trope is about colorism IU

* ButNotTooBlack: Is heavily against the rest of the group’s “gangsta” image and unfamiliar with even the most influential hip hop artists, including Music/TheNotoriousBIG [[{{Irony}} Despite signing to Bad Boy Records]].

When he goes in for an interview with a local radio station whose host [[LampshadeHanging wonders why/how Chopper snuck away from the group]], he responds with “As long as Bad Boy don’t find out”.. [[WhatAnIdiot despite being on camera]].

to:

* ManChild: This ''would'' count.. if Chopper weren’t actually 15-16 {{Manchild}}: Somewhat justified; he was about 17-19 during the show’s show's run.

* YoungerThanTheyLook: You might think that Chopper is at least a young adult by the time of the show’s filming, but as it turns out, Chopper lied about his age to avoid legal trouble while the group was still together. He was actually about 15 in Season 1 and 16-17 in Season 2-3.

* TheLoad: He's usually the one missing important events and slacking off when there's work to be done. Many conversations are had concerning whether or not he should just be dropped from the group entirely.

* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: He's often on the receiving end of this, as everyone has the opportunity to call out his lazy, manipulative behavior.

[[folder:Jason]]
!!Jason Wiley

Da Band's tour manager during Season 3. He is the former Vice President of Marketing at Bad Boy.
----
* NiceGuy: He clearly cares about the group and is nothing but polite to all of them.
* OnlySaneMan: He's more often than not the calm voice of reason keeping Da Band in check.
* PrecisionFStrike: Subverted. He's no stranger to swearing, though not as much as the band members. However, one moment in the show sells the illusion.
-->''(when Fred is yelling at Sara)'' '''FRED!''' ''Fred!''...'''FRED! [[BigShutUp SHUT THE]] [[AtomicFBomb FUCK UP]], MY NIGGA!'''

* TheFriendNobodyLikes: ''Nobody.'' Well, aside from Sara, but she’s married to him, so it makes sense. [[spoiler: Cruelly subverted after the series’ conclusion, as the couple has gotten into many domestic altercations, leading to several arrests between both of them, and this is heavily implied to be caused by Tony.]]

* {{Irony}}: Sara seems genuinely upset by Dylan’s high risk of going to jail in Season 3. [[spoiler: Sara is the only member of the group to serve jail time since Making the Band 2’s conclusion, for domestic violence involving Tony.]]

* GoshDarnItToHeck: She'll often use mild substitutes for swear words. This is justified by her being a mother and not wanting to leave a bad example for her children.

!Season 1 Contestants
[[folder:Mysterious]]
!!Kimberly "Mysterious" Bert

A rapper from Detroit. She was eliminated in the final decision.
----
* BerserkerRage: An iconic moment of the show is when she loses the finals and [[{{Understatement}} doesn't take it very well]]. She breaks a wine glass ''with her bare hands'', starts cussing Diddy out, then storms outside, trashing public property in grief.
* TheBusCameBack: She returns for the eponymous episode "Mysterious Is Back" in Season 2.
* TheFriendNobodyLikes: When she's brought back in for a potential feature on Da Band's debut album, nobody is a fan of the idea. Subverted in Season 1 where it seemed that most people liked her, especially [[NiceGuy Sara]] who had the added benefit of also hailing from Detroit.
* TraumaCongaLine: It was ''not'' smooth sailing for her throughout the season. She'd regularly have nervous breakdowns, her sister goes missing, she later finds out that she's been dead this whole time and had her body stuffed into trash bags, she missed her funeral to stay in the competition, and she doesn't make the cut anyway.
* YankTheDogsChain: Despite everything listed under her TraumaCongaLine, she's a finalist in the competition. Then, she doesn't make the cut. Ouch.

* BadBoss: Depending on who you ask. It’s generally agreed that he’s more of a WellIntentionedExtremist.

Added DiffLines:

* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Diddy genuinely wants to see his group(s) successful and all of his excruciating initiation processes are simply in an attempt to harden them enough to survive in such a harsh industry. It’s pretty telling that he appealed to a judge to get Dylan out of jail when he was well on his way to it because he saw the latter’s potential.
* PetTheDog: He appeals to a judge to keep Dylan from going to prison because he saw his potential and even had him selected as a final member of the group.
* ToughLove: His initiation processes are usually very exhausting and even humiliating (i.e. the infamous [[NeverLiveItDown cheesecake walk]]) and he never tries to coddle anyone but he’s doing it to toughen up his artists for an industry that shows no mercy.

** Babs gets annoyed with Sara for wanting to take time off of touring to visit her family, of whom she has a mother who’s undergoing surgery. * GenreSavvy: Had the foresight to (attempt to) read the fine print on the advance contracts, but couldn’t act on it as the rest of the band forced her to sign it (if even one member refuses to sign it, ''no one'' gets their money).
