Ryomen Sukuna is the undisputed King of Curses, and an antagonist in the series. Defeated and sealed away over a thousand years ago, he incarnates into Yuji when Yuji eats one of his cursed fingers containing a fragment of his power. \\\

The full details of his Cursed Technique are still unknown, but it seems to involve cutting and slashing things to pieces.

* AnOfferYouCantRefuse: Subverted. Either way, he would technically benefit. Yuji, [[IdiotHero being Yuji]], accepts, believing he can defeat Sukuna. It doesn't work out very well for him.

* AncientEvil: Sukuna was born thousands of years ago, and no one, not even Gojo, has been able to destroy his remains.
* AtopAMountainOfCorpses: His Innate Domain, and by extension his Domain Expansion, is a twisted Buddhist-like shrine decorated with ''a lot of'' corpses. He's often found sitting on a throne atop them.
* AxCrazy: He loves death and bloodshed. His first thought when incarnated into Yuji is to go on a homicidal killing spree while making unhinged laughter and expressions.
* BadassBaritone: He boasts an impressive power set even when trapped in Yuji and Creator/JunichiSuwabe gives him a suitably deep voice to match. Creator/RayChase takes it a step further and goes full GutturalGrowler for Sukuna.
* BareFistedMonk: He enjoys using his fists when he plays around with his enemies.
* BloodKnight: Seems to get riled up at the thought of a good fight and people who could provide it to him. In particular, his interest in Megumi seems to be based on an awareness of Megumi's potential.
* CleanCut: His techniques seem to revolve around this -- he can dissect a target into multiple, clean chunks, or simply lop off a body part like nothing. How he does it isn't entirely clear, as no one seems to be able to react until after it happens.
* DeadpanSnarker: In addition to breaking people and Curses physically, he takes delight in snarking at their expense.
* DeconstructedCharacterArchetype: Of the SealedEvilInACan and SuperpoweredEvilSide. He's the strongest Curse in history who ends up in Yuji's body after being consumed by him, leading to the latter letting him take control in case he's in a fight that he can't win normally, which so far has been an instant win condition. However unlike most examples in anime media that end in a more amicable or tolerant relationship for both parties, Sukuna shows exactly what [[TheSociopath a sociopathic]], [[CardCarryingVillain unrepentant, ancient evil]], [[SmugSuper who's able to back up his ego with the power to match]], controlling your body would actually be like. Especially if you're a NaiveNewcomer like Yuji, who had no idea how the Jujutsu system works, in order to control him completely prior to becoming his host. Something that Sukuna, who has [[Really700YearsOld centuries of Jujutsu knowledge and lore]] takes full advantage of in order to exploit Yuji at every opportunity, with the latter having increasingly less control as Sukuna slowly regains his powers over the course of the series. Sukuna forces Yuji into a contract on his terms while making the latter forget it completely, shows gleeful LackOfEmpathy to Yuji's lowest suffering and whenever he controls the body, he will make things go FromBadToWorse by killing/harming innocents and Yuji's friends.
* DidNotSeeThatComing: He clearly never anticipated that a host who devoured one of his fingers would be so difficult to influence.
-->'''Sukuna''': Human, [[ThisCannotBe how do you manage to move?]]\\
'''Yuji''': Bro, [[AskAStupidQuestion it's my body.]]
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: Introduces himself by casually annihilating a curse that Yuji and Megumi nearly died fighting against, and then he starts laughing maniacally while gleefully proclaiming that the first thing he's going to do is to slaughter countless women and children for fun.
* EvilChef: Some of his cutting attacks use Japanese verbs specific to cooking (for example, scaling a fish), meaning he could have a broadly cooking-themed power suite.
* EvilVsEvil: He'd much prefer killing the heroes if he could, but he also opposes their enemies arguably as much for varying reasons. Mainly that they pissed him off somehow.
* EvilIsNotAToy: Attempting to use him for accomplishing a goal consistently proves to be a terrible idea that costs both sides greatly. When Yuji tries to convince him to fight a Special Grade Curse he can't beat by invoking CantLiveWithoutYou, Sukuna replies that there are still eighteen of his fingers left and him dying would be no big loss. He also adds that if they do switch he'll kill his friends before the Curse can. And when it happens, he tries to lead the Curse back to Yuji's friends before it attacked him instead.
** Yuji's condition goes beyond Sukuna simply being a WildCard. [[spoiler: Whether Yuji gets back immediate control over his body after switches depends on the ''both'' of them agreeing to switch. If Yuji switches without Sukuna's consent, he'll be unable to switch back for a time. This results in Sukuna ripping Yuji's heart out to take him hostage, attacking Megumi, and Yuji temporarily dying of blood loss when he finally takes back control.]]
* EvilRedhead: Thanks to him appearing with the pink-haired Yuji's body.
* EvilIsPetty: He grimaced after accidentally regenerating a severed hand to block a Curses' attack, being so appalled by the fact that he's stuck in Yuji's body that he's willing to leave him without a body part.
* GeniusBruiser: Sukuna is unfathomably powerful, and worse yet has a great understanding of Curse energy and techniques to show he's not simply an unhinged beast.
* GodzillaThreshold: He's very much this in terms of the story as Yuji only calls on him for help when things have gotten ''bad''. Unfortunately, how he acts while he's possessing Yuji often ends up [[FromBadToWorse making things even worse than they already are]].
* GreaterScopeVillain: While incredibly important to the story, his screentime is surprisingly small all things considered due to being trapped in Itadori's body. Still, his existence is key to the villains' plans.
* IGaveMyWord: While he'll do his best to subvert the spirit of a contract or geas, he knows better than to break them outright due to the severe penalties for doing so and the substantial benefits he can receive from adhering to them.
* IdenticalStranger: He looks eerily like Yuji, save for his hair and black markings around his body. It's implied that he took on this appearance after possessing Yuji.
* HatesBeingTouched: He warns Mahito to never attempt to touch his soul again when the latter tries to bring him out. [[spoiler: Sukuna ends up inadvertently ''helping'' Yuji and Nanami when the boy breaks into Mahito's [[AlwaysAccurateAttack Domain Expansion]] to save the latter, where Mahito ''unintentionally'' touches his soul.]] [[spoiler: When Jogo reawakens him in Shibuya, via grabbing Yuji by the chin and force feeding him Sukuna's fingers, he's still holding Yuji by the chin. While he's distracted, Sukuna cuts off Jogo's hand and immediately tells him to move.]]
* HealingFactor: As standard for Special Grade Curses he has the ability to heal himself and regenerate limbs that get destroyed, even while trapped in Yuji's body. This could theoretically be pretty useful for Yuji... except Sukuna can pick and choose whether to heal their body and he would rather ''not'' [[{{Jerkass}} just to screw over Yuji]]; in fact, the first time he regenerates Yuji's lost hands on a reflex, he [[NiceJobFixingItVillain immediately laments that he didn't mean to]]. So, Yuji ultimately still has to be careful not to lose any limbs while fighting due to Sukuna's ass-holery.
* HumanoidAbomination: In his original body, Sukuna had four arms and [[InformedAttribute supposedly]] two heads in his original body. Even in his IdenticalStranger appearance to Yuji, he has [[EyesDoNotBelongThere a set of eyes on the sides of his head]].
* {{Jerkass}}: Unpleasant, cruel, and condescending. He doesn't pass up a chance to harass Yuji or laugh in his face when something goes wrong, [[spoiler:such as the immediate aftermath of Junpei's CruelAndUnusualDeath.]] [[JerkWithAHeartOfJerk And any moment that he appears humane]] [[BaitTheDog and capable of humanity]] is immediately subverted as he quickly reveals his nasty intentions and makes the situation go FromBadToWorse.
* KickTheDog: He does things like planning to work with a Special-Grade Cursed Spirit to kill Yuji's friends, but [[spoiler: his shared laughter with Mahito after Junpei's death]] is a standout example of this.
** He later tops that [[spoiler: by relinquishing control of Yuji's body, just so he could witness the destruction he caused in Shibuya.]]
* LackOfEmpathy: He has little concern for others and at times laughs at their suffering [[spoiler:with Junpei's death being a prominent example.]]
* LightIsNotGood: Within his Innate Domain, in other words his mind, he's depicted wearing a white kimono. He is, of course, ''very far'' from good.
* LightningBruiser: Sukuna is strong enough to dominate Special Grade Curses with his bare hands, and is fast enough to move into different areas without anyone noticing him at first.
* MaskOfSanity: His first introduction gave the [[EvilLaugh impression]] [[NightmareFace that]] he was an unhinged, bloodthirsty lunatic who lives to kills everything around him for fun. While he's still liable to try and do ''that'' whenever he gets the chance, from then on he typically carries a relatively calmer attitude.
* MultiArmedAndDangerous: According to Gojo, he had four arms in his original body.
* MultipleHeadCase: Also according to Gojo, he had two heads in his original body, but the former believes [[InformedAttribute this to be an exaggeration of myth]].
* {{Narcissist}}: As the manga's narration puts it, "only his pleasure and displeasure exist". Sukuna firmly believes everyone should obey and fear him without question -- he treats everyone around him like they're his subjects who exist to entertain him. He [[spoiler: lops off the top of Jogo's head]] because he ''only kneeled with one knee.''
* NonchalantDodge: He's so skilled and experienced that this is usually how he "fights" anyone who isn't at least as strong as Gojo. The fact that Yuji can land a few punches to his face regardless is quite impressive given that a Disaster Curse as strong as [[spoiler:Jogo]] couldn't even score a single hit.
* ObviouslyEvil: Oh ''yes he is''. Red eyes, black tattoos all over his body, black fingernails and prone to psychotic smiles, if there's a person who looks and defines evil -- it's this guy.
* PersonOfMassDestruction: Sukuna demonstrates his power during his fight with [[spoiler:the Mahoraga, completely leveling a large portion of downtown Shibuya using ''Malevolent Shrine's'' true ability.]] He then proceeds to destroy the area even further with a massive blast of cursed energy to finish off his opponent.
* PetTheDog: In one of his few moments of genuine respect, [[spoiler: he tells Jogo was a WorthyOpponent before killing him.]]
* PowerCopying: [[spoiler:Demonstrates this in the Shibuya arc, easily imitating Jogo's mastery over fire and defeating him with it.]]
* PsychoticSmirk: In contrast to his usual SlasherSmile or laughter, he gives a simple smirk before [[spoiler: giving Yuji his body back. Just so he could witness the remains of Shibuya.]]
* RaceAgainstTheClock: While Yuji consuming more fingers boosts Sukuna's own powers and influence, it also brings him closer to Yuji letting himself die after he's eaten all 20, which will permanently kill them both.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: Among other changes, Yuji's eyes turn blood red whenever Sukuna takes over.
* {{Sadist}}: Lives to cause carnage and harm others. The very first thing he tries to do when incarnated into Yuji is start a massacre.
** He willingly refuses to enter a pact with Yuji, who was literally offering him anything he could ask for, just so he could laugh in his face about [[spoiler:his inability to save Junpei from his CruelAndUnusualDeath.]]
** After he [[spoiler:murders thousands of innocents in Shibuya]], he immediately gives control of his body back to Yuji specifically because he knew it would break him emotionally.
* SealedEvilInASixPack: His cursed energy is split across 20 of his severed fingers.
* SlasherSmile: He's very fond of making deranged grins while planning or in the middle of doing something horrible.
* TheSociopath: Completely and totally lacks empathy for humans and curses alike, doing anything and everything he wants in the name of his own desires. In the face of tragedy, he often can only laugh. The only person he seems to give an inch of a crap about is Fushiguro, and that's more because he sees him as a potential WorthyOpponent.
* ThemeNaming: It's subtle but present. All of his abilities that have been named thus far have some kind of relationship to cooking. Sukuna's Innate Domain is called "Fukuma Mizushi," and is often translated as "Malevolent Shrine." However, the specific way it is written, "Fukuma" is literally translated as "A place where Demons hide" and "Mizushi" is an archaic term used to refer to a kitchen. Furthermore, his two main cutting attacks ("Kai" and "Hachi") use the specific Kanji that refer to the act of "cutting" and "filleting" fish, respectively.
* SuperpoweredEvilSide: The first time Yuji faces a curse he can't defeat, he lets out Sukuna, who [[SubvertedTrope immediately decides to team up with the curse and kill Yuji's friends.]] Then played straight once the curse insists on attacking Sukuna anyway and he makes short work of it.
* SupernaturalFearInducer: When [[spoiler:he awakens in Shibuya]], everyone nearby is immediately overcome with dread and appears to take a kneeling stance without even thinking.
* TooManyMouths: Often manifests as a mouth on Yuji's hand to either taunt him or eat a finger.
* TranquilFury: In contrast to his psychotic smiles and laughs, he's rather stoic when angry, preferring to let his actions say more. Prime example, [[spoiler:when Yuji enters Mahito's Domain, Sukuna's soul is touched once again, thus leading to him slashing Mahito when he warned him that there wouldn't be a second time.]]
* TurnedAgainstTheirMasters: Curses made from his fingers are bestial berserkers who have no loyalty to anyone, least of all the man whose hands they came from.
* VillainousRescue:
** [[spoiler:Yuji enters Mahito's domain, causing Mahito to touch his soul again. Sukuna, who had already warned Mahito earlier in that fight, angrily retaliates, unwittingly saving Nanami.]]
** [[spoiler:Upon sensing that Fushiguro trapped himself in a death pact with Mahoraga to defeat Haruta, he intervenes and kills the curse, killing thousands of civilians in Shibuya as well in the process, just to prevent Fushiguro from dying.]]
* VillainRespect: Sukuna commends [[spoiler:Jogo's last stand,]] stating that it was the best fight he's had for the last thousand years.
* WildCard: He can't even be counted on to commit wanton destruction or attempt to permanently steal Yuji's body if he's pursuing an agenda that doesn't need him to do that.
* WorldsStrongestMan: The ''King'' of Curses. Even without his full power, he's able to humiliate Special Grades without much effort.
* WorthyOpponent: Sees Fushiguro as this after their fight, which is to the point that he's the only person who he won't kill until he's gotten stronger.
* WouldHurtAChild: His first words upon being reincarnated are on how much fun he'd have slaughtering women and children.
* WouldHitAGirl: As stated above, he makes his introduction wanting to search for women and children to massacre. [[spoiler: He brutally slaughters Nanako & Mimiko for trying to have him do their bidding.]]
* VocalDissonance: Sukuna speaks with Junichi Suwabe's deep baritone voice in the anime, which sounds jarring coming out of young-looking Yuji.
* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: He has pink hair over a black/dark brown undercut, just like Yuji.

[[folder:Rika Orimoto]]
!!Rika Orimoto
A childhood friend of Yuta Okkotsu who was tragically killed at a young age in a traffic collision. She appears as a supporting character in the Volume 0 prequel.\\\

After death, she was accidentally cursed by Yuta and became a Special-Grade Vengeful Spirit that haunts him as a GuardianEntity. She possesses immense amounts of cursed energy, enough to attract the attention of Suguru Geto, who wishes to capture her and add to his collection of powerful cursed spirits.
----
* ChildhoodMarriagePromise: Her and Yuta were very close as children and promised to get married when they grew up, even exchanging engagement rings. This connection is what bonds Rika's spirit to Yuta after death, and why she is so violently protective of him.
* ClingyJealousGirl: She picks up on the BelligerentSexualTension between Yuta and Maki, and briefly refuses to help the injured Maki before Yuta gets her to behave.
* CreepyGood: Everything about Rika as a cursed spirit is horrifying, but she is still a kind young girl beneath all the NightmareFuel and fights for the sake of the heroic Yuta.
* DisappearsIntoLight: After the curse on her spirit is lifted, she briefly appears to Yuta in her original form long enough for some parting words before fading into the light.
* DisproportionateRetribution: Tends to dish out brutal punishment for anyone who would try to harm Yuta. This makes Yuta wary of interacting with others out of fear of accidentally setting her off and getting people hurt.
* TheDreaded: To weaker cursed spirits; they avoid attacking Yuta and Maki on a mission due to their fear of Rika.
* EyelessFace: Her cursed spirit form has a distinct eyeless appearance, though a large eye appears on her face once she is at full power.
* FamilyUnfriendlyDeath: The manga doesn't shy away from the gory nature of her death, with the top of her head being completely crushed by a vehicle. This gruesome injury is reflected by the appearance of her cursed spirit form's head.
* GiantHandsOfDoom: She commonly manifests as a large pair of arms that appear to defend Yuta. More of her body manifests depending on the severity of the situation.
* GuardianEntity: She is with Yuta at all times and appears to protect him when he is in great danger.
* PsychopathicWomanchild: Due to becoming a cursed spirit at age 11, she still carries a very immature outlook and has childish outbursts that need to be reined in by Yuta. Her being an EldritchAbomination with massive amounts of cursed energy only makes this horrifying.
* PosthumousCharacter: She has been dead for 6 years by the time of Volume 0.
* ThePowerOfLove: Yuta professing his love for Rika, complete with a [[TheBigDamnKiss Big Damn Kiss]], causes her power to skyrocket, allowing her and Yuta to [[CurbStompBattle curb-stomp]] Geto and his legion of curses.
* ScaryTeeth: Her cursed spirit form has a mouth filled with very long and sharp teeth.
* ViolentlyProtectiveGirlfriend: She still views herself as Yuta's fiancée and reacts violently to threats against him.
* WorldsStrongestWoman: Among cursed spirits, she is regarded by Suguru Geto as an unparalleled existence due to her seemingly unlimited supply of cursed energy, referring to her as the "Queen of Curses". He believes capturing her will singlehandedly secure his victory over his enemies at Jujutsu High, including ''Gojo'', giving an idea of how powerful she truly is. The revelation that the source of her great power is Yuta's own cursed energy, someone that Gojo himself believes will one day surpass him, further reinforces this.

!The Zen'in Clan (Major Spoilers)

[[folder:In General]]
!!The Zen'in Clan

One of the Big Three sorcerer families, alongside the Kamo and Gojo clans, and the largest we've seen so far. The twins Maki and Mai are from the clan, though they are shunned for being considered a bad omen, along with Maki being Heavenly Restricted and unable to use cursed energy. \\\

After an unseen falling-out with the rest of the clan, Toji Zen'in left and became a freelance mercenary, though not before making an undisclosed deal with the clan Head. He later had a son Megumi, and married a woman with a daughter Tsumiki. Toji then took his wife's surname '''Fushiguro'''. Megumi is still considered a Zen'in by others in-story, much to his reluctance. \\\

The clan was initially headed in the present by Naobito Zen'in, however, his death during the Shibuya Incident causes a SuccessionCrisis. Naoya Zen'in, presumed to be next in line to become the Head and inherit Naobito's assets, discovered the deal with Toji in Naobito's will: In the event of Satoru Gojo's death or incapacitation (which happened exactly in Shibuya: sealed by the Prison Realm), Megumi is to become Head of the clan. This angers Naoya and he sets off to kill Megumi himself.[[labelnote:*]]Maki also had plans to become the clan Head, though she is currently incapacitated and her say in the matter is unknown[[/labelnote]]
----
* BigScrewedUpFamily: Hoo boy. When their description is composed entirely of their screw-ups, you know it's ''that'' bad. More details can be found in each character's folder, and they do ''not'' help.
* HeirClubForMen: Only males of the family are allowed to become clan head, as shown when Naobito's daughter is quickly dismissed as a possible succesor.
* SuperpowerfulGenetics: There are currently two known cursed techniques that are inherited within the family's bloodline, those being the Ten Shadows Technique and Projection Sorcery. [[spoiler:The Ten Shadows Technique is valued far more than Projection Sorcery, as Megumi is considered the proper heir to the clan due to possessing the technique.]]

[[folder:Naobito Zen'in]]
!!Naobito Zen'in
!!!'''Voiced by:''' Creator/JojiNakata (Japanese)
!!!'''Cursed Technique:''' [[SuperSpeed Projection Sorcery]]

[[quoteright:235:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/naobito_zenin.png]]

A Special Grade 1 sorcerer, the 26th Head of House Zen'in. A careless old man who looks down on others and would rather drink than fight. \\\

His Cursed Technique, Projection Sorcery, allows him to break down one second into 24 "frames" that he can trace as a predetermined set of motion, affecting himself and anything within his field of view. Enemies touched by his palm while the technique is active will have to abide by their predetermined movements or else they will be frozen until the second is over.
----
* TheAlcoholic: Shown to love drinking, to the point that he initially neglects the curses they're supposed to be fighting in order to do so.
* AnArmAndALeg: [[spoiler: Dagon rips off his right arm.]]
* CoolOldGuy: He may come off as a lazy drunk, but Naobito is quick, strong, and rightfully confident in himself. He even [[spoiler: loses an arm]] and only seems mildly annoyed by it.
* {{Counterspell}}: He can use the ''Falling Blossom Emotion'', a secret art passed down within the Zen'in clan that can counter the usage of Domain Expansion. It works similarly to the Simple Domain and Domain Amplification techniques by surrounding his body in cursed energy, though it differs by having his cursed energy shoot out to defensively protect himself from the otherwise unblockable attacks used within a Domain. It requires a massive amount of concentration and can still be overwhelmed by a continuous assault, however.
* FlashStep: Traveling within the 24 frames of his technique while it is active moves him at speeds that give the impression of teleportation.
* GrumpyOldMan: He can be spirited sometimes, but he has shades of this, namely when talking to Dagon about animation.
-->'''Naobito''': These days, it's all about resolution and wanting to increase framerate. 4K this and 60 FPS that. ''Don't you find it so unrefined?!''
* {{Jerkass}}: He treats his niece Maki poorly and is responsible for preventing her from rising in the ranks as a jujutsu sorcerer. Even on the severely important mission to [[spoiler: rescue Gojo]], he lazes around while his teammates do the fighting, and says that he wouldn't mind letting things be.
* KilledOffscreen: [[spoiler:Stated to have died in the Shibuya Incident after he was last seen fighting Jogo.]]
* LimitedAnimation: Naobito's technique invokes this on himself. He can trace a set of movements for his body to carry out over the course of 24 frames of animation per second. The end result is that he can move startlingly fast, and the lack of "in-betweens" gives the impression that he's teleporting.
* LogicalWeakness: The set of motion he plans out for his technique cannot excessively defy the laws of physics or deviate once he starts moving, doing so will cause Naobito himself to be frozen and trapped for one second.
* OhCrap: Has this reaction to Toji Fushiguro's sudden entrance into Dagon's Domain, being the only sorcerer present who is aware of the incredible danger that he brings.
* PhantomZonePicture: Enemies affected by his technique are trapped for one second within a two-dimensional "frame" resembling a thin pane of glass that he can shatter for a free attack.
* SuccessionCrisis: [[spoiler:Naobito is KilledOffForReal following the Shibuya arc, after he succumbs to the burn injuries he suffered from Jogo.]] This creates a situation where his relatives must declare the new head of the Zen'in clan, which predictably causes dissent among the arrogant members of the family.
* SuperSpeed: Has this, seemingly as a side effect of his technique. Because he can "plan" his body's movements through 24 "frames" of animation, he can essentially teleport anywhere within his field of view over the course of a second. He is noted to be the fastest Jujutsu sorcerer discounting Gojo.

[[folder:Naoya Zen'in]]
!!Naoya Zen'in
!!!'''Cursed Technique:''' [[SuperSpeed Projection Sorcery]]

A Special Grade 1 sorcerer, son of Naobito Zen'in and next in line to become the 27th Head of House Zen'in. \\\

His Cursed Technique, Projection Sorcery, is the same as his father's, allowing him to plan a set of motion within his field of view for himself and his enemies that lasts one second, which generally manifests as bursts of SuperSpeed. Enemies touched while it is active will be frozen if they do not abide by the movements he planned.
----
* CombatPragmatist: He conceals a large knife to use in close quarters for a surprise attack, admonishing his family members for their criticisms of Toji using similar weaponry and tactics depite their reliance on swords.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: Despite all of his horrendous qualities, Naoya is the only member of the Zen'in clan to show any sympathy towards Toji Fushiguro. He bluntly states that Toji would have been better off alive instead of Jinichi, and is revealed to despise his family for the blatant hypocrisy regarding their treatment of Toji. [[spoiler:His feelings towards Toji don't seem to extend to his son, however.]]
* FlashStep: He appears to teleport when moving due to the effects of his technique.
* HateSink: This man is utterly despicable, cementing himself as an arrogant {{Slimeball}} and sexist {{Jerkass}} within his first few lines of dialogue.
* ItsAllAboutMe: Upon learning of [[spoiler:his father's death]], his first reaction is to grin at the prospect of becoming the next clan head rather than [[spoiler:mourn the loss for even a moment.]]
* LimitedAnimation: His inherited technique works the same as his father's, with it's mechanics giving him SuperSpeed that appears like choppy animation that lacks "in-between" frames.
* MakeItLookLikeAnAccident: After learning that [[spoiler:Megumi]] is to become the next clan head instead of himself, Naoya devises a scheme to kill them while both are searching for Yuji, using the chaotic situation in Tokyo as a cover up to hide his actions.
* ManipulativeBastard: He uses his quick wits to immediately get on Yuta's good side by bringing up his relation to Maki, sickeningly referring to her as "Maki-chan" to create the illusion of being close despite his [[HeManWomanHater true feelings]] towards her.
* MurderIsTheBestSolution: Clearly believes so, as his first thought upon being informed that [[spoiler:Megumi]] would be made clan head is to murder them and take the position for himself.
* PhantomZonePicture: Enemies he touches will be frozen for one second in a two-dimensional "frame" if they do not abide by his technique's rules, leaving them open for an attack. Naoya uses this in combination with his SuperSpeed to overwhelm Choso when they fight.
* PoliticallyIncorrectVillain: Naoya embodies the archaic viewpoints that are posited by some of the more traditional clans, specifically the chauvinistic and demeaning attitudes towards women that were prevalent within Maki and Mai's backstory early on in the series. He believes that a woman's only value in life is to support her husband and nothing more, and coldly judges the worth of the women in his clan based on their appearance and obedience.
* PragmaticVillainy: He easily discovers Yuji's location thanks to the speed of his cursed technique, but decides not to kill him despite his execution order being renewed, due to needing him for his plot to kill [[spoiler:Megumi]].
* SmugSuper: He has a very high opinion of himself due to his great strength and handsome looks, and feels the need to remind others of his superiority. He can back up his arrogance, as seen when he is able to handle both Yuji and Choso in hand-to-hand combat simultaneously.
* StrongFamilyResemblance: His facial structure is almost identical to that of his cousin Toji Fushiguro. He alludes to this when insulting Jinichi for his brutish appearance, implying that Toji had the right look for a clan leader while pointing at his own face.
* SuperSpeed: He can move at incredible speeds as an effect of his cursed technique, which he inherited from his father. Naobito was renowned as the fastest sorcerer besides Gojo, giving an idea of how fast Naoya can potentially move.
* TranquilFury: Learning that [[spoiler:Megumi]] is being made the clan head instead of him drives Naoya into a quiet and murderous rage.
* TheUsurper: He fully intends to take [[spoiler:Megumi's]] rightful place as head of the Zen'in clan.

* CoveredInScars: He has several small scars on his face.
* IaijutsuPractitioner: He is seen drawing his katana with impressive speed when he threatens his nephew Naoya after he provokes Jinichi into a fight.

!!!The Fushiguro Branch

[[folder:Toji Fushiguro]]
!!Toji Fushiguro née Zen'in

[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/toji_fushiguro_vol_8.png]]

The absent father of Megumi Fushiguro, and an assassin for hire. He has a similar Heavenly Restriction to Maki (who is also a close family member), granting him superhuman physical abilities in exchange for the ability to use cursed energy. However, Toji's restriction is far more extreme, setting his cursed energy to absolute zero, while the physical boost he gets is staggeringly massive, to the point he can compete with the strongest sorcerers in the entire setting.
----

* AlasPoorVillain: [[spoiler: A remarkably melancholy one, given he'd previously killed Riko and nearly killed Gojo and Geto. Even Gojo is left half-broken from it, and takes to looking out for Megumi as a result.]]
* AntiMagic: Toji wields a unique Curse Tool known as the Inverted Spear of Heaven, which negates the cursed techniques of anything around it. This allows it to penetrate any defensive jujutsu, meaning he can easily fight sorcerers in close combat as long as he's able to get within their range.
* AlwaysSomeoneBetter: As [[spoiler: Megumi puts it when he first unknowingly encounters him, he's essentially [[MagicallyIneptFighter Maki]] fully realized. Like Maki, he's a Zen'in who can't use cursed energy that compensates with vast physical prowess. He proves to be ''far'' stronger than her when the two actually meet, taking her curse tool out of her hands with zero effort and using it to kill Dagon, a Special-Grade curse that she and three Grade 1 sorcerers were struggling against.]]
* ArcVillain: The main antagonist of [[WholeEpisodeFlashback "Hidden Inventory"]].
* CameBackWrong: [[spoiler: Ogami's technique to give her grandson the powers of Toji ends up pulling his soul along with his body, allowing Toji to resurface in his entirety. * DeadAllAlong: [[spoiler: When he's first mentioned, Megumi notes that he believes him to be alive. Turns out he's actually been dead for over a decade, Gojo just ended up never telling him when he showed a lack of interest in his fate.]]

* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: Despite being a merciless assassin for hire, Toji is shown in his [[spoiler:final moments to love his son Megumi despite having stated previously that he forgot his name, telling Gojo that the House of Zen'in plans to take him away and not wanting him to be a pawn of the same family that ruined him. When he's resurrected in the body of Ogami's grandson, he snaps out of his mindless state when in Megumi's presence and kills himself to save his son.]]
* {{Familiar}}: On missions, he is accompanied by a worm-like cursed spirit that he uses to [[HyperspaceArsenal store his multitude of weapons]]. It is seen being used for the same purpose by Suguru Geto during Volume 0, implying that Geto had captured the curse for himself after [[spoiler: encountering it following Toji's death]].
* {{Foil}}: To Gojo. Both are laid-back individuals who absolutely excel in what they do (Gojo with his sorcery, Toji with his physical ability) and sit on opposite ends of the physical strength-spiritual strength scale. Towards the end of their encounter, they both display a heightened sense of pride in their own strength, and fight purely to affirm these feelings, disregarding anything else.
* TheGreatestStoryNeverTold: Toji actually [[spoiler: kills himself in his fight with Megumi.]] Megumi at that point could not understand the significance of that act or why Toji does it in the first place. [[spoiler: It's because he's happy his son isn't a Zen'in, thus, wouldn't be a tool to be used and disposed as necessary.]]
* ICantSenseTheirPresence: Toji's strategy in dealing with jujutsu sorcerers hinges on this. Due to emitting no cursed energy, sorcerers have to rely purely on their human senses in order to notice when he approaches them. This makes him effectively invisible in most circumstances.
* KilledOffForReal: Despite Megumi's initial claim that he was still alive, the story later reveals [[spoiler:Toji was killed by none other than Satoru Gojo.]]
* LastRequest: [[spoiler:Before he dies, his final act is to tell Gojo about how the Zen'in family is planning to take Megumi away, not wanting his son to become a tool of the family that ruined him.]]
* LightningBruiser: Toji's Heavenly Restriction means he was born with absolutely zero cursed energy, making him incapable of projecting it from his body in any form. In exchange, his body is remarkably durable, agile, and strong, and his five senses have been enhanced to the point where he can see and feel curses anyway.
* LikeFatherUnlikeSon: Megumi is a cold yet good-natured individual who wants to help those who're good as a jujutsu sorcerer, and was born with the Zen'in family's coveted Ten Shadows Technique. Toji, on the other hand, is a merciless assassin-for-hire and was born with a Heavenly Restriction, being the only human without any cursed energy at all in exchange for superhuman physicality.
* MageKiller: He's known as the Sorcerer Killer for a reason, using his superhuman physicality and cursed tools to fight even the best jujutsu sorcerers, especially with his Inverted Spear of Heaven which can even stop cursed techniques upon contact.
* MagicallyIneptFighter: Has no cursed energy whatsoever, not like that stops him from being skilled in combat enough to go toe-to-toe with first rate jujutsu sorcerers.
* TheMaidenNameDebate: Inverted; Toji took his first wife's name after marrying her and kept it even after she passed away and he remarried to Tsumiki's mother, doing so out of spite for the Zen'in family.
* MultiMeleeMaster: Being a highly trained assassin, he's seen wielding swords, daggers, and a handgun that he all stores inside a cursed spirit.
* MusclesAreMeaningful: Has a very muscular figure and is a highly trained fighter with superhuman abilities thanks to his Heavenly Restriction.
* OnlyInItForTheMoney: Does dirty jobs entirely because he's being paid very well for them. When faced with [[spoiler:Satoru Gojo, however, he gives in to his pride and pays hard for it.]]
* OutsideContextProblem: Takes this role [[spoiler: in the Shibuya arc. While the sorcerers' focus is on defeating the curses and rescuing Gojo, Toji currently exists purely to hunt down and fight who he perceives to be the strongest opponent -- no matter what side they are on. Everyone is understandably confused when he shows up in the fight against Dagon, only to take Dagon on himself.]]
* PosthumousCharacter: [[spoiler:Has been dead for 11 years, having been killed in battle by Gojo.]]
* ShootTheMageFirst: When trying to assassinate Riko, of the group guarding her he chooses to [[spoiler:stab Gojo from behind first to try to take him out, knowing that having the Six Eyes he's by far the strongest sorcerer in the group. Gojo is fine by having his vital organs avoided from being hit and reinforcing his body with cursed energy to avoid further damage.]]
* SuperSpeed: To the point he can [[spoiler: trade blows with '''Gojo''']] and clown on Maki, someone who is also superhumanly fast and capable of catching bullets.
* SuperStrength: Massively superhuman, far more so than even most who have a similar condition of strength.
* UniquenessValue: He's the only person ''ever'' in history to have no cursed energy. He has absolutely none, nothing, nada. Maki, who has a similar Heavenly Restriction, simply gets locked out of using her available cursed energy, while Toji fundamentally has none to begin with. Yuki even calls upon him as a unique case study, [[spoiler: and laments his death as she can no longer use him as a research subject for her plan to rid the world of curses]]

[[folder:Tsumiki Fushiguro]]
!!Tsumiki Fushiguro
!!!'''Voiced by:''' Creator/SaoriHayami (Japanese), Suzie Yeung (English)

The older step-sister of Megumi Fushiguro and step-daughter of Toji Fushiguro.
----
* AmbiguousSituation: The exact nature of the curse she has is unknown, and there is no indication that she will ever recover from her coma. [[spoiler:It is eventually revealed that she fell unconscious after being marked by Suguru Geto's cursed energy, and she has either been turned into a cursed vessel or cursed technique user upon waking up.]]
* CameBackWrong: Non-fatal example; [[spoiler:She finally wakes from her coma in Chapter 136, but she is marked by Geto's cursed energy and therefore is now either a vessel for a cursed spirit like Yuji, or a curse user who had her latent technique awakened.]]
* DeepSleep: She is currently in a deep coma due to being cursed by unknown means. [[spoiler:She finally awakens in Chapter 136.]]
* MarkOfTheSupernatural: The mark that appeared on her forehead upon falling into a coma is revealed to be [[spoiler:a mark created by Suguru Geto's cursed energy. When he activates his technique, she wakes up as either a cursed vessel or cursed technique user thanks to his elaborate scheme.]]
* PromotionToParent: She had to take on a parental role in Megumi's life after [[ParentalAbandonment being abandoned]] by Toji and then her mother.
* ScareDare: In the past, she was dared to check out a haunted location called Yasohachi Bridge with some classmates. This happened before she fell into a coma and is unrelated to her curse, but it becomes relevant once Megumi and the others start investigating the bridge and its occurrences.
* TooGoodForThisSinfulEarth: She was a very kind girl, and Megumi believes that her terrible fate is proof of the world's unfairness.

[[folder:Mei Mei]]
!!Mei Mei
!!!'''Voiced by:''' Creator/KotonoMitsuishi (Japanese)
!!!'''Cursed Technique:''' [[TheBeastmaster Black Bird Manipulation]]

[[quoteright:215:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mei_mei.png]]

A Grade 1 sorcerer and an intelligent, confident opportunist of a woman with a great love for money. \\\

Her Cursed Technique, "Black Bird Manipulation", allows her to [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin manipulate crows]], and see through them.
----
* AnimalEyeSpy: Mei Mei's main use of her technique is to see through the eyes of any bird under her control, making them very useful for scouting and surveillance.
* AnimalMotifs: Crows. Mei Mei can control crows using her Black Bird Manipulation, and is an intelligent, opportunistic woman only interested in doing something if it financially benefits her.
* AnAxeToGrind: Mei Mei wields a large axe with great finesse to fight against cursed spirits.
* TheBeastmaster: Her technique, Black Bird Manipulation, lets her control crows in their entirety. She primarily uses them for scouting.
* BlindingBangs: A comically exaggerated example; Mei Mei's bangs are so long that she ties them into a large braid that often covers her entire face. This actually has a practical use, as many high-level sorcerers obscure their eyes to stealthily observe curses.
* BoobsOfSteel: Mei Mei is very well-endowed and curvaceous, but also is a strong, physically orientated fighter that is durable enough to survive getting repeatedly crushed by a massive gravestone with minimal injury.
* BraidsOfAction: Mei Mei has two braids, one hanging in front of her face and the other on the back, and she's a Grade 1 Sorcerer with the power her position entails.
* BrotherSisterTeam: Mei Mei brings her younger brother Ui Ui with her to fight cursed spirits during the Shibuya Incident, relying on Ui Ui's Simple Domain to exorcise the special-grade Smallpox Deity.
* CharacterTics: She is often seen playing with the braid that covers her face.
* CreepyCrows: Her cursed technique "Black Bird Manipulation" lets her control crows and [[SeeingThroughAnothersEyes see through them]]. She can even make a crow hurl itself at an enemy, committing suicide with the trade-off of erasing the crow's cursed energy limit to make it more powerful.
* EarlyBirdCameo: She first appears during Volume 0 as an unnamed background sorceror present at Jujutsu High, but isn't properly introduced until Chapter 40 of the main series.
* GracefulLadiesLikePurple: Mei Mei is a very feminine and graceful woman who wears a dark purple dress.
* HeartIsAnAwesomePower: Mei Mei's technique is this, thanks to a sub-technique she calls ''Bird Strike''. She has absolute control over crows, which sounds simple but then you remember she can cause crows to impose contracts on themselves just like any other sorcerer. By using the crow's life in a binding vow, she can remove the cap on its cursed energy, turning an ordinary bird into a ridiculously powerful projectile that she can control.
* IncestSubtext: ''Heavily'' implied to be in some kind of incestuous relationship with her little brother Ui Ui, since she SleepsInTheNude in the same bed as him (although he is fully clothed).
* KickingAssInAllHerFinery: Destroys cursed spirits with a stone axe, all while wearing a form-fitting purple dress.
* LadyOfWar: Mei Mei is an elegant woman who wears a purple dress and manages to fight gracefully while wielding a large stone axe.
* LongHairIsFeminine: She has pale blue hair that falls past her shoulders and has a feminine, graceful air about her.
* MagicKnight: Mei Mei originally believed her cursed technique to be weak and left her vulnerable, so she trained her body with cursed energy to its absolute limit in order to compensate for it. Afterwards, she went back to master the full potential of her technique and learned powerful offensive abilities, allowing her to bloom into the powerful and versatile Grade-1 sorcerer that she is in the present.
* MeaningfulName: Mei Mei's name contains the kanji for dark, alluding to her Black Bird Manipulation.
* MoneyFetish: Mei Mei is an opportunist when it comes to money, flat-out stating that she doesn't understand connections not based around money and blushing at the thought of Satoru Gojo having to pay her back. Humorously, she sees the value of life itself as lying in one's service potential, something meant to be applied to ''assets in a business'', not people.
* MsFanservice: Mei Mei is a [[HeadTurningBeauty beautiful]], [[BuxomIsBetter busty woman]] in a [[FormFittingWardrobe tight-fitting dress]] who appears nude (with GodivaHair, mind you) on the [[https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/jujutsu-kaisen/images/4/4e/Volume_12.png cover of Volume 12]] and also SleepsInTheNude.
* OneHitKill: Her ''Bird Strike'' technique is this, due to the limitless amount of cursed energy within the crow projectile after it is put in a binding vow. She claims that the only opponent to ever survive the attack is [[WorldsStrongestMan Satoru Gojo]].
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: [[spoiler:Leaves Japan for Kuala Lumpur using Ui Ui's cursed technique after being nearly killed by Geto, exchanging all of her yen in preparation against the economic fallout in Japan due to the Shibuya Incident.]]
* SeeingThroughAnothersEyes: She's able to see through the eyes of the crows she has under her control.
* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: She has long light blue hair.

[[folder:Ui Ui]]
!!Ui Ui

Mei Mei's little brother.
----
* BigSisterWorship: Ui Ui ''adores'' his older sister Mei Mei and acts as her lapdog, even willing to die for her as seen when they fight the Smallpox Deity. This takes a darker tone when it's implied that their relationship is incestuous, with the Mei Mei naked while the two are in bed together, teasing each other with Ui Ui blushing.
* BlindObedience: Is unwaveringly dedicated and obedient to his sister, who he sees as greater than the world itself.
* BrotherSisterTeam: Mei Mei brings her younger brother Ui Ui with her to fight cursed spirits during the Shibuya Incident, relying on Ui Ui's Simple Domain to exorcise the special-grade Smallpox Deity.
* {{Counterspell}}: He can activate a Simple Domain, which he uses to counter an opponent's Domain Expansion.
* IncestSubtext: ''Heavily'' implied to be in some kind of incestuous relationship with his older sister Mei Mei.

[[folder:Yuki Tsukumo]]
!!Yuki Tsukumo
!!!'''Voiced by:''' Creator/NorikoHidaka

A mysterious Special Grade sorcerer with ties to Todo and Geto.
----
* BigDamnHeroes: [[spoiler:During the Shibuya Incident, she suddenly appears to confront Geto, casually blocking Uraume's ice attack while doing so and saving the lives of everyone present.]]
* BikerBabe: She is an attractive blonde seen traveling on a motorcycle in her first few appearances.
* CatchPhrase: "What kind of girls are you into?" Todo later [[BorrowedCatchphrase adopts this]] as his personal mantra.
* BoobsAndButtPose: Strikes this pose when introducing herself to Geto and Haibara.
* {{Counterspell}}: Knows how to use a Simple Domain, and taught Todo how as well.
* {{Familiar}}: When first introduced, she is accompanied by a fish-like cursed spirit resembling a floating spine, though its purpose is currently unknown. [[spoiler:It is seen with her again when she appears during the Shibuya Incident arc.]]
* GreyAndGrayMorality: Yuki's dream is to create a world without cursed spirits, either by making humanity lose all cursed energy or by having every single human learn how to control the energy. However, she gives Geto's MisanthropeSupreme plan to exterminate all non-sorcerers serious consideration and admits that it would solve the world's problem with cursed spirits much easier than either of her plans, but wouldn't go through with it because she's not insane. That doesn't stop her from encouraging him to attempt it. [[spoiler: Following the Shibuya Incident, she even states herself that she is not necessarily on the heroes' side despite her benevolent goal.]]
* HeroOfAnotherStory: She's an independent figure with a mission of her own, and her interactions with the main story are brief but very meaningful.
* LazyBum: Despite being one of only four special-grade sorcerers, she has a reputation for wasting time overseas and not going on missions, though this is only due to her chasing an unconventional goal.
* TheMentor: Implied to be one for Todo, as she was the one who taught him how to create a Simple Domain.
* TechnicolorEyes: Her eyes are a striking shade of red.
* UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom: She was the one who gave Geto the encouragement to chase his goals, even if it involved wiping out all non-sorcerers.

[[quoteright:165:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/junpei_yoshino.png]]

A meek and thoughtful young man who strikes up an odd friendship with Mahito, and later Yuji.
----
* CommonalityConnection: He quickly bonds with Yuji over their shared love for movies, especially American films. Junpei was in the film club, and Yuji had just marathoned countless classic films in his jujutsu training.
* CruelAndUnusualDeath: [[spoiler:He gets turned by Mahito into an monster, with his soul giving out and dying immediately after.]]
* DespairEventHorizon: Junpei goes on a vengeful rampage after his mother is [[spoiler:killed by a cursed spirit attracted to one of Sukuna's fingers, which was intentionally left in his home by Mahito]]. Yuji manages to comfort Junpei by not judging him and telling him to come to Jujutsu High. Sadly, [[spoiler:Mahito aggressively transfigures him, leading to his death.]]
* DistinctionWithoutADifference: When we're introduced to him, he states that if he was offered a button that would kill everyone he hates, he wouldn't press it. He follow this up however by claiming that if he was offered a button that would kill everyone who hates him, i.e. the guys currently kicking the crap out of him for no other reason than that he's an easy target, he would press it.
* ExplainExplainOhCrap: When Mahito arrives at the school, Yuji is about to attack him. Junpei immediately jumps to his defense before recalling the humans Mahito transfigured.
-->'''Yuji''': Junpei! Run!! I don't know how you know this guy, but just run away! Please!
-->'''Junpei''': Don't worry, Itadori! Mahito isn't a bad per- '''[[OhCrap a bad... ...person.]]'''
* EvenBadMenLoveTheirMamas: He's anti-social and possesses some deep seated anger over his lot in life, something Mahito encourages, but he genuinely loves his mother. [[spoiler: It's her death that finally puts him over the edge.]]
* HeelFaceDoorSlam: [[spoiler:Yuji manages to get through to him briefly after their fight. And then Mahito arrives.]]
* HellbentForLeather: Played for drama. [[spoiler:After his mothers' death, he takes a black jacket from her closet before going off to punish who he thinks was responsible for her death.]]
* HorribleJudgeOfCharacter: He views Mahito as a helpful aid in developing his misanthropy, [[spoiler:however, the latter saw him as nothing but a plaything the entire time and ends up killing him for amusement. This is right on top of killing his mother and goading the boy into this mindset in the first place for giggles.]]
* KilledOffForReal: [[spoiler:Is morphed into an inhuman creature by Mahito, only for his soul to give out and die shortly afterwards.]]
* MaddenIntoMisanthropy: Thanks to constantly being abused by his peers, Junpei appears to be inching down this route until he is pushed into full-blown misanthropy with Mahito's help and the [[spoiler:death of his mother.]]
* MisanthropeSupreme: Starts out with a very poor view of people due to bullying, and is pulled away from this briefly by Yuji, but fully goes down this route after [[spoiler:Mahito has his mother killed]], now fully willing to kill others as he sees fit.
* MoralityChain: His mother, the only shining person in his life keeping Junpei from slipping into full on misanthropy. [[spoiler:After her murder, nothing can stop Junpei's hatred from unleashing.]]
* PeekABangs: Has these to signify his withdrawn, closeted personality. [[spoiler:They also hide the burnt-cigarette marks from his bullying.]]
* PoisonousPerson: His shikigami's tendrils emit poison created by cursed energy.
* ThePowerOfLegacy: [[spoiler: It's {{Implied}} that his death, which was covered up as him being forced to move away, prompted his school to come down hard on bullying, with questionnaires asking students about their respective experiences with it being handed out and one of the teachers, who was rather ignorant of Junpei's circumstances, confronting one of his former bullies and saying that he'll be keeping a close eye on him.]]
* SacrificialLamb: [[spoiler:Murdered by Mahito, establishing Mahito and Yuji's rivalry. Aside from that, he has little impact on the overall plot.]]
* SummonMagic: Mahito awakens Junpei's latent affinity for cursed energy, allowing him to call upon a jellyfish-like shikigami summon known as "Moon Dregs".
* TookALevelInBadass: Mahito awakens his latent affinity for cursed energy, gaining abilities such as [[MindOverMatter telekinesis]] and [[SummonMagic summoning a shikigami called "Moon Dregs"]].
* UnskilledButStrong: In the short time that he has his abilities, he was able to fend off Yuji with "Moon Dregs". However, he understandably didn't know any other techniques beside just throwing its tendrils, and sadly never got to learn further [[spoiler:due to his death by Mahito shortly after.]]
* WalkingSpoiler: [[spoiler:As a SacrificialLamb, his death is an integral part of his character, and it's pretty hard to discuss him without whiting-out a good portion of his entry.]]
* WhosLaughingNow: He was consistently bullied throughout his high school years. His encounters with Mahito allows his potential for cursed energy to come out, using his newly-acquired abilities to torture his classmates.
* WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds: It's hard not to see why he's bordering on becoming a MisanthropeSupreme considering that he's constantly bullied, assaulted and disrespected by those around him, with the only good people he knows being his [[GoodParents mother]], [[BitchInSheepsClothing Mahito]] ([[HorribleJudgeOfCharacter or so he thinks]]), and [[NiceGuy Itadori]]. [[spoiler: His mother apparently getting brutally killed by what's apparently the actions of said bullies is just icing on the cake, and what drives him to villainy in the end.]]

[[folder:Riko Amanai]]
!!Riko Amanai

A teenage girl who became a Star Plasma Vessel, the next human to merge with Tengen. Second-years from Tokyo Jujutsu High were assigned to escort her in the past, driving the plot or the Hidden Inventory arc.
----
* AllForNothing: [[spoiler:All of Gojo and Geto's efforts to escort and protect her are rendered meaningless after Toji Fushiguro [[BoomHeadshot suddenly shoots her in the head]].]]
* BodySurf: As a Star Plasma Vessel, her purpose is to merge with Tengen as his new physical body to maintain his immortality technique. She handles this responsibility quite well, having been groomed since a young age for her role.
* BrokenTears: After [[spoiler:Geto]] gives her the choice of either merging with Tengen or escaping, Riko finally breaks down crying at the unfairness of everything that has happened to her. [[spoiler:Geto]] giving her the first real choice of her life helps her understand just what a cruel situation she is in, [[spoiler:and she appeared ready to accept his offer of escape before her SurprisinglySuddenDeath.]]
* CynicismCatalyst: The events surrounding her merger with Tengen [[spoiler:really did a number on Geto's psyche, with her tragic death and its aftermath driving him towards his extreme MisanthropeSupreme views.]]
* DamselInDistress: Due to her role as the Star Plasma Vessel, certain groups try having her assassinated for various reasons. She first meets Gojo and [[spoiler:Geto]] when they save her from the organization Q's attempt on her life.
* {{Foil}}: To Yuji, as an ordinary teenager forced to become a supernatural "vessel" by extenuating circumstance. However, unlike Yuji, [[spoiler:she lacks actual agency, even when she decides to buck against this role.]]
* HeIsNotMyBoyfriend: Gojo was mistaken for Riko's boyfriend after he burst into her all-girls school looking for her, forcing her to create a lie about him being her cousin.
* IJustWantToBeNormal: Riko wished to spend her last days before the merger as a normal girl, something Gojo went out of his way to ensure. [[spoiler:This played a big role in her decision to accept Geto's offer rather than merge with Tengen.]]
* MsFanservice: Zigzagged. Given the general lack of female fanservice in the series, Riko stands out in a few scenes. She is an attractive young woman that is introduced [[BathtubScene nude in a bathtub]], and is also the only notable female character that is shown in a bathing suit.
* TheNeedsOfTheMany: She was apprehensive at first to merge with Tengen, but later came to accept it as her duty. Once they reach their destination, [[spoiler:Geto]] calls her out for accepting her fate so easily and gives her the choice to either merge with Tengen or escape to live her own life.
* ParentalSubstitute: Her parents died when she was young, causing her to view her caretaker Misato as her mother. She is the one person Riko wanted to see most before her merger.
* ThePollyanna: Despite the unfair circumstances that surround Riko's situation, she always attempts to maintain a positive attitude.
* SlidingScaleOfFreeWillVsFate: Riko accepts her role as the next Star Plasma Vessel, believing it to be [[BecauseDestinySaysSo her destined fate]]. [[spoiler:Geto]], however, challenges this notion and wants Riko to choose her own fate for herself.
* WalkingSpoiler: Not Riko per se, but her arc heavily involves [[spoiler:Suguru Geto and reveals the nature of his relationship with Gojo. It's difficult to discuss some parts of her character without mentioning that Geto used to be a good guy.]]
