* AxCrazy: Not ''all'' of them, but it's more of a rule than an exception.
* DysfunctionJunction: It's the [[BalkanizeMe Balkans]], after all.

* BerserkButton: Do ''not'' badmouth [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skanderbeg Skanderbeg]] in front of him.
* ButtMonkey: He's not very smart or useful, and other countries tend to be mean to him or shun him.
* CatchPhrase: "Shqip!"[[note]]The Albanian word for the Albanian language/people. For non-Albanian speakers, the "q" is supposed to make the word rhyme with/sound like "cheap", not "keep".[[/note]]
* CloudCuckooLander: One of the countries least attached to reality.
* CulturalPosturing: He's Muslim, but is very keen to point out that he's European, not Near Eastern. He also believes that Kosovo is Albanian clay.
** A disturbing trend seems to be emerging where Albania kills other 'kebabs' Highlander-style (i.e. "There can only be one").
* TheDitz: He's often portrayed as not too bright, to put it mildly.
* NiceHat: Often pictured with a [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fez Fez]] or [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qeleshe Qeleshe]].
* OddFriendship: Seems to have formed one with Kosovo.
* OrganTheft: [[ImpossibleThief He even stole Omsk Bird's organs once!]]
* ProperlyParanoid: He is obsessed with building bunkers. In some comics, the ''qeleshe'' cap ''is'' a bunker.
* PokemonSpeak: In some comics, his dialogue consists of nothing but the word "Shqip."
* PottyFailure: Sometimes shown as having pissed himself in group "photos", to show that it is poorer than every other country bordering it.

* DarkAndTroubledPast: Thanks to Serbia.
* TheEeyore: He's generally depressed and expecting the worst. That said, he usually has good reason to.
* EmoTeen: The yellow triangle on his flag has been depicted as an emo-style forelock. And of course, he has the depression to go with it.
* OnlySaneMan: Together with [[WhiteSheep Slovenia]], one of the least kill-happy of the former Yugoslav countries. Though it's hard to know whether that's from any moral superiority or simply because he never gets the chance.
* StockholmSyndrome: Developed one under the reign of the Ottoman Empire. He's the only Balkan that is on good terms with Turkey.

* CulturalPosturing: Is proud of inventing the Cyrillic alphabet.
* HairTriggerTemper: He seems to be [[http://i.imgur.com/nQ6KCUQ.png in a bad mood]] most of the time, so this isn't surprising. When portrayed as female, it's joked that [[AllPeriodsArePMS she's on her period]].
* HeterosexualLifePartners: With Romania. It helps that they both have problems with gypsies.
* TrademarkFavouriteFood: Yoghurt.
* OutOfFocus: He doesn't get many comics focusing on him.

* ArchEnemy: To Serbia, though he shares this position with Turkey.
* BerserkButton: When Arabic countries pronounce his name "Kurwatia". (''Kurwa'' means "whore" in the Slavic languages.)
* PatrioticFervor: Enough to rival that of Serbia's.
* PetTheDog: Is nice to Muslims and can be seen defending Bosnia during one of his many arguments with Serbia.
* SmugSnake: Is arrogant to a fault and acts really haughty, looking down on those who disagree with him.
* WickedCultured: The Balkan country most into books and culture.

* RichesToRags: Invented Democracy. Touted as the birthplace of Western Civilization. Is constantly asking Germany to gib monies.
* SleepyHead: Is often shown to be sleeping during EU meetings.

* UnwantedAssistance: He doesn't particularly feel the need to be protected from Albania by [[BigBrotherBully Serbia]].

* CulturalPosturing: Takes this UpToEleven. He barely cares about anything other than being recognised as the true Macedon.
* DoNotCallMePaul: Hates being called a Slav despite speaking a Slavic language and using the Cyrillic alphabet.
* FounderOfTheKingdom: Claims UsefulNotes/AlexanderTheGreat, much to the annoyance of Greece.
* OverlyLongName: Per his dispute with Greece, to the UN he's known as the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.
* SmallNameBigEgo: Sometimes likes to tout Greek history as his own.

* LazyBum: Would rather have Serbia do his European Union entry application for him.
* SleepyHead: Is shown to be sleeping a lot.

* BloodKnight: He gets rather... ''gleeful'' about removing Turkey. And of course, he may have [[OurVampiresAreDifferent less politically motivated reasons for liking blood]].
* ClassicalMovieVampire: When depicted as a vampire, he wears the cape and tends to carry [[AGlassOfChianti a glass of something red]].
* CulturalPosturing: Will tell everyone who cares to listen that he is descended from the Roman Empire. He will be particularly upset if you imply that he's Roma.
* FriendlyEnemy: Hates Hungary and often taunts him about the Treaty of Trianon but they are often seen hanging out together.
* HeterosexualLifePartners: With Bulgaria.
* IdenticalStranger: Often confused with Chad, as both of their flags are exactly the same with only a slight difference in shades of blue.
* ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice: Unlike Serbia below, Romania isn't so averse to running someone through. See BloodKnight and OurVampiresAreDifferent.
* OurVampiresAreDifferent: Is often depicted as a vampire, due to being the birthplace of Vlad the Impaler and the focus of a lot of European vampire lore.
* StickyFingers: Due to his high association with the gypsies, he seems to have picked up their trait of stealing stuff. If it's not them, then it's him.

* ArchEnemy: Turkey and Croatia. Any [[InsistentTerminology kebab]] will do in a pinch, however.
* BigBrotherInstinct: Towards Kosovo. He would rather that Kosovo stay with him rather than become a part of Albania, despite the fact the Kosovo is mostly Muslim.
* BigBrotherWorship: He looks up to fellow Orthodox Slav Russia. They've even done a duet together.
* BloodKnight: While he's not alone in this among the countries, he's the most purebred example. Whenever he appears, you can be fairly sure that he's going to try to remove [[InsistentTerminology kebab]], Croatia, any other country that's not him...
* BreakoutCharacter: You wouldn't know that Serbia is not a heavy hitter in world affairs from reading Polandball. For instance, compare Serbia's trope entries to those of the more famous Spain and France.
* CatchPhrase: "Remove kebab!"
* DoesNotLikeSpam: He'd rather die than eat kebab, since it reminds him of Turkey. Doubles as a BerserkButton.
* DependingOnTheWriter: Although this will generally apply to how the author will do all of their comics and not just ones focused on Serbia, but Serbia's definition of Kebab will vary. It either applies exclusively to Turkey and his brother Azerbaijan, or "Euro Muslims" which then includes his other arch enemies Bosnia and Albania or just "Muslims" period which makes his ethnic tensions becoming a religious one instead. The only constant is that Turkey is 100% Kebab and no questions asked.
** Interestingly he is never shown reacting to the central Asian nations negatively despite 4 of them being Turkic and all 5 of them being Muslim. It somewhat helps that they're disconnected quite a bit with their brother Turkey.
* TheDreaded: At least by other Balkan countries. Most larger countries don't even care.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: While he's all for killing Turkey and other Islamic countries, he draws the line at impalement. [[DependingOnTheWriter Usually]].
* EyepatchOfPower: Formed by the white double-headed eagle crest. Comics set during UsefulNotes/TheYugoslavWars (when Serbia's flag didn't have the crest) will occasionally show him as missing an eye.
* FreudianExcuse: His insane hatred for Islamic countries was caused by him being forced into slavery by the Ottoman Empire for centuries.
** Croatia has abused him a lot in the past, as well.
* HairTriggerTemper: It doesn't take a lot for him to materialise a knife and Chetnik beret and go on a killing spree.

* MacheteMayhem: His weapon of choice is a machete. It gets used a lot.
* MoralityPet: Montenegro. While Serbia tends to treat him as something akin to an annoying little brother, he's usually less abusive to him than to other countries.
* NiceHat: Nearly always with a Beret.
* TheNicknamer: He's the one that started calling Turks and Muslims in general "Kebabs", spamming the other food denominations. Also uses "Shqiptard" for Albania and "Montenigger" for Montenegro.
* NoCelebritiesWereHarmed: In a rather dark example, his musical skills and general demeanour are inspired by a Republika Srpska soldier seen playing the accordion in a [[MemeticMutation viral]] [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U-EQJA8Ahac propaganda video]] from the 1990s. Since the anonymous accordionist is believed to be identical with [[http://www.trial-ch.org/en/ressources/trial-watch/trial-watch/profils/profile/135/action/show/controller/Profile/tab/legal-procedure.html Novislav Djajic]], who was sentenced in the Hague for fourteen killings of Muslims, this would also be an example of No War Criminals Were Harmed.
* PatrioticFervor: The driving force of his existence.
* PintSizePowerhouse: Like the other Balkan countries, he's generally drawn smaller than most countries. That doesn't make him any less ferocious, though.
* TheSociopath: He's a removing machine. His fondness for violence is the only thing dependable about him.
* WarriorPoet: He loves playing the accordion and singing as much as he loves killing Muslim countries, and is sometimes depicted as preferring his music to a life of violence. Of course, sometimes he manages to combine the two.

* TheGenericGuy: He isn't as interesting as the other Balkans.
* OnlySaneMan: One of the few Balkan countries that doesn't want to messily kill his neighbours.
* TheUnfavourite: Yugoslavia doesn't particularly like him due to him being the first one to secede and for being different from his brothers.
* WhiteSheep: Slovenia doesn't really fit in with the other former-Yugoslav states, and constantly strives to align himself with Central Europe instead.

* AffablyEvil: While the "evil" part varies, he's generally jovial and polite.
