->'''Voiced by:'''

Yggdrasil, the world tree; upon those mighty boughs are held the nine realms of existence, and nest the wise eagle. Far below, across the galaxy spanning trunk, and beneath the roots, coils Nidhogg, the deplorable serpent. In eternal, bloodless conflict are the eagle and serpent locked. Perhaps these two enemies would have forgotten each other long ago were they not able to trade jabs and threats across the impossible distance. Yet, there is one that takes great pleasure enabling this feud, one who's mischievous talent for insults and barbs knowns no bounds... and he's just a squirrel.

Ratatoskr, the sly messenger, has lived in the World Tree since time immemorial. Where he came from or why is truly unknown, but if there's a way to stir the pot between any two gods, he'll do it. He's a master of gossip and coy backhanded compliment; and yet, all the gods come to him for news. His home on the trunk of Yggdrasil conveniently places Ratatoskr at the center of cosmic activity.

As gods from every pantheon clash, how could Ratatoskr pass up the opportunity to instigate new rivalries? Quite simply, he cannot. Beware the squirrel.

Ratatoskr is an assassin-type God. His first ability is ''Dart'' in which he dashes to the targeted direction, dealing damage to all enemies hit. If he hits a god that wasn't struck by ''Dart'' in the few seconds, the cooldown is reset. His second ability, ''Flurry of Acorns'', he spins in a circle, shooting 12 acorns around him that freeze in the air for a few seconds, then return back to him, dealing damage. His third ability, ''Acorn Blast'', he shoots a blast of four acorns at a cone, dealing damage. And his ultimate ability, ''Through the Cosmos'', he charges briefly then leaps from the ground to the branches above him. He must jump to a new branches twice and on his third branch, he chooses his landing target where he strikes down dealing damage.

His passive, ''Acorn of Yggdrasil'', grants him a magic acorn which provide stat buffs. Magic Acorn grants +5 physical power and branches into two other acorns: Blue and Yellow. Both grant +30 physical power and new attributes to ''Flurry of Acorns''. Blue grant the ''Flurry of Acorns'' to slow all target hit, and Yellow increases the damage of ''Flurry of Acorns.'' Both of them split into its final branch of acorns: Blue splits into Sapphire and Emerald, and Yellow splits into Topaz and Opal. The Blue line grants +15 physical penetration and grant new attributes to ''Acorn Blast''. Sapphire Acorn grants each acorn from ''Acorn Blast'' to stick to an target, which explodes and deal damage around the area, and Emerald Acorn heals Ratatoskr when ''Acorn Blast'' hits a target. The yellow line grants +25% cooldown reduction and grants new attributes to ''Dart''. Topaz Acorn now allow ''Dart'' to stun an enemy if they are dashed twice, and Opal Acorn now allow ''Dart'' to shoot 4 lighting bolts to nearby enemies while dashing, prioritizing on gods. It applies on-hit effects.

----
* TheAgeless: He may have been born with Yggdrasil, but no one is sure.
* [[KillerRabbit Killer Squirrel]]: He may look cute, but he is trickster and loves seeing conflicts.
* NuttySquirrel: He's a hyper, taunting jokester.
* ShockAndAwe: Dash wreathes him in lightning, and his acorns also surge with lightning of different colors depending on which Acorn of Yggdrasil upgrade you take.
* TheTrickster: A different flavor to Loki, but the fact he uses his fast talk and sly speech to instigate fights between beings that could destroy the world, he's only less malicious in that he doesn't do it specifically for the sake of causing harm.

[[folder:Odin, The Allfather]]
[[quoteright:250:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/odin_smite_3344.png]]

-> '''Voiced by:''' Bob Carter

Mightiest of the Aesir, warrior and king, the All-Father is a doomed God.

It seems strange to imagine a God concerned with his fate, but Odin regularly consults the volva, the seers in the North. They speak of [[TheEndOfTheWorldAsWeKnowIt a final war, Ragnarok, when the mightiest Gods are slain and the world is consumed by the sea]]. For this day, Odin constantly prepares.

The All-Father can trace his lineage to the evil Frost Giant, Ymir, whom he slew with the aid of his two brothers, Vili and Ve, and with his remains forged the world. Atop Asgard, where Odin presides, he is known as the bringer of war, a sage of wisdom, and the keeper of souls slain in battle.

As a warrior, Odin rides his eight legged steed, Sleipnir, and wields the mighty spear Gungnir. Accompanying him are two wolves and his two trusted ravens, Huginn (thought) and Muninn (memory), who fly around Midgard and return to Odin with all they see and hear.

As a sage, Odin travels disguised as a simple wanderer, seeking wisdom. His thirst for knowledge has come at great personal cost, having been hanged from the branches of Yggdrasil, the world tree, for nine days and nights and sacrificed one of his eyes to the Well of Wisdom.

As keeper of souls, Odin welcomes slain warriors to his mighty hall of Valhalla on the agreement they will aid him at Ragnarok. [[AmazonBrigade Favored female warriors become his elite Valkyrie that usher those worthy of entry to Valhalla]].

It is in preparation for the final days of Ragnarok he does all this. For the seers claim his death will come at the fangs of the great wolf Fenrir, and like anyone, Odin seeks to change his fate. Yet, never once have the volva been mistaken.

Odin is a Warrior-type god, with decent survivability and high burst damage through his abilities. His passive, ''The Allfather'', permanently increases his physical power for every enemy who dies inside the area of his ultimate, up to 10 stacks. Odin's first ability, ''Lunge'', has him leap at a target area, dealing damage to all enemies within. Compared to other leaps, Lunge is slow to execute but deals heavy damage in a large area. His second ability, ''Raven Shout'', summons a flock of ravens to form a shield around Odin. At the end of its 4s duration, the shield explodes, dealing damage to nearby enemies. This damage scales with the amount of shield remaining, and is further increased by 25% if the shield was intact. The shield also automatically detonates if Odin performs a Lunge. Using his third ability, ''Gungnir's Might'', Odin spins twice, dealing damage to nearby enemies. The first strike slows enemies. His ultimate, ''Ring of Spears'', creates a circular wall of ghostly spears around Odin, trapping Odin and any enemies caught within, while Odin's allies and all projectiles can pass freely. Enemies caught inside the ring cannot be healed and suffer greatly reduced attack speed.

Odin received a number of fairly significant changes in September 2014. For his powers before this change, see this [[note]]The old Odin was more resistant to damage but less damaging and more mana hungry. Further, leveling up his abilities gave him additional stats - additional power on ''Odin's Shout'', and additional health regeneration on ''Gungnir's Might''. Except for the last one, the bonuses were removed some months before the changes. Odin's old passive was ''Birds of Wisdom'', giving him 50% longer sight radius, even across obstacles. Instead of ''Raven Shout'', his second ability was ''Odin's Shout'', giving himself and all nearby allies increased attack speed for a brief duration. His ultimate also received significant changes - before them, the wall was impassable to allies and projectiles, and instead of debuffing the enemy, it granted Odin increased movement, protections, damage and CC immunity. He could also dismiss the ring at any time.[[/note]]

----

* ActionDad: As expected by the Allfather.
* ArtEvolution: Got a more detailed character model a while after his release.
* BadassBeard: Odin has a massive beard done into three BraidsOfBarbarism.
* BattleCry: The (removed) ability Odin's Shout is usually accompanied by him yelling one of three lines:
--> ''Yggdrasil mustn't fall!''
--> ''For Asgard!''
--> ''Valhalla beckons you!''
* BladeOnAStick: He carries his mighty Gungnir.
* CloseRangeCombatant: One of the only gods that can't do anything without getting close to an enemy.
* {{Combo}}: Using ''Lunge'' while ''Raven Call'''s shield is active guarantees both hit the same area. Additionally, his ultimate combines very well with other gods' high-damage abilities that hit a large area - for example, the ultimates of Zeus, Vulcan or Cupid.
* CoolChair: He stands upon a great wooden throne during his victory animation.
* CrutchCharacter: As it stands, Odin does incredibly well in the early game thanks to the static damage on his Lunge/Raven Shout combo, but that same static damage, combined with the fact that Odin has to use both his damage mitigation ''and'' escape to get full damage, means that once the enemy team's CC is online, his damage is effectively crippled for the sake of survivability. Unless he can get an extremely good lead extremely early, the only significance he'll have in teamfights is the anti-healing on his ultimate.
* EyepatchOfPower: Odin has only one eye as is told of him, with the missing eye covered.
* EverythingsBetterWithSpinning: Which is why he spins his spear above him twice before he sticks it into the ground to taunt you. Also, why he spins his spear around once before landing to strike it into the ground for his Leap ability.
* FriendlyFireproof: His reworked ultimate is an unusual version of this, where it blocks enemies, but not allies, who can still move though it freely. Even more weirdly, Odin himself can't move past the ring, which can cause some agony if he captures half the enemy team with no allies around...
* GeoEffects: His Wall of Spears ultimate creates a circle of spears around him that blocks normal movement - it can only be circumvented with abilities that teleport through it or jump over it.
* GroundPound: His Leap ability causes damage to enemies within an area Odin jumps into the air for and lands impaling his spear into the ground.
* HoistByHisOwnPetard: His ultimate creature a perfect targeting circle for many god's abilities...including enemy gods. It's a brave player who takes Odin when there is a Zeus on the enemy team...
** Slightly better than in his old ultimate, which prevented the passage of both allies and enemies, with the former now being able to move through his spears.
* HornyVikings: Odin wears a helmet with the horned style of the trope, though with ''especially'' very large horns compared to other examples.
* TheJuggernaut: Pre-changes Odin received a large amount of buffs while inside his ring, making him hard to evade and harder to stop.
* MageKiller: One of the most common uses for his ultimate, since mages rely on staying a safe distance away from enemy carries and only one of them (Scylla) can escape the ring with a normal ability. Even moreso after his rework as it now completely shuts down the healing abilities of characters like Ra and Hel.
* RatedMForManly: Despite his travels for wisdom, Odin's gameplay in Smite goes for a more direct approach - summon a shield of ravens, jump-attack onto an enemy ForMassiveDamage, SpinAttack to slow the survivors or outright trap and debuff them with the ring of spears...
* ReverseGrip: How he holds his spear out of combat. He goes into a more normal grip of the spear-end facing away from him once he is in combat.
* SadlyMythtaken: Odin's lore describes him as hoping to change his fate of being killed by Fenrir in Ragnarok. This is untrue, as YouCantFightFate is a running theme within NorseMythology (noted by the gods themselves in some stories), with Odin's demise in the expected TheEndOfTheWorldAsWeKnowIt being just one of very, very, ''very'' many.
** Though one could interpret this another way: As Odin is a norse warrior, he prefers to die trying to face against what he knows is a hopeless cause than to give in, which would be cowardly.
* ShouldersOfDoom: Was especially prominent in his old model, though his new model's silhouette doesn't display quite as blatantly.
* ShoutOut: With his a lot of [[RatedMForManly manliness]], mighty spear as his weapon, being the top leader of his Pantheon, as well as having an ultimate where he traps himself and his target within a mostly inescapable terrain, Hi-Rez probably based Odin's style from [[VideoGame/LeagueOfLegends Jarvan IV]]. Pity that Odin did not yell '''[[BattleCry ASGARD!!!]]''' when using his Ring of Spears.
* SliceAndDiceSwordsmanship: Odin has a joke where he says "Depth perception? Hah! I stab and Gungnir finds its target. ''Always''."... yet the only time he ever uses it in a stabbing motion within gameplay when he strikes downward in a leap for his Lunge ability. Otherwise, he always swings it. Even ''after'' his model and animations were updated.
* SpinAttack: His Gungnir's Might ability has him do an overhand swing from behind his head after doing a wide slash left from right.
** His old model did a backwards swing on Gungnir's Might. Another backwards swing served as one of its autoattack animations.
* SuperMode: Part of his pre-rework Wall of Spears ultimate's mechanics - in addition to stopping enemies from moving out of the ring, it also gave him bonus protections, physical power and immunity to crowd control while he's in it. Now, it debuffs the enemy attack speed and healing instead.
* TopGod: Of the Norse Aesir.

[[folder:Tyr, The Lawgiver]]

[[caption-width-right:250:[[http://hydra-media.cursecdn.com/smite.gamepedia.com/f/f0/Tyr_Intro_2a.ogg "Justice shall be done."]]]]

Tyr. The embodiment of mankind's impossible ideals. Man is a malleable creature, but a God is stone, shaped only by the harsh weather of expectation. And none have a greater burden of expectation than Tyr, for he is Courage. He is Honor. He is Justice.

Courage is not the absence of fear, but the will to face the frightening.

Fenrir, the mighty wolf, was foretold to wreak such devastation on the Gods that they sought to bind him. Tyr, clothed in courage, brought the beast to their prison, where the Gods prepared shackles.

Honor is not a stubborn oath, but the integrity to uphold what is right, even when it is not easy.

Under the guise of a test of strength, twice the Gods bound Fenrir, and twice he broke free. On the third attempt, Fenrir sensed a trick and demanded one of the Gods place their hand into his mouth. If the binding proved magical, Fenrir would take the hand. Tyr agreed.

Justice is not adherence to the law, but a code of fairness and morality.

Bound by the mystical ribbon, Fenrir devoured Tyr’s hand. It was the price to be paid. And Tyr paid it willingly. Even Fenrir deserved justice.

One handed, Tyr is worshipped as a pinnacle of righteousness, called upon for valor in battle, balance in law, and the fortitude to face the impossible. As the cloud of war blackens the world, and fear grips the people, Tyr is stooped by the weight of expectation. With blade in hand, he takes the field. For he is Courage. He is Honor. He is Justice.

Tyr is a dual-stance, Warrior-type God. His passive, ''Unyielding'', caps the duration of crowd control effects affecting Tyr to one second. His first ability, ''Fearless'', makes Tyr charge forward, damaging enemies. In Assault Stance, he attacks twice, pushing enemies in front of himself and knocking them in the air; in Guard Stance, he attacks only once, passing through enemies unimpeded. Tyr's second ability, ''Power Cleave'', makes him swing his massive sword in an arc in front of himself, dealing damage to all targets struck. In Assault Stance, any enemies that were knocked up previously are knocked back; in Guard Stance, every enemy hit (up to three) will heal Tyr. His third ability, ''Change Stance'', passively increases Tyr's power in Assault Stance, and his protections in Guard Stance. Activating it will change Tyr's stance, as well as take Fearless and Power Cleave off cooldown. His ultimate, ''Lawbringer'', makes Tyr toss his sword into the air, then peform a leaping attack at the target area, dealing damage in a wide area and slowing enemies.

----
* BadassBeard: Like father, like son.
* {{BFS}}: It's about his height and only slightly less wide than his torso.
* TheCape: He is Courage. He is Honor. He is Justice.
* {{Combos}}: In Assault Stance, his Power Cleave can knock enemies back, but only if they're launched into the air first. Guess what Fearless does in the same stance?
* FoeTossingCharge: This makes up half his kit.
* HandicappedBadass: Sacrificed his hand in order to keep Fenrir chained until Ragnarok. Still doesn't stop him from kicking all kinds of ass.
* LightningBruiser: One of the best examples with not just one but ''two'' dashes, a huge leap, a very damaging ability combo, a powerful self-heal, and free power or protections depending on which stance he's in. Received a series of nerfs in 2014, likely due to being so good at this.
* NoJustNoReaction: This is how he responds to the laugh command.
* NoSell: His passive reduces his vulnerability to many types of crowd control.
* NoSenseOfHumor: This guy outright refuses to laugh when you type in the command. Even his "jokes" are more along the lines of BadassBoast and court talk.
** While Privatyr skin averts this (except still refusing to laugh, he's fine with jokes though), he goes back into being this in Sock Puppetyr skin. His sock puppet Manny goes along to say possibly funny things, Tyr just finds them unfunny and a lot of times expresses how much he's annoyed with the puppet.
* ReverseGrip: Holds his sword this way in Guard Stance.
* OneHandedZweihander: How he wields that gargantuan sword of his... not that he has much of a choice about the one handed part.
* OnlyAFleshWound: Might say this almost verbatim after surviving a fight at low health (though his tone of voice makes it clear that it's not).
* {{Pirate}}: In his [[{{Pun}} Privatyr]] alternate skin.
* ShouldersOfDoom: They practically reach the height of his body off his shoulders!
* ShoutOut: His ultimate has a... suspicious description.
--> ''''Tyr leaps through the air, [[StarCraft bringing indiscriminate justice]] upon all enemies in the target area"''
** Tyr dances like the Techno Viking during his victory animation.
** ''[[http://hydra-media.cursecdn.com/smite.gamepedia.com/c/cc/Tyr_Joke_1b.ogg I cannot break the law]]: [[ComicBook/JudgeDredd I am the law.]]"
* SillinessSwitch: Tyr is one of the most straight-faced characters, refusing to laugh or joke when prompted with the corresponding emote commands. Then you switch to [[{{Pirate}} his]] [[{{Pun}} Privatyr]] [[RuleOfFunny skin]]....
* SpinAttack: His Fearless ability has him spin around twice while using it in Assault Stance. Power Cleave is a backwards spin-slash in Assault Stance, or a forwards spin-slash in Guard Stance. Lawbringer has him do a forward somersault prior to impact.
* StanceSystem: His primary gimmick.
* SwordDrag: When in Assault Stance.
* TalkLikeAPirate: As Privatyr.
* UnexplainedAccent: Like Athena, and unlike his compatriots in the Norse pantheon, he has a noticeable Scottish accent.

[[caption-width-right:250:[[http://hydra-media.cursecdn.com/smite.gamepedia.com/b/b6/Ymir_Intro.ogg "Ymir is here!"]]]]

-> '''Voiced by:''' Charles Campbell

As far as it is known, Ymir has long been dead.

In Midgard, in the North, it is believed that Ymir’s skull is the sky, his flesh the earth, and his blood the sea. Though, these claims could merely be the boasting of proud Odin and his brothers, who take credit for slaying the first jotunn and fashioning the earth from his body parts.

At the beginning of time, the Realm of Fire, Muspell, and the Realm of Ice, Niflheim met at the place called Ginnungagap; the void of space. Steam rose and froze again, and from that primordial mixture, Ymir, King of the Frost Giants took shape. From his body dripped other beings that would become the ancestors of Gods, Men, Dwarves, and of course, Giants. Even the mighty Odin must claim Ymir as his grandfather. Yet Ymir, like all giants, was an evil creature and led his Giant brethren against the Gods. After ages of warfare, Odin and his brothers slew the Giant-King and forged the world from his remains.

Yet there are other whispers. Rumors that Ymir, though not a God, was still a Primeval Being, and as such cannot truly be destroyed. Perhaps he only lies dormant in Niflheim, the realm of ice, eager to return and wreak vengeance upon Odin in his kin.

Ymir is a [[StoneWall Guardian]]-type god. His passive, ''Frostbite'', doubles his standard attack damage against targets affected by his abilities. His first ability, ''Ice Wall'', [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin creates a wall of ice]] at a location of Ymir's choosing, perpendicular to the direction he is facing, blocking enemy (and allied) movement and projectiles. His second ability, ''Glacial Strike'', causes a row of icy spikes to erupt from the ground in a wide line in front of him, causing damage after a short but noticeable delay. His third ability, ''Frost Breath'', freezes all enemies in a cone in front of him, dealing damage and making them unable to move or act, being one of the longest crowd control effects in the game. His ultimate, ''Shards of Ice'', roots Ymir for up to three seconds. Enemies in a large area around Ymir are slowed during the channel. When finished or cancelled early, enemies in range take heavy damage, scaling with the duration of the channel.

----
* AffablyEvil: Ymir is amongst the bad guys, but he's less malicious and more [[DumbMuscle too dumb]] to be actively malicious. It's also noted that if one buys his voicepack, his [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-13xI0uRHJw "Hi!"]] voice is notably... very friendly for an 'evil' character.
* AlwaysChaoticEvil: Named as such for being a Frost Giant.
* AnIcePerson: His entire kit.
* BadassBeard: Ymir has a long beard with two ends of a large mustaches above it.
* BackFromTheDead: The game's reason for him being a playable character and not chopped up as the different parts of the world.
* BoringButPractical: Using Frost Breath and Glacial Strike. Frost Breath is an ability with very little delay that can only miss if the user whiffed its maximum range or the target(s) managed to move sufficiently erratically to confuse them. Glacial Strike has a much more significant delay that is easily invalidated by landing Frost Breath first. They are both some of the strongest stuns and slows in the game respectively.
* BreakingTheFourthWall: A voiceline he has in his Nuclear Winter skin:
--> "[=HiRezKelly=] is Ymir favorite!"[[note]][=HiRezKelly=] is a [=HiRez=] employee and streamer who's most used god is Ymir and she is heavily associated with the god.[[/note]]
** Which is probably also an AscendedMeme and may qualify as an EasterEgg, given that in order to hear it, you not only have to actually have the Nuclear Winter skin (it's treasure chest-exclusive, thus requiring either a lot of luck or a lot of money), but you also have to kill an opposing Ymir while playing with the skin.
* CarryABigStick: Originally just a big chunk of ice, after his visual rework it's a metal club with ice clinging to it.
* ChargedAttack: His ultimate can be released early for reduced damage.
* {{Combo}}: Enemies hit by his abilities briefly take double damage from his club strikes. This pushes his damage from moderate to noticeable.
* DifficultButAwesome: The rest of his kit, Ice Wall and his ultimate Shards of Ice require much more nuance to pull off. Ice Wall requires a good amount of forethought to use well - it can save, split up and trap... allies ''and'' enemies. Shards of Ice's long casting time makes it rather unlikely to actually damage enemies in many cases due to them being able to jump away or even walk out of it despite its slowing effect, but its base damage and scaling is very appropriately compensated for this.
* DumbMuscle: He's not the brightest of the gods as you can tell by his speech.
* EvilLaugh: The completion of Shards of Ice has him let out a satisfied chuckle.
* HulkSpeak: Ymir smash you like a pancake!
* GeoEffects: Erects a large wall of ice from his... [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin Ice Wall ability]].
* HumanPopsicle: Done by him, which is pretty much the strongest stun in degree in the game.
* MightyGlacier: His spells can be rather painful towards enemy players, but speed has never been his good side. [[JustForPun That and the fact that he is almost literally a mighty, walking glacier.]]
* NotTheIntendedUse: With very high damage on his abilities for a tank, an extremely long stun, and a passive that doubles the damage of his basics, Ymir can pull off some very strong ganks. Hence, Jungle Ymir.
* OurGiantsAreBigger: A Frost Giant specifically.
* PiecesOfGod: Ymir's body was supposed to be used in the creation of Midgar.
* ThirdPersonPerson: Uses it in a few times, but not strictly so.

Valkyries, the elite and angelic warriors of the Nordic Pantheon, are as beautiful and dangerous as a midnight winter storm. Yet their queen, Freya, so irresistibly desirable, so uncompromising in warfare, make the Valkyries seem nothing more than plain paper dolls. She’s the object of desire for every God, every man, and the envy of every woman. Even the Frost Giants crave her for their own, often devising devious plans to trick or force her into marriage. But Freya is proud and strong, with the cunning to escape her enemies and ruthlessly retaliate. Every rose bears thorns, but this one wields swords.

Were it up to her, Freya would have little to do with blood and blades. Her name literally means “the lady,” and none of more worthy of the title. She adores bright flowers, pleasant company, and the sweet lilt of a sad love song. She’s sensual and amorous, invoked by worshipers seeking to bear a child or find a lover. Ruler of the realm of Sessrumnir, a place much like Valhalla, where the souls of dead warriors spend eternity, Freya provides comfort and bliss to the fallen.

Once, Freya was married to the mysterious and elusive God, Od. Immediately following their wedding, Od went on a journey to distant and inhospitable lands. So long was he gone the Gods presumed him dead. Distraught and heartbroken, Freya spilled tears of gold and searched the globe for him. Finally, she discovered him ship-wrecked and twisted into a hideous sea monster. Melancholy but loyal, she stayed and comforted him. Though one night, while she slept, a daring hunter slew the beast Od had become. Moved by Freya’s utter despair, the Gods agreed to allow Od into Sussrumnir, despite the fact he had not died in battle, so he and Freya could remain together forever.

Freya is classified as a Mage-type God, but plays much closer to an Assassin-type, considering her melee range and basic attack based damage. Her passive, ''Brisingamen's Blessing'', gives her 15% magical lifesteal. Her first ability, ''Irradiate'', is a simple steroid that adds magical damage to her basic attacks for five seconds. Her second ability, ''Pulse'', makes her basic attacks ranged, manifesting as orbs of light that explode in an area, dealing extra damage and slowing all targets hit. However, if both Irradiate and Pulse are active at the same time, the area of effect and slow are lost. Freya's third ability, ''Banish'', briefly lifts all enemies in the target area into the sky, making them immune to harm but unable to move or act. Using her ultimate, ''Valkyrie's Discretion'', Freya takes to the sky upon her Cloak of Feathers, untargettable and able to fire up to four powerful area blasts.

----

* AdaptationalModesty: {{Stripperiffic}} as Freya's design is, it's still quite a way removed from most classical depictions of her, where she's usually ''naked.''
* AnnoyingLaugh: Not a trait of hers normally, but in her Pixel Buster skin, she gains a capacity for incredibly obnoxious cackling.
* BraidsOfAction: A 50/50 of the trope, having the sides of her hair bundled (not braided) from the front but leaves the rest of her hair down long.
* ChainmailBikini
* ComboPlatterPowers: A joke of Freya has her say "Love, fertility, gold... is there anything I'm ''not'' the goddess of?". (Wikipedia describes her associated with "love, sexuality, beauty, fertility, gold, seiðr [A type of sorcery], war, and death", in case you were wondering)
* DeathFromAbove: Her ultimate has her use wings of light go into the air for a short duration to lob magic blasts on enemies below.
--> ''"To the skies!"''
* LightEmUp: Her Irradiate and Pulse abilities are signified by her sword becoming wreathed in bright Aurora Borealis-esque coloured light. Using Pulse causes her sword to shoot it. She barrages similarly looking blasts onto the battlefield below while using Valkyrie's Discretion.
* GlassCannon: Few gods can hope to duel Freya, but few fold as fast and easily by a coordinated effort as she does.
* LifeDrain: Receives a considerable amount of lifesteal from her passive.
* MagicKnight: One of the few magical melee deities (alongside post-rework Ao Kuang). Freya can temporarily turn her attack style into ranged [=AoE=] and played like a magical Hunter, and when Irradiate is active, she deals a lot of damage with her normal close range attack.
* MediumAwareness: As to be expected with her [[GamerGirl videogame-themed Pixel Buster skin]], which has her referring to wards as "noob radar" and asking you to buy more pots when purchasing consumables.
* MsFanservice: AdaptationalModesty aside, Freya still wears a very {{Stripperiffic}} battle gear. And it should be noted that she also handles ''love and beauty'' in the Norse Pantheon, much like Aphrodite in the Greek Pantheon.
** HelloNurse: In her Reveal trailer, a picture depicts that both Thor and Ymir want her marriage.
* ShoutOut: A joke of her's.
--> ''[[WhoFramedRogerRabbit I'm not naughty... I'm just rendered that way.]]''
** Also has several to classic videogames in her new Pixel Buster skin.
* TakeThat: In an unused joke line, she thinks Music/JustinBieber is Loki in disguise.
* Queen of the {{Valkyries}}: But you already knew that.

[[caption-width-right:250:[[http://hydra-media.cursecdn.com/smite.gamepedia.com/2/29/Hel_Intro.ogg "I awake from the darkness! (Hello everybody!)"]]]]

-> '''Voiced by:''' Creator/MonicaRial

Both beautiful and terrible, the Goddess Hel is keeper of the dead, lays judgment on souls, and decides who is reborn. She is both sides of two extremes.

As the daughter of Loki, the trickster God, Hel’s destiny, much like her brothers Fenrir and Jormungandr, was doomed to darkness from the start. Odin, the All-Father, uncovered prophecies that Hel and her siblings would be the source of great calamity resulting in Ragnarök, the battle that would end all things. In an effort to prevent this, he cast each of the three into different realms; not quite a prison, though far from freedom. For Hel, Odin gave her charge of the realm of the dead, specifically those that died of sickness and old age. For himself, Odin retained Valhalla for those that died in battle.

At birth, Hel’s face was cast half in shadow, half in light; she was both living and dead, so took immediately and graciously to her new role, gifting Odin with the ravens Huginn and Muninn in appreciation. As the spirits of the kind-hearted, the sick, the elderly were brought to her, she cared for them, gave them comfort, yet those she deemed evil she mercilessly hurled into the frozen depths of Niflheim.

Yet, despite Odin’s efforts, destiny cannot be averted. Hel’s conflicting struggle between benevolence and malice will force her to one extreme or the other. A time will come when Hel will fulfill her prophecy, though it is yet unknown if she will be a shadow of darkness or a force of light.

Hel is a dual stance, Mage-type God. Her passive, ''Stance Attunement'', offers bonuses after several seconds of staying in one stance. Instead of an ultimate, she has ''Switch Stances'', which switches her between Light Stance and Dark Stance with a low cooldown. Additionally, leveling up this ability gives Hel a passive bonus, half of which is shared with nearby allies. Hel's abilities have separate cooldowns between stances.

In Light Stance, ''Stance Attunement'' increases Hel's healing by up to 20%, while ''Switch Stances'' increases her and her allies' mana regeneration. Her first ability in this stance is ''Restoration'', firing a projectile that deals damage to the first enemy it hits and heals Hel. Her second ability, ''Cleanse'', targets an area of Hel's choosing, cleansing crowd control effects from all allies within and giving them a short immunity to further ones. Her third ability, ''Inspire'', heals all nearby allies and increases their speed for several seconds.

In Dark Stance, ''Stance Attunement'' increases Hel's damage by up to 20%, while ''Switch Stances'' increases her and her allies' magic power. Her first ability in this stance is ''Decay'', firing a projectile that explodes upon hitting an enemy, dealing damage to all affected targets. Her second ability, ''Hinder'', targets an area of Hel's choosing, briefly slowing all enemies within and reducing their magical protection. Her third ability, ''Repulse'', deals damage to all nearby enemies.

----
* ArtEvolution: One of many characters to receive a visual update.
* BloodKnight: Dark Hel is a wee bit too eager to rip her enemies apart. As such, she ''hates'' defensive items and berates Light Hel if she buys one.
-->'''Light Hel''': Always best to play it safe!\\
'''Dark Hel''': Sell it! Sell it! ''SELL IT NOW!!''
* CombatMedic: Even in light stance, her first ability deals damage and heals her at the same time.
* DarkIsNotEvil: Zig-zagged. Sure, she rules over the realm of the dead. However, Light Hel is one of the nicest goddesses in the game, kind of meek, even. Dark Hel, on the other hand, while she's far better in terms of malice and evilness than either her father or Thanatos, she's a bit too sadistic and scary when compared to the likes of Anubis or Hades. However, Dark Hel's sadism is mostly PlayedForLaughs.
* FemmeFatalons: Her dark side has this.
* [[MadScientistsBeautifulDaughter Mad Trickster God's Beautiful Daughter]]: Hel is notable of being the only humanoid child of Loki, whereas Fenrir is a wolf and the other one (who is not playable), Jormungandr, is a serpent. Fenrir is also evil like his dad, Hel... not so much, just extremely conflicted.
* PowerFloats: One of many.
* PrecisionFStrike: One of her jokes (toggled with V-E-J) has Light Hel suggest something completely out of the blue, to which Dark Hel cusses her for it.
-->'''Light Hel''': I know; we should make cookies!\\
'''Dark Hel''': Cookies? COOKIES?! WHAT THE F*CK IS WRONG WITH YOU!?
* PrettyInMink: Her light outfit is trimmed with white fur.
* SadlyMythtaken: Norse Mythology gives has one half of her face beautiful while the other half is a rotting corpse. She also lacks the multiple personalities in the myths. However, the game goes with it purely for RuleOfFunny.
* ShrinkingViolet: Light Hel has a very meek voice, kind of apologetic and is mostly a [[NiceGuy NiceGirl]] dedicated to protect others and just wants to bake cookies.
* SplitPersonality: Her gameplay revolves around switching between her light and dark sides.
** [[TalkingToThemself Her emotes reflect it as well]]. Rather humorously.
* StanceSystem: Light stance for support and healing, dark stance for debuffing and damage.
* TalkingToThemself: And their conversations are hilarious.
* TrashTalk: Dark Hel certainly enjoys doing it to both enemies ''and'' Light Hel.
* YinYangBomb: See above.

Mortals must rely on the wisdom of the Gods, but never forget they are fallible. They can be petty, churlish, and worst of all, wrong. What are the consequences for their mistakes? They should have slain the wolf-beast Fenrir, but they chose instead to bind him. Despite the warnings and prophecies he would tear Odin apart at Ragnorok and devour the earth and sky, they did not end Loki's son. Now, terror roams free. It is unknown how, but Fenrir is Unbound.

Thrice they tried to bind him, each time convincing Fenrir that the chains were nothing more than a challenge for his strength, a test to see if he could shatter them. The first two God-forged fetters were easily broken beneath the beast’s terrible power, but the third was a ribbon, dwarf made, and Fenrir grew suspicious of the God’s intentions. As a show of faith, he demanded one of them place a hand in his mouth, and if the ribbon proved magical in nature, he would exact punishment. Brave, if foolish, Tyr put his fist in Fenrir’s maw as the ribbon was secured to the wolf’s leg. Fenrir strained and screamed, but could not break free, and in rage, he devoured Tyr’s hand.

For a time, Fenrir was forgotten, the dire prophecy just a memory. But they were all warned and the Gods did nothing. Fenrir is hungry now, the first hunter, an alpha among sheep, but no flesh will satisfy his need. It is revenge he craves, and now he is Unbound.

Fenrir is an Assasin-type God. His passive, ''Unbound Runes'', activates a rune with every succesfull basic attack, empowering his next ability once he has five runes. Killing an enemy God will activate all runes at once. With his first ability, ''Unchained'', Fenrir leaps at a nearby area, damaging all enemies around his landing point and halving the cooldown if an enemy God is hit. If he has full runes, all enemies hit are stunned. His second ability, ''Seething Howl'', lets out a howl that increases Fenrir's attack damage and makes his basic attacks heal him for a percentage of the damage dealt for a few seconds. If he has full runes, these bonuses are increased. With his third ability, ''Brutalize'', Fenrir pounces to a nearby target location and, if there's an enemy in that area, he will hit them with four powerful strikes. If he has full runes, each strike damages all enemies near the target for a percentage of the damage dealt. With his ultimate ability, ''Ragnarok'', Fenrir grows to a massive size for a few seconds, making him immune to crowd control effects and greatly increasing his movement speed. During this duration, his next basic attack against an enemy God will be a powerful bite that will catch the target in his mouth and carry them with Fenrir until the duration ends, spitting them back. If he has full runes, he will gain bonus defensive stats while in his transformed state.

----
* AttackOfTheFiftyFootWhatever: He doesn't go {{Kaiju}}-sized for his ult, but he's still big enough to hold any god he catches in his jaws like a chew toy ''and'' run without difficulty regardless of said god/snack's own size or weight.
* AwesomeYetImpractical: His ultimate is this in spades. If you can manage to snatch someone with it and carry them back to your team, it spells nigh-guaranteed death for your helpless victim. However, many gods become CC immune while casting their ultimates, allowing them to simply activate them in response to Fenrir's. If this is not an option, there's also the popular active item Purification Beads which will allow someone to cancel Fenrir's ultimate and escape from it even ''after'' they've been grabbed.
** His Brutalize ability has also become this to a certain extent. While it has very high base damage for an ability, and hurts like hell early and mid game, it can be interrupted by almost any hard CC effect and cancelled by any jump ability; most gods have one or the other, some have both.
* BigEater: He eats. ''A lot''. And he likes it.
* CanisMajor: Fenrir, as he was in Norse mythology. He grows ''even bigger'' when his ultimate Ragnarok is active.
* EatenAlive: Implied in his victory animation, as he coughs up the amour and weapons on the soldiers, as well as the joke in the I'm A Humanitarian trope.
* GlassCannon: Until he's fed, Fenrir is incredibly weak from a defense standpoint, even all the way to the endgame if the enemy team even looks at him he'll be torn to shreds. His major defensive strength is that he both stacks and one of his abilities gives him a ton of lifesteal, and that a fed Fenrir can absolutely eviscerate all but the most tanky champions before they can kill him.
* HeroKiller: Stated to be the one to slay Odin. Fenrir is one of the more evil deities, so he's more than likely try to fulfill that.
* LifeDrain: He has an ability which provides him with some free life steal for its duration.
* [[IncredibleShrinkingMan Incredible Shrinking Wolf-God]]: His death animation has him shrink to the size of a mouse, complete with his despaired howl/whimper becoming a comical squeak, before keeling over.
* ImAHumanitarian: Fenrir's ultimate has him grow huge and eat the first enemy champion he attacks, then he spits them out after the time runs down and he returns to normal. And his winning animation has him hack up the armor and weapons of some soldiers he's eaten. His joke also pokes fun on this.
-->''"I like to be petted. On the stomach. From the inside!"''
* JackOfAllStats: In spite of his lower tier, as pointed out in [[http://www.smitecentral.com/content/articles/page/features/the-underrated-episode-3-fenrir this article]], Fenrir is in fact very versatile for an offensive God, he has crowd control, he has TWO gap closers (thus good mobility) and an attack steroid that also offers sustain that makes him a nightmare in dueling. The only problem is a lot play him just as a skill-based Assassin, like happily jumping headlong with Unchained, and then hope to kill the enemy with Brutalize, sacrificing his mobility for an all-in, which is more likely used for a CrutchCharacter (strong early game, insignificant late game)
* ShoutOut:
-->''"[[Film/AustinPowers Get. In. My. Belly!!]]"''
** Their kits may be different, but Fenrir probably takes a lot of cue from [[VideoGame/LeagueOfLegends Warwick]], being a [[SavageWolves Savage Wolf]] with LifeDrain as their sustain method and often a pick for junglers. Not to mention they have an [[AnIcePerson ice-based]] alternate skin. They're also one of the more evil characters in their games.

Villain. It’s a word used to describe those that break the rules, that take what they want, and care nothing for those hurt along the way. Loki, the trickster God, would say villainy is nothing more than a point of view.

The point of view of fools too mindless to seize opportunity.

Of course, with Loki now on the loose, the implications are dire. The end of times may be at hand. The final battle, Ragnarok, possibly on the horizon, for it was foretold that Loki would break free of his prison and herald the horrific final battle that would leave the Gods slain, the heavens sundered, and the world in ashes. None are more eager for that time of chaos than Loki.

Before his confinement, Loki’s malicious mischief managed to affect every God in ways both beneficial and terrible. Yet Loki’s most heinous act was in the death of the God of light, Baldr.

Baldr’s prophetic dreams showcased his own death. Fearful for her son, Frigg, forced all objects of the world to swear never to harm him. All save mistletoe. Cruelly amused, Loki forged a spear from the plant and provided it to Baldr’s brother Hodr. The Gods had a new favorite game, hurling objects at Baldr and laughing as they harmlessly ricocheted. So Hodr threw the spear, but, to everyone’s horror Baldr was impaled. Hel agreed to release Baldr from the underworld if all creatures of the world mourned the God of Light. And all did, save one crone who refused. So Baldr died.

When it was discovered the crone was Loki in disguise, the furious Gods bound him in entrails and hung a venomous serpent overhead. Loki’s wife, Sigyn, collected the dripping venom in a bowl, but when she was forced to empty it, Loki was struck, causing such anguish his thrashing would shake the world.

But now Loki is free and already wreaking havoc. If the prophetic Volva are correct, and they always are, then the end of all things has finally come.

Loki is an Assassin-type god. His passive, ''Behind You'', increases the damage of his attacks whenever he is behind his target. His first ability, ''Vanish'', makes Loki become invisible, faster moving and resistant to damage, for up to 4s or until he attacks. His first attack from stealth or up to 2s after will cause a strong damage over time effect. His second ability, ''Decoy'', creates a stationary illusion of Loki that dances and taunts nearby minions into attacking itself, before exploding and dealing damage. Loki's third ability, ''Aimed Strike'', is a steroid that adds a lot of damage and a slow effect onto his next attack. Loki's ultimate, ''Assassinate'', teleports him to a target area. If an enemy god is with in the area, Loki will attack them, dealing a lot of damage and stunning them briefly.
----
* {{Backstab}}: Granted bonus damage for performing these, also uses it for his ultimate.
* CaptainErsatz: Many players have noted similarities between him and [[LeagueOfLegends Shaco]] or [[VideoGame/{{Dota 2}} Riki and Gondar]] in terms of gameplay and abilities.
* CampGay: Seems to be the gist of one of his jokes, in which he describes how he once had Thor put on a dress, resulting in him looking "absolutely fabulous!" Might reference his slender figure, as even the game's other [[FragileSpeedster fragile speedsters]] like Apollo and Mercury tend to still have well-defined muscles; Loki, not so much.
* DualWielding: Two daggers, held icepick style.
* FlashStep: Performs one for his ultimate.
* ForTheEvulz: His main reason for wanting to start the end of the world.
* GlassCannon: Loki has the highest single target burst in the game. Once that's done, he has limited escape options and barely any survivability.
* {{Invisibility}}: Loki is the only one who has this ability, and is favored and dreaded within pub matches for this thing... because unlike other MOBA games, Smite provides zero invisibility detection. [[SkillGateCharacter A seasoned player can still come up with ways to prevent this, though, while realizing that Loki doesn't always depend on invisibility to succeed.]]
** Not quite the only one, as Nu Wa and Serqet also have abilities that grant invisibility, but theirs is very conditional; Loki's form of invisibility is [[SimpleYetAwesome still by far the most practical.]]
* KillSteal: With his invisibility, teleport, and extreme burst mentioned above, Loki is notorious with some players for his ability to do this, literally appearing out of nowhere at the end of a fight to finish off the enemy.
* KnifeNut: BOY, does he love to use his knifes!
* SchmuckBait: His Decoy ability, though only the NPC minions and towers fall for it.
* TheTrickster: [[CaptainObvious You don't say.]]

Thor, as famous as he is bold, is God of the thundering sky. Yet his hammer, Mjolnir is nearly as famous as he is, and Thor will not be parted from it.

Odin, the All-Father, bore many children, but none as well known nor as mighty as Thor, who had the strength to move mountains and the power to call lightning from the sky. Despite these incredible gifts, Thor’s enemies were cunning, bloodthirsty, and numerous. The Frost Giants constantly threatened to invade Asgard requiring every ounce of Thor’s near limitless strength just to keep them at bay. Had the tide truly turned, Asgard might have been destroyed, but a simple prank played by the treacherous Loki ended with the creation of Mjolnir, the legendary hammer, and with it, Thor utterly crushed the Frost Giants.

Sif, Thor’s wife, had hair like rays of sun through a cloudy sky, and Loki, being covetous, secretly sheared it off while she slept. Mad with fury, Thor demanded Loki fix this. So, Loki went to the dwarves of Ivaldi who forged a golden crown that would grow equally golden hair, a spear that never missed its mark, and a ship that would never sink. Proud of his treasures, Loki returned to Thor and the other Gods, gave the crown to Sif, then bragged that no greater items could be forged.

The dwarf Brokk took offense to this and claimed that he and his brother could do better. Loki bet his head they could not. So, Brokk and his brother forged three items, a ring that made a duplicate every nine days, a golden pig that could fly and swim, and the hammer, Mjolnir, with the power to shatter mountains. As each item was forged, Brokk was bitten fiercely by a fly, yet only on the third did he flinch, causing the short handle on the hammer. When they were done, the dwarves took their artifacts before the Gods and decried Loki’s fly disguise. All the Gods agreed that Brokk and his brother had forged greater items. Loki, ever cunning, declared his neck was not part of the bargain, denying them his head.

Mjolnir went to Thor to battle the Frost Giants. Proud and mighty, Thor beat back the evil horde and continues to defend Asgard to this day. With Mjolnir in hand, Thor is an unstoppable force that even other Gods would do well to avoid.

Thor used to be a Warrior-type God, but was later reclassified as Assassin-type. His passive is ''Warrior's Madness'', increasing his power for every enemy god nearby. His first ability, ''Mjolnir's Attunement'', makes him throw his hammer forward, then fly back, hitting enemies along the way. An enemy can be struck twice in a single throw - a minion will only take half damage on the second hit, but a god will take double. Additionally, at any point Thor can use the ability again to instantly teleport to Mjolnir's location. His second ability, ''Tectonic Rift'', makes him slam the hammer into the ground, creating a rocky fissure in a line directly ahead of him. Any enemy god touched by the power when activated will be stunned. Additionally, the fissure itself acts as a narrow wall, blocking movement and projectiles. Thor's third ability, ''Berserker's Barrage'', makes him spin wildly, striking all nearby targets, dealing damage. He is immune to knockup for the duration. Using his ultimate, ''[[VideoGames/GearsOfWar Anvil of Dawn]]'', Thor spins Mjolnir up, then leaps into the air, giving him a perfect view of the battlefield and letting him pick a target area of his choosing. Then, he crashes, Mjolnir-first, into the target area, stunning and damaging all enemy gods there.

----
* BadassBeard: Thor has a tidy beard and moustache.
* CrutchCharacter: His base damage, mobility and utility make him a terrifying thing to be gunning for you earlier in the game... but his damage won't stay that way if his enemies manage to maintain a fairly equal footing regardless.
* DefectorFromDecadence: In the comics, Thor opposes Odin about his plan to subjugate humanity and fights to protect them.
* DropTheHammer: Mjolnir as to be expected.
* DynamicEntry: Anvil of Dawn is a prime example.
* HeavyMetal: An alternate skin called, appropriately enough, "Heavy Metal."
* InNameOnly: A bit. His title is 'God of Thunder', but Thor's abilities revolve more about [[DropTheHammer bashing his Mjolnir to the enemy]] rather than generating lightning (that goes to Zeus). Still, lightning definitely surround Mjolnir whenever it's in action.
* PrecisionGuidedBoomerang: Mjolnir's Attunement will home onto him on the return.
* RedheadedHero: True to the original myth.
* ShockAndAwe: Averted. Despite being a god of thunder, not a single of his abilities make much use of it.
* ShouldersOfDoom: One of the few examples of shoulderpads being so impractical.
* ShoutOut: His passive is named [[TheMightyThor Warrior's Madness]]. His lore also takes pains to emphasize how Mighty Thor is.
* SpinAttack: Thor's [[VideoGame/MarvelVsCapcom Berserker Barrage]] ability does this over its duration, with the added bonus of being immune to knockups at the same time.
* TakeThat: Oe of his jokes is: "Fine armor this... Why anyone thinks four dinner plates upon my chest would offer any protection eludes me.", referencing the TheMightyThor outfit.

[[folder: Ullr, The Glorious One]]

[[caption-width-right:250:[[http://hydra-media.cursecdn.com/smite.gamepedia.com/b/b5/Ullr_Intro_3.ogg "Today, glory will be ours!"]]]]

-> '''Voiced by:''' Bill Jenkins

Amongst the snow-capped forests of the frigid north resides the hunter-God of Glory, Ullr. Reserved, secretive, Ullr does not represent the tankard downing, boast bellowing contemporaries of the Norse Pantheon, but pays respectful tribute to glory in all its forms.

Glory is in the silence of snowfall, in the honorable victory earned from single combat, in the perfect curve of a yew bow firing an arrow true. Dotted across the lands of the Faithful, shrines to Ullr can be found in remote, secluded hideaways. It is there that glory is found in the sanctity of a vow, once sworn, never broken, and bound by a ring, no matter how crude, then buried in the earth to weather the ages of time.

Though rarely spoken of, he is highly regarded, even among the Gods, for it is Ullr, not one of Odin’s sons that tends the throne of Asgard while the All Father is away. Other Gods might use the opportunity to abuse the power, but Ullr’s rule is merely an extension thereof. So much so that only the innermost circle even know that Odin is gone.

All the more noticeable is it, then, that Ullr has abandoned this post to join the fray. Early on did Odin take the field of battle, leaving Ullr to manage the kingdom. So great a threat must this war be as to endanger the very survival of Asgard. Whatever the reason, Ullr comes to preserve glory, which, for him, may be the whole world.

Ullr is a dual stance, Hunter-type God. His passive, ''Weapon Master'', reduces the cooldowns of all abilities in his one stance whenever he uses an ability from the other one. Instead of an ultimate, he has ''Wield Axes'' / ''Wield Bows'', which switches him between Melee Stance and Raged Stance with a low cooldown. Additionally, leveling up this ability gives Ullr a passive bonus. Ullr's abilities have separate cooldowns between stances.

In Ranged Stance, ''Wield Bow'' increases Ullr's attack speed. His first ability in this stance is ''Bladed Arrow'', which fires an arrow that passes through all enemies in its path, dealing damage. His second ability, ''Expose Weakness'', is a simple steroid which increases his physical power by up to 50% for 5s. His third ability, ''Hail of Arrows'', fires a volley of arrows at a target location, dealing damage to all enemies in the small area.

In Melee Stance, ''Wield Axe'' increases Ullr's physical lifesteal. His first ability in this stance is ''Throw Axe'', which throws a slow-moving axe forward, dealing damage and stunning the first enemy hit. His second ability, ''Invigorate'', is a simple steroid which increases his speed by up to 40% for 5s. His third ability, ''Glory Bound'', makes Ullr leap at a target location, dealing damage to all enemies in the moderate area.

----
* AnAxeToGrind: He dual wields them in his hunter stance, turning him into a melee character.
* BadassBeard: You can't be a Viking God without a beard!
* BowAndSwordInAccord: Well, it's more like Bow and Axe in accord. If his arrows doesn't do the trick, he'll run up to you and chop you to pieces instead.
* {{Combos}}: Encouraged to use these by his passive.
* DifficultButAwesome: One of the biggest examples in SMITE. His Throw Axe ability has a long stun that sets an enemy up for him to deal a lot of burst damage, but it's a narrow, slow-moving skillshot; not only that, but after it hits, you have to switch back to bow stance, aim, and fire his other damaging abilities very quickly in order to land them before the stun ends. His Hail of Arrows ability has excellent scaling and a very long range, but it is also a small AoE with a significant delay before hitting, making it tough to aim quickly and/or against moving targets. If you can handle his skillshots and combos, though, he's very strong.
* DualWielding: In axe stance.
* InTheHood: To perfect his "Norse hunter" look.
* LifeDrain: Passively gains this when using his axes.
* LightningBruiser: He is often built this way.
* RainOfArrows: Or rather, "Hail of Arrows." Fits his winter theme a bit more.
* ShoutOut: [[LordOfTheRings "You have my sword, and you have my bow and my axe!"]]. Strange when you consider that he doesn't have a sword.
* StanceSystem: Switches (semi) freely between his bow for damage and wave clear, and his axes for a stun, escape and lifesteal.
* [[ThrowingYourSwordAlwaysWorks Throwing Your Axe Always Works]]: Justified for him since they are more like hatchets than large battle axes. Of course, even for the other characters that throw melee weapons, it could just be [[HandWave hand waved]] by the fact that they're gods.
* WeaponTwirling: In the animations for his basic attacks while wielding his axes.
* YouWillNotEvadeMe: He sometimes says this verbatim when using his abilities. His taunts also go with this:
--> "My bow and blades will find you!"
--> "When the cold closes in, where will you hide?"
--> "Like the winter, you cannot run from me!"
