* CanonForeigner: Sledge is the first villain since Venjix from ''RPM'' (and even then, that was just a talking column and not a full on suit) to have an original design not brought in from the Sentai- that's a six year time gap.

When he tries to take the Energems from the amnesiac rangers, Riley says that putting the Energems in the base is a great idea, and Heckyl heads to the base to grab them. While he was unsuccessful at getting the Energems, he did learn their base's location; at least until Curio made him forget. And of course he still knows the rangers civilian identities and they know he knows, so he still came out on top.

* HateSink: While Sledge, Heckyl, and Snide are entertaining villains with several redeeming traits, Arcanon has none. He is a total bastard to even those that work for him, caused genocide on an entire world, and is the reason why Heckyl and Zenowing have evil halves who he doesn't even treat with any respect. As such, there's not much sympathy to be had for him when Sledge and Snide betray and kill him.
* KarmicDeath: Him and his crew get killed off by Sledge using the Dark Energem, which he previously used to corrupt Heckyl and Zenowing.

* ALighterShadeOfBlack: Retroactively is this compared with Heckyl. While Sledge might be a bit of a jerk with skewed priorities going after the Energems, that doesn't change the fact that he was responsible for capturing tens of galactic criminals, and seems to genuinely care about Poisandra. Compare that to Heckyl who fries monsters and destroyed galaxies in his spare time and also Lord Arcanon.

* AdaptationExpansion: Sledge appears at the very beginning of ''Dino Charge'' and is very proactive in his schemes to obtain the Energems, unlike Deboss, [[SealedEvilInACan who serves as the villains' base for most of Kyoryuger]], and didn't gain a body until the final episodes of the season.

* AlasPoorVillain: The poor guy just wanted to fit in with the other villains. Not only was he arguably the weakest monster in the season (yes, even more so than Scumlaw and Heximas), but the worst he did was kidnap someone and threaten to bake them into a giant crepe (though he thought said person was the Pink Ranger due to overhearing a rumor and likely would have left them alone if he knew this was false). Despite being a villain, it's kind of hard not to feel sorry for him.

* AlasPoorVillain: The poor guy just wanted to fit in with the other villains. Not only was he arguably the weakest monster in the season, but the worst he did was kidnap someone and threaten to bake them into a giant crepe (though he thought said person was the Pink Ranger due to overhearing a rumor and likely would have left them alone if he knew this was false). Despite being a villain it's kind of hard to not feel sorry for him.

* BladeOnAStick: He wields a harpoon-like spear with two prongs.

* PerkyFemaleMinion: Poisandra ''technically'' works for Sledge (even though he spoils the hell out of her) and she's a font of energy who enjoys clowning around with Curio and being pampered. It contrasts Sledge, who [[NoNonsenseNemesis only cares about the Energems]].
