Crona is Ragnarok's meister of [[AmbiguousGender intentionally unclear gender]], and initially worked for Medusa due to being a {{Tykebomb}}. Crona is unusual for a meister because they and Ragnarok share the same body, which is a source of {{Squick}} for the heroes. Crona alternated between being homicidally insane and fearful when under Medusa, later showing a nicer side when at the DWMA.

* AdaptationDyeJob: Their hair was pink in the manga but purple in the anime (though there are a few manga illustrations where it's purple, it's usually pink).
* AdaptationalHeroism: Due to the anime ending much before the manga and diverging from its storyline, Crona ends firmly on the side of the DWMA by the end of it, rather than going through major SanitySlippage and [[spoiler:fusing with Asura.]]

* KatanasAreJustBetter: After the Aracnophobia Arc, Ragnarok forms three swords, two of which resemble thin katana (with one being barbed), while the remaining sword resembles a cleaver.
* MysteriousPast: We're never given any clue as to what his life was like prior to being melted in Black Blood.
* NoMouth: His humanoid form seems to lack a mouth, at least while talking. He does have a mouth in this form, although it just seems to be for eating and scaring people.
* PintSizedPowerhouse: He fares pretty well against Giriko and knocks over a golem while in SleepModeSize! Maka even wonders how she was able to defeat him.
* PowerGivesYouWings: After absorbing the souls on the Nidhogg, he can turn into the "Black Dragon".
* ShooOutTheClowns: He's stays around for a while, but after [[spoiler:Crona killed Medusa]] he basically didn't say a word. After [[spoiler:Crona is absorbed by Asura]] he [[WhatHappenedToTheMouse disappears completely for the entire rest of the manga.]]

Giriko is a Demon Weapon and an ally to the witch Arachne. He lives for fighting and destruction, and takes the form of a chainsaw in weapon form.

* AssistCharacter: Giriko is a ShapeshifterWeapon who's found away around his dependence on a meister by letting himself be used as an EquippableAlly by a {{Golem}} he created.
* AxCrazy: More and more as the series goes on.
* ActuallyADoombot: When he fights Maka and Soul in the Book of Ebion, the pair seem to have triumphed and killed him. [[spoiler: And then he shows up in a female body, explaining the body the pair killed was a golem and he had transferred his mind to a new one awhile ago.]]
* BeneathTheMask: Giriko has apparently been sucking up and playing nice for eight hundred years to stay off the DWMA's radar. He's hated every second of it, and rips the mask off in the very chapter he's introduced.

** Giriko is a wicked {{Foil}} to Soul, who is also a bladed ShapeshifterWeapon but completely dependent on a meister. Giriko gets around needing a meister by letting himself be used by a {{Golem}}, and even better his Saw Leg technique enables him use high-speed martial arts in his own right.
** Giriko is also a sharp contrast to Justin Law, strongest of the death-scythes, and is so annoyed by Justin's existence that he takes it personally. Justin also attacks with blades and can fight on his own like Giriko, but Justin's [[LargeHam hammy]] pieties infuriate Giriko, who has been kissing butt for eight centuries to stay off od Death's radar. Later developments [[spoiler:like Justin's FaceHeelTurn]] add a layer of {{Irony}} to this relationship.
** As a father, Giriko also contrasts Spirit, whose doting but damaged relationship with Maka is contrasted by Giriko, who steals the bodies of his own children to stay alive over the centuries.

His body moves in such a way that one could think he was a balloon monster.[[spoiler:his whole body even looks like it deflated when he dies by Sid's hand, despite being shot in the abdomen a little while earlier by Kid and still moving that way.]]
* AssassinOutclassin: He's distinctly referred to as an assassin by Kid, but seems to be an InformedAttribute, as he's only sent to get the Eternal Spring and is never shown hunting somebody down.

Insanity incarnate, it was born as a result of the madness Asura released into the world. Maka and Soul first encountered it in a twisted factory where it tried to drive them both insane, but they defeated it with Maka's anti-demon wavelength. It escaped, and has since allied itself with Noah's team and with Justin Law in particular. Until they find the Kishin on the Moon and they abandon Noah for Asura's clown armies.

Problem is, he is gainfully aware of it, making him unbearable to pretty much every meister who tries to wield him.
