* LoveYouAndEverybody: On his route, the protagonist quickly finds herself falling for him in large part because he's always so kind and affectionate toward her... but since Shusei is nice to everyone, she spends a lot of the route desperately trying to remind herself not to read too much into his casual displays of affection.

Added DiffLines:

* MasterOfTheMixedMessage: Kaoru's long silences and difficulty with communicating his emotions has led the protagonist to believe he's not interested in her romantically and/or sexually. This is so bad that it continues even after they ''start dating,'' although he does make himself clear once he realizes how confused the protagonist is.

Changing to Westernised name order and tweaking romanization to be consistent with the English localisation of the games.

There\'s not much purpose to spoilering out Minato\'s name in his own trope list.

* CallingTheOldManOut: By proxy during Minato's route. [[spoiler:Minato]] delivers a stern dressing-down to [[spoiler:Senator Igarashi]] on behalf of [[spoiler:Kazuyuki]] for giving him up to an orphanage [[spoiler:in a misguided attempt to protect him from catching fallout from the then-current affair scandal]], arguing that given the choice he'd much rather have grown up with his parents.
* FriendlessBackground: [[spoiler:Minato, according to Shusei]]. He had to move repeatedly as a child and transferred from school to school, leaving him with a lot of difficulty opening up to others or making friends. It didn't help that the friends he had managed to make in previous schools never stayed in touch despite promising to do so.

* TheLostLenore: [[spoiler:Kaoru Kirishima]]'s previous girlfriend was killed in a traffic accident. * OneHeadTaller: Kaoru is described as ''very'' tall, and the artwork shows this trope to be in effect for him and the protagonist. Outside of the complicated logistics of kissing, the protagonist quite likes his height -- she can always find him in a crowd, after all.
* TheQuietOne: Kaoru is ''very'' quiet, speaking no more than he can help most of the time.
* TallDarkAndHandsome: Kaoru, of course.

* TheGadfly: The protagonist quickly recognizes that a lot of Minato's comments are made with the express intention of trying to rile her up, and indeed he makes no secret of the fact that he'd be disappointed if she kept her cool and went along with the things that he says. Even when she does try her best not to take the bait, he persists until he manages to get under her skin anyway.

* CannotSpitItOut: Kaoru is ''terrible'' at expressing himself. Much of the conflict of both his route and his epilogue springs primarily from his inability to communicate his feelings, compounded by the protagonist's tendency to hold in her own feelings rather than risk burdening Kaoru with them.

* NeverBeHurtAgain: [[spoiler: Because of this Kaoru is reluctant to let himself care about anyone for fear of having to suffer the pain of losing them.]]

* TheStoic: Not only is Kaoru quiet, he's not at all expressive either, which makes him very hard to read.
* SugarAndIcePersonality: Kaoru again; as always for the quiet types in these games, his cool and uncommunicative exterior hides a sweet, caring nature.

Even when she does try her best not to take the bait, he persists until he manages to get under her skin anyway.
* HeelRealization: Downplayed in Minato's sequel when the protagonist explains to him that Wataru's behavior toward her is a lot like the things Minato himself did early in their relationship. Minato, seeing his own past actions in the context of someone ''else'' treating the protagonist that way, comes to the dismayed realization that he was actually kind of awful.
* IWantMyBelovedToBeHappy: [[spoiler: In Shusei's route towards him and the protagonist]]
* WhatIsThisFeeling: In Minato's sequel, Minato finds himself completely unable to fathom why he gets so worked up over Wataru and the protagonist going out shopping together and taking an unusually long time to come back. He's quite surprised when the protagonist explains to him some chapters later that it was jealousy he was feeling; he'd never experienced the emotion before.

* EveryoneCanSeeIt: Everybody except the protagonist has Kaoru's feelings pegged by about halfway through his route, and the other guys take no end of delight in teasing him about it.
* GentleGiant: Kaoru Kirishima.
