* GenderBlenderName: "Yuri" is usually a feminine name in Japan (though it is sometimes used for males), but a common masculine one in Eastern Europe. AllThereInTheManuel states he hails from the Slavic region which is now modern-day Russia.

** Both Rintaro and Matoko Fukami/Kamen Rider Specter (from Takuro Fukuda's [[Series/KamenRiderGhost previous Rider show]]) are blue-colored secondary Riders of their respective shows. While Makoto intially an AntiHero whose goals are at odds with Takeru, Rintaro was polite and friendly with Touma since their first encounter.

* ContrastingSequelProtagonist: Both [[Series/KamenRiderZeroOne Isamu Fuwa]] and Rintaro are {{Experienced Protagonist}}s who are associated with the color blue and are also the main secondary Rider of their series. However, Fuwa got his Rider form at the beginning of his series while Rintaro became a Rider before his series even started. Personality-wise, Fuwa has a HairTriggerTemper and comes off as rash and reckless (though he gradually mellowed after getting his CharacterDevelopment), while Rintaro is far more level-headed, careful, and laid-back. He also instantly got along with Touma at first before their friendship become strained temporarily due to his loyalty in the Sword of Logos before he defects from the organization after realizing the corruption from his superiors, while Fuwa took some time to warm up to Aruto before he finally rebelled from A.I.M.S due to the same circumstances. This even extends to their AnimalMotifs, as Fuwa as Vulcan is themed around the wolf (a canine), while Rintaro as Blades is themed around the lion (a feline).

The third swordsman who fought alongside Yuri and Bahato became corrupted by the pursuit of strength and deviated from his original mission of protecting the world in order to gain greater power. Because of this, Bahato drew on the power of Mumeiken Kyomu to kill the third swordsman before attempting to destroy the world. * TraumaCongaLine: Poor Kento has it rough throughout the entire series. First he learns that his father was killed by Daichi, and that he also betrayed the Sword of Logos, and then gets trapped inside ''Kurayami'', where he is assaulted with images of the BadFuture that implied the Seiken caused it, causing him to go on a crusade to seal all the Seiken and Issac to prevent it from happening until his not-actually-dead father talks him out of it. ''Trio of Deep Sin'' doesn't make his situation any better: [[spoiler:His fiancée, Yuina Tachibana is hell-bent on assassinating him due to her first fiancée dying in the conflicts of the Sword of Logos, resulting in her becoming the next Falchion, and even when Kento manages to defeat her, ''Kyomu'' punctures her due to her failure to fulfil her deal.]]

She initially appeals her usefulness for the Sword of Logos through her info-gathering skills from her social media, and after she has been accepted as an ally Sophia grants her a book that alerts her for any ongoing Megid incidents, which she keeps at her side at all times since.
* NonActionGuy: She isn't a Rider nor a swordsman and thus doesn't partake in the action.
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness:
** In Chapter 12, right after telling the others of Rintaro's condition, Mei then berates Kento for his impulsiveness that got the former injured before Ogami stops her.
** Throughout the second arc, Mei gradually becomes a bit more serious and quiet as the events become more intense. Ogami even pointed out at one point of how awfully silent Mei was with the discussion.
* PluckyComicRelief: Her exaggerated reactions to things are a source of much of the comedy in the series.
* PluckyGirl: Is surprisingly eager to dive headfirst and help with any activities or issues the Sword of Logos have going on, regardless of the dangers.

* DorkKnight: He tops Rintaro in this aspect, and due to his lack of social skills he frequently engage in silly antics similar to a toddler and has Mei to babysit him at times.
* FaceOfAThug: Downplayed, of a sort. Yuri looks fairly intimidating at first glance, but once one gets to know him - it's pretty easy to see that he's actually a major CloudCuckoolander.
* FishOutOfTemporalWater: Even more so than ''[[SociallyAwkwardHero Rintaro]]'' when interacting with the human world. Justified, as it's said that he has been stuck in Avalon for ''a thousand years''.

After witnessing said naivety in action with Touma and its quirks, he takes a severe interest in the comic. It later on even becomes a basis for one of his forms.
* LackOfEmpathy: It's not deliberately malicious on his side; he is just ''that'' oblivious. The beginning of Chapter 17 shows that he is genuinely happy to see Touma and just doesn't seem to notice or understand why the other Rider is freaking out despite standing in the middle of the bookstore he himself broke in and absolutely trashed.
* MysteriousStranger: Both to the audience and to Touma. He played this role for the first 15 Chapters, being an otherwise unseen observer to Touma's actions [[spoiler:alongside Tassel]]. We only get to see his appearance properly in Chapter 15, and he introduces himself to Touma in Chapter 16.
* NoNameGiven: He was merely known as the "Hooded Man" until a press release of Chapter 16 revealed his name to be Yuri.
* NoSocialSkills: This guy manages to somehow top both Rintaro and ''Tetsuo'' in this respect. He has absolutely zero idea on how the human world works and is either extremely vague or extremely blunt when speaking. And there is no in-between. As such, Touma and Mei have a ''very'' hard time understanding what he's trying to say until ''after'' the fact.
* OhCrap: Whenever Tetsuo decides to examine or have physical contact towards him, Yuri reacts with fear.
* OlderThanHeLooks: Yuri has the appearance of a man in his mid-to-late 20s, but being in Avalon for 1000 years obviously changes that.
* PoorCommunicationKills: A side effect of his FishOutOfTemporalWater nature is that he's either speaking vaguely or ''very'' bluntly, meaning a lot of what he tries to say goes sailing over people's heads. [[spoiler:For example, the fact that his attacks as ''Saikou'' can separate a Megid from its human host. His vague, honestly menacing sounding, wording made it seem like he thought the only solution was a ''MercyKill''.]]
* SealedGoodInACan: A self-inflicted kind. Not only did he fuse himself with the Robust Blade of Light ''Saikou'' to prevent it from falling into the wrong hands, he further locked himself away in Avalon for extra protection. It was until meeting Touma there a millenium later that he finally decided to step out of Avalon in order to tag along and continue observing the young man, whom he sees as TheChosenOne.
* SecretTestOfCharacter: In a way, him giving Touma the '''King of Arthur''' Wonder Ride Book was this. He actively encouraged Touma to give up trying to obtain the power and subjected Touma to a test to see if he could handle its power. When Touma succeds in using the Wonder Ride Book, and although still skeptical, Yuri put his trust in the young man. Rather interestingly, this also extends to his Wonder Ride Book, which in its basis, ''[[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Honest_Woodcutter The Honest Woodcutter]]'', a tale of a honest person losing a plain but treasured item, and despite being offered a golden, and then a silver version he merely asks for the return of the original, which greatly impresses the being that they're interacting with.
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: He delivers one to [[spoiler:Tetsuo in Chapter 18. It has surprising results in Chapter 19, as Yuri's words has Tetsuo decide to get the truth behind Touma's "defection" by duelling him]].
* UnseenNoMore: Although Touma met him in Avalon, his face and existence was otherwise unknown to the audience and the Sword of Logos. In Chapter 16, he reveals himself--both to the Sword of Logos and to the viewers properly.
* WasOnceAMan: [[spoiler:Chapter 18 reveals that Yuri was once a normal swordsman and was merely the wielder of the ''Kougouken Saikou'', but at some point, he fused his essence with the sword in order to prevent it from falling into the wrong hands.]]
* WeUsedToBeFriends: As he reveals in Chapter 34, [[spoiler:he and Bahato, along with a third unnamed swordsman, were all close friends up until Bahato killed their friend in revenge for the latter murdering his family and went rogue, forcing Yuri to seal Bahato away]].
