* DoubleStandardAbuseFemaleOnMale: She frequently uses Inuyasha's cursed necklace to force him to the ground when he's being a jerk or she's dealing with her romantic angst, especially in the anime. Often exaggerated when she purposefully gives the command while on a bridge to make him crash through it, or uses it repeatedly to plow him into the ground. Other characters are not only perfectly fine with this, but usually opine that Inuyasha deserved it for annoying her.
* DudeMagnet: Multiple humans and demons alike have tried to win her affection.

* NiceGirl: Except when she has to "sit" Inuyasha because he keeps insulting her, or because he keeps hitting Shippo, or has otherwise done something extremely rude that sets her off, along with a few other flaws as well. Other than that, Kagome's very warm and friendly, especially towards Inuyasha.

* WasTooHardOnHim: She does feel this way at times when she realizes that she got too worked up and overreacted towards Inuyasha. An example is in episode 151 where she was upset after having saved Kikyo and not receiving gratitude than being accused of wanting Kikyo gone so she wouldn't have a rival for Inuyasha's affections anymore.

* YouWouldntLikeMeWhenImAngry: * YouWouldntLikeMeWhenImAngry: Seriously, be careful not to anger her or else her super-powered arrows might take you down or knock you straight to the ground. So, make sure to stay on her good side.

* NonDubbedGrunts: Much like [[Anime/{{Pokemon}} Pikachu]], her animal noises are undubbed.

* OlderThanTheyLook: By the time of ''Yashahime'', which takes place several years after the orginal series, all of them look almost, if not exactly, the same as they did in the original series. While Inuyasha and Shippo have the excuse of being part or fully demon, and [[spoiler: Kagome, along with Inuyasha, was trapped under supernatural circumstances for 14 years]], the others don't. Sango in particular looks really well for someone who is pushing 40 by the time of ''Yashahime'' and who has already given birth three times.

* DeadpanSnarker: When poking fun at Inuyasha's romantic issues.

* DoubleStandardAbuseFemaleOnMale: The women of the group often tend to physically attack the men for annoying them or crossing a line, and everyone just rolls with it.

* LaserGuidedAmnesia: No matter how many times her grandfather told her the Shikon Jewel history, she just wouldn't remember it. [[spoiler: It seemed that the Shikon Jewel wouldn't let her remember.]]

* YouWouldntLikeMeWhenImAngry: Seriously, you won't. Whatever you do, do not get on her bad side, or you may find yourself slammed to the ground or on the receiving end of her super-powered arrows.

* BewareTheNiceOnes: While she's a nice person, especially to Inuyasha, you do not want to get on her nerves. Thanks to her teenage mood swings and being with an equally emotional Inuyasha, there are times when she's just as explosively angry and unpleasant in ways that certain guys in her life, like Sota and Inuyasha, attempt to steer clear of her until she cools off to avoid her wrath. Even Naraku was all "WTF?!" when he pissed her off so damn much that she uses one of her arrows that was powered-up by her rage ''and almost blew him up''. Sometimes she regrets this, such as when she was angry after the incident with Kikyo and took it out on Inuyasha or when he was just trying to help her get better.

* HairTriggerTemper: While Kagome is a genuinely kind-hearted girl, she possesses a relatively short temper when someone or something is provoking her somehow.

* HotBlooded: She may be a NiceGirl, but she has a pretty short temper.

* SailorFuku: Her default costume for adventuring is her school outfit, which is sailor style. [[spoiler: Though at the ''very'' end, she's seen wearing a blazer uniform instead.]]

* SchoolUniformsAreTheNewBlack: Kagome takes a liking to wearing her uniform into the feudal era because it's easily cleaned (although it has a downside- a lecherous man once thought her skirt was a super-short kimono). She wears casual clothes on occasion.

Kirara is a [[BakenekoAndNekoMata nekomata--a two-tailed youkai cat]]--who is also Sango's companion. She can change from a tiny feline to a huge fanged one for Sango to ride on, and has the ability to fly in her larger form.

Shippo is a young fox youkai who joins Kagome and Inuyasha following the death of his father. Since he is still a child, he is not very strong in battle, but can change his shape and has a repertoire of trickery that occasionally comes in handy. His youth and immaturity bring him into frequent conflict with Inuyasha; it is not clear exactly how old he really is, given that youkai age more slowly than humans.

* ParrotPetPosition: Often rides on either Inuyasha's or Kagome's shoulder.

In the sequel, [[spoiler: he's gone off on a thousand-day training retreat after realizing that how weak he is without his wind tunnel. This, however, creates a rift between him and his son Hisui, who thinks that he ran away from slaying demons as a coward]].

* CrazyPrepared: She habitually carries a lot of backup weapons, ropes, all kinds of poisons and a gas mask.

* MilesGloriosus: He's quick to brag about being just as strong as the others (sometimes stronger), but when he's actually needed he's just as quick to step back in the opposite direction and is quicker to acknowledge his shortcomings if it gets him out of danger.

* ADayInTheLimelight: Episode 97 is all about Kirara, though it mainly just involves the team reflecting on all the ways they have mistreated her.

* SpellMyNameWithAnS: In the English dub, her name is pronounced as 'Kilala', but still spelled 'Kirara'.

* ShipperOnDeck: With Inuyasha/Kagome. Whenever Inuyasha and Kikyo have a romantic moment, the rest of the group is miffed with his indecisiveness, despite understanding the complications surrounding it. Especially with Sango, someone who takes love very seriously [[LoveMakesYouDumb to less than ideal degrees at times]], who even uses a ''sit command'' on Inuyasha. It obviously doesn't work. She even recounts one incident saying, dead serious if she were Kagome she would break Inuyasha's legs so he could never walk again, frightening Miroku, Kirara and Shippo.

* CatchPhrase: "Will you bear my children?"

* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: Every member except Kirara is mysteriously missing following the 20-year TimeSkip. Miroku and Sango are confirmed to be around, Inuyasha and Kagome's was [[spoiler:later revealed to be sealed by Sesshomaru]] and Shippo is nowhere to be found until episode 39.

* BerserkButton: She hates being mistaken for Kikyo. Also don't give her the idea that she's only doing certain things for herself, such as when Kikyo's minions figured she wouldn't save Kikyo because she was in love with Inuyasha and wanted him for herself.

* SecondLove: For Inuyasha since his first love was her precious incarnation. So one could say she is kind-of both first and second, [[BerserkButton but don't tell her that]].

* BerserkButton: Miroku being a lecher. She later calms down as long as he's only a lecher ''with her''.

* BoobsOfSteel: Well-endowed and far more physically a fighter than Kagome.
