* RedemptionEqualsDeath: At the end of SEED, Flay genuinly attempts to become a better person, helping Natarle on the Dominion and trying to reunite with Kira and the Archangel with the crew of the Dominion but she died before even reaching the ship.

She wasn't a small role in SEED and not being drawn attention to means technically no role in Freedom. IA doesn't apply if intentional unless in-universe.

* BigBadWannabe: Flay certainly tries to be coldbloodedly manipulative and use the conflict to her own ends, but she's not very good at either part. Her manipulations basically amount to seducing a NiceGuy who was already attracted to her, and then inadvertently falling in love with him, and she's far out of her league in ruthlessness or effectiveness when directly up against other antagonists. Rau demonstrates just how bad she is at both, even when she has a gun pointed at his head.

* PosthumousCharacter: [[spoiler: Ultimately, though the movie doesn't draw attention to it, a large part of Kira's problems that last as far as SEED Freedom can be traced to her emotional manipulations, from his insistence that he is the only one that can shoulder the burden of protecting everyone, his angst that nobody thinks he doesn't have it hard, to his still-imperfect relationship with Lacus, who is still in part a bit of an unintentional ReplacementGoldfish for Flay]].

* SmallNameBigEgo: Flay kind of has Kira as an UnwittingPawn wrapped around her finger, but not as much as she thinks she does, ignoring the fact that Kira would have always fought for the rest of his friends whether she seduced him or not. Makes a little more sense when you remember that Flay isn't well, and ignoring (or not knowing) that about Kira, she has a desperate need to feel in control of something in her disintegrating life

Originally an Ensign on the Archangel in SEED, she graduates to Murrue's NumberTwo after the attack on Heliopolis. Harder and more pragmatic than Murrue, Natarle remains loyal to the Earth Forces, and is eventually named captain of the Archangel's EvilCounterpart, the Dominion. A professional soldier, she buries any doubts she has behind her ironclad faith in the military, even when forced to work with Muruta Azrael and his squad.

* Can't Hold Her Liquor: Unlike Mu and Murrue, Natarle does not seem adjusted to consuming liquor as she immediately coughed and gagged at the strong taste.
