* ChuckCunninghamSyndrome: Most Skylanders only get a toy for one, maybe two releases and that's it; though old toys can be used in newer games. This is especially true for "gimmick" Skylanders such as Giants and Trap Masters, who by their very nature will never be re-released. Notably averted in games, however, as every Skylander is playable in every game past its release.
* ElementalPowers: Each Skylander belongs to one of ten elements: [[BlowYouAway Air]], [[DishingOutDirt Earth]], [[MakingASplash Water]], [[PlayingWithFire Fire]], [[FunctionalMagic Magic]], [[GadgeteerGenius Tech]], [[GreenThumb Life]], [[TheUndead Undead]], [[LightEmUp Light]], and [[CastingAShadow Dark]].

Ever since he was a young dragon, Bash has wished to fly. In an attempt to build up enough momentum to do so, he learned how to curl into a ball and roll at incredible speed. This training has toughened his skin into natural armor, but hasn't gotten him airborne as he'd hoped.

* {{Balloonacy}}: [[PunnyName Birthday Bash]], an alter ego in ''Lost Islands'' uses a large cluster of helium balloons to finally get airborne.
* BerserkButton: Bash really doesn't like having the fact he can't fly mentioned.
* BewareMyStingerTail: It's got a spiked ball at its end, and as a ChargedAttack, it packs THE strongest wallop per hit of any (non-Giant) Skylander.
* CarryABigStick: His tail has a mace head on it, making it act like one. One of the upgrades on his "Granite Dragon" path is even named "Mace of Destruction".
* DinosaursAreDragons: Officially a dragon, but has a lot of saurian characteristics. Lampshaded with his Soul Gem upgrade, which gives him a triceratops helmet.
* DishingOutDirt: One of his powers has him making ''giant fists'' made of stone. He can also smack these around, making them like a projectile.
* EverythingsBetterWithSpinning: With a RollingAttack ''and'' a SpinAttack.
* InstantAwesomeJustAddDragons: Representing the Earth element.
* RollingAttack: One of his main attacks is to roll into enemies.
* SpinAttack: He can swing his tail to attack in a short distance around him.
* SpinToDeflectStuff: His first upgrade allows him to deflect shots with his Tail Swipe.

Like most trolls, Boomer loves to [[StuffBlowingUp blow things up]]. But he wasn't interested in the trolls' war of conquest, so he turned against his kin and now blows stuff up FOR JUSTICE!

* ArtificialLimbs: WordOfGod claims his hands and feet are cybernetic, [[NoodleIncident due to an accident.]]
* CartoonBomb: His troll bombs are styled like this.
* ChargedAttack: The final upgrade of his "Clobber Troll" path is the ability to charge up his ground slam for an extra-damage slam.
* DelayedExplosion: Weaponized with one of his upgrades, which allows him to delay the explosion of a thrown dynamite stick. Helps for getting slightly more range out of a toss or for baiting enemies.
* GroundPunch: His secondary attack is slamming his fists on the ground to create a shockwave.
* HeelFaceTurn: Was originally in the troll army, but defected.
* MadBomber: He's a ''good'' version however.
** This is apparently a common trait among trolls. According to a scroll found in game, all their games are for some reason called "Boom!". Boomer just takes this trope UpToEleven as far as his species goes.
* MySpeciesDothProtestTooMuch: The trolls' love of war and conquest didn't sit well with him. So he saved a town from the trolls and defected. He's apparently the only troll to ever earn the honor of being a Skylander.
* AllTrollsAreDifferent: Trolls in the ''Skylanders'' universe tend to be associated with technology and explosives. Boomer is light on the former, but ''very'' heavy on the latter.
* ShockwaveStomp: The result of his slamming attack. It can be upgraded to stun on his "Clobber Troll" upgrade path.
* ThrowDownTheBomblet: Has access to both sticks of dynamite and troll bombs.
* ViolationOfCommonSense: In the book Machine of Doom, he tries to drown out Gill Grunt's singing by using sticks of dynamite as earplugs....

* BreathWeapon: He spits life energy that take the shape of balls of lights.

* DeployableCover: His melon ring can double as a shield, since it surrounds him and causes him to briefly hide underground. The final upgrade on his "Melon Master" path encourages this by allowing the melon ring to be held indefinitely.
* EdibleAmmunition: He can unlock the ability to grow a ring of melons around him, which proceed to launch out and blow up upon contact with an enemy.
* GreenThumb: He has the ability to make plants grow [[StuffBlowingUp explosively]] fast.
* HealThyself: Get three of his BreathWeapon projectiles to circle around him at once and his HP will regenerate for a short time.
* HybridMonster: Dragon/Plant
* InstantAwesomeJustAddDragons: Representing the Life element.
* OrbitingParticleShield: After acquiring his Soul Gem upgrade, holding the attack button down allows up to three of his BreathWeapon projectiles to orbit around him for protection.
* PlantPerson: A plant-dragon hybrid, shown by his green coloration and leaf tail.
* ThePrankster: A rather notorious one, in-universe. Likes to use his plant powers for mayhem.
* StuffBlowingUp: Camo's secondary attack is to lay down a vine of exploding ''melons''. One of his upgrade paths specializes in improving it, allowing him to quickly lay down a large string of explosives in front of him.

Created by the ancient Arkeyans with a fusion of technology and undead magic, Chop Chop is a skilled warrior with an indestructible shield. He has spent centuries looking for the vanished Arkeyans before being recruited as a Skylander.

* AudibleSharpness: His sword makes a noticeable metallic sound every time it's swung; to say nothing of when it actually hits something.
* AttackReflector: An innate ability of his shield.
* BadassGrandpa: Being an Arkeyan, he's close to being 10,000 years old.
* {{BFS}}: Should you take his "Vampiric Warrior" path, his sword eventually becomes as large as himself.
* CoolSword: It's even explicitly stated to be indestructible.
* CounterAttack: On his "Undead Defender" path, he gains the ability to absorb damage with his shield, then release it by using his shield bash.
* DarkIsNotEvil: Like with other Undead Skylanders, but applies double due to him being an [[AbusivePrecursors Arkeyan]] creation.
* DualWielding: His Series 3 Wow Pow lets him replace his shield with a second CoolSword.
* DemBones: One that's at least partially artificial.
* FriendToAllChildren: Played with. While he at least tries to be by using his shield to go take children sledging, their screams make it unclear if they actually like it or not.
* TheLeader: For the Undead element.
* LifeDrain: One of his upgrades gives him a chance of recovering health when attacking enemies with his sword.
* LuckilyMyShieldWillProtectMe: His shield can block attacks and reflect projectiles, but he can only hold it up for so long.
* {{Magitek}}: The Arkeyans are said to have found the connection between technology and magic, and Chop Chop is a demonstration of that.
* MySpeciesDothProtestTooMuch: To the Arkeyans.
* ShieldBash: An early upgrade allows him to do this while his shield's up, thanks to a spike being added to the front. On the "Undead Defender" path, it can be upgraded to stun as well.

* ChainLightning: His Wow Pow upgrade allows his Eldritch Beam to chain to different foes.
* CoolMask: A huge tribal mask.
* CloneDegeneration: His clones are much smaller than him. And explosive.
* ExpendableClone: They serve as his secondary attack, even.
* IJustWantToHaveFriends: His reason for not getting mad when the lily's ability backfired by multiplying him instead of his magic spell's power is because he was incredibly lonely, prior to that event.
* MesACrowd: he can create many doubles of himself, though they don't have the same abilities as him and are mostly mobile explosives.
* ShoutOut: In ''Giants'', he sings the "level complete" music from ''VideoGame/SuperMarioBros'' after defeating a large slew of Mooks.

* GadgeteerGenius: Drobot built his suit of PoweredArmor himself using some lost technology he came across and his backstory implies he tinkered around a good bit beforehand.
* InstantAwesomeJustAddDragons: Representing the Tech element.
* PinballProjectile: Drobot's Bladegears bounce off of walls, even without upgrades. They can also be upgraded into exploding bladegears.
* PlayerGuidedMissile: Drobot's "Wow Pow" ability is a large remote-controlled Bladegear.
* PowerGlows: The orange orb on [=LightCore=] Drobot's pack lights up.
* PoweredArmor: Laser blasts, spinning gear projectiles, a robotic voice, and jet-powered flight thrusters. It's unclear whether Drobot actually ''has'' any wings underneath that armor.
** His official bio implies he does, just that they're covered under flight enhancement technology.
* ShoutOut: To ShootEmUp games. His "Hover Mode" upgrade even allows him to fly while facing in one direction, just like in a VerticalScrollingShooter!

Gill Grunt is a gillman soldier who met a beautiful mermaid during one tour of duty. He kept a promise to return to her after his tour, but she had been kidnapped by pirates in the meantime. He continues to search for her, and has become a Skylander to put a stop to such evil.

* AbnormalAmmo: His Water Weaver upgrade path lets him shoot ''exploding starfish'' at enemies.
* AnchorsAway / ChargedAttack: After acquiring his Soul Gem upgrade, hold the attack button to ready a large ship anchor instead of the usual harpoons.
* ArtEvolution: In his offical artwork for series two on, his jaw seems to be less prominent, and his eyes appear rounder.
** ProngsOfPoseidon: His Wow Pow upgrade changes the anchor into a SpreadShot of tridents for a three-way attack.
* BottomlessMagazines: Initially averted with his water backpack, which has limited but regenerating water supply. Played straight once he gets the "Reserve Water Tank" upgrade in his Water Weaver path.

As a member of the Trap Team, Bushwhack wields his mighty Traptanium axe to cut down evil wherever it grows!

* DemotedToExtra: Appears in the introductory scene of ''Giants'' to give the Skylanders their mission, but doesn't come along on the adventure. Similarly, he only appears in the opening cinematics of ''Swap Force'' and ''Trap Team'' to spout a bit of exposition, then vanish.
* HalfDressedCartoonAnimal: Odd when compared to the other [=NPCs=], such as Flynn, Cali and some Mabu villagers.

The greatest pilot in all of Skylands, or so he claims. He uses these skills to assist the Skylanders, though he spends more time bragging about himself and hitting on Cali.

* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: For all his bragging and problems, Flynn actually ''could'' be one of the best pilots in all of Skylands, leaping into danger head-on with the Skylanders on many occasions(Provided he's in a gunboat of some kind). He helps you navigate a small fighter through a really tight tunnel system in ''Giants'' and pilots a gunboat to help you take out Anti-aircraft weaponry several times in ''Trap Team''.
* StraightManAndWiseGuy: Depends on who he's around. He's the wise guy to Cali, and the StraightMan to Tessa.
* GladIThoughtOfIt: It was Cali's idea that Flynn needs a propeller for his air balloon.
* HypocriticalHumor: His opinion of credits:
-> I don't know, the whole thing seems kind of egotistical, to me. I mean, you don't see ''me'' walking around bragging about all the great things I've done.
* IndyPloy: Comes up several times in ''Swap Force'', as Flynn's favorite battle plan is seemingly "wing it". [[IncrediblyLamePun Which is appropriate, him being an]] AcePilot and all.

* SomethingOnlyTheyWouldSay: In ''Giants'', Flynn tries to not reveal his identity to the Pirates who hold a grudge against him, but he eventually lets his CatchPhrase slip and they identify him. Cue a mad scramble to get back to their ship.
* ShutUpHannibal: Gets one during Kaos' post defeat rant at the end. Cali approved.
* ThrowTheDogABone: In the end, after trying to impress Cali all game and [[CasanovaWannabe failing]], he finally manages to get her approval by giving Kaos a ShutUpHannibal.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Enchiladas. So much that sharing enchiladas with another individual is an "unbreakable bond".

A self-proclaimed tough girl. After being rescued by the Skylanders early in ''Spyro's Adventure'', she takes on the role of their personal trainer, overseeing the Heroic Challenges.

* DistressedDamsel: In ''Spyro's Adventure'', she gets captured by Kaos's army of Drow. In ''Swap Force'' (3DS version), Count Moneybone captures Cali and makes her his evil Undead minion. And in ''Trap Team'', the Golden Queen turns Cali into a gold statue. And at the start of ''[=SuperChargers=]'', she, along with Flynn, Hugo, and Master Eon, are captured by Kaos.
* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes: She has no love of spiders, going by her comments when a Heroic Challenge involves them.

The fairy from whom you buy new abilities for your characters.
