* MsFanservice: Her outfit is made to show off her figure, and her figure certainly gets a lot of attention.
* {{Mukokuseki}}: Though her lineage hasn't been touched upon, she has a Chinese name, despite being tall, blonde-haired, buxom, and purple-eyed. It should be mentioned there probably is no China in the show's setting.
* MusclesAreMeaningless: She certainly doesn't ''look'' like someone with SuperStrength.
* NobodyTouchesTheHair: Both times so far that her hair's gotten damaged (in her trailer, and then again in Episode 6) are the only times she's gone into a blind rage.
* NotQuiteFlight: After being launched into the air Yang can use her weapons to significantly prolong her flight time.
* OlderThanSheLooks: She doesn't look like she's old enough to be in a club, but then again, she doesn't look like she could punch you through a wall either. Word Of God puts Ruby at 15, starting classes at Beacon 2 years early, and the other 3 girls are 17.
* OneWomanWail: In the trailer version. After the preceding three remixes, this denotes the transition to her own unique segment of the song. Curiously, this part was also from "Mirror, Mirror".
* OnlyFriend: Averts the trope. Ruby says that she's fine with Yang being her only friend at Beacon, but Yang knows that's an unhealthy way for Ruby to think and encourages her to socialize.
* OutOfFocus: In Volume 1 she received fewer scenes than the other members of RWBY and was the only one without any noticeable character development.
* PlayingWithFire: Her Semblance, which she uses as a sort of SuperMode to power up her punches and shotgun rounds.
* ThePowerOfTheSun: Her overall motif. [[MeaningfulName Her name means "Sun"]], she has PlayingWithFire abilities, and her two themes of "I Burn" and "Gold" are respectively about her burning power and her warm heart being compared to the sun.

* RapunzelHair: Her BerserkButton toward her hair is highly unfortunate for her enemies, because her hair is quite voluminous and long enough to go down to her waist.

* RedEyesTakeWarning: Even some [[AlwaysChaoticEvil Creatures of Grimm]] know they've gone a little too far when this happens.
* RocketJump: How she makes her way to the DJ in her trailer.

* SchmuckBait: "Let's kiss and make up, okay?"
* SexyWalk: Yang knows how to work them hips, most noticeable when she enters the club.
* SheFu: In addition to her fists, she's more likely to use her legs to take down enemies than the other girls.
* ShesGotLegs: She wears stockings, but they're short enough that they still show off her legs.
* ShockwaveStomp: With her fists, naturally.
* ShoutOut: Her moves and yellow hair are supposed to evoke [[Anime/DragonballZ a specific manly anime]]. Her theme song even describes her as "Super Saiyan" at one point.
** At the end of her battle with Junior she unleashes a combo which looks a lot like [[HajimeNoIppo Dempsey Roll]].

* SuperMode: She can power up at will, although she actually seems to have two modes. Her eyes change colour and her hair becomes fiery. The second mode seems to turn her hair to white flame.
* SuperRugPull: Despite being made of glass, the dance floor uncharacteristically flexes to [[ShockwaveStomp the shockwave]], rather than shattering on impact.
* SuperStrength: She sends Junior across the room ''before'' activating her gauntlets. However, it is shown that she did used a shotgun shell while punching him. Apparently, her gauntlets can be used in compact mode just like Ruby's rifle. She is still freaky strong though.
* SoProudOfYou: To Ruby, for getting into Beacon two years early and for becoming the team leader of RWBY.
** Has one private moment with this as she looks on at Ruby leading the other main characters back to the cliff.
* TurnsRed: When she really gets into her fighting, she develops a fiery Battle Aura, her hair turns more fiery, and she fights much harder.
* UnorthodoxReload: Throws a belt of ammunition in the air before swinging her gauntlets back into them.
* WhoWearsShortShorts: Which shows off [[ShesGotLegs her legs by quite a lot]]. In addition, her shorts are tight and form-fitting, which really accentuates her derriere when we get a MaleGaze of it.
* WreathedInFlames: Her opening move in the Yellow trailer creates this image. Gets more potent as she gets stronger. [[MagicPants Her clothes remain completely unharmed throughout all this]].
* YouMonster: When she sees that one of the [[BearsAreBadNews Ursae]] had managed to sever a string of her hair, she gets so furious at them that she actually hits them with this before delivering a CurbStompBattle to them.
* ZettaiRyouiki: In her regular outfit, the FashionableAsymmetry of her stockings has a class C for her right leg and a class B for her left. Her school uniform consists of a Class A.

!!Ember Celica
Yang's weapon, described as "Dual-Ranged Shot Gauntlets". They're a pair of retractable gauntlets that can fire shotgun shells.
* ArmCannon: Her gauntlets allow her fight with ballistic weapons and explosions as well as fighting close-up.
* BottomlessMagazines: Subverted- just like Ruby, Yang has to reload. [[RunningGag But only]] [[DoubleSubverted once]]. Just like Ruby she switches to a more powerful ammo. It is unclear if she had expended all her ammunition before reloading.
* DualWielding: The gauntlets are on both arms.
* ElementalPunch: A ''lot'' of fire.
* EveryBulletIsATracer: The second set of shells she uses in her trailer lets her shoot out projectiles which look somewhat similar to Roman Torchwick's fireworks.
* MixAndMatchWeapon: Part shotgun, part PowerFist.
* NamedWeapons: As with all members of Team RWBY, these weapons are named.
* PowerFist: Her weapons allow her to produce some fearsome punches.
* ShotgunsAreJustBetter: But they're not shotguns, they're Shot Gauntlets.
* RecoilBoost: As with the Crescent Rose the recoil of this weapon can be used to increase the mobility of the wielder.
* RetractableWeapon: When not in use these weapons can retract into seemingly normal bracelets.
* ThemeNaming[=/=]FloralThemeNaming: Ember refers to fire and Celica is from the Latin Coelica meaning Heavenly or Celestial, so like Yang they are named for the Sun. Celica is also another name for the common bell pepper.
