* YouShallNotPass: Proposed doing this to enable Naruto to escape with Sakura, but Naruto, his resolve restored, was able to defeat Gaara.

* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome: Despite Naruto's status as TheRedeemer, Sasuke's ultimate choice to redeem himself in the final battle between him and Naruto comes from a decision that ''he'' chooses to take, not something that can be given to him or be convinced through a long speech that he can relate to. In the end, the only one who can truly redeem Sasuke, is ''Sasuke''.

* BigBad: [[InvokedTrope Invoked]] [[spoiler: after Obito, Madara, and Kaguya are defeated. Once he and Naruto manage to save the world, Sasuke announces his intentions to kill the five Kage, overthrow the current system, and establish himself as the new ultimate evil to unite the world. Naruto of course disagrees with this, and Sasuke challenges him for one final duel. While his defeat means his plan doesn't come close to getting off the ground, and in any event has [[PostClimaxConfrontation considerably lower stakes than the previous conflict]], Sasuke nevertheless serves as the FinalBoss of the entire series.]]

* BlueIsHeroic: His main color scheme is blue and he was indeed heroic in Part I, [[TookALevelInJerkass but]] [[BigBad not]] [[FallenHero a lot in]] [[UngratefulBastard Part II]].

** [[spoiler:After they both gain Hagoromo's power, Sasuke seemingly ends up with the shorter stick, as his power boost having mostly enhanced abilities he already had and giving him a more much powerful Perfect Susano'o, Rinnegan, and the SwapTeleportation Amenotejikara, while Naruto got several new powers out of the deal due to now having all nine Biju sealed inside him and mastering Senjutsu previously. However, Sasuke does end up getting several powerups after that battle finishes (including the [[EnergyAbsorption Preta Path]] and [[GravityMaster Deva Path]]), under the justification that it had simply taken him that long to get a handle on them. Naturally, his finally catching up sets the stage for him to assume the mantle of the manga's final BigBad.]]

* BigBadWannabe: While he does become a genuine threat at several points throughout the story, he is always overshadowed by even greater ones. Even Naruto's final fight against him is a PostClimaxConfrontation compared to the climactic battle against Kaguya beforehand.

* {{Hypocrite}}: During their fight, he calls out Kakashi for using the Sharingan, which doesn't belong to him......all while Sasuke himself keeps using the Chidori (Kakashi's jutsu) with reckless abandon.

* MagicalEye: The Sharingan and then later the Mangenkyou Sharingan, and then finally the Eternal Magenkyou Sharingan. After receiving half of Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki's chakra, Sasuke's left Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan made way for the Rinnegan.

* ShockAndAwe: He can use the Lightning Release, which takes the form of his primary jutsu the [[RazorSharpHand Chidori]] that he learns from Kakashi. [[AbsurdCuttingPower While effective at piercing targets]], the standard Chidori is a very close-range attack. For this reason, Sasuke uses the principles of Chidori to create several long-range jutsu in Part II, such as [[SpontaneousWeaponCreation throwable needles]], extendable swords, and scattershot streams. [[AbsurdlySharpBlade He often channels his lightning chakra into his Sword of Kusanagi to increase its cutting power.]]

* {{Bishonen}}: In-universe, almost every female character he met has noticed how good-looking he is. Males, too.

* EasilyForgiven: Played straight by Orochimaru, Jugo, Suigetsu, and Karin. Averted by the Shinobi Army, who rationally call him out on being ridiculous in thinking he can just come back as if nothing happened. Finally, on a personal level, [[LoveMartyr Sakura]] and [[TheMessiah Naruto]] are willing to forgive him and Naruto's continuing efforts to redeem him, by hook or by crook.

* ExpositoryHairstyleChange: Sasuke starts out with his bangs parted from the middle during Part I and halfway through Part II. After he learns the truth about his brother Itachi and [[GoMadFromTheRevelation loses his mind over it]], his bangs fall down and cover his forehead for the rest of Part II. Sasuke later takes on a PeekABangs hairstyle in his adult years, covering his Rinnegan with his hair.

* PeekABangs: Several years later in the epilogue, he covers his left eye with his hair. It makes him look remarkably like Madara.

* ShapingYourAttacks: His [[BladeOnAStick Chidori Eisou]], [[OurDragonsAreDifferent Great Dragon Fire]], and [[FlamingSword Sword of Kagatsuchi]] abilities.

* StoryBreakerPower: While he has a wide array of powerful techniques thanks to his [[spoiler:Rinnegan]], it's his Amenotejikara that is the most broken. With it, he can [[SwapTeleportation swap objects within his field of vision in an instant]]. Offensively, he can teleport any opponent into a trap or an incoming attack, with its instantaneous nature giving the opponent little time to defend themselves. Defensively, he can use it to teleport himself out of a bind, and even swap places with his opponent [[HoistByHisOwnPetard and get them caught in their own techniques]]. [[spoiler:Isshiki, despite being more powerful than Naruto and Sasuke combined, found this teleportation technique extremely troublesome and made it his priority to take out Sasuke first.]]

* TheStoic: Much more in Part II where he constantly has a blank face. His moods are more diverse in Part I: annoyment, excitement, concern... It shows just how much the darkness has consumed by this point

** Another highlight of this is a lot of the reasoning for most of Sasuke's ChronicBackstabbingDisorder comes from "if I stay loyal to this person, I do not benefit from it", and then promptly abandons or attempts to kill his former ally soon after.

* StrongFamilyResemblance: He bears a great deal of similarity to his mother.

* BerserkButton: Throughout Part I and a good chunk of Part II, the mere mention or presence of Itachi. After learning the truth, any remark about his clan, ''especially'' if it's about Itachi, drives Sasuke into homicidal rage.

* KickTheSonOfABitch: His usual MO, and what keeps him from becoming truly irredeemable from a plot perspective. Orochimaru, Deidara, Danzo... even [[DevotedToYou Karin]] could count under this. Despite Karin being his ally for the duration of part II, she was still part of [[AxCrazy Orochimaru's faction]], specifically helping him experiment on unwilling prisoners (notably [[MakingASplash Suigetsu]]) and preventing said prisoners from escaping. Amusingly, Orochimaru attributes this to nature and even though likewise stabbed by Sasuke doesn't hold a grudge against him.

* AlmightyJanitor: Sasuke is not even assigned a ninja rank, since he's a nuke nin, but is on par with the Seventh Hokage in power.

* ObliviousToLove: Played with. It is not sure if Sasuke is genuinely oblivious or if he does it on purpose. He always ignored the affections of Sakura and Karin. Even after being married to Sakura, Sasuke is never around and ignores her affections.

** Back before his FaceHeelTurn, he was this. Though he presented a cold façade, he grew to care about Naruto and Sakura, openly risking his life for theirs and coming to consider them his true companions before he let his desire to grow stronger overcome him.

* OffModel: In Chapter 700+8, he is drawn with his original Mangekyo Sharingan rather than his Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan.

* NamedAfterSomebodyFamous: "Sasuke" comes from famous folktale ninja Sarutobi Sasuke. It's also the name of the Third Hokage's father, who Mikoto named him after.
* NamesTheSame: InUniverse, his CoolSword, "{{Kusanagi}}", is not the only Kusanagi, nor is it the original. It was named after the sword of Orochimaru.
