story where he features, but is trying to get the Tal'darim to break away from Amon and kill the dark god.
* HorribleJudgeOfCharacter: He recruited Alarak to aid him in Rak'Shir, but underestimated Alarak's cunning ways and faith to Amon.
* SmallRoleBigImpact: Despite only featuring in a short story published on-line, Nuroka's words and actions spur Alarak to uncover the truth for himself. By proxy, you can thank Nuroka for setting the stage for

----
* BadassBaritone: Described as one.
* TheDragon: To Valerian.
* HeroicSacrifice: .
* IOweYouMyLife: He was one of thousands of Ghosts spared from death only because Valerian wanted one for his personal services. Devon knows this and is very grateful for it.
