This came to a clash in the Kaijo vs Too match, in which his Perfect Copy starts blossoming and he manages to copy Aomine's formless style. [[spoiler:Aomine still bests him anyway.]] He was considered the weakest member of the GOM until he achieved the Perfect Copy.

* OlderThanTheyLook: Due to his (comparatively) short height, big eyes, and childish features, he is very often mistaken for a kid. This would be even more UpToEleven [[VagueAge if he was born before Kise and the oldest of the Generation of Miracles]] but looks the youngest of them all. And even without taking that into account, he is still the youngest-looking of the entire first-year characters.

* VagueAge: A variation. While it's obvious that he's a first-year at the start of the story, it's unclear whether or not he's the oldest or the youngest member of the Generation of Miracles. He was born on January 31st, and because a school year in Japan doesn't start until April, it'd still be possible for him to be in the same year with the other 5 members despite being born a year later. However, it's also possible that for whatever reason, he was born before Kise (June 18th) but studied in the same year with the other 5 regardless. So, if he was born after Akashi (December 20th), he would be the youngest member, but if he was born before Kise, he would be the oldest member. However, the mangaka doesn't specify the year so it's difficult to determine.

** Kise, the first member introduced, is incredibly cocky but is quick to establish himself as a FriendlyRival with Kuroko and Kagami. Outside of their first practice match.

* PurpleIsPowerful: He has long purple hair, and is the most naturally talented at basketball in terms of ability to pick up skills and stature. His side, physical strength and resulting speed all eclipse the other members of the Generation of Miracles.

* HatesBeingTouched: A very mild version: he doesn't like being patted on the head by anyone, as he's shown to be clearly irritated whenever this happens, to the point of slapping their hand off in Murasakibara's case. He doesn't mind though if his teammates do it to him after they won a match.

* MasterOfAll: Initially, the outstanding abilities of the GoM were the only thing he ''couldn't'' copy, making him little more than a very strong all-rounder, but this limitation was surpassed by the Perfect Copy, which made him able to imitate ''all'' the GoM's special talents simultaneously. The downside is that playing at this level drains his stamina. [[spoiler:In ''Last Game'' he even combines the Perfect Copy with the Zone, which temporarily made him the strongest player on the entire court, at the cost of completely nuking his stamina.]]

* BerserkButton: He's apathetic most of time but insult or injure his teammates or friends... and you'd better watch out.

* EleventhHourSuperpower: [[spoiler:He got Quasi-Emperor Eye, which can only predict his teammate's movement, but in terms of how far into the future, he can see further than Emperor Eye from Akashi and Kise.]]

* EleventhHourSuperPower: [[spoiler: Awakens The Zone in Chapter 5 of Extra Game close to the end of the third quarter, uses it in tandem with Perfect Copy, and closes the gap between Vorpal Swords and Jabberwock to almost single digits by ''himself.'' And Midorima notes that although it will vastly amplify the drain on his stamina, combining the Perfect Copy with the Zone unambiguously makes Kise '''the strongest player on the court''' (at a time where such super-talented people like Aomine [who's already in the Zone], Akashi, Murasakibara, Kagami, Nash Gold Jr., and Jason Silver are playing).]]

It is also worth noting that when Akashi enters the zone, he emits an aura that surrounds him while making perfect passes, which is probably the ''Zone distribution'' to his teammates.]]

* SuperpowerLottery: His Emperor Eye is generally regarded to be the most game-breaking ability of the GOM. [[spoiler:And if that wasn't enough, Midorima deduces that Akashi's original personality also has its own awakened ability, making Akashi the only member of the GOM to have ''two'' abilities.]]

* SeriousBusiness: Akashi is ''really'' intense. In order to make his team play better, he offers to ''[[gouge out his own eyes]]'' if they lose.

* CovertPervert: Not an outright lech, but in the [[AllThereInTheManual Character Bible]], he lists his type of woman as 'big-breasted', and his hobby is 'looking at gravure idols'.
