* PowerGlows: One For All is represented often as a glowing light of various colors passed from user to user. When Midoriya uses it, it's represented as red glowing lines traveling through his body and green lighting sparking around him. When Midoriya briefly can use it at 100% with Eri's help, his hair and eyes glow.

* CowardlyLion: Likely due to his younger age and particularly traumatic death, En is the most visibly shaken and fearful of [[PersonOfMassDestruction Shigaraki]] at the series' climax. He was still chosen as a One For All successor and the others treat him as an equal, so considering that and Shigaraki becoming bar none the most dangerous villain in the story, it's understandable why he's so scared.

** Yoichi's useless Transfer Quirk was weak just like him. But it was also the only Quirk that was immune to All For One's Quirk just like him [[HeartIsAnAwesomePower who defied All For One to the end.]] The Quirk can be willingly passed to others, representing Yoichi's selflessness. Furthermore, like his body, it's revealed that Yoichi's Quirk was left too frail and incomplete from All For One's monopolisation of nutrients from their mother, meaning it didn't have any power on its own. It wasn't until it received outside aid from All For One giving Yoichi the stockpiling Quirk that his Quirk Factor could assimilate it to become a genuine power Yoichi could use himself, much like Yoichi's attempts to stop his twin's evil were useless until he received aid from Kudo and Bruce. Going even further, the PsychicLink between the two Quirks and similar abilities they both posses all but state that if Yoichi's Quirk had developed naturally, held have developed his own version of All For One, the power to give ''and'' take Quirks, reflecting how both Quirks were actually held by what should have been twin siblings, before All For One's selfishness left Yoichi malformed.

* GoneHorriblyWrong: He's the one that introduced All For One to comic books in their youth, noting how the images could convey a message about the hopes and dreams of the fictional characters, hoping to teach his brother than GoodFeelsGood. Unfortunately, All For One [[RootingForTheEmpire identified more with the Demon Lord]] in the comic and went on the model his behaviour and actions on him, learning how to [[PragmaticVillainy modify his psychopathic behaviour to achieve his desires]]. Yoichi tried to dissuade him from this by pointing out how TheGoodGuysAlwaysWin, only for his twin to arrogantly dismiss that part of the fantasy. By the present day this turned into GoneHorriblyRight instead, as becoming a genuine CardCarryingVillain did indeed make All For One a less effective threat against the heroes than he believed, much to Yoichi's [[IWarnedYou solemn sadness]].
* GreaterScopeParagon: As the source of "One For All", and thus the root of the century-long resistance against All For One. Interestingly, he actually failed to defeat his brother in the past and was forced to leave his task to his successors.

** The narrative makes it clear that whilst Yoichi's body and Quirk were left weakened and incomplete from his brother's obsession with taking, the one part of Yoichi that [[LackOfEmpathy All For One]] could never take from him was his caring heart. Accordingly, his obsession with claiming Yoichi is framed in such a manner that makes it seem like All For One wants to take Yoichi's heart form himself in order to feel "complete" at last.

* IdenticalStranger: Yoichi bears a strong semblance to Tomura Shigaraki since they both have a slender build as well as similar hairstyles. All For One even bestowed upon Tomura his own claimed family name when giving him a MeaningfulRename, further drawing parallels to Yoichi, who was similarly "named" in such a way to mark his as All For One's first possession. TheReveal that All For One killed Yoichi in an emotional outburst at his brother's rejection of his evil ways and left behind only his severed hand as a memento of him further implies that All For One is [[PsychologicalProjection intentionally trying to mould Tomura in his brother's image]], to become the "yoichi" he wanted by his side. This gives further creepy undertones to his singular focus on assimilating Tomura's personality to "become" him as his Perfected Demon Lord self.

** He's the GreaterScopeParagon to an entire generation of heroes, including the strongest ones in the world by the present date. Despite that, he's the only one of them that never actually became a hero in his own right, with the others all having preformed resistance actions against All For One's empire during the early days, or taking up the role as a hero once the profession started to become more widespread. Yoichi's frail body and non-combat quirk meant that he could never once actually save anybody through his own actions, only provide aid and support to those that could.

* UndignifiedDeath: All For One claims that her death at his hand was utterly shameful, but All Might shut him up before he can elaborate. Given [[EvilCannotComprehendGood his way of thinking]] though, it's probable that he alone would hold that opinion. Sadly, it ''is'' revealed much later on though that All For One likely mutilated her body to a certain extent during their fatal encounter, as he eventually gives Shigaraki her severed, embalmed hand as another one of his gruesome "mementos". With that info combined with All For One's sadistic nature, it's not hard to imagine what happened.

* FourIsDeath: Is the fourth user of One For All, had a Quirk that warned him of life-threatening danger, and he died at the age of 40 due to old age, rather than in battle like other wielders. Additionally, the circumstance of his death is an essential clue to the revelation of One For All being potentially lethal [[RapidAging by draining the lifespan]] of wielders who already have Quirks. [[spoiler:Finally, he is the first to be stolen by Shigaraki.]]

With All For One possessing Tomura against his will, Yoichi is currently the only person All For One has been shown to apparently care about, refusing to (deliberately) kill him despite his rebellion and instead trying to find a middle ground with him. However, the 'pet' aspect is more prevalent than the 'morality', as Yoichi was kept locked alone in a room and denied any agency in his life until he 'willingly' submitted to his brother's rule, either by coercion or by force, akin to an abused dog mistreated by its owner, a situation that was exacerbated by his health issues, as All For One was the only one who visited the room to persistently try and convince him to [[WeCanRuleTogether join him]]. Even when All For one is shown to be [[OOCIsSeriousBusiness uncharacteristically saddened]] by his passing, that's ultimately a result of All for For [[NeverMyFault refusing to admit that, in a possessive outburst, he was the one who killed his 'first' possession]] when Kudo [[ItsAllAboutMe 'stole' Yoichi from his grasp]]; this is the only way All For One can understand his attachment with Yoichi.

* NoNameGiven: In chapter 237, his family name is revealed to be Shigaraki, but his first name is not mentioned. Chapter 310 finally reveals his first name: Yoichi. It turns out he technically doesn't ''have'' a family name, as "Yoichi"[[labelnote:*]]containing the kanji 与 which means “bestow” or “give”, and 一 which means “one”, thus "One who Gives."[[/labelnote]]was the name given to him by his brother to mark him as the first possession All For One had.

* AlwaysSomeoneBetter: One For All's SuperEmpowering trait eventually makes it this to its twin, All For One. Said quirk can steal any power for the user's own ends. Having gained a life-extending quirk, All For One has amassed a large collection of powers by the modern day, but as training and refining each individual quirk would be an exhaustive effort when he can simply steal similar powers to 'stack' together, All For One himself has never refined any of the quirks he possesses beyond their 'base' state. One For All instead passively boosts both the base strength of the user and ''all'' its combined powers over the years, so even weak Quirks like those of the prior users become formidable by the modern day. All For One's damaged body means that whilst he can match One For All's strength by the present, he has to devote a considerable number of his available quirks together just for that purpose, and what remaining quirks he does possess aren't as powerful outside those parameters despite his versatility. It's implied that a great deal of All For One's obsession with One For All is his awareness of this.

* AssimilationPlot: All For One's goal throughout the generations has been to find a way to reclaim his long-lost brother after he was "stolen" (read:liberated) from his grasp, and after his physical death, this desire shifted into a mania with absorbing his remnant Quirk to "reunite" them and ensure Yoichi is never again taken from him. Accordingly, a significant chunk of the manga's plot is his efforts in preparing Tomura to succeed where he cannot and merge his Quirk with his Twin's within Tomura's body. The fact that Tomura has been [[IdenticalStranger intentionally groomed in Yoichi's image]] and All For One sees [[FusionDance the resulting being]] as the "Perfected Demon Lord" has all sorts of [[{{Yandere}} disturbing implications]].
* BlessedWithSuck: It has been discussed that a Quirkless person is a much more suitable bearer of One For All than someone who has a Quirk of their own because, metaphorically speaking, they are an "empty cup" that can be filled without spilling over. Those born with a Quirk, the "full cup" that spills over, however, are more likely to die young due to One For All infusing them with multiple Quirks in addition to their own and overtaxing their bodies.
* CastFromLifespan: The super-enhanced Quirk causes anyone born with a Quirk who inherits it [[RapidAging to age rapidly]]-- though apparently, [[OlderThanTheyLook without showing any physical signs of their actual age]] until their time runs out. Yoichi Shigaraki, or rather his vestige within One For All, used the analogy of a full wine glass overflowing vs an empty one slowly filling up to demonstrate that people born with a Quirk cannot manage [[DeadlyUpgrade this power surge]] for more than 2 decades before it finally takes its toll. However, All Might and Deku are immune to this deadly drawback, as both were [[CursedWithAwesome born Quirkless]]. However, the problem with finding a tenth user is that the number of Quirkless people in the world is declining rapidly (only being about 20% of the population at the series start) and even if Midoriya could find one to pass it onto, it may be too risky to attempt, as they may not withstand the power One For All has accumulated across ''nine generations''.
* CombatAndSupport: As En outlines, none of the 6 additional Quirks contained within One For All were finishing moves in their own right, but acted as support options for their wielders using the main stockpiled power in fighting against All For One. By Izuku's time, having access to all of them enables him to use them as enhancements to his main striking ability with One For All, and them being likewise enhanced by their incubation within the Quirk means that the support options Izuku can unleash with them are much more varied than their original wielders. They can even be broken down into further individual categories for supporting Izuku in combat (Gearshift and Fa Jin), traversal (Black Whip and Float) and environmental support (Smokescreen and Danger Sense).

* DifficultButAwesome: Because One For All gets more powerful with each generation of user that it's passed onto, its power has grown to the point where it's dangerous for anyone inexperienced to use it in anything but the smallest fractions of its capability. It takes extensive training and gradual but persistent usage to be able to handle One For All to its fullest potential. However, once you do get the hang of it, it's the most ridiculously overpowered Quirk in the series. Especially when you take into account that it is now strong enough to manifest the Quirks held by the previous users. That said, if the user is not prepared to handle their new powers, the same problem arises as these Quirks are all super-charged far above what they were capable of before.

* TheUnreveal: It is unknown how exactly did Yoichi discover he could transfer One For All to someone else.

* TheHeart: This basically seems to be his role within the vestiges, especially with his frail body and quirk making him more a SupportPartyMember in effect to the more frontline fighters who inherited One For All after him. He's the one to encourage and motivate Izuku despite the enormity of the task before him, comforts Yagi's shade and Nana Shimura when they're moved to tears by Izuku's determination to save Tomura because of the example All Might gave him of what a true hero was, and he's the one to ultimately convince the Second and Third wielders to lend Izuku their aid, despite them thinking the same idealistic desire to SaveTheVillain is [[SillyRabbitIdealismIsForKids ridiculous]]. Accordingly, during All For One's attempt to steal One For All, he's able to provide the greatest resistance against his brother's PowerParasite abilities, with All For One noting that his willpower is every inch a match for his own.

* EveryoneHasStandards: He's a hardcore AntiHero who thinks Midoria's idealism is impractical for the task they'll have to face, and has killed enemies in the past as part of his resistance against All For One, but even he didn't have it in him to coldly execute Yoichi when they discovered him sealed in the vault under his brother's "protective" care. When All For One impulsively killed Yoichi in a moment of anger, he and Kudo are shown to be [[KinslayingIsASpecialKindOfEvil equally affected by the act]], with All For One falling into a stone-faced VillainousBSOD as contrasted to Kudo's own look of shock and disgust at him, with tears forming in his eyes.

* AlwaysSomeoneBetter: One For All's SuperEmpowering trait is revealed to eventually make it this to its twin, All For One. Said quirk can steal any power for the user's own ends, but that comes with a limit based on the amount of quirks the user can find and re-appropriate. Having gained a life-extending quirk, All For One has amassed a large collection of powers by the modern day, but as training and refining each individual quirk would be an exhaustive effort when he can simply steal similar powers to 'stack' together, All For One himself has never refined any of the quirks he possesses beyond their 'base' state. Additionally, the amount of quirks he can hold at once has a hard physical limit based on his body's ability to contain so much amassed power, further limiting the potential applications that All For One's quirk can achieve. One For All instead passively boosts both the base strength of the user and ''all'' its combined powers over the years, meaning that even weak quirks like those possessed by the prior users become formidable weapons by the modern day. All For One's damaged body means that whilst he can match One For All's strength by the present, he has to devote a considerable number of his available quirks together just for that purpose, and what remaining quirks he does possess aren't as powerful outside those parameters despite his versatility, such as a single heat-resistance quirk being overpowered because he didn't have more powers he could stack alongside it. It's implied that a great deal of All For One's obsession with One For All is his awareness of this, and that gaining its ability to passively buff his multitudes of quirks would effectively make him a god-like being.

However, the problem with this and the question of finding a tenth user is that the number of Quirkless people in the world is declining rapidly (only being about 20% of the population at the series start) and even if Midoriya was lucky enough to find one to pass it onto, it would be too risky to even do because they would never be able to handle all the power One For All has accumulated across ''nine generations''.

** It also turns out that heart is ''literally'' the reason why their awesome power was able to oppose AFO in the first place. Hawks theories that, despite the long-standing animosity between him and the Users, AFO was never able to steal OFA himself because [[TheSociopath he lacked strong enough emotional willpower]] to overcome OFA's inherent resistance to his PowerParasite abilities. To this end, he goes as far as grooming Tomura into his successor and heir, motivating him to steal the quirk on his behalf and claim OFA in his stead, in essence leaving it to somebody else with a sufficiently powerful 'heart' of hatred to overcome their combined willpower when he himself is [[TheHeartless fundamentally incapable]] of doing so.

** OFA is able to be passed onto another person following the holder's willpower, even if the intended target were to refuse accepting OFA themselves. This nature also allows OFA to resist AFO's absorption because it's nature as ManySpiritsInsideOfOne gives it the combined emotional willpower to refuse AFO's ability to non-consensually steal it. However, this is dependant on the willpower of the current holder being stronger than the intended thief's. [[TheSociopath All For One]] himself cannot summon up a strong enough emotional willpower to steal OFA, despite the generations-long feud with the holders, but [[ThePowerOfHate Tomura]] is able to start eroding OFA's resistance when he's pulled into a mental tug-of-war between himself and Izuku. Accordingly, AFO's plans following the failure of his first attempt is to simultaneously let Tomura rest and recuperate himself to be better prepared for round 2, whilst also simultaneously forcing Izuku into situations that will [[BreakTheBadass demoralize him]] and render OFA more vulnerable to his next attempt to steal it.

*** Smokescreen can blind the target but can also blind the user if used too much.

* ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice: All For One killed him this way, apparently using the horn Quirk he stole from his mother.

* MySignificanceSenseIsTingling: For some reason, he could sense Tomura awakening with greater power, and [[HearingVoices warns Midoriya about it, telling him to stop Tomura.]] Also sensed the fighter pilots circling back around to give Midoriya a lift to U.A. when he'd been transported away from where he needed to be during the FinalBattle.

* AnArmAndALeg: Ee lost his right arm in his final battle against All For One.

* AnArmAndALeg: It seems that he lost his right arm in his final battle against All For One.

* SmokeOut: His Quirk produces a smoke cover that obscures the vision. Obviously, it's not really meant for straight combat, but it works wonders for sneaking around.
* SupportPartyMember: Unlike the previously revealed One For All Quirks (Black Whip, Float, Danger Sense), the ability to produce a smoke cover doesn't lend itself much to direct combat or providing a physical advantage. Where it shines is providing a distraction and limiting enemy vision and movement.

* GutturalGrowler: In the anime's English dub, Banjo has a coarse, raspy and higher voice than in Japanese. Nevertheless, it fits with his gruffness.

* GutturalGrowler: Creator/SoichiroHoshi plays Yoichi with a sickly vocal fry that fits his frail physique and overall health, as described by All Might.
