* SoleSurvivor: Implied, as he's a survivor of Zeon's gassing of Side 2's capital Island Ellish (By virtue of having a space suit on at the time), and escaped before its subsequent use as a ColonyDrop.

* SpellMyNameWithAnS: According the Blu-ray release, '''G'''idan Nick'''e'''rd.

* SleevesAreForWimps: She wears the standard Earth Federation uniform. Except it has the sleeves removed.

* TheHorseshoeEffect: From Ginias (at least morally; he's about fifty times saner). This realisation one of the things that motivates Shiro to [[spoiler:jump ship.]]

* ALighterShadeOfBlack: Though much like Ginias, Ryer establishes himself to be the more level-headed, pragmatic, and less cruel of them. [[spoiler:Ryer accepts his death with a lot more dignity and patience while Ginias has a full-blown VillainousBreakdown and tries to kill the one closest to him]].
* NukeEm: Tries to trigger a nuclear explosion atop Ginias' headquarters by causing a mobile suit to detonate.

* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Ryer, Riar, Lyer, Liar?
* TokenEvilTeammate: Unfortunately, he's the one in charge. He manages to make the Federation as a whole look very bad. Given what they became after the One Year War ended, he's actually a pretty textbook example of the typical Federation leadership or at least their largest and most powerful faction, though there were signs of this even in the original MSG, that the upper leadership seemed to be out of touch.

* SpellMyNameWithAnS: The post-episode credits included in the Blu-ray release not only spell his and Aina's surname as Sa'''k'''halin, but give his first name as Gini'''u'''s.

* SayMyName: [[spoiler:His final words are shouting out Ginias' name in a mix of shock and anger, right before an explosion set off by Ginias engulfs him. Immediately preceding this, he calls out the names of two {{Mauve Shirt}}s killed in the first wave of explosions, Lunen and [[SpellMyNameWithAnS Barry/Vari]].]]

* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Kellarny or Kellerne? Both the Blu-rays and Gundam Wiki go with the latter, in opposition to just about everywhere else, and even [[Website/MyAnimeList MAL]] lists both spellings depending on where you look.

* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Von Abst in the Blu-rays' post-episode credits.

* SpellMyNameWithAnS: In a sort of [[VideoGame/FinalFantasyVII Aeris/Aerith]] situation, the Blu-rays give his name as As.

* SpellMyNameWithAnS: In perhaps the strangest example from the Blu-ray release, the credits list Kiki's last name as Logita. While the characters used in the original Japanese (ロジータ) do read "Rojīta," [[JapaneseRanguage there's no telling where that "L" came from]].

* HeroesWantRedheads: Averted. As much as she tried, Shiro never even saw her as a potential love interest, opting for the silver/blue/green Aina over the redheaded Kiki.

* {{Narcissist}}: Ginias is loyal to no one but himself and will manipulate or kill anyone (including his own sister) in order to achieve his goals. Alongside his SanitySlippage, Ginias even massacres the scientists just because he believes they were no use to him anymore.

* ZeroPercentApprovalRating: No one actually likes Ginias as he is a ruthless and narcissistic bastard who cares about no one but himself. Aina had some feeling for him as he is her brother but after he attempted to murder her, she lost any love or connection for him. No one mourned him when he was killed by Shiro and Aina.

* EvilerThanThou: By series end, Ginias stands above all the other major antagonists as the most morally black character. Aina and Norris, his own family, lose faith in him as he endangers their lives and abuses the troops. He pulls support from Kellarny even though his men are in dire need and [[spoiler:backstabs him, killing Kellarny and his soldiers]]. When he's pitted up against Ethan Ryer in the climax, Ginias ultimately edges ahead of him in the sheer pointlessness of his cruelty.

* MechaMooks: Flies the same mass-production mobile suits as the rest of the squad.

* LaserGuidedKarma: She disrespected Shiro and her attitue towards him, karma caught up to her and had her Gundam loss it's head and replace by a GM head. She was nicknamed, "GM Head." Which she doesn't like.

* PetTheDog: When giving back the bowl of food to a child, there were bullets in it that the child identified as Zeon-made. In the dub, it's altered to having the child convinced the bowl is made of shall casings.

* TheStoolPigeon: Apparently found out about Aina because he managed to intercept Shiro contacting her. He told Alice Miller about this, making her suspect Shiro is a Zeon spy.

* AbusiveParents: {{Implied|Trope}} when Sanders (the oldest and most fatherly of the group) punches him in the desert and Michel flinches after seeing his belt buckle.

* PetTheDog: In the sub, he returns a food bowl, while in the dub he's turned a shell casing into a food bowl for a child in the village they're in, the kid taking it as a hat.

* SpellMyNameWithAnS: The Blu-rays spell his name as Del, omitting the second "l".

* MultiethnicName: Russian and Irish of all things.

* OedipusComplex: Aina herself accuses him of having one. He doesn't take well to bringing up their mother.

* BoobsOfSteel: The roughest and most combat orientated female pilot, Karen has a large chest to go with her muscular figure. Though of all the female cast, Karen contributes the least amount of {{fanservice}}.

* EvenEvilHasStandards: Topp might be a Zeon soldier, but she is fair and level-headed. When approaching the village she pushes for a peaceful asking of food rather than any demands. When Arth threatens to rape Kiki, she in turn threatens to shoot him right there and claim it was enemy fire.
