Gerald is also one of the few things that will make Widowmaker angry as she reacted strongly to Ana's comment about Gerard which means that Widowmaker deeply loved him (and still does given her resurrection comments) and he is the only thing that gives Widowmaker a sense of humanity.

Speculation. Again, we don't know how "old" he was. Don't trope things that there's no information about.

* YoungerThanHeLooks: Because he and Zenyatta hailed from the same clan at around the same time, it's unlikely he could've been much older than Zenyatta himself, which would put him at around 20 by the time of his death.

Not knowing how old Gerard was when he died makes this moot. Maybe, like a lot of guys, he had a hot young wife.

* ImprobableAge: A key member of Overwatch despite not being a founding member. Assuming that him and Amélie were around the same age, that would make him about 26 or 27 at the time he was assassinated after constantly thwarting Talon.

[[folder: Balderich von Alder]]
->Voiced by: N/A

Former leader of the Crusaders, the order of technologically empowered knights that Reinhardt hails from. In one of the most famous battles of the Omnic Crisis, Balderich and a handful of his best soldiers defended Eichenwalde, making a last stand against the advancing automaton army. Outnumbered and outgunned, they were ultimately slain during the resulting combat. However, thanks to their valiant efforts, the German military was able to push back the Omnic offensive and win the fight.
-----
* AnimalMotifs: Gryphons, which often adorned Germanic coat of arms belonging to nobility and/or royalty. They even adorned his throne and PoweredArmor.
* BadassInCharge: Was capable of killing several Bastion units at once with a single Fire Strike.
* BigGood: Of the Crusaders, when he was alive. He's seen protecting conventional military soldiers during "The Last Bastion" as well. It's also literal since his size is equal to Reinhardt's.
* BlingOfWar: Not even decades of neglect and disuse has tarnished his armor that much.
* CarryABigStick: Wielded a [[RocketPoweredWeapon Rocket]] Mace in life.
* CoolHelmet: Has one similar to Reinhardt's, except his helmet is modeled after a gryphon's head as opposed to Reinhard's crown-shaped helmet.
* DavidVersusGoliath: Though Balderich is larger than most examples, in addition to the Bastion units and a substantial air force, Balderich and his compatriots had to contend with dozens of the HumongousMecha that were first seen in the comic short "Destroyer".
* FaceDeathWithDignity: He had enough strength in his mortally wounded self to get to the throne of his castle where his remains rest to this day.
* GoThroughMe: And the Omnics eventually did, but it cost them dearly.
* HeroAntagonist: Of the animated short "The Last Bastion" (featuring Bastion), where he is responsible for killing several of Bastion's fellow Omnics in his attempt to protect Germany.
* HeroicSacrifice: Chose to stay in Eichenwalde to slow down the Omnics and buy time for Germany to formulate a decisive counterattack.
* LargeAndInCharge: Put Reinhardt side-by-side with his corpse and you'll see that Balderich was about two feet taller than his 7'4 subordinate.
* LightIsGood: His armor is colored light and gold, just like a KnightInShiningArmor, and he acted like one, too. He died protecting his country from the advancing Omnics. Years of disuse and neglect left his armor in a state of rust, however.
* LuckilyMyShieldWillProtectMe: Had the same shield ability as Reinhardt's. Didn't stop him from dying, though.
* MilitarySuperhero: He was a member of the German military force, and the leader of the Crusaders.
* OffscreenMomentOfAwesome: That humongous battle featured in "The Last Bastion"? It wasn't the fight that killed him. He and his Crusaders actually managed to live through that.
* PosthumousCharacter: He died thirty years before the events of the game. One of the objectives in the Eichenwalde map is to retrieve his remains located in his castle.
* PoweredArmor: Wore a set that is adorned with gryphon insignias, similar to how Reinhardt's armor had lions on it.
* VictoriousLoser: He and his elite guard perished against the Omnics in Eichenwalde, but held out long enough for the rest of the German military to outflank the machines and turn the tide of the battle.
* TheVonTropeFamily: Balderich '''''VON''''' Alder. Apparently, if his castle and throne are to go by, he's an important political figure in Germany in addition to being a military hero.
* WhereItAllBegan: Was born in Eichenwalde and eventually died there.

[[folder:The Boys (Brian and Chris)]]
[[quoteright:350:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/overwatch_5jpg_eb5f91_960w.jpg]]
->Voiced by: N/A

Two young boys, Brian (age 15) and Chris (age 6), who appear in the cinematic trailer, touring an Overwatch museum exhibit when they find themselves in the middle of a fight between heroes Tracer and Winston, and villains Widowmaker and Reaper. They are heavily implied to be siblings through their interactions and matching hair/eye colors.
----
* AffectionateGestureToTheHead: Brian to Chris towards the end of the trailer.
* BadassBystander: Brian, using a priceless museum artifact, is able to [[PunchedAcrossTheRoom punch Widowmaker to the other side of the building]]. And this is despite Widowmaker being a thousand leagues above his game.
* BlueIsHeroic: Brian is clothed in a blue hoodie and gets to help out Tracer and Winston through some quick thinking and the trope below.
* ChildrenAreInnocent: Chris acts much like any other kid his age would, but seems to be cheerfully oblivious to the darkness behind Overwatch's disbandment (which was probably covered in the Museum) and the CrapsaccharineWorld he lives in. On the other hand, Brian is less than enthusiastic until the very end.
* ConvenientlyTimedAttackFromBehind: Chris's shout of "Watch out!" gave Brian sufficient time to equip Doomfist's gauntlet and punch Widowmaker across the room.
* {{Foil}}: The two boys are this to each other. Chris is chubby and shorter in addition to be youthfully exuberant and optimistic along with being a complete fanboy. In contrast, Brian is lankier and rather cynical about Overwatch-related matters after their disbandment.
* HairOfGoldHeartOfGold: Both of them are rather kind and heroic, but Brian only gets to show it towards the end of the confrontation.
* HeroWorship: Chris, being a kid, admires the heroes of Overwatch. Brian is less enthusiastic until after he helps Tracer and Winston (the real deal!) defeat Widowmaker and Reaper.
* KidHero: Neither of them have training or powers, meaning that they're mostly below for the majority of the fight, then Brian steps up with a Doomfist gauntlet punch.
* TheLoad: Winston and Tracer are preoccupied with protecting them for most of the trailer, which causes Winston to take numerous hits from Reaper's Hellfire Shotguns, incapacitating him until he sees Reaper crush his glasses.
* YouthfulFreckles: Brian has a few of these remaining, symbolic of his lingering child-like enthusiasm that his brother has a great deal more of.

[[folder:Brigitte]]
[[quoteright:350:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/brigitte_7.jpg]]
->Voiced by: N/A

Reinhardt's traveling companion and mechanic. She appears in the comic short "Dragon Slayer".
----
* CloudcuckoolandersMinder: While Reinhardt is less crazy than most {{Cloudcuckoolander}}s, he tends to slip due to his advancing age. Brigitte's job is to give him reality checks in case he gets in over his head.
* FriendToAllChildren: After Reinhardt saved a town from a ruthless gang, Brigitte can be seen fixing a little girl's stuffed lion, giving it a suit of armor to match Reinhardt's to the girl's delight.
* HugeGuyTinyGirl: Non-romantic example: Reinhardt towers over most of the cast, while she barely reaches his chest in height.
* IntergenerationalFriendship: Reinhardt is in his sixties, while Brigitte is decades younger than him.
* TheSquire: With Reinhardt being the embodiment of a knight in modern times, Brigitte seems to essentially act as his squire.
* WomenAreWiser: Is more level-headed that Reinhardt and attempts to keep him grounded throughout the comic.
* WrenchWench: She serves as Reinhardt's mechanic and patches up his armor before he goes off fighting the Dragons gang.
* YouthfulFreckles: She has these; look at her page image.

[[folder:Doomfist]]
[[quoteright:350:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/800px_doomfistposters21.jpg]]
->Voiced by: N/A

[[LegacyCharacter A title passed down to at least three people]]: Adhabu Ngumi ("The Savior"), Akinjinde Ngumi ("The Scourge"), and a currently unknown third ("The Successor"). Not much is known, other than that the weapon holds great power, apparently enough to "level a skyscraper". One of the Doomfists was defeated by Winston, and the gauntlet was put on display in the museum, where the cinematic trailer takes place. It's widely speculated, if not outright confirmed, that Doomfist will be made a playable Hero down the line.
----

* ChekovsGun: The titular fist, as seen in the cinematic trailer, should he become playable.
* TheDreaded: As you can expect from someone who could supposedly level a skyscraper.
* FantasticRacism: The current Doomfist wants to undermine the peaceful relationship between humans and Omnics in Numbani.
* LegacyCharacter: Three people have held the title of "Doomfist", the third currently isn't known.
* MacGuffin: Doomfist's gauntlet is the prize Reaper and Widowmaker try to steal during the Cinematic Trailer while Winston and Tracer try to fend them off. The Numbani level is about one team escorting the gauntlet to the museum while the other team tries to stop them, presumably to steal it.
* MegatonPunch: What the gauntlet is capable of doing.
* PowerFist: The gauntlet Doomfist is named for. With each generation, the gauntlet has been built to be bigger. The gauntlet of the Successor covers his entire right arm.
* PromotedToPlayable: Heavily hinted that the third Doomfist will become a playable Hero in the future.
* ScaryBlackMan: "The Scourge" was most likely as fearsome as his nickname, and the banner shows him to be black.
* ASinisterClue: The second Doomfist, "the Scourge", is the only one to have his gauntlet built for his left hand.
* WreckedWeapon: After Brian uses the gauntlet to knock Widowmaker back, it promptly loses any power it had stored and nearly breaks apart.

----
* AmbiguousGender: It's trying to build a nest, but it's still unclear whether Ganymede is a boy or a girl.
* DisturbedDoves: Briefly flew away after Bastion went into turret mode, destroying their nest in the process. They come back later though.
* IKnowYoureInThereSomewhereFight: Not exactly a fight, but Ganymede tried building another nest on top of Bastion, which ended up calming it down after its combat programming took over.
* LoyalAnimalCompanion: Not even having their nest destroyed by Bastion when it went into turret mode drove them away for good.
* MoralityPet: For Bastion by awakening a fascination with nature and living things. Later Ganymede became a MoralityChain by snapping it back into its usual self when its combat programming took over.
* NonHumanSidekick: They're a bird.
* OhCrap: When Bastion goes into turret mode.
* RidiculouslyCuteCritter: This bird is a gorgeous creature (like most of the setting).
* TrueCompanions: Wherever Bastion goes, Ganymede is never far behind.
* UnusualPetsForUnusualPeople: A wild bird for an Omnic that's been deactivated for decades.

[[folder:Gerard Lacroix]]
->Voiced by: N/A

One of Overwatch's key members, though not one of the founding members, and the loving husband of Amelie Lacroix. Apparently very good at his job of going toe-to-toe with Talon, as he was never defeated by them on the field no matter how hard they tried. To alleviate this, Talon took another option: Kidnap Amelie, transform her into Widowmaker, then have her kill him in his sleep.
----
* TheAce: Why Talon was unable to make a dent against him; he's just that good in his job.
* DefeatingTheUndefeatable: Subjected to this. Gerard had a stellar record of thwarting every one of Talon's plans, so they resorted to using his wife against him to succeed.
* HappilyMarried: With Amelie. Sadly deconstructed in another way; while they have no regrets in marrying, this marriage becomes a factor of Gerard's downfall, as Amelie was his one weak spot that Talon used in order to bring him down, by brainwashing Amelie into Widowmaker and having her strike from there where he would least expect it.
* TheLostLenore: Is this to Widowmaker, who still retains enough of her old memories of him post-brainwashing to the point where badmouthing him becomes her BerserkButton. She will even sometimes call his name if revived by a friendly Mercy player.
* LoveIsAWeakness: He certainly didn't think so, but his love turns out to be his one weak spot that Talon exploited to finally win against him [[KilledOffForReal permanently]].
* LoveMakesYouDumb: Because she doesn't know the full story, Ana believed Gerard fell in love with a woman who manipulated and killed him. Widowmaker's response to this is... [[BerserkButton rather strong]].
--> '''Ana''': Gerard was a fool to love someone like you.
--> '''Widowmaker''': You don't know ''anything'' about him.
* PosthumousCharacter: Existing only in the memory of characters close to him, he's already dead when the story begins in.
* TooGoodForThisSinfulEarth: He was probably right up there with Jack Morrison and Reinhardt when it came to moral fiber, keeping Talon in check while he lived. After he died, Talon is able to wreak more havoc.
* WhatDoesSheSeeInHim: Used to a heartbreaking degree. Because Ana doesn't know the full story of how her old friend Amelie became Widowmaker, she assumed that Gerard married a complete bitch who killed him once she was done stringing him along. ----
* CasualDangerDialogue: Despite being right in the middle of a chaotic battle between the two teams, Glitchbot will pass the time by poking fun at the various heroes and complaining about their performances.
* DeadpanSnarker: His jabs at some of the heroes definitely qualify.
* FantasticRacism: A victim of it and presumably why he needs the Attacking team on ''Hollywood'' to escort him.
* PrimaDonnaDirector: Given how temperamental he is, its implied he is very much this trope.
-->'''Glitchbot:''' ''Come on, I didn't hire you for your acting ability!''

* SmallNameBigEgo: The posters in the Attacking team's spawn suggest that Glitchbot mostly directs B-movie schlock, but he has a very high opinion of himself.
* TheVoice: He's inside his limo all the time, so players can hear him but not see him.

[[folder:Harold Winston]]
[[quoteright:350:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/haroldwinston.png]]
->''"Always remember: never accept the world for what it appears to be...dare to see it for what it ''could'' be."''

->Voiced by: Greg Chun (English)

Dr. Harold Winston was the gorilla Winston's caretaker in the Horizon Lunar Colony on the moon. He was killed when the intelligent gorillas in the colony staged an uprising, leading Winston to take the name of his beloved caretaker and flee the moon. He first appears in the animated short [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sB5zlHMsM7k "Recall."]]
----
* BrainyBrunette: Had (greying) brown hair and was the chief scientist of the Horizon Lunar Colony.
* GoodParents: Is one to Winston.
* ParentalSubstitute: The closest thing to a father for Winston.
* PosthumousCharacter: He's dead by the time of the story, but is seen in a photo and one of Winston's flashbacks.
* TragicKeepsake: His glasses are still used and treasured by Winston, being one of the few things he has to remember him by. That being said, anyone who [[BerserkButton breaks the glasses]] (looking at you, Reaper!) will instantly lose brownie points with Winston and earn a quick trip to being [[CurbStompBattle curbstomped]].
* TwoFirstNames: Either his first or last name can be used as a given one for a male.

[[folder:Sven]]
[[quoteright:350:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/350px_destroyer_sven.png]]
->Voiced by: N/A

A man who specialized in robotics engineering. He is the former colleague of Torbjörn, though due to clashing beliefs and approach to their field of profession, their partnership was not without problems. He appears in the comic short "Destroyer".
-----
* AgonyOfTheFeet: Torbjörn shoots a rivet through Sven's foot to incapacitate him.
* BigGuyLittleGuy: He's the Big Guy to Torbjörn's Little Guy, though in a variation of this trope, the latter is stocky while Sven is skinny. They used to work together in creating the machines that would later become the Omnics, and have since drifted apart.
* BeardOfEvil: Has a handlebar mustache and a pointy goatee. The only thing preventing him from becoming a DastardlyWhiplash is [[TheNeedsOfTheMany his belief in achieving the greater good]] [[WellIntentionedExtremist through targeted devastation]].
* BlueIsHeroic: Subverted. Despite wearing blue (in contrast to Torbjörn's red), he's the main villain of the comic short "Destroyer", using a giant Omnic to destroy a state's capital to prevent (in his mind) [[LensmanArmsRace an even greater evil]].
* {{Foil}}: Both Sven and Torbjörn are talented robot technicians, but the similarities stop there. Torbjörn [[RedIsHeroic wears red]] and is a [[GrumpyBear grumpy]] old man who [[FantasticRacism hates Omnics]], but his heart is ultimately in the right place. Sven, meanwhile, subverts the BlueIsHeroic trope by using an Omnic to devastate a state's capital costing hundreds of innocent lives, and while he believes he's doing the right thing, his actions promote the opposite and ultimately, if Torbjörn is to be believed, his true motives are fueled by greed.
* IDidWhatIHadToDo: He presents his motives in this light. [[ShutUpHannibal Torbjörn's response is to disarm and shoot his old colleague in the foot, before giving him a well-deserved punch to the face]], while simultaneously giving him a TheReasonYouSuckSpeech.
* LightIsNotGood: He has light blonde hair like Torbjörn, but unlike the latter who is a heroic (ex)Overwatch agent, he used an Omnic to lay waste to the capital of a country that was participating in an arms race, killing many of its inhabitants in the process.
* LeanAndMean: He's skinnier than his former partner Torbjörn, and he's morally dubious and (according to Torbjörn) a cash-hungry sleazebag.
* MeaningfulName: Sven means "young man/warrior" in Old Norse, though it's also an IronicName since he's as old as Torbjörn.
* OnlyInItForTheMoney: Although he paints himself as a WellIntentionedExtremist, Torbjörn believes Sven was destroying the capital city of Kurjikstan because he was paid to do it. There was also the fact that, back when Sven and Torbjörn were partners, Sven would often cheat by cutting corners in his work.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: He piloted a [[HumongousMecha titanic Omnic]] and used it to try and raze the capital of Kurjikstan to the ground because he sees Kurjikstan as a militaristic dictatorship whose arms race will result in nuclear armageddon if it isn't stopped, and wants to set an example while demonstrating the power of his own weapon. While it will cost many, many lives, he believes that the plan will save even more in the long run by bringing MutuallyAssuredDestruction to a new level.

[[folder:Tekhartha Mondatta]]
[[quoteright:350:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gg_3.jpg]]
->''"Human. Machine. We are all one within the Iris."''

->Voiced by: N/A

An omnic who led the monks of the Shambali Monastery following the first Omnic Crisis, he preached his message of unity between humans and Omnics across the world. He was killed by Widowmaker during one of his public appearances in King's Row. First mentioned in Zenyatta's backstory, he appears in the animated short "Alive".
-----
* HundredPercentAdorationRating: Near universally admired by both humans and Omnics for his work. His death at the hands of Widowmaker was met with widespread sorrow, and both Tracer and Zenyatta miss him greatly. And because of this trope, his death also destroyed any hope for humans and Omnics to co-exist in peace in Britain for the foreseeable future.
* TheAtoner: Like Zenyatta, he sought to mend the relationship between humans and Omnics after the Omnic Crisis.
* BoomHeadshot: Widowmaker sniped his head section.
* ColorMotif: His Omnic body and clothes are colored white to denote his purity, compassion, and good morals. But in Asian cultures, white means death - he is from a headshot at the hands of Widowmaker.
* DueToTheDead: After his death, many of his followers erected a memorial in tribute to him, which can be found in the King's Row map amidst anti-Omnic graffiti.
* EyesAlwaysShut: Like Zenyatta, his eyes are sensors that are always closed.
* GoodShepherd: A benevolent holy (robot) man preaching coexistence between humans and Omnics.
* NiceGuy: A peaceful, kind, and honest Omnic. He lost his life speaking out for peace between the humans and the Omnics.
* NoCelebritiesWereHarmed: His design is remincent of UsefulNotes/MahatmaGandhi but his character arc more closely resembles [[UsefulNotes/CivilRightsMovement Martin Luther King, Jr.]]. Both were members of a race that was hated and discriminated against, and were strong advocates of racial equality, with their movements gaining a massive following. Both ultimately died from a sniper's bullet, and both deaths ignited racial tensions. But while the aftermath of King's death was a short and intense period of race riots, Mondatta's death turned King's Row into a racist hellhole for Omnics as racial tensions climbed higher than ever before.
* OddFriendship: Though he and Zenyatta parted ways on how best to help humans and Omnics achieve peace and unity, they never lost their deep and fundamental respect for one another. Zenyatta deeply mourns both his death and the fact that it ultimately led to even more suffering for the Omnics of King's Row.
* ReligiousRobot: The leader of the Shambali Monastery.
* TooGoodForThisSinfulEarth: Mondatta was a peaceful soul who advocated peace and unity between humans and Omnics alike through his religious teachings. Widowmaker put an end to his efforts with a clean shot. In a variation of this trope, he was too good for the sinful earth, and his death made the area he lived ''even more sinful''.
* WeHardlyKnewYe: He's shot dead by Widowmaker in the ''Alive'' animated short in what little screentime he had outside of backstory.
