* PetTheDog: Believe it or not, in the earliest stories, he was genuinely rewarding Mortadelo and Filemon when they succeed (albeit quite painfully) their mission. Unfortunately, said reward was linked to a series of AmusingInjuries received by Mortadelo, Filemon or both (Ex: whisky with ices cubes after a mission on the North Pole) and they retaliate by beating the crap out the Super. Take ''La caja de los diez cerrojos'' as an example of this RunningGag.

* MasterActor: Subverted. While he ''does'' sometimes accomplish perfectly the tasks of his disguises, he usually only has [[PaperThinDisguise the basic knowledge on how to do keep up the deception]] and [[WalkingDisasterArea without fail provoke major disasters]]

* AscendedExtra: Watching the animated series could give the impression he was as much of a regular character as everybody else in the comics's main cast, which he was not.

* TheDitz: He is not the brightest in the bulb.

* BaldOfAwesome: Another subversion. He lacks hair on top, and is not exactly a great example for the rest of the TIA.
* BastardBastard: A promotional material revealed he is [[CheatingWithTheMilkman the son of his family's butane seller]].

* LargeAndInCharge: Subverted. He is shorter than Filemón who is himself shorter than Mortadelo. However, in ''Dibujados Tu Solito'' which is an instruction manuel on how to draw the characters, [[WordofGod Ibanez says himself]] that El Súper is in fact taller than Filemon.

* OnlyOneName: In the comics themselves, he is just known as Vicente. His surname was officially revealed later.
* PointyHairedBoss: Downplayed. He is not an example of competence, but he compares favourably to the title agents, and it is implied he is overall a good executive when he does not have to directly treat subordinates.

* AbsentMindedProfessor: Mostly averted, although he can fall on it from time to time, especially when the plot call for one of his inventions to be stolen or lost.

* ForScience: Many of the missions given to the titular due are testing Bacterio's creations.

* MadScientist: Mortadelo considers him one, and it is not unaccurate given that Bacterio checks many of the points (he builds things without blueprints, uses obviously forced experiment subjects, does self-experimentation, is a bit of a sadist, etc). However, he works for the good guys and has never shown to be anything other than a dutiful government agent.

* ShorterMeansSmarter: ''Dibujados Tu Solito'', a promotional album for drawing the characters reveal that he is the shortest of the main cast.

* BigBeautifulWoman: Although she is round plump, there ''are'' characters who find her attractive, especially overweight and/or obese like her. She has used this to play a HeroicSeductress as a last resource.

* LimitedWardrobe: A red dress with black kneeboots, although she can change it if the story needs it.

* SexySecretary: She believes herself to be it (although recent chapters have hinted she is at least somewhat aware of her weight), while the reality is the opposite.

* NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast: "Bestiájez" is actually a fictitious surname created out of the colloquial Spanish word ''bestiajo'', meaning "big beast" or "brutish". It could be translated to English as "Bruteson".

* RunningGag: Every time he appeared, he would announce from another room that he had finally found Mortadelo and Filemón, followed by the Supervisor making a believable assumption about where had they run away to; then he would enter the room dragging them behind him and revealing they were much, much far away than their chief had imagined (as in other countries). This gag was inherited by Bestiájez's sucessors.

* BadBoss: Downplayed. While he has proved to be almost as short-tempered and abusive as the Supervisor if pressed enough, he is clearly a much more reasonable individual.

* AlmightyJanitor: In a sense. His disguise skills border RealityWarper field, and he has occasionally shown to be a very efficient agent when getting serious, but he is still a low ranked TIA agent with a painfully low payment. Justified because most of the time he is a bumbling moron.
* BaldOfAwesome: Subverted. He does not have a single hair on his head, and while he ''can'' perform some awesome feats, he is not exactly an awesome secret agent. Interestingly, he had a spectacular mane of hair back when he joined the TIA, but lost all of it due to an experimental lotion by Dr. Bacterio (and never forgave him for it).
* CharacterizationMarchesOn: In the series's beginnings, he carried an umbrella and wore a bowler hat which served as a {{Hammerspace}}, and also had his mouth hidden by his shirt's neck (and perpetually squinted eyes). He dropped all of those traits pretty fast.

* ImpossibleThief: Although this trope is often used in the series, Mortadelo is the character who does it the most frequently: he switch a valuable item , a MacGuffin or themselves when trying to espace for something completely useless .It also have a unfortunate tendency to backfire when said object is a weapon or secret document.
* KibblesAndBits: A human example: his disguises usually feature his white shirt collar on top, even whenever they aren't humanoid or technically wearing anything. In fact, barring a few times that would qualify as EarlyInstallmentWeirdness, Mortadelo himself keeps the collar on even when barechested or entirely nude.

* UnskilledButStrong: He rarely makes a good use of it due to his dim-witted nature, but having the skill to turn into anything without limits is a powerful asset.

* BaldOfAwesome: Except by exactly two hairs, he is bald. Another subversions, as he is not as awesome as he thinks.
* BornUnlucky: Has possibly the worst luck of all the cast, and unlike them, he has not shapeshifting powers or high ranks to compensate it.

* DistinguishedGentlemansPipe: Only initially. During TheNineties it was occasionally shown to smoke regular cigars, and he often steals the Supervisor's Cuban ones.

* {{Hypocrite}}: Claims to be an ideal worker, but he often steals the Supervisor's expensive wine and cigars and talks behind the people's backs, and is punished for it.

* HelloNurse: Mortadelo and Filemon were rendered catatonic every time she enters the room.

* TheVamp: The Supervisor sometimes uses her feminine wiles to get Mortadelo and Filemón to do anything against her will.

* ChuckCunninghamSyndrome: Bestiájez only appeared as a full-fledged character during TheSeventies and TheEighties, after which Ibáñez would use a random SuspiciouslySimilarSubstitute to fulfill his role. However, the original was brought back for a single appearance in 2011, also a year in which an inexplicably similar character was introduced (see Identical Stranger below).

* TheBrute: He was employed by the Supervisor to chase and capture Mortadelo and Filemón whenever they ran way from the mission's briefing.

* SmallRoleBigImpact: Despite being just a sporadic character from a relatively ancient timeframe, he is exceptionally well remembered in popular culture, probably because the 1994 animated series adapted several of the chapters where he appeared. In fact, considering this was the first, only and last time he appeared in an adaptation (and that he had disappeared from the comics three years earlier), it is a feat that people still remember him so well.

He was also a PerpetualFrowner, and his surname was Gutiérrez, not Pi. He dropped most of those traits over time, although he retained the jacket for a comparatively longer time.

* HyperspaceArsenal: Whenever he chases Mortadelo, he wields giant weapons of several kinds. Sometimes it has been pointed in a tongue-in-cheek way that he would be a force if he used them in their missions.

* JerkassWithAHeartOfGold: He is rigid, ''very'' hot-tempered and also a bit pedantic, but not a bad guy overall.

* OnlyOneName: Inverted; he is the only with an official, established surname. The rest of the cast either lack it or have it only mentioned in promotional materials.
