* ForTheEvulz: About as intentionally malevolent as King Ghidorah, the Kraken goes out of its way to kill anyone and everyone that tries to leave or enter the island. Given that these people pose no real threat to the Kraken or it's territory, and its habit of tossing its kills as a taunt and challenge to Kong, Sam theorizes this thing is just a dick.

* RasputinianDeath: One of the chameleons endures falling hundreds of feet with Kong to crash to the ground, being thrown around and used as a living flail against one of its brethren and against the solid ground, and being ''repeatedly and ceaselessly'' smashed against a cliff face and the ground by Kong ''over and over'' before it finally stops getting back up. Another chameleon falls over a thousand feet to the hard ground ''and'' gets impaled through the chest upon landing, yet it still keeps fighting to get a snack inside its gullet until it's buried alive by a massive rockfall.

* TailSlap: One of them knocks the Island Girl off her feet and over a cliff edge with a flick of its tail.

* DynamicEntry: The first signs of most of its entries on the scene are its {{combat tentacles}} ambushing whoever's above the water, or, in the case of its massacre of the Island Girl's village, violently dragging idle boats on the water's surface below one by one.

* EvilTakesANap: It was hibernating underwater on the floor of one of Skull Island's bays, until Kong's blood accidentally woke it up.

* GlowingEyesOfDoom: Its eyes glow brightly underwater when it's destroying the ''Once Upon a Maritime'', and also when it tries to kill Kong underwater [[spoiler:and comes damn close to succeeding]].

* HomefieldAdvantage: {{Invoked|Trope}}. Ever since it's woken up and sought to usurp Kong's kingship, the Kraken has chosen to stay in Skull Island's offshore waters despite being capable of coming onto land, because it knows it'll have a superior advantage over the strictly-terrestrial Kong in the water if they fight there. Kong in turn, seeing the Kraken's ploy, sticks to land where he'll have an advantage, putting the two monsters in a stalemate. [[spoiler:Once Kong is finally lured to the coast, the Kraken fights him, and it almost manages to kill him by dragging him into the water and attempting to hold him on the ocean floor until he drowns]].

* KickTheDog: It attacks characters most of the time just because. It wont go just after people Kong cares about, but also after people that don't have anything to do with them. It attacks the Once Upon a Maritime crew without them even being involved with Kong.

to:

* KarmicDeath: After murdering Kong's charges -- traumatizing the Great Ape -- and after attempting to kill Kong himself, the Kraken is killed [[spoiler:brutally by Kong]].
* KickTheDog: It attacks characters most of the time just because. It wont go just after people Kong cares about, but also after people that don't have anything to do with them. It attacks the Once Upon a Maritime crew without them even being involved with Kong. Kong.
* KnightOfCerebus: The ''WesternAnimation/SkullIsland2023'' series has its share of laughs and humor, but whenever the Kraken appears onscreen in any shape or form, ''all'' the humor goes right out the window. Nearly ''every'' scene featuring the Kraken is punctuated by it successfully killing someone, oftentimes someone who's important to the heroes or whom the heroes are counting on to rescue them.

* LightIsNotGood: It's a mostly pale-colored, bioluminescent creature, and its biology produces ''dazzling'' displays underwater where the sunlight is dim -- it's also a psychopath which torments and kills just about every and anything it encounters, and the BigBad of the series.

* PowerPincers: It has a pair of gigantic, lobster-like pincers on the front of its body, which it uses to {{neck lift}} Kong and toss him far across the battlefield.

* RedEyesTakeWarning: It has pinkish colored eyes, and is one of the most sadistic and consciously malevolent kaiju in the Franchise/MonsterVerse.

to:

* RedEyesTakeWarning: {{Downplayed|Trope}}. It has pinkish colored eyes, and is one of the most sadistic and consciously malevolent kaiju in the Franchise/MonsterVerse.Franchise/MonsterVerse.
* RedIsViolent: Its second longer, more elastic set of tentacles are red, and it's an extremely malicious and psychotic {{kaiju}} serving as the BigBad of the ''Skull Island'' series.

* TechnicolorToxin: Its bio-electric stings also inject venom into its victims, which produce purplish-black {{tainted veins}} [[spoiler:in Mike]].

* GiantFlyer: An unnamed, red, hawk-like Titan capable of carrying both a human and Dog with ease in its talons.
* ItCanThink: It's clearly intelligent. It knows to hunt prey on the red grass fields and bring them to Kong's temple to feed its master, it knows to scout Kong's kingdom for threats to the balance, [[spoiler:it knows to actively protect the Island Girl on Kong's behalf in a battle where Kong is otherwise engaged, and it's visibly angry and vengeful when a Killer Chameleon bites its leg]].
* RedIsHeroic: It has crimson feathers and plumage, and it's an ally to Kong [[spoiler:who is revealed to be GoodAllAlong despite a dark start]].

to:

* BrutalBirdOfPrey: It's introduced as a ruthless, [[GiantFlyer giant]] bird of prey which lives above the red grasslands, chasing and [[KidnappingBirdOfPrey grabbing]] any prey it comes across, including humans [[spoiler:and Dog]], to carry away and presumably eat. [[spoiler:{{Subverted|Trope}} when it's revealed that the Hawk Monster is actually loyal to Kong, and has been bringing its catches from the grasslands to him for him to eat or do with as he pleases]].

talons with ease.
* GoodAllAlong: It turns out to be much less malevolent than initially thought. [[spoiler:The Hawk Monster initially appears to be a man-eating KidnappingBirdOfPrey, until it's revealed to actually be loyal to Kong and it brings Charlie and Dog to his home alive. The Hawk Monster also kept an eye on the balance of Skull Island, alerting Kong when the Killer Chameleons caused trouble, and [[NobleBirdOfPrey actively protecting the Island Girl on Kong's behalf]] while she was alive; in the Hawk Monster's youth]].

* KidnappingBirdOfPrey: It chases down any quarry it catches in the grass fields and carries them away in its talons.
* NobleBirdOfPrey: [[spoiler:It's actually Kong's loyal subordinate, who catches meat in order to feed him rather than itself, and it actively intervened to save his friend the Island Girl's life multiple times in the past]].
*
RedIsHeroic: It has crimson feathers and plumage, and it's an ally to Kong [[spoiler:who is [[spoiler:to Kong, as it's revealed to be GoodAllAlong despite a dark start]].start]].
* RedIsViolent: A crimson-colored BritalBirdOfPrey which reigns over Skull Island's red grasslands and carries away any prey it comes across there, including humans, to their doom. [[spoiler:{{Subverted|Trope}}, as the Hawk Monster is actually Kong's NobleBirdOfPrey who is bringing its catches to his temple, alive, and acts to protect those Kong cares about]].
* TheSilentBob: Like most intelligent monsters, the Hawk Monster doesn't say a word, but its actions, facial expressions and head tilts speak volumes. [[spoiler:It loyally served Kong in its youth, and in the present day, it still continues its practice of bringing the prey it catches to his temple to feed him]]. It gives a Killer Chameleon a clear {{death glare}} for painfully biting its leg, before it proceeds to send the chameleon into a deadly freefall. [[spoiler:When Kong and the Island Girl are buried under a rockfall, the Hawk Monster tilts its head in anticipation as it waits to see if they're okay]].
* SupernaturalGoldEyes: An intelligent GiantFlyer living on an IsleOfGiantHorrors which has bright yellow eyes.
* SuspiciouslySimilarSubstitute: A dark-red colored, gigantic BrutalBirdOfPrey [[spoiler:slash NobleBirdOfPrey, who serves the BigGood monster king as his sidekick]]. Basically, this creature is to Kong what Rodan is to Godzilla [[spoiler:in the old Showa movies]].

%%* * TheCameo: In ''WesternAnimation/SkullIsland2023''.It appears in [[Recap/SkullIsland2023S1E7YoureNotAKingYoureJustAStupidAnimal Episode 7]] of ''WesternAnimation/SkullIsland2023'', as a carcass that's been slaughtered by the Killer Chameleons.

* ThatsNoMoon: The first one that's encountered in ''Film/KongSkullIsland'' appears to be an island until it starts moving.

* {{Planimal}}: It looks like a long-necked turtle, but with aloe-like plant stalks growing out of its back in place of a shell, and with rocky-looking flesh, which enables it to pass itself off as a large plant when it's motionless.
* ThatsNoMoon: When it's first encountered, it's apparently resting, and Irene and Cap think it's just a giant aloe plant, until its body starts moving as it looks to vacate the area.

* HiddenInPlainSight: Its appearance naturally camoflages it in the red grasslands where it lives to deter its chances of being killed by predators.
* {{Planimal}}: It's shaped like and acts like a mammal, possibly a cat, but it has plant matter growing across its body, including giant red blades of grass on its back.

* SnakesAreSinister: In their brief appearance, they're shown stirring and hissing aggressively at nearby humans.

* TerrorDactyl: They look like miniature pterosaurs with their bat-like wings, small heads and elongated noses, and in numbers they'll happily kidnap a grown man into the air where they'll proceed to dismember him alive with their nose "saws".

* TerrorDactyl: They look like miniature pterosaurs like the Anurognathus out of ''Series/{{Primeval}}'', and they're hostile creatures which attack and bring down Aaron Brooks' helicopter, with their supplementary creature profile furthermore stating that they're completely psychotic and desire nothing more than to kill every living creature they come across.

* BackForTheFinale: They briefly reappear in the [[Recap/SkullIsland2023S1E8YoullNeverCatchAMonkeyThatWay final episode]] when the cast runs back through the same beach where they first encountered them.

* HorrifyingTheHorror: The sound of Kong's {{mighty roar}}, even at a distance, drives the crabs to ''immediately'' stop trying to catch their prey and to burrow back under the sand and stay there.
* MoleMonster: They conceal themselves in burrows beneath the sand on Skull Island's beach, tracking anyone who comes by by vibrations and lunging their giant pincers out of the sand at them.
* MonstrousMandibles: As we see when one of them fully emerges from the sand, their mouths look like those of the Film/{{Predator}} but with even more teeth.
* RedIsViolent: They have a burgundy-red color, and they're hostile, man-eating creature which attack anything that alerts them on the sand with their giant pincers.

%%* HypnoticEyes: Or rather Hyonotic Crystaline Underside.

*
HypnoticEyes: Or rather Hyonotic Crystaline Underside.rather, Hypnotic Crystalline Underside. Its underside is coated in bright, dazzling crystalline material, which appears to serve the purpose of mesmerizing its prey if Cap's reaction to it is any indication.
* ThatsNoMoon: They hide as gigantic boulders, curled up so that their visible insectoid appendages are hidden, until prey approaches or they're disturbed by an even larger creature.

* LivingMotionDetector: {{Subverted|Trope}}. Mike urges Charlie to keep absolutely still like him when the Croc Monster's gaze lands on them. Keeping still doesn't do anything to stop it from noticing them and attacking.
* MonochromaticEyes: It has pupiless yellow eyes.
* NeverSmileAtACrocodile: It looks like a gigantic, blue-ish crocodile, and it's a ''relentless'' SuperPersistentPredator which doesn't mind eating human flesh at all.
* SupernaturalGoldEyes: It's an abnormal crocodilian monster living on [[EldritchLocation Skull Island]] which has bright-yellow eyes.
* SuperPersistentPredator: It ''does not stop'' chasing after Charlie and Mike, trying to eat them. It chases them along a river's rapids, to a massive waterfall, but not even Charlie and Mike going over the fall deters the Croc Monster from swallowing its self-preservation based hesitance to risk jumping over the falls. The Croc's obsession with chasing down Charlie and Mike is made all the more egregious by the fact that it had ''just killed and eaten'' a grown man ''seconds'' before noticing the boys, with an uneaten leg leftover to spare.

* MonstrousCannibalism: {{Implied}} when the Giant Ant drags its dead brethren's husk into the darkness of the tunnels, over a minute before it emerges to hungrily investigate the kids.

to:

* BigCreepyCrawlies: It's a gigantic ant species which lives underground and seems to seriously consider eating Charlie, Mike and Annie.
* TheDarknessGazesBack: Its eyes [[GlowingEyesOfDoom shine in the dark]] before it emerges to menace Charlie, Mike and Annie.
* GlowingEyesOfDoom: It has glowing [[RedEyesOfDoom red]] eyes.

* RedEyesTakeWarning: Its eyes are red, and it's apparently carnivorous and aggressive to humans.
* WhiteAndRedAndEerieAllOver: It's pale gray/white except for its [[RedEyesTakeWarning red-glowing eyes]], and it's apparently a hostile creature which menaces Charlie, Mike and Annie when it thinks they're easy grub.

* LosingYourHead: {{Downplayed}}. The one which tries to eat Irene gets decapitated, and not only does its head still resist Cap and Sam's efforts to pry her free afterwards, but several moments later, it's still writhing and groaning as it dies.

to:

He waded across ''twenty miles of ocean'' to get back to Annie after the mercenaries took her off Annie's Island, Annie knows that her curling up and crying for help is always a surefire way to convince Dog to intervene to protect her, and Charlie manages to persuade Dog to be more co-operative with him by using Annie's name.

They are the two largest and strongest creatures on Skull Island, but while Kong acts as the island's protector and is worshiped as [[PhysicalGod a god]] by the Iwis, the Alpha Skullcrawler is an aggressive monster that only wants to devour every living thing on the island and is referred to as the "[[SatanicArchetype Skull Devil]]".

* ImmuneToBullets: Much like its smaller brethren, the Alpha Skullcrawler reacts with little more than annoyance when being shot at with a mounted machine gun and some rifles in the final battle.

* KingMook: Seemingly being the only giant Skullcrawler.

* NormalFishInATinyPond: It's really just a bigger, stronger Skullcrawler. On Skull Island, this allows it to be one of the apex predators capable of challenging an adolescent Kong, but it's eclipsed by other kaiju from around the world that exhibit a wider array of abilities, in addition to being bigger and stronger than this thing. What's more, the Skull Devil wouldn't have posed nearly as much of a threat to the fully grown and matured Kong seen in ''Kong vs. Godzilla''. As if to illustrate this point, the film even has another Skullcrawler similar in size to the Skull Devil get utterly obliterated by Mechagodzilla, showing just how small of a fry it was on the grander stage.

* NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast: According to the data book, it's also known as "The Skull Devil". Considering that it's by far the most dangerous creature you can find on Skull Island, it's a rather appropriate nickname.
* NearVillainVictory: During the final battle, the Skull Devil manages to throw Kong into a shipwreck, where he becomes entangled in the chains. With Kong subdued, the Skull Devil is about to finish him off, but Houston Brooks fires at it with a mounted machine gun, attracting its attention long enough for Kong to free himself and resume the fight.

* GiganticAdultsTinyBabies: When Madison, Josh and Bernie find some translucent eggs of Skullcrawlers in ''Film/GodzillaVsKong'', the unborn babies are shown to be little bigger than humans. As adults, Skullcrawlers can grow to quite impressive sizes, with the Skull Devil and Number 10 reaching up to 100 feet if not more.

* BondVillainStupidity: After arriving on Skull Island, the Alpha Skullcrawler attacks the weakened Kong and easily manages to overpower and knock him out. Instead of finishing him off right then and there, since he's the only monster on the island that can pose a threat to it, the Alpha Skullcrawler turn its attention towards the fleeing humans and decides to chase after them. This allows Kong to recover his strength and later come back to fight and kill it. Had it killed Kong when it had the chance, the Alpha Skullcrawler would have been able to rule over Skull Island unchallenged.
