Oliver's mother. A kind woman who cares deeply for her child. She loses her life after saving Oliver's in a tragic accident. At the insistence of Drippy, Oliver goes on a quest to save her.

As a small girl native to the Other World, she was saved by Shadar before he became evil. When he did, she spent years to become a sage, traveled back (forward?) in time, crossed dimensions to Earth and absorbed Shadar's other self's soul that he had cast off (Oliver) and gave birth to him as part of a plan to save Shadar.]]
* HeroicSacrifice: Saves Oliver from drowning in the river, but suffers a heart attack afterwards and dies in the hospital.

The "Meowjesty" of Ding Dong Dell. He assists Oliver in his journey after restoring a piece of heart he was missing, giving Oliver his first real wand (as in, one that's not a stick).

!!Great Sage Rashaad

A former Great Sage and father to Esther. He works as a Babana merchant in Al Mamoon and initially refuses to help Oliver stand up against Shadar, but warms up to him after he heals his brokenhearted daughter.

!!Queen Lowlah
->Voiced by: Rachel Atkins

The "Cowlipha" of Al Mamoon. She favors cheese to the point that when she became brokenhearted, that's all she'd eat (in excess). She assists Oliver by providing him a boat after he cures her of her gluttony.

* AbhorrentAdmirer: Subverted. While she has an obvious crush on Marcassin, giving the heroes his photo, and Drippy finds this fact creepy, we aren't shown how Marcassin himself reacts to her fawning over him when they meet for the first time.
* AchillesHeel: [[spoiler:The 'Burden' spell when she's turned into a monster.]]
* [[AdiposeRex Adipose Regina]]: Supposedly her prodigious size is due to how much she stuffed herself while brokenhearted. We never see her when she's thin, but the Wizard's Companion provides a bust picture of one of her ancestors, who resembled a skinnier version of Lowlah.
* ALoadOfBull: She has bovine horns. She's also the only one in the game that's a cow person.
* BigBeautifulWoman: The CatGirl who runs the inn describes her as beautiful.
* BigEater: Brought on by Shadar taking away her restraint.

!!Supreme Sage Solomon


A sage who lives within the Temple of Trials. He assists apprentice wizards and runs a competition called the Solosseum.

* BigGuyLittleGuy: Little guy to his servant, Umbopa.
* {{Jerkass}}: He doesn't have many nice things to say towards Oliver and Esther, or anyone in general.
* MeaningfulName: According to some legends King Solomon was said to be able to tame and control Daemons, in the game Sage Solomon gives Ester an item that lets her do the same thing to get more familiars.
* OlderThanTheyLook: He looks about as tall as Oliver, and almost looks around his age. However, he's old enough that he's trained Rashaad, Khulan, Marcassin and Alicia.
* PintSizedPowerhouse: Well, we never see him in action, but according to everyone else, he should be pretty powerful. The closest we come to witnessing his power is in [[spoiler:the Solosseum, where he's the final match. Appropriate to the trope, instead of using the biggest, most powerful Nobilia type creatures against you (which are all stronger than normal familiars by their very nature), Solomon just uses gold versions of Oliver, Esther, and Swaine's starter familiars in their base form (so Mite, Drongo, and Hurly respectively). And they're strong enough to kick the ass of a max leveled party of familiars to boot!]]
* [[invoked]]TastesLikeDiabetes: Invoked by Solomon himself. He appears to hate anything "cute" or "sweet", and refers to the hearts that appear over tamable familiars' heads as "disgusting".

The Great Sage Khulan was once the queen of the Kingdom of Xanadu. After the Kingdom fell to Shadar, she became brokenhearted and proceeded to do the same to the people of Perdida.

* ItsAllMyFault: Blames herself for the fall of Xanadu. Oliver and Kublai mention that this is not the case.

The King of the Sky Pirates and master of Tengri, a winged Dragon.

* BadassBoast: He's one of the few (or possibly, the ''only'') people you encounter who isn't afraid of the very mention of Shadar, proclaiming that he'll show him what it means to face a "true adversary."
* CoolAirship: The Iron Wyvern.
* EmotionalBruiser: Oliver takes two parts of his heart over the course of the story.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: He's probably the only other character aside from Solomon who hardly cares for Oliver's manners, but he loves his land and would do anything to help it and its Queen, [[spoiler:including admitting that he loves Queen Khulan in order to help mend her broken heart.]]
* MeaningfulName: He's named after Kublai Khan, the founder of the Yuan Dynasty in China. His soulmate in the other world, [[spoiler: Genghis]], is named after the founder of Mongol Empire.

* SkyPirate: The leader of the only band of Sky Pirates in the world, thanks to their flying airship and their dragon allies.

!!Horace / Horologium

A mysterious, ghostly boy who speaks to Oliver in riddles, and rewards him whenever he can figure them out. The player encounters him in various villages throughout the game.

* ChildMage: He claims to be the Sage of Ages and the one who penned the first Wizard's Companion when we first meet him. Drippy doubts him almost immediately (thanks to having never heard of a "Sage of Ages") and thinks that he's just a braggart. [[spoiler:Turns out that he's lost his memory, and ends up being spurred on to regain it after meeting Oliver.]]
* DeadpanSnarker: He lets out a few snarks towards Oliver and Drippy, mostly towards the latter.
* ItsAllMyFault: [[spoiler:He feels that leaving Cassiopeia behind and ignoring her for the sake of revenge against the Council is what started this whole mess, and that being forced to wander the world as a ghost, [[LaserGuidedAmnesia blissfully unaware of his actions in life]] for the longest time, is apt punishment for what he had done. When his sidequest is finally over, he gives Oliver the alchemy plans for a powerful wand and simply asks him to save his queen.]]
* LaserGuidedAmnesia: The fact that Horace can't remember his life from when he was alive distresses him greatly. [[spoiler: It's later revealed that, among other things, he was a student of the Wizard King, took part in the Wizard Wars, was tasked to train Cassiopeia in magic (which is why he wrote the Wizard's Companion, to be a manual of sorts for the future queen), and was part of the Nazcaan Council of Twelve as the original "Gallus". He left the Council when he realized their true intentions, afraid that they were going to snuff him out like they did the Wizard King, leaving behind Cassiopeia, who had tried to deal with their cruelty to her kingdom by invoking the Forbidden Spell, [[MysticalPlague manna]], which she thought would save her kingdom due to her spellbook's lack of details on certain spells.]]
* MyGreatestFailure: [[spoiler: He firmly believes that it was his resignation from the Council of Twelve is what doomed Nazcaa to ruin, and his constant thoughts of revenge for their evils blinded him to his duty to Cassiopeia. Because he had only wrote down spells with their descriptions in the Wizard's Companion he gave, but ''not'' their drawbacks, he inadvertently set Cassiopeia on her StartOfDarkness, who, in a misguided attempt to save her kingdom, used the Manna spell, causing the utter destruction of Nazcaa and the eventual birth of the White Witch.]]
* OurGhostsAreDifferent: [[spoiler:In that he's inexplicably a child when you first meet him, despite him dying as an adult.]]

A very old tree that lives in the Deep Dark Wood. He is one of the first people Oliver encounters in the other world. He assists Oliver by giving him his first spells and the Telling Stone, a compendium of knowledge.

Two faeries who are friends with Drippy, as he had trained them on their comedy stylings when they were up-and-comers. They put on a comedy routine in the Fairygrounds.

* ThoseTwoGuys: Aside from just being Drippy's old "butties", they are also Drippy's informants, providing important news to him while he was dormant as a doll. Oliver's best friend. He has a hobby of making cars in his spare time. He is a hard working person, but tends to be stubborn and defensive.

The titular villain who harbors great hatred towards Oliver due to him being the world's "Savior", and will do everything in her power to kill him.

* TheAtoner: [[spoiler:At the end of the game, she is horrified by all the evil acts she's done to the other world, and promises to make amends to everyone.]]
* BigBad: Gives orders to Shadar, and is responsible for the plot being set in motion to begin with via the death of Allie.
* CastingAShadow: Her Falling Star spell, as well as Nightshade.
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: [[spoiler:A very dark, unfunny variant. She spends most of the game talking to what turn out to figments of her imagination made real by her magic. Turns out to be a subversion, she's actually aware the things she's talking, outside of Shadar, aren't real, but spending hundreds of years alone took such a toll on her that she'll settle for having nearly anybody around as long she isn't alone.]]
* DarkIsEvil: A lot of her abilities seem to be dark-based, in a bit of contrast.

In her brooding, half-crazed state, Cassiopeia lashed out and banished Pea, and with her the last vestiges of her humanity: in this moment, the White Witch was born.]]

* SympathyForTheDevil: [[spoiler:All of the misery in the game can be traced back to her, and she was personally responsible for the death of Allie. But after the Manna catastrophe that she personally unleashed left her all alone, it's hard not to feel bad for her. It gets even harder when she ''[[TearJerker breaks down crying]]'' after her OneWingedAngel form is defeated, and the face under her mask wears a broken, utterly helpless expression. It's easily one of the most pathetic, heartwrenching sights in the game, considering what she was like during 90 percent of the story.]]
* TheManBehindTheMan: Everyone doesn't realize she exists until about 90% a way through the main plot, as she sends Shadar to do all of her dirty work, and he never mentions her.
* UnmovingPlaid: Her cloak has [[StarSpangledSpandex the entire galaxy!]]
* UtopiaJustifiesTheMeans: [[spoiler:Believes that the world should be destroyed because its flawed.]]
* VillainousBreakdown: [[spoiler:When the party reveals that she can't just remake the world just because she doesn't like it, she goes berserk. After she is defeated in her OneWingedAngel form, she loses all composure and collapses into a sobbing wreck.]]
* VoiceOfTheLegion: It honestly makes her fairly creepy.
* WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds: [[spoiler: Was in fact daughter of the Wizard King, and after his death became the queen of Nazcaa at a very young age and spent most of it sheltered while the corrupt Zodiarch council run the kingdom. When she got older and saw the state of her kingdom, she created the spell of manna to try and save Nazcaa, but it ended up turning everyone but her into monsters that murdered each other, destroying Nazcaa and leaving her all alone. She now seeks to destroy the world and make it anew. All the many, many tragedies in her life have driven her into believing that the world isn't fixable and should be remade into something that wouldn't have the cataclysm of Nazcaa happen again.]]
* YinYangBomb: Wields both dark and light magic.

!!Shadar/ Lucien (ジャボー Jabō / Natius)
->Voiced by: Brian Protheroe and Oliver Mason (as Lucien)

The Dark Djinn, who was dubbed "Executor", and charged with bringing destruction towards the other world by the White Witch.

* AntiVillain: [[spoiler:In his final moments, its revealed that Shadar wanted to bring peace to the world, knows that many of his actions are wrong but feels he must do commit, and it's possible that he was doing it while he was the Dark Djinn. Alicia says that the other world was a much better place while Shadar was in power than how it was when she was a child.]]
* BadassBaritone: Fittingly, for someone who is called "The Executor".
* ClimaxBoss: In ''Wrath of the White Witch'', thanks to the eponymous Witch being the real final boss.
* CynicismCatalyst: [[spoiler:One you get to see in flashback after his defeat. Put simply, he used to be a WideEyedIdealist, until he was forced to take part in a horrifying war. He refused to kill innocent civilians and helped a young girl (who turned out to be Alicia) escape, and his superiors had ''his entire hometown burned'' as punishment. Needless to say he crossed the DespairEventHorizon after that.]]
* DespairGambit: The reason Shadar apparently makes so many glaring mistakes, like not enlisting the help of the Zodiarchs, or showing up to taunt Oliver before leaving, rather than killing him on the spot. [[spoiler: Because Oliver will simply be reincarnated if killed, to be truly defeated, his spirit must be broken: Shadar strings Oliver along, tempting him with [[HopeSpot the Soulsnare]], have him jump through hoops and brave countless dangers...before revealing that it was AllForNothing. [[NearVillainVictory It very nearly works:]] Ollie ends up in a HeroicBSOD and loses all will to continue his quest, but luckily Pea shows up to snap him out of it.]]
* DiscOneFinalBoss: [[spoiler:In the DS version, he was the actual final boss. However, the game continues in the [=PS3=] version to reveal himself as TheDragon towards the White Witch.]]

A council of twelve who serve the White Witch.

They may very well be a GreaterScopeVillain, as it was the evil actions of the Nazcaan Council of 12 that inspired Cassiopeia's disastrous dabbling into the Forbidden Spell, an event with consequences that reverberated to present day. The birth of the White Witch, who in turn helped create Shadar, the death of Ollie's mom, ''all'' of it can be traced back to these twelve corrupt, long-dead old bastards.]]

* AbhorrentAdmirer: Subverted. While she has an obvious crush on Marcassin, giving the heroes his photo, and Drippy finds this fact creepy, we aren't shown how Marcassin himself reacts to her fawning over him when they meet for the first time.

Appropriate to the trope, instead of using the biggest, most powerful Nobilia type creatures against you (which are all stronger than normal familiars by their very nature), Solomon just uses gold versions of Oliver, Esther, and Swaine's starter familiars in their base form (so Mite, Drongo, and Hurly respectively). And they're strong enough to kick the ass of a max leveled party of familiars to boot!]]

When his sidequest is finally over, he gives Oliver the alchemy plans for a powerful wand and simply asks him to save his queen.]]

Because he had only wrote down spells with their descriptions in the Wizard's Companion he gave, but ''not'' their drawbacks, he inadvertently set Cassiopeia on her StartOfDarkness, who, in a misguided attempt to save her kingdom, used the Manna spell, causing the utter destruction of Nazcaa and the eventual birth of the White Witch.]]

His spells aren't much better; they have a shorter cooldown timer than Oliver's, but they're also the ''same'' as Oliver's, barring the story specific ones that only Oliver can use, meaning Marcassin lacks the most powerful spells in the game. Worse still, since the other three party members already have roles (Esther for taming, Swaine for stealing), and [[CantDropTheHero you can't get rid of Oliver]], Marcassin's usefulness drops almost to nil. The best you can say about him is that having him on the same team as Ollie effectively doubles magical damage output, but you'd be giving up Esther's healing and buffs or Swaine's ability to snag rare items.]]

All the many, many tragedies in her life have driven her into believing that the world isn't fixable and should be remade into something that wouldn't have the cataclysm of Nazcaa happen again.]]

* ClimaxBoss: In ''Wrath of the White Witch'', thanks to the eponymous Witch being the real final boss.

The "Cowlipha" of Al Mamoon. She favors cheese to the point that when she became brokenhearted, that's all she'd eat (in excess). She assists Oliver by providing him a boat after he cures her of her gluttony.

* AbhorrentAdmirer: Subverted. While she has an obvious crush on Marcassin, giving the heroes his photo, and Drippy finds this fact creepy, we aren't shown how Marcassin himself reacts to her fawning over him when they meet for the first time.
* AchillesHeel: [[spoiler:The 'Burden' spell when she's turned into a monster.]]
* [[AdiposeRex Adipose Regina]]: Supposedly her prodigious size is due to how much she stuffed herself while brokenhearted. We never see her when she's thin, but the Wizard's Companion provides a bust picture of one of her ancestors, who resembled a skinnier version of Lowlah.
* ALoadOfBull: She has bovine horns. She's also the only one in the game that's a cow person.
* BigBeautifulWoman: The CatGirl who runs the inn describes her as beautiful.

* MeaningfulName: According to some legends King Solomon was said to be able to tame and control Daemons, in the game Sage Solomon gives Ester an item that lets her do the same thing to get more familiars.
* OlderThanTheyLook: He looks about as tall as Oliver, and almost looks around his age. However, he's old enough that he's trained Rashaad, Khulan, Marcassin and Alicia.
* PintSizedPowerhouse: Well, we never see him in action, but according to everyone else, he should be pretty powerful. The closest we come to witnessing his power is in [[spoiler:the Solosseum, where he's the final match. Appropriate to the trope, instead of using the biggest, most powerful Nobilia type creatures against you (which are all stronger than normal familiars by their very nature), Solomon just uses gold versions of Oliver, Esther, and Swaine's starter familiars in their base form (so Mite, Drongo, and Hurly respectively). And they're strong enough to kick the ass of a max leveled party of familiars to boot!]]

* EmotionalBruiser: Oliver takes two parts of his heart over the course of the story.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: He's probably the only other character aside from Solomon who hardly cares for Oliver's manners, but he loves his land and would do anything to help it and its Queen, [[spoiler:including admitting that he loves Queen Khulan in order to help mend her broken heart.]]

A mysterious, ghostly boy who speaks to Oliver in riddles, and rewards him whenever he can figure them out. The player encounters him in various villages throughout the game.

* DeadpanSnarker: He lets out a few snarks towards Oliver and Drippy, mostly towards the latter.
* ItsAllMyFault: [[spoiler:He feels that leaving Cassiopeia behind and ignoring her for the sake of revenge against the Council is what started this whole mess, and that being forced to wander the world as a ghost, [[LaserGuidedAmnesia blissfully unaware of his actions in life]] for the longest time, is apt punishment for what he had done. When his sidequest is finally over, he gives Oliver the alchemy plans for a powerful wand and simply asks him to save his queen.]]
* LaserGuidedAmnesia: The fact that Horace can't remember his life from when he was alive distresses him greatly. [[spoiler: It's later revealed that, among other things, he was a student of the Wizard King, took part in the Wizard Wars, was tasked to train Cassiopeia in magic (which is why he wrote the Wizard's Companion, to be a manual of sorts for the future queen), and was part of the Nazcaan Council of Twelve as the original "Gallus". He left the Council when he realized their true intentions, afraid that they were going to snuff him out like they did the Wizard King, leaving behind Cassiopeia, who had tried to deal with their cruelty to her kingdom by invoking the Forbidden Spell, [[MysticalPlague manna]], which she thought would save her kingdom due to her spellbook's lack of details on certain spells.]]
* MyGreatestFailure: [[spoiler: He firmly believes that it was his resignation from the Council of Twelve is what doomed Nazcaa to ruin, and his constant thoughts of revenge for their evils blinded him to his duty to Cassiopeia. Because he had only wrote down spells with their descriptions in the Wizard's Companion he gave, but ''not'' their drawbacks, he inadvertently set Cassiopeia on her StartOfDarkness, who, in a misguided attempt to save her kingdom, used the Manna spell, causing the utter destruction of Nazcaa and the eventual birth of the White Witch.]]

Not only does he join at a low level (depending on how extensively the player grinded the others), Marcassin turns out to be an inferior Oliver in gameplay, only surpassing Oliver's physical attack stat, which is useless for a wizard character. His spells aren't much better; they have a shorter cooldown timer than Oliver's, but they're also the ''same'' as Oliver's, barring the story specific ones that only Oliver can use, meaning Marcassin lacks the most powerful spells in the game. Worse still, since the other three party members already have roles (Esther for taming, Swaine for stealing), and [[CantDropTheHero you can't get rid of Oliver]], Marcassin's usefulness drops almost to nil.]]
