His internal conflict [[PyrrhicVillainy only becomes worse]]; he is unable to also kill his mother and talks a bit about his father with Rey, revealing he didn't really hate him and that he considers himself a monster for what he did. Subsequently, Rey comes to [[SympathyForTheDevil empathise with Kylo]] and [[SympathyForTheHero he with her]], and she believes he could be redeemed. Finally, when Luke confronts Kylo on Crait, he warns him that if he strikes him down in anger, he'll always be with him "just like [his] father"; Kylo's last scene shows him staring forlornly at an illusion of Han's golden dice, indicating Luke was right.
