Forge, for example, was only able to loan enough of his pyrokinetic powers to heat tea because his loyalty to her was entirely from selfish motivations.

* LightIsGood: According to Doorman. Actually a case of LightIsNotGood as she is a manipulative spirit seeking absolute power for her own purposes.
* ManipulativeBastard: She seems to have the ability to alter the emotions of people and make them feel calm, which uses to control Ángel and keep him from questioning her plans, seeing him as nothing other than a lowly pawn.

After their teacher was captured, they went on to search for him, eventually meeting Doorman in Mayview. They tried to help him free his friends from Francisco Guerra, but they were quickly caught.

!!Doorman
[[quoteright:190:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/doorman_cast_7035.png]]

->''"I am always willing to assist... a true agent of justice."''\\\

A friendly spirit and mentor/friend of Isaac who is currently hiding out on the outskirts of town. Has some kind of history with Max's spirit and Forge.
----
* EnigmaticMinion: He might serve Isaac, but he has another master besides. He also had plans to help smuggle Forge past the Mayview barrier.
* HurricaneOfPuns: [[http://www.paranatural.net/comic/chapter-5-page-11 Uses a lot of weather metaphors when talking to Isaac]].
* MeaningfulName: He's dressed somewhat like a doorman, and his power revolves around doors. Also, his head is a doorknob.
* OpenAndShut: His power, with a bit of ThinkingUpPortals thrown in. Insert a key into the keyhole in his face, and the door that makes up his body will open into the room that key belongs to, wherever it is. [[spoiler:It's even powerful enough to allow someone to bypass the barrier around the town]].
* PortalDoor: With an appropriate key, he's the door.
* WithGreatPowerComesGreatResponsibility: Lectures Isaac about this.

[[folder:Nin]]
[[quoteright:319:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/nin_concept_art_01.png]]
->''"Please. I make my '''own''' darkness."''\\\

A bunny-like spirit and associate of Doorman. Has the power to multiply herself.
----
* FacialMarkings: Her facial coloring is reminiscent of {{kabuki theatre}} makeup.
* MeaningfulName: She's modelled after a ''nin''ja. As a BilingualBonus, 'ninjin' in Japanese means 'carrot', commonly [[StockAnimalDiet associated with rabbits]].
* MesACrowd: Can make copies of herself, which can act on their own and hold conversations with each other.
* StealthPun: On the expression "multiplying like rabbits."

->''"We burn the present for the sake of a better future and are surprised when all it holds is ash!"''\\\

A humanoid poltergeist who resembles a medieval blacksmith with an anvil for a head and an oven for a chest.
----
* AmbiguouslyEvil: He can speak the cursed language, and he certainly isn't adverse to killing, but it's implied he isn't happy about it and doesn't think very much of Spender abandoning his students just to fight him. It's also shown that he was working with some sort of angelic entity.
* ArmorPiercingQuestion: To Spender. [[http://www.paranatural.net/comic/chapter-4-page-88 "What's your excuse?"]]
* TheBlacksmith: What he is themed after. He's also an actual blacksmith.
* BlackSpeech: Knows at least one cursed word. This is a '''very big deal''', as the Cursed language is learned one word at a time, one for every atrocity the spirit commits.
* BrokenBird: A rare male example. He hints towards some tragedy in his past that turned him from an idealistic "hero" into the bitter and disillusioned warrior he is now.
* BurningWithAnger: Small flames erupt on his head during his argument with Spender after Spender implies that the well-being of his students is secondary to saving Mayview.
-->'''Spender:''' Mayview is my greater good. It's every person I love and have loved plus ten thousand more, and protecting its future is my purpose. Everything else is secondary.\\
'''Forge:''' "Mayview" is on that train right now, fool.
* BirdPeople: What he appears to be on observation. Note the way how his armor resembles feathers and how his face appears to be just a beak. Even his feet look like those of a bird. He's likely a pheonix due to his [[PlayingWithFire fire powers]].
* DeathSeeker: Strongly implied, as he stays and fights Spender despite being told how dangerous he is and gets angry when he thinks Spender isn't as strong as he thought.
* DemonicPossession: [[spoiler:Possesses Johnny to escape death and enter the town]].
* DropTheHammer: He's usually seen with one, though it's unknown whether he uses it as a weapon outside of one moment where he throws it in anger.
* ExtraOreDinary: His main power appears to be control of metal, as seen when he shapes a long strip of it into a huge axe.
* TheFourthWallWillNotProtectYou: He points right at the reader at the very end of [[http://www.paranatural.net/comic/chapter-4-page-42 one page]], with the alt text reading: "It's pointing at YOU, reader. They know you're peekin'."
* HairTriggerTemper: He's very easy to provoke.
* HalfTheManHeUsedToBe: After [[spoiler: Spender defeats him via PortalCut]], his upper half appears as a skeleton while his lower half looks the same.
* TheJuggernaut: Both incredibly tough and single-mindedly devoted to his goals.
* KnightOfCerebus: His appearance, along with the pixhellhounds, marks when the comic goes from a (mostly) lighthearted comedy to a darker ongoing plot.
* MeaningfulName: As is common with spirits. Forge is able to reshape metal using his fire powers, and is a master blacksmith.
* MindOverMatter: Is a strong enough poltergeist to move a giant hammer made of physical matter around.
* TheNeedsOfTheMany: He goes on a rant against this sort of behavior, making it clear he had this mindset in the past.
-->'''Forge:''' We burn the present for the sake of a brighter future and act surprised when all it holds is ash!
* NotSoStoic: He has his moments in his fight with Spender.
** He goes from calmly discussing his viewpoint to screaming in Spender's face on how TheNeedsOfTheMany mentality is flawed and questioning how neither of them could see that in time.
** When Spender explains why he stayed behind to fight Forge instead of rescuing his students from the out-of-control Ghost Train, he states that protecting Mayview is his number one priority, prompting Forge to burst into flames and state that "Mayview" is currently on the runaway train.
** He has a much larger one when [[spoiler:Spender has beaten him, proving to not be ready for oblivion.]]
* PlayingWithFire: He can release fire from parts of his body, such as breathing it or covering his hand in it.
* StealthPun: He's a [[BirdPeople Bird person]] with {{Heart Symbol}}s; a '''[[CardiovascularLove Love]]bird'''.
* WhatTheHellHero: Has this reaction to Spender abandoning the runaway ghost train to fight him, [[{{Hypocrite}} despite being responsible for said state of affairs]].

Little is known about this being, who Doorman and Nin report to. Forge seeks to aid her. [[spoiler:Chapter 8 reveals that she is Cherub, the spirit partner to Isabel's father Àngel.]]
----
* AmbiguouslyEvil: Her objective is to gain the power of the Great Sphinx, the same as other antagonists, yet Àngel is convinced only she can use it for good, despite there being no obvious proof that she really is different. Made less ambiguous later, when she reveals she's just been straining Àngel along.
* AnimateInanimateObject: One of her powers seems to be bringing these to life, which Doorman uses to furnish the Slanted Manse.
* BitchInSheepsClothing: [[spoiler:She's kind and friendly with Ángel, but once she's alone, Cherub immediately begins insulting him and calling him a pawn]].
* DontCallMeSir: Doorman calls her "master", but she says she neither deserves nor desires the title.
* FusionDance: 'Angel' is actually a Spectral Fusion between Cherub and Àngel.
* MixAndMatchCritters: Her appearance is something of an angelic mix between a spaniel and a BedsheetGhost.
* OurAngelsAreDifferent: Is referred to as an angel by Doorman. How accurate this is remains to be seen, but she at least has ethereal speech bubbles befitting of one. She also apparently has a multitude of [[http://www.paranatural.net/comic/chapter-5-page-15 feathered wings]]. She is actually a small doglike spirit with wings.
* PaintingTheMedium: Her words are rainbow-colored, and her speech balloons have wings on them.
* TraitorShot: Once Ángel leaves her alone, Cherub has a sweet expression and recounts how kind he is, only to suddenly switch to a deeply smug grin and reveal she only sees him as a pawn.
