* EnjoKosai: She participated in this from the start of the series.[[note]] The original English dub [[{{Bowdlerise}} alters the plot]] so that she is just spending time with her divorced father.[[/note]] Natsuki eventually quits after it ends her budding relationship with Takumi. She decides to get a job (at the same gas station as Takumi in the manga, and at a fast-food restaurant in the anime), mimicking the hard-working job she sees Takumi engaging in at the gas station.
* MyGirlIsNotASlut: Before the start of the series, Takumi got into a fight with Miki when he accuses her of being one. Subverted when Takumi gets a mysterious letter at school about her engaging in enjo kosai (detailed above) and he proceeds to ghost her for several weeks until they reconcile.

* WhyWouldAnyoneTakeHimBack: InUniverse example - [[spoiler:despite implications her ex-boyfriend did something to her, to Itsuki's surprise, Kazumi forgives her ex and stays with him]].

* MetaGuy: He basically serves as an avatar for viewers who wonder why everyone else in the series drifts through corners when in reality that would be much slower than just gripping through them. Unfortunately, the series isn't about to deconstruct the idea of drifting being a more efficient and cool-looking way to take corners, and he ends up losing to several drift-oriented opponents in a row, including Keisuke, Takumi, and Kyoichi.

** Takumi absolutely '''HATES''' it when another driver bumps his car: Shingo Shoji from the Night Kids, Tomoyuki Tachi from the Todo School, and Shinji Inui from Sidewinder all did this to him in their races in ''First Stage'', ''Fourth Stage'', and ''Final Stage'', respectively. Though granted, Shingo did it with malicious intent, so considering Takumi might still be burnt about that incident, it makes sense.
