* FinalBoss: Of ''Partners In Time''. While there's one more battle after this one, [[PostFinalBoss it's almost impossible to lose on top of being more of a minigame than an actual battle,]] whereas the Elder Princess Shroob is the last major challenge in the game, thus making her this.

* FinalBoss: Of ''Partners In Time''. While there's one more battle after this one, [[PostFinalBoss it's almost impossible to lose rather short and simple on top of being more of a minigame than an actual battle,]] whereas the Elder Princess Shroob is the last major challenge in the game, thus making her this.

* ClimaxBoss: The final fight against him, which happens after one of the biggest twists in the game.

* FakingTheDead / BackFromTheDead: The ''Superstar Saga'' strategy guides imply that he really did die in his final battle, but this proved exaggerated in the immediate sequels.

* DangerouslyGenreSavvy: Warned Princess Peach about Cackletta's eventual attempted theft of her voice, and helped her set up a decoy.

* DangerouslyGenreSavvy: She was the one who ''started'' the trend of villains outclassing Bowser in terms of evil. To wit, she had run roughshod over the whole Beanbean Kingdom - up to and including taking over the castle and replacing/brainwashing its staff -- before moving on to the Mushroom Kingdom to ensure there would be no interference from Beanbean. When she realizes she is being chased by the Mario Bros. and Bowser after her infiltrating Peach's Castle, she has [[TheDragon Fawful]] destroy their airship and hinder them however possible in case they survived (which they do, of course). The only reason her plans fell apart was because [[OutGambitted Peach had set up a decoy after being warned BEFORE the attack on the Beanbean Kingdom, but even after that, she doesn't stop, taking advantage of using Bowser as a host body and bringing the ''entire Koopa army'' to the Beanbean Kingdom for an all-out assault.]] This girl was ''good''.

* DangerouslyGenreSavvy: Most of ''Bowser's Inside Story'' is basically him demonstrating that he can stay one step ahead of Bowser, Mario, and Luigi and remain in control from start to finish. Cackletta has taught him well.

* WeakButSkilled: In terms of physical prowess, Fawful is sorely lacking. Even carrying someone as dainty as Princess Peach is a huge burden for him, but he's a very skilled GadgeteerGenius and a DangerouslyGenreSavvy [[TheChessmaster chessmaster]] with a gift for improvisation.

* FinalBoss: [[SubvertedTrope Subverted.]] Antasma is the second-to-last boss in the game (and one of the toughest, especially in the Battle Ring), though he counts as this for the Dream World since he's the last boss fought there. The real final boss is [[OneWingedAngel Dreamy Bowser,]] which is fought in the real world.
