* BreakHisHeartToSaveHim: If Shepard plays the Paragon route while trying to win her affection, then Jack tries to scare Shepard away to prevent them both from getting hurt. However, she's grows fonder for him if [[CrowningMomentOfHeartwarming Shepard prevails anyway]].

* BerserkButton: Being referred to as Subject Zero.

* JackOfAllStats: As a Sentinel-style "Cerberus Officer", she's probably the closest Shepard's team has to this, being somewhat capable in combat, a decent biotic, and good at using tech to disable enemies. Her passive skill also provides bonuses to the ''entire squad's'' health and weapon damage, making her a good tactical choice for any player class or squad makeup.

* CripplingOverspecialization: Shredder Ammo, his Loyalty Power, gives him one of the most massive damage boosts in the game even at low levels. It's also considered one of the least useful ammo powers because it ''only'' applies to Health damage, meaning Thane can get over 60% power on unprotected enemies, but his ammo power is useless for penetrating enemy defenses compared to even the "basic" ammo enhancers. This is especially useless since an enemy that's stripped down to their health is considered to be almost dead anyway, making the damage boost irrelevant.

* OptionalPartyMember: A DLC character (although her DLC is included with the PS3 version, and she can thus be considered a canon character for the PS3 version).

* SuperSenses: It doesn't normally come up in gameplay, but Thane's eyes have been altered to detect ultraviolet radiation, to better let him communicate with hanar.

* HandicappedBadass: His incurable Kepral's syndrome basically means that he's slowly drowning/suffocating because of the moisture that has built up in his lungs, meaning he is nowhere near as physically capable as he was. Despite this, he helps destroy the Collector base [[spoiler:and goes toe to toe with Kai Leng preventing him from killing the Salarian councillor. Though he dies from wounds accumulated in the process]].

** Slightly less odd when you consider how Garrus spent the two years after you stopped Sovereign (Becoming a vigilante on Omega who pissed off all three of the mercenary groups) and the pride they take in their work

* BondOneLiner: Gives a wordless one when blasting away Collectors and Swarm after her biotic shield. The look on her face just says, "Who's the {{Badass}}, Collectors?"

* InsufferableGenius: Some hints of this. For example, when joining Citadel in ''3'': "Exciting atmosphere, galaxy's most brilliant minds working together towards common goal. Read their solutions to engineering problems on the way over. Looking forward to correcting them in person."

* InsistentTerminology: Genophage sterility plague. ''Not'' murder.

* BeigeProse: [[SelfDemonstratingArticle Naturally.]]

* GoodIsNotSoft: After CharacterDevelopment the "not nice" part disappears and the "good" part becomes more prominent. She becomes genuinely friendly and caring, expresses regret over [[MindControlDevice what she wanted to do to Shepard]], unlike other characters doesn't ask for help when trying to protect her sister, and upon discovering Cerberus has set up essentially a Nazi death camp makes efforts to warn people away. Then she kills her father, who was responsible for said death camp.

* KnightTemplar: Though she considers herself a KnightErrant. Mixed with a bit of {{Samurai}}.

* TheAtoner: With some FreudianExcuse tossed in. It's not a coincidence she's happy being the teacher of biotic children, considering what Teltin Facility was doing with biotic research.

* BastardGirlfriend: If Shepard tries to romance and show he cares about her she treats him like utter shit and snaps completely if she does drive him away, but ends up in perhaps the most touching romance scene if [[DoggedNiceGuy Shepard]] can [[{{Determinator}} persevere.]]

* WellDoneSonGuy: He does a good job of not showing it though.

** If brought along for Jack's loyalty mission, he expresses disgust at the sight of a prisoner being beaten by a guard.

** Arguably Subverted. The fact that she doesn't kill Shepard on sight (which would make a lot of sense, all things considered) could be considered a massive display of restraint for her. Especially after her FreakOut when she saw the Cerberus insignia.

* WhatTheHellHero: In the third game, she punches Shepard in the face, saying that [[spoiler:Shepard should never have trusted Cerberus]]. If you romanced her, it turns into AngerBornOfWorry, as she punches [[spoiler:you for turning yourself in after the events of Arrival]].

* AdultFear: How did Cerberus get Jack as the primary test subject? It turns out that Jack's mother was approached by an agent posing as her doctor, informing her that Jack was dying of a dangerous illness and they needed to take her baby away for diagnostics. Her mother trusted the agent and handed over her child, never to see her again. With Jack's parents unaware of their child's current status, she was nonexistent to the entire world and Cerberus was free to subject her to [[ColdBloodedTorture inhuman tests]].

* JerkassHasAPoint: Her suspicions about Cerberus eventually betraying her and Shepard are proven correct in the end. By ''3'', the Illusive Man is revealed to have been manipulating Shepard to serve his own purposes the whole time.

* SingleWomanSeeksGoodMan: Although Jack does admire Renegade Shepard, she ends up falling in love with Paragon Shepard because of his kindness and real love for her. [[spoiler: She even gets an N7 tattoo to remember him.]]

* DeathSeeker: Heavily implied during conversations with her in ''2''. Jack admits that she has no plan for the future other than crime sprees. In her own words death to her is like an ''on/off switch''. Of course, she snaps out of this if she lives to ''3''.
