* FaceOfAThug: When compared to Bagheera and the wolves, his bald head, beat-up face, and disheveled fur make him look like an antagonist. Despite this, he is noble member of the pack.

* AnimalsNotToScale: She is much bigger than any real-life snake, closer in size to a prehistoric ''Titanoboa''.

* ScrewThisImOutOfHere: When he sees the elephants emerging from the forest to confront Shere Khan, Tabaqui abandons his master to fend for himself.

* GrumpyBear: A literal example. Even though he's occasionally jovial, he does have a bit of a temper, and doesn't allow anyone to fumble around while training.

* SeldomSeenSpecies: He is most likely a striped hyena, although he also shares traits with the equally obscure brown hyena (though the giggling sounds he makes resemble the vocalization of the better-known spotted hyena).

* SeldomSeenSpecies: The troop consists of obscure monkey species: gray langur, lion-tailed macaque, and bonnet macaque.

* MeanBrit: Invoked. He speaks with a Cockney accent, which is often stereotypical of crass, uncouth characters even in British media. Subverted in that he's still a JerkWithAHeartOfGold.
