Unless you're a member of his crew, Kid views everyone else around him as an obstacle to his ambitions or an enemy. Law and Kid emerge victorious by knocking Big Mom off the Floating Continent they are fighting on, whereas Luffy attempts to beat Kaido unconscious. Nonetheless, Luffy manages to defeat Kaido in one-on-one combat. Although Luffy, Kid, and Law share a substantial 3,000,000,000 Berri bounty for leading a successful raid on Onigashima, Luffy is the only one officially recognized by the World Government as one of the Four Emperors. However, during his time in the New World, he suffers a lot of humiliation and misfortune, including losing his left arm in a fight against the Red Hair Pirates, getting kicked out of Big Mom's territory without ever encountering Big Mom herself (albeit not without getting a rubbing of her Poneglyph), being set up by Apoo for a beatdown by Kaido (who captures him and makes him his prisoner) while his other prospective ally Hawkins is too cowardly to help him, suffering grueling torture for weeks on end along with his crew and his friend Killer being force-fed a faulty SMILE fruit. And as an insult to his pride as a pirate, despite getting a massive bounty increase, Luffy is given all the credit for the ordeal against the Kaido-Big Mom alliance and labeled as one of the new Emperors of the Sea while Kid is labeled as a mere accomplice.
