Not because she's a failure, but out of necessity, Camie is sent away to the remedial class so what happened to her can be better studied and Camie can have a chance to actually prove herself. Gang Orca thinks she's no good and fellow classmate Seiji regards her as an idiot. Then she meets a group of little kids as part of her training and unwittingly gets the girls turned against her and calling her a hussy, realizing they're already at that age where they've developed strong feelings for boys and the accompanying jealousy streaks.

* {{Foil}}: He's basically a version of Ida that wants to force his will on everyone so badly that it gets in the way of what he really should be doing, being a pillar for others to lean on when they need help.

** Interestingly enough, to Yoarashi. Both of them are tall, dark-haired youths with elemental based Quirks (Yoarashi's BlowYouAway compared to his DishingOutDirt), both are considered to be TheAce in their respective schools and both at first glance are openly friendly and charming, but turns out there is a lot more behind their character (Yoarashi's JerkassToOne attitude towards Todoroki due to SinsOfOurFathers compared to Shindo's true BitchInSheepsClothing personality). Their main differences mainly being how they react towards their rivals. Shindo's reaction to seeing the U.A. students being considerably better and more skilled than they were in the Sports Festival is genuine BloodKnight delight, while Yoarashi is incapable of letting go of his preconceived notions of Todoroki. Shindo's interaction with Midoriya is also a stark contrast to the Yoarashi/Todoroki rivalry. When Midoriya saves him from being blasted by the collateral damage created by the Yoarashi and Todoroki fight, he's not only truly appreciative of the act but later has absolutely no trouble in cooperating with Midoriya in their assault against Gang Orca, showing that Shindo is fully capable of prioritizing and compromising. Yoarashi and Todoroki are only capable of fighting Gang Orca after their mutual JerkassRealization due to Midoriya calling them out for their pettiness and even then it's too late for either of them to pass the exam.
** While Bakugo is unimpressed by the latter's false smiles and manipulative behavior, Shindo's HairTriggerTemper and {{Determinator}} characteristics mean the two come across as far more similar than initially implied. The main difference being that Bakugo doesn't care about hiding his dickishness at all.

* {{Foil}}: To Yaoyorozu, sharing with her being the most intelligent members of their teams and their high-class nature, but she is much more ruthless and mean than Yaoyorozu. She also prioritizes passing the test over her friends and is defeated by Yaoyorozu's team doing the opposite and valuing both equally.

* BrutalHonesty: After seemingly patching things up with Shoto Todoroki in the fallout from the Provisional Hero License Exam, he admits that while he is sorry [[spoiler:he ruined things for both of them]], [[SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome nothing has changed, and he still doesn't like him]]. However, Inasa does apologize for that being the case and later makes an effort to befriend him.

* BadassBaritone: He's capable enough to take out a large number of license examinees, and in Japanese, he speaks with a notably deep voice.

* TheAce: He actually had the highest scores for recommended students for U.A., putting him above even Todoroki. In the first part of the provisional hero license exam, he passes the first stage by eliminating ''120'' participants at once using his wind Quirk. To top it all off, he only needed to eliminate ''two'' to pass.

* BlowYouAway: His Quirk, which when first displayed, created a huge whirlwind.

* StrongAndSkilled: His massive whirlwinds aren't just random gusts; they're very carefully controlled to get the results he wants. Mera notices that when Yoarashi uses his Quirk to get multiple "victims" to the triage center, he's not just whirling them up in a tornado (which would be an extraordinarily bad idea, since it could further injure them), he's actually using very fine manipulations specific to each individual person he's carrying to give them the most gentle journey possible.

* MajorInjuryUnderreaction: He bows to apologize so hard that he hits his head on the floor, and thus breaks the sidewalk, leaving his head badly bleeding. When someone points this out, he just says it's okay:

* IncomingHam: In his debut, he sneaks into the crowd of Class 1-A students and joins in on shouting their motto of "Plus Ultra!"

* MasterOfIllusion: Her Quirk, "Glamour", allows her to cast illusions.

* BadPowersGoodPeople: [[BodyHorror Can control any flesh he touches]], turning people into blobs. Despite these nasty-looking powers, he holds a serious, if elitist, view towards being a hero.

* GRatedStoner: It's fairly subtle, but Camie has a hippie theme going on. Her default mood is happy and mellow, she speaks with so much slang that it's indecipherable, and her quirk is a smoke that makes people see things that aren't real.

* LifeOfTheParty: [[AllThereInTheManual The Ultra Analysis Book]] gives her 6 out of 6 in the "party animal" category.

* FatalFlaw: Self-righteousness and arrogance. Shishikura views himself as someone who must force others to change to his will while he constantly looks down on others. He sees himself as a righteous embodiment of what a hero should be and is always quick to demean others who he feels don't live up to his expectations. His arrogance ultimately leads him to view Bakugo, Kirishima and Kaminari as beneath him, causing him to underestimate them and be eliminated from the Licensing Exam. Unfortunately, it's heavily implied that he didn't learn his lesson and is still viewing others as beneath him in spite of his own failures.

* HypocriticalHumor: Easy to miss, but he never refers to the UA students by name, opting to insult Bakugo and Todoroki by calling them "failures" instead. When [[HatesEveryoneEqually Bakugo]] [[TheNicknamer gives him an insulting nickname]] without bothering to remember his name (which he does with almost everyone), he gets very offended. As noted below, the nickname stuck.
* InSeriesNickname: Kaminari has started to call him "Meat-senpai", which Bakugo also took to but mostly in order to insult him. Bakugo may even call him just "Meat" which is even more insulting.
* {{Jerkass}}: He's introduced as a rather unfriendly, callous person and maintains the attitude even after he's failed his license exam.

* {{Pride}}: Seems to have a superiority complex, constantly being shown to enjoy [[YouFightLikeACow insulting his opponents' intelligence, during battle]].

* ThresholdGuardian: Sees himself as this. He believes that, since the exam was made so only the creme de lá creme of the heroes in training can get a chance, he should use his Quirk to make it as impossible as he can for anyone he comes in contact with to have a chance to pass. This means turning them all into blobs, so that they wouldn't be able to put up a fight. [[spoiler:Ironically, this means he fails the ''actual'' SecretTestOfCharacter which was to encourage young heroes to cooperate for the greater good.]]
* TokenEvilTeammate: [[DownplayedTrope Downplayed]], he's not evil at all, but it's made clear that he's the only one who mocks the other schools' students while his schoolmates want to get along well.
* TooCleverByHalf: Shishikura quickly shows himself to be one of the strongest students taking the license exam, taking on [[CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass Kaminari]], [[MadeOfIron Kirishima]] and [[TheAce Bakugo]] at the same time and being one of the very few people to best the latter in a fight. Even so, his eventual defeat is a predictable result of spending a high-volume, time-sensitive exam arrogantly provoking everyone you see.

* YouFightLikeACow: Spends more time taunting Bakugo than he does actually attacking him.

* ClassRepresentative: Serves as this for his class, apparently chosen by the staff due to his grades and general conduct. This is made clear when he is shown to be much nicer and more levelheaded than his peers.

* WholeCostumeReference: Blatantly resembles [[Franchise/TheAddamsFamily Cousin Itt]], in the terms of being completely covered by shaggy hair that obscures his face.

* TheAce: Implied to be this for Ketsubutsu, having the strongest Quirk and being TheStrategist. He's even able to fight through being paralyzed by Gang Orca's sonic cries.
* BeautyIsBad: Downplayed. Perhaps the best-looking male contestant of the Provisional License Exam. Also a shameless deceiver, albeit not a villain.
