Early on, he has Domeric go on a bride hunt at the Twins and leaves him with the possibility of a Frey wife for little reason other than to make him squirm. Then it turns out that Lord Bolton already had his mind made up that he was going to choose Fat Walda, making Domeric's angsting about having a Frey wife completely pointless.

* VillainRespect: Roose appears to have some respect for his son Domeric and the feeling is mutual; Roose respects Domeric’s martial skill and recall for history and politics while Domeric believes his father is one of the smartest men in the North.

** Domeric also looks up to his deceased relation Ser Mark, the man handpicked to be Lord Ryswell’s successor, skilled in arms and able to settle disputes. Domeric hoped to be picked as one of Robb Stark’s bodyguards to do what Ser Mark couldn’t by rescuing a Stark.
