* OffModel: During the first season, in many scenes T.J. is missing his eye highlights. This could possibly be the reason why they were removed in the first season.

* JerkassBall: There are some episodes where they grip it tightly, but in "Here Comes Mr. Perfect" they all grip it together when they become [[BecameTheirOwnAntithesis huge bullies]] to Jared when he unintentionally beats them at everything. They even have a NeverMyFault moment when Jared reminds them that they brought this own themselves.

** Due to his father being an [[{{SemperFi}} Marine Corps]] officer, he's quite talented at military games and at times surprisingly quite athletic, as well as once helping his dad thwart a plan to ''crash the global economy'' while on a skiing trip. In addition, he often identifies civilian and military vehicles by name and designation on sight.

* SingingVoiceDissonance: His singing voice sounds absolutely nothing like his speaking voice -- to be specific, it sounds like the rich baritone of Music/RobertGoulet.

* BareYourMidriff: Briefly in "The Break-up" when she becomes "Spinooti", queen of the kindergartners.

* BerserkButton:
** Four words: Don't. Mess. With. Recess. Or messing with his fun in general. [[ItsPersonal Which is the reason why he went and thwarted the evil plans to get rid of summer vacation]] in TheMovie.
** While he doesn't go "berserk" he gets very pissed if he's made to take his hat off against his own will, or called fat and/or ugly.

* BerserkButton: She has a few.
** Don't EVER refer to her by her first name.
** Messing with her hat. Prickly was lucky that Gretchen was able to talk Spinelli out of it.

* EmbarrassingFirstName: She's embarrassed by her real name, so much to the point where being addressed by it is a BerserkButton of hers. She actually does like her first name, but thanks to The Ashleys' rule mandating that anyone named Ashley must join them, she had to hide her first name so that she wouldn’t have to join.

* LetsGetDangerous: When his BerserkButton is pushed too far.

* TookALevelInDumbass: In season one, he was pretty average. In season two, he became more BookDumb. In the middle of season three, he became TheDitz.

** Gretchen and T.J. speak to each other on a few occasions.

* GrumpyBear: She's pretty grouchy most of the time. She is also smart-mouthed and very cynical for a nine-year-old girl in a SliceOfLife elementary-school setting.

* CoolLoser: [[InvertedTrope Inverted]]. T.J. is HollywoodPudgy, Gretchen looks {{Geek}}y, Spinelli is a GrumpyBear with a HairTriggerTemper, Mikey is an ExtremeDoormat, and Gus is a LovableCoward. The only group member without any "loser" traits is Vince. And yet, these six children are the most popular kids in school, as shown in episodes like "Randall's Reform" or "Lawson and his Crew."

* StereotypicalNerd: Gus Griswald is the NewTransferStudent who finds himself ostracized and bullied when he first arrives in episode 2. Personality wise, he's naturally timid, shy, and a bit [[NerdsAreInnocent naive]] due to his relatively sheltered life being a MilitaryBrat with a strict dad. Appearance wise, he has the quintessential NerdGlasses along with the beige button down, belted khaki pants, exposed socks, and loafers to complete the overall look.

* AwesomeMcCoolname: His full name is Gustav Film/{{Patton}} Griswald.

* {{Nerd}}: Her default characteristic. She's a straight-A student with advanced vocabulary who practices science experiments [[NerdyNasalness and speaks like her nose is clogged up]].

* SicklyNeuroticGeek: She has the sick voice, but that's about it.

** On the other hand, Spinelli's skin tone is also found on Southern Italians (Silicians, specifically) and Wiki/ThatOtherWiki has established that Spinelli's family (possibly her father's side, as he has really dark hair and almost the same skin tone as his daughter, and her mother looks like she could be white European) is Italian (right down to Spinelli's penchant for fighting, which comes from the stereotype of the hot-blooded Italian) so either Spinelli's mom isn't really her mom, Spinelli's mom being a redhead is an ActorAllusion to Creator/KateySagal [who played Peggy Bundy -- a redheaded housewife who wore tacky 1960s housewife clothes and has a big bouffant, like Spinelli's mom does -- on ''Series/MarriedWithChildren''], Spinelli's mom dyes her hair, or Spinelli takes after her father more than her mother (which further reinforces Spinelli's aversion to all things she thinks are for girly-girls).

* AbandonedCatchphrase: In the early episodes (and in a Creator/ToonDisney advertisement), he would often say "Sounds good to me", but this was later dropped. He also often says, "All my life, [insert something here]"

* AllOfTheOtherReindeer: Mikey Blumberg is a nice guy. Unfortunately there are kids who dislike Mikey because he can come across as too nice and because he can be a bit of a ExtremeDoormat; a lot of kids take advantage of that and push him around. In the season 4 episode "Rumor Mill", Mikey had to turn the tables on his tormentors by starting a rumor about him losing his temper over another kid spilling his popcorn.

* CampStraight: He possesses an interest in characteristically feminine hobbies like poetry, dancing, and ballet, but is shown to have a PrecociousCrush on his art teacher, Miss Salamone.
