* InNameOnly: Fits this even moreso than her original trilogy self; at least in that Chloe's case, she was written back when the canon Chloe didn't have an established personality nor significant focus put on her, meaning the interpretation given to her, while not flattering, was at least somewhat possible. This Chloe doesn't have that excuse, having been written long ''after'' the canon Chloe got an established personality, making both Chloes come across as radically different characters.

* ChasteHero: She may tick off a lot of boxes when it comes to be a shoujo heroine/magical girl, but the one she ''doesn't'' is in regards to having a love interest, her date with Tony Clark aside. Most of the male figures in her life revolve her family, friends or a ParentalSubstitute in Augustine.

Most of the male figures in her life revolve her family, friends or a ParentalSubstitute in Augustine. In fact, when Augustine accusses Chloe having [[AllGirlsWantBadBoys a thing for Specter]] she tells Augustine straight out that she does ''not'' see him in that light.

* StealthInsult: One of the things Chloe calls Sara is "Salt Princess" which is an allusion to the character Veruca Salt (as Sara calls Chloe "Chloe Bucket"), the fact that there's a fairytale called "The Princess who Loves Salt" and that Sara is throwing spite or being salty. The fairytale talks about how a princess stated that she loved her father just as much as she loved salt, so she's essentially telling Sara that she loves being a spiteful spoiled bitch just as much as she has so many daddy issues.

* TheUnapologetic: [[DownplayedTrope Downplayed]]. Chloe ''is'' willing to apologize to people, but only to those ''she'' chooses to apologize to, and when she's shown to be in the wrong. This gets PlayedForDrama at the start of Act 2, since [[spoiler:her breaking of Professor Sycamore during the Cyan Desert Car has forced Paimon to reset him, and she can't apologize to him lest she sends him right back to square one again.]]

* {{Irony}}: Chloe is a notable example of TheUnapologetic, as while she's willing to apologize if she thinks she's done wrong, she'll keep herself shut and avoid any blame otherwise. [[spoiler: By the beginning of Act 2, she's forced to remain this towards Sycamore, the one person she ''wants'' to apologize too, because her horrible spitefulness and using him as a venting punching bag has broken the professor so much that Paimon is forced to essentially ''reset'' him before he freaks out again.]]

* LittleMissBadass: She dominated most of the matches in the Ninjala Car and many denizens are fearing for Augustine's life if he has to fight her. The Windchasers also see her in other adventures like fighting an Erlking, clashing against an Angel of Death-though he beat her-and beating up Temple Guards. [[spoiler:And it's she who fights off an Unown-powered Sara and never gets hit by her.]]

* LonersAreFreaks: She was quite and alone and thus the classmates equated her as a freakish freak with her freaky hobbies and bullied her without a single ounce of pity.

* MoodSwinger: The end of Act 1 and beginning of Act 2 has her become this, swinging from calm and excited to self-loathing and worry over what happened in regards to Sara, Augustine and Specter.

* NeverMyFault: Just like her usual ''Blossomverse'' self, Chloe initially refuses to assimilate the fact she has ''any'' connection to how things don't go her way; it's solely her father's fault for keeping her "caged", it's solely Goh's fault that their friendship is failing, it's solely Sara's fault that her classmates bullied her, and so on and so forth. Luckily, she eventually starts to move away from this trope.

Luckily, she eventually starts to move away from this trope.

* NoSocialSkills: It's implied that she has a problem of not knowing when and when ''not'' to talk about her hobbies; she's presumably turned people away from her hobbies over the macabre (to the point that her classmates immediately can say that Specter look likes her OC) while also pinpointing that she has struggles expressing her problems with her loved ones due to the pressure and bullying placed on her.

* HourglassPlot: When they first met in Act 1, Chloe didn't trust Professor Sycamore, and the latter did his hardest to earn her trust. Come Act 2, now it's ''Sycamore'' who no longer trusts or likes Chloe [[spoiler: after she callously broke him in order to achieve catharsis for Sara's bullshit]] and now it's ''her'' turn to try and get ''his'' trust back.

Added DiffLines:

* LaserGuidedKarma: She ends up ''breaking'' Professor Sycamore by [[spoiler: not only using him as an emotional punching bag to vent after Sara calls to gloat about her Unown rampage, but then accept the bluntness of Specter, someone she ''just met'', and not the man who has made it his ''mission'' to try help her get off the Train.]] Come the beginning of Act 2, and it becomes clear the the professor now hates her for how ''horrible'' she was to him in that moment.

* DramaQueen: [[DownplayedTrope Downplayed]]. Chloe has a tendency to either get overly emotional when it comes to certain things, or blow certain events or actions way out of proportion, but she doesn't act like this ''all'' the time. An example is her FreudianExcuse: She wanted to go to a softball camp once and behaved for an entire week so her father could sign the permission slip. However, a conference popped up at the last minute that the Professor couldn't cancel, even when she tried to offer alternatives on getting there, practically ''begging'' him to let her do something she loved. But she took all of her father's words to mean that her needs didn't matter to the professor and that she wasn't as important as Pokémon when he said that she could just go to camp next time around and decided to clam up on asking anything from to avoid another "No" from him.

** She angsts about how Goh never appears in time to keep a promise, even though he technically sees her ''every single day'' at the Institute and she could always just talk to him.

* HorribleJudgeOfCharacter: Due to a bad experience of her father refusing to let her go to softball camp -- after she fulfilled a promise to behave for a week and gave alternatives -- she thought of it as "My dad loves Pokémon more than me" rather than reassuring her that she could go next time. This caused her to shut herself off from Pokémon and anyone involved in them because everyone loves ''them'' more thatn they will ever like or notice ''her''.

This caused her to shut herself off from Pokémon and anyone involved in them (like Ash) because everyone loves ''them'' more thatn they will ever like or notice ''her''.

* IAmNotPretty: PlayedWith. She never sees herself as ugly, the worst is a "Freak" but more for her hobbies than looks, but apparently her female classmates teased her how, when she gave a neutral face or was shy that, "Normal people want ''pretty'', not ''disgusting''." And then there were the comments stating that she'd never win Goh's attention unless she's "dressed like Mew", saying that unless she's a cute little legendary, she's not someone to be noticed nor remarkable by anyone.

* StaticCharacter: She's a pretty harsh {{Deconstruction}} of the trope. Chloe ''is'' capable of change, but it's so slow and gradual that it takes a lot of effort for her to change in any meaningful way -- due to having had no proper way to vent out her frustrations due to fears of not having ''anyone'' willing to listen or help in meaningful ways --- and she's also prone to ''backtracking'' on whatever development she had at the first sign of adversity. [[spoiler: This becomes particularly notable by the Cyan Desert Car arc, as by that time she's almost ready to go home, and yet she ''throws all of that away'' to wallow in her spite and angst once more due to Sara essentially having the means to fuck with her life even more, not only causing her number to ''skyrocket'', but taking down Professor Sycamore with her, rejecting him so badly that he gets broken beyond repair and has to have his insanity ''sealed'' just for a chance to not die of despair.]] In ''Oak Lore'', Gary notes that Chloe has just gone through her "Giovanni" moment -- something so traumatic but her ego can readjust itself to help cope, but she will soon hit her "Melissa" moment -- something that will burst her bubble and make her realize that she has no choice but to change.

* {{Tsundere}}: Gary Oak in ''Oak Lore'' calls her one at her best, and it's easy to say why. She was initially aloof to those she doesn't trust or those she perceives as seeing her as worthless, built up to protect herself from the harsh bullying and belief that no one really cares for her unless she's a Pokémon lover. She ''can'' be cheerful and sweet when she's with the Red Lotus Uprising, but she still plays it safe when it comes to trusting others.

* BoringButPractical: What type of weapon does the famous idol Chloe of the Vermillion use to smite evil? A donut holer, which is essentially a rusty l-bend steel pipe that was once advertised by a sneaky con-artist cat to punch stuff to turn them into "donuts". ** A big part of her arc in Act 1 deals with her coming to realize things weren't so black and white back home, and that not all the people who hurt her did so intentionally. Despite this, her call to Ash at the start of Act 2 is peppered with mentions of how he didn't do more to help her, when it's already been made clear he was too out of the loop to do more, and can only provide a BackhandedApology that she digs so much that ''Ash himself'' has to step in before she digs herself too deep.

* BackhandedApology: Whie her apology to Ash is sincere, she does point out through it all that Ash should've been the one to make the first move to get to know her better rather than default on "Join me on a Pokémon expedition". However, she realizes how insensitive it was and goes into a full blown panic attack in the Palimpsest Car, to the point that the stress has given her a fever.

** Her ''Blossoming Trail'' self, ''Silent Hill''-wise, was based both on Alessa Gillepsie (who was bullied at school) with Heather Mason (a DaddysGirl who heads to Silent Hill tied to a prophecy to bring about paradise) but her BrokenBird status also gives her traits of Angela Orosco given how she was "abused" by her father and has a distrust of people before she decides to kill herself out of a belief that she can never be saved, her otherworld based on everything set on fire. * FreudianExcuse: The reason why Chloe never asks for anything or keeps saying "No" to Ash and Goh's suggestions to go out and see Pokémon is due to how she once wanted to go to a softball camp in Celadon which her father promised that she could go if she behaved. But when he had to rescind it at the last minute to go to a conference and said that that it wasn't necessary ''now'', despite Chloe trying to find a solution to her problems and fulfilled her promise to behave for a week, his answers basically told her that her needs are not as important to those related to Pokémon, which is why Goh is easily able to tell Ash that "She's just not into them anymore". Not helping was that when Sara learned that her father didn't sign her permission slip, it was just ''another'' way of saying her dad never loved her, something the Professor sees for himself in the Cyan Desert Car.

* BullyMagnet: Was bullied at school for her "privileged" life of being a professor's daughter and her hobbies, to the point that she's unfazed by Asher freaking out at seeing Marchosias' seal on her sheath and begins listing ''every single thing'' she has had to go through at school. Asher tells her that even ''if'' Chloe conformed to their wishes, they still would've bullied her cause they enjoyed her suffering. Near the end of the Cyan Desert Car, when the classmates admit that if they realized ''who'' they were bullying, they wouldn't have done so. Chloe, however, remarks that it ''wouldn't'' have mattered; regardless of her status, they would've bullied her because they just wanted to hurt ''someone'' and not care of the consequences.

** The fact that she blows up so easily and her hints of StepfordSmiler and refusal to open up -- out of fear of hurting others and being selfish with her desires -- can also mean that she has suffers through anxiety or panic attacks. It represents how suffocating it feels for her to talk about her problems due to the environment she lived in back in Vermillion City. A red-haired girl from Vermillion City, daughter of Professor Cerise. She has been declared missing for two months with a campaign for her to come home and news broadcasting the bullying she went through at her school. Unfortunately, she doesn't have plans to come home at the moment as she's busy with a quest of her own.

* ActionFashionista: In the span of Act 1, she has ''four'' different outfits[[labelnote:Explanation]]Her original white beach dress, a purple hakama, a white tunic/faux fur vest/brown leggings ensemble, and a black suit/skirt puppeteer[[/labelnote]] and uses an app to create attires based on the ''Ars Goetia'' demons. She also has two artifacts that are infused by the power of two of those demons, will bash your head in with a donut holer, and ''can incinerate an army with a blast of fire''.
* ActionGirl: Much like her ''Blossoming Trail'' self, she's ready to get into a brawl with a donut holer.
* AchievementsInIgnorance: [[spoiler: She manages to transform the entire Mirage army into Denizens just by wishing to give them hope and a different path real hard. It's later revealed that this was actually the result of her cloak, and the demon and god backing her up, but given this was done unconsciously the trope still applies.]] Lampshaded by Chloe herself as she had no idea how the heck she did that feat in the beginning.
* ActuallyPrettyFunny: When Vaillant compares her to a demon lord, Chloe laughs at the comparison and decides that she'll call herself "Demon Lord of the Vermillion" from now on.
* AdaptationalContextChange:
** Her ImportantHaircut. In ''Blossoming Trail'', it was based off a desperate move to avoid being killed during The Dead Carnival Car before restyled after her mother's email to start changing herself. In here, she does it in a relatively safe environment in order to go "F You" to the Cage of Flauros.
** Instead of the fanfic focusing on her friendship issues with Goh, Chloe's main motivation is to repair her broken relationship with her father, since Act 2 is going to [[spoiler:focus on her trying to find him when he gest on the Train.]]
* AdaptationalNiceGuy: In comparison to her ''Blossoming Trail'' self, she does not spew around spite for catharsis in the slightest. Instead, she is willing to be more forgiving at what others have done and admit that she herself wasn't as innocent as she wanted.
* AdaptationRelationshipOverhaul:
** Her and Goh's friendship was one of the biggest focus of the original ''Blossomverse'' trilogy, focusing on both how it had deteriorated and their attempts to try and redeem it. In here, while still prominent, it's nowhere near as important, and it gets resolved fairly early into the story with Goh being able to focus on his loves also while waiting for Chloe to return.
** By contrast, Chloe and her father barely shared any time together back in ''Blossoming Trail'', and what little time they did spend consisted of Chloe yelling at him and disowning him before going radio silent under the belief he didn't care enough to even message her. In here, while they still have issues, greater focus is placed over how the duo actually care about each other and admit that they made plenty of mistakes.
** Chloe saw Ash as a black hole who was purposefully stealing everything away. Here, she learns that it wasn't the case and is willing to see him as the kind-hearted boy he truly is.
** In ''Infinity Train: Boiling Point'' and ''Melancholy Afterlife'', Chloe was known to be close to Specter (who is a youkai in that iteration) to the point that she could happily proclaim she wants to go back to her dream of having a romantic date with him and [[spoiler: his death]] ''really'' caused her to lose it. In this iteration, while Specter ''does'' help her calm down from her mental breakdown, she doesn't crush on him (and it wouldn't have mattered anyway as Specter is confirmed as gay by Green Phantom Queen)
* AesopAmnesia: Despite being repeatedly taught not to let her anger overtake her and especially not to take her frustrations out on others, [[spoiler: the reveal about the Unown situation causes her to do both: getting so angry at Sara she takes it out on Sycamore, causing him to break.]]
* AllGirlsLikePonies: She apparently loved spending time in the Nightmares Car -- as in a car with Gothic looking horses -- and went on the haunted carousel plenty of times.
* AlliterativeName: '''C'''hloe '''C'''erise.
* AllLovingHeroine: Human or denizen, Chloe cares for them all. She forgave Lexi for accidentally getting her struck with hot water burns, she accepts Amelia into the group, and wanted to do all she can to help Dr. Yung's mirage army [[spoiler:which culminated in her using a power from her cloak to do just that.]]
* AllOfTheOtherReindeer: Just like in canon, Chloe became her class's personal punching bag solely under the basis of her father's job and her hobbies. Thankfully she gets a break in the Cyan Desert Car when her classmates, now fully realizing how horrible they were, admit that they seriously messed up and she's willing to give them a second chance.
* AllUpToYou: With Sycamore [[spoiler: going on his own mental therapy with Auric]] and the rest of the teams focusing on [[spoiler: fighting the Shadows]], Chloe's ultimately the only one left to [[spoiler: confront Sara and end her reign of terror once and for all.]]
* AlwaysSomeoneBetter: No matter what Sara does in the Cyan Desert Car arc, she can never best Chloe. When the two fight, Sara has to upgrade her bat to shoot crystal spikes and ''set it on fire'' and she never gets a hit in. Chloe simply uses her donut holer as it is, and also resorts to punches and kicks if need be, only using her cloak's power ''once''.
-->'''[=UnSycamore=]/[[spoiler:Asher]]''': You [Sara] stole her father, she has the leading Pokémon Professor on Mega Evolution by her side. You stole her confidence, she gained it right back from her supporters and people she saved in her journey. You stole her love of Pokémon, she gained the love of a mirage hellhound…
** [[SubvertedTrope Subverted]] when it comes to [[spoiler: dealing with the Mirage army]] compared to Ash: people initially claim that she did better than him, but it's more out of adrenaline and trying to keep Chloe happy (as she's going through a PerformanceAnxiety breakdown not helped that she's talking to the Alola gang aka the friends who praise Ash as Alola League Champion). Once the situation gets properly addressed, it's made clear they were both equal in how they handled it and Chloe accepts it.
** For all how she lambasts that she feels overshadowed by the likes of Ash, she's (unknowingly) like this to Grace. Grace busted her ass off for a decade trying to survive the Train, whereas Chloe is granted two friends, an ally in the Conductor ''who Grace worships'', a magic artifact and the love of the Train itself.
* AmbiguousDisorder:
** She has a hard time controlling her feelings or explaining herself, she has an obsession with demons and macabre stuff and, if Sara is accurate, was very annoying because she was showing off her horror stuff to everyone (her ''entire class'' knew about her OC for one thing, and it's implied through a line in the Chocolate Car that her excessive talking about her hobbies made everyone flee from her), indicating that Chloe may or may not have fallen into the autism spectrum.
** The fact that she blows up so easily and her hints of StepfordSmiler and refusal to open up -- out of fear of hurting others and being selfish with her desires -- can also mean that she has suffers through anxiety or panic attacks. Notably, during the conference in the Chocolate Car, she's either ready to storm off when the Alola gang jump onto Augustine, cover her ears or ''set something on fire'' at the slightest idea of being mocked at, not to mention her own issues with PerformanceAnxiety.
* AmuletOfConcentratedAwesome: In the Cyan Desert Car, she obtains an artifact called the Halo of Valac and Hestia, which allows her to call upon a demon for a task.
* AndImTheQueenOfSheba: When Yugure introduces himself in the Cyan Desert Car -- and Chloe has some suspicion that he's not human (which he isn't) -- she snarks then she's a Lord in the Johto Region.
* AnimalMotif: Canines, particularly wolves, as usual. Aside from partnering with Atticus and her Pokémon partner being Yamper, Lexi's outfit in The Ninjala Car has her have him associate with Naberius (an Ars Goetia demon based on Cerberus) and she herself has her Cloak of Marchosias and Wepwawet, both based off on wolves. Moreover, her character is based on the main protagonists of ''WesternAnimation/{{Wolfwalkers}}''. The Mirage Pokémon that becomes attached to her is a Houndoom, based on a {{Hellhound}}.
* AttentionWhore: [[DownplayedTrope Downplayed]]. At least part of the reason Chloe retains her canonical melodramatic tendencies is to try and get people to notice her (under the belief no one would actually believe she's in trouble unless she makes a big scene of it beause she's an introvert), but she slowly starts to grow out of this mindset after a talk with her mother.
* AwLookTheyReallyDoLoveEachOther: Chloe's relationship with her father begins much the same way in canon, with complete and utter contempt of the pathetic professor. However, as the story goes on and Professor Cerise actually owns up to his terrible parenting, it becomes clear that the two really do love each other even after everything that's happened. The best example comes when [[spoiler: the team finds out that Professor Cerise is on the Train; rather than getting angry that her father is now on the same place as her, Chloe becomes worried sick for him and decides to look for him.]]
* BadassAdorable: She's a cute ten-year-old girl who is ready to get into a lot of bloody scrapes.
* BerserkButton: A few of them include: hurting her brother, calling her a Princess or insulting her love of the macabre.
* BewareTheQuietOnes: Due to the bullying of her classmates, she's reduced to a ShrinkingViolet. Goh is shocked to see Chloe ''close to killing her bully'' by beating her with a paint can and choking her to death after they pulled a ''Carrie'' on her, because he never expected her to snap like that.
* BeyondTheImpossible: She somehow [[spoiler: turned the entire mirage army ''into full-blown denizens'']] via the power of her Cloak. Something that shocks ''One-One'' to no end.
* BloodSplatteredWarrior: When Gloria, Victor, and Goh see the video of her beating Sara with a paint can, she's completely covered in red paint invoking the trope. Victor even calls her a "warrior".
* BodyMotifs: The neck compared to shoulders in ''Blossoming Trail''. She always feels like she is pressed on her back with numerous feet on her neck and Mirage Mewtwo squeezes her neck when she starts mouthing off at Dr. Yung. It represents how suffocating it feels for her to talk about her problems due to the environment she lived in back in Vermillion City. Her second artifact is a necklace that lets her summon a demon whenever she wants.
* BoringButPractical: What type of weapon does the famous Chloe of the Vermillion use? A donut holer. It's not as flashy as a well-crafted sword from the Monster City Car, doen't have magic like Amelia's Ice Wand and isn't made of crystal like Yuri's own sword, but a good swing of a heavy pipe to one's face is going to ''hurt'' in the morning.
* BringIt:
** In the Ninjala Car, [[spoiler:she does this to the Mirage army when she's cornered and unleashes a RainOfArrows attack, thinking that is where she was going to die.]]
-->'''Chloe:''' '''''COME AT ME!'''''
** In her battle with Sara during the Cyan Desert Car arc she shouts at her to "GET NICE AND SALTY FOR ME!!!"
* BrokenBird: When there is no more spite and anger in her, this is all that's left. A girl who would fly like Icarus and then plummet into the sea because she's so tired of having to be pushed around just for being herself.
* BulliedIntoDepression: Thoroughly bullied by her own class and ignored by her sole ChildhoodFriend and her parents that she's withdrawn, afraid of hoping, and somewhat cynical, already expecting Asher to make a comment about her being a "monster lover". She later starts moving out of it, though it still creeps up every now and then.
* BullyMagnet: Was bullied at school for her "privileged" life of being a professor's daughter, to the point that she's unfazed by Asher freaking out at seeing Marchosias' seal on her sheath and begins listing ''every single thing'' she has had to go through at school.
* CannotSpitItOut: Early Act 1 has her not wanting to admit that she should confess to her problems under the belief that she has doubts that ''anyone'' back home believes her. In fact, most of her problems -- while they could have been noticed sooner if someone else noticed it -- could've been solved if she spoke up as to ''why'' she doesn't like Ash constantly asking her to see Pokémon, ask her father to let her do something outside being in the Instiute or even reminded Goh to ''finally'' keep a promise to see her on time. Chloe later admits that she's just so ''scared'' to speak up because she's been told time and time again that "No one loves if you're not into Pokémon" and she later admits to her mother that she blows up because she feels like it's the only way that for ''someone'' to finally notice her.
* CharacterDevelopment: Part and parcel in being a passenger.
** She gets her development to let go of her catharsis and spite ''much'' earlier than in canon thanks to Goh getting a chance to chew her out for how she never said anything, culminating in them promising to work on their friendship again. And upon learning that her father withheld therapy from her, instead of getting ''more'' incensed like she did in ''Court of Cyclamen'', she calms down enough to state while she ''is'' mad that her father wouldn't give her help, she decides to move on because getting angry and chewing him out won't change anything.
** Unlike in ''Blossoming Trail'', when she didn't show any concern for her brother when she made her damning "If things don't get better when I return, I'm staying on the Train" email, she directly calls her mother and Parker, giving him a message that she ''will'' come back and be the better sister figure for him.
** While she does have dramatic moments and can play things up out of proportion, she is now working on seeing the circle of things she ''can'' control as opposed to feeling like she can't do anything at all. The Chloe before the Train would've bottled everything up and get mad when no one was helping her, whereas the Chloe that has support from others is learning that she has the power to change her situation in a constructive way.
** During her talk with her classmates, Chloe maturely states that she can't forgive them, but hopes to move on and perhaps become friends after the situation with Sara is over.
* CharacterExaggeration:
** Her love of the macabre and demons were a basis of her character in ''Blossoming Trail'', but here it becomes much more prominent due to the fact that demons actually ''exist'' on the Train and the Ars Goetia family have been keeping an eye out on her progress.
** Chloe did performances more to motivate the entire Train in ''Blossoming Trail''. Here, if she finds ''any'' excuse to have a performance -- like to replace someone for the Cyan Desert Cat Story Festival -- not only is she on board with it, but the Infinity Train takes them so seriously that there's ''merchandise and glow sticks'' with an audience akin to a BTS concert!
* ChessMotif: Her Belial outfit has a little red queen chess piece on her hat. Red is her signature color and queens are known to be the powerful piece in the game, freely able to go wherever they please and helps her stand out from her dislike of being a princess.
* ClothesMakeTheSuperman: Chloe's talented on her own, that can't be denied, but it's clear as day that most of her power and thus her reputation comes down to her Cloak of Marchosias and Wepwawet: pyrokinesis, wolfshifting, and many more powers within this thing make Chloe a lot more formidable than usual. Justified because it's fueled by the power of the demon and god it's named after.
* ColorMotif: Aside from the red that grants her the name "Chloe of the Vermillion", black becomes her secondary color. The outfits she gave Asher and Lexi (before he has to settle for Seere) have plenty of black, her Mirage Pokémon partner is the black and red Houndoom, and her final outfit for Act 1 is completely black. This helps her contrast with Augustine's white/black lab-coat.
* CompositeCharacter:
** While she's mostly inspired by Robin Goodfellowe (see Expy below), she also share traits with Mebh Óg [=MacTíre=] too, being that she's a SignificantGreenEyedRedhead whose wolf form is a bright red wolf with traits of a StepfordSmiler in her.
Fittingly, Augustine Sycamore is compared to James Sunderland and, thankfully, Augustine was able to reach out to Chloe. As of the end of Act 1, she has the film version of Heather Mason added onto the list [[spoiler:because her main mission is to go in search for her father as Harry Mason/Christopher de Silva is alive in that iteration.]]
** Her black attire, firepower, love of fighting, closeness to Specter (during the Cyan Desert Arc) and direct ability to summon demons instead of just imagining them bring to mind Koharu Sakuragi from ''Fanfic/InfinityTrainBoilingPoint''.
* ConditionedToAcceptHorror: She's so used to the bullying at school and no one coming to help her that not only can she list everything that her class did to her in a tone of someone reading a grocery list, but she tells Asher to just speak whatever insult comes to mind (because he accidentally asked why Chloe has Marchosias' seal on her scabbard for her donut holer and made her assume he was mocking her, not because she had no idea that he's afraid of fire which is one of Marchosias's abilities). This ''horrifies'' the Persona -- who was traumatized to the point of ''brainwashing Augustine'' in an attempt to protect him -- more than anything else.
* CrazyPrepared: She made numerous outfits for Lexi (all of them based on demons) should he ever want to change his wardrobe. This comes in handy when Asher wants a new outfit for himself in the Fashion Runway Car and when Lexi is pretty much forced to drop his Specter guise.
* CurbStompBattle: What got her on the Train was being pushed to fight [[TheAce Ash Ketchum]] in a battle by her classmates. She lost because she's not into battling and doesn't know anything except "Yamper, use Spark" while Ash is the Alola League Champion. This ended up being one of the final straws because it just showed Chloe that she's an absolutely ''nothing'' compared to him and that she was dreading the reactions of her classmates when they found out.
* CuteBruiser: Absolutely adorable and has a good swing with either her donut holer or an Iron Noise.
* DarkIsNotEvil: By the end of Act 1, she's dressed in black, has two artifacts based on ''demons'', loves dark video games, and her Mirage Pokémon is a Hellhound, but she's a sweet girl who is off to stop the Apex.
* DaddysGirl: What Chloe wants most of all, outside for her classmates to stop pushing her into being like everyone else, is just for her dad to ''love her'' and give her as much attention as he does to his research fellows and let her be herself, not his successor. Unfortunately, she was so overcome with anger and spite at the beginning that she essentially forgot this trait, and by the time the two do reconcile and are willing to try get along better, [[spoiler: the professor winds up so broken that he ends up boarding the Train.]]
* DeconReconSwitch:
** Chloe's admittance of hating the nickname "princess" stems on how insulting it is that she's stuck in a certain mold and also because she's not really ''treated'' as a princess by her classmates. Talia helps reassure her just because Chloe doesn't look like a princess, she still has a caring and gentle heart of one.
** Act 1 deconstructs her attitude towards everyone and how she put this hell upon herself akin to her ''Blossoming Trail'' self. However it also points out that doesn't necessarily mean she's a ''bad'' person; just someone who needs a bit of guidance and courage to stand up for herself and willing to change.
* DecompositeCharacter: If her bully Sara is like Sara Berry, then she would be Julie Jenkins. However she only has the aspects that involve her always one-upping Sara and being adored after something horrible happened to her (in this case, her running away from home from the exenstive bullying whereas Parker would be the one with the terrible injury)
* {{Determinator}}: If Chloe puts her mind to it, ''nothing'' can stop her. The Ninjala Car is her finest example. [[spoiler:If she wants to free the Mirage Pokémon from Dr. Yung's control, she will do it ''even if it costs her life''.]]
* DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything: The way she alludes that being into Pokémon is equated to being "normal" and how she's [[BullyMagnet been treated]] due to her not liking Pokémon like everyone else expect her to be is akin to someone who is picked on for being mentally disabled. That no matter what she does, she's just not going to fit in. Chloe even states that her (possible future) teachers will assume that her not liking Pokémon is just a ''phase'' she'll grow out of, not to mention that her father also secretly admitted WhyCouldntYouBeDifferent and couldn't comprehend why his daughter just ''wasn't'' into Pokémon.
* DrivenToSuicide: Admits to Sycamore that she's had thoughts like this due to high expectations placed on her, having little to no help from adult figures, having no trust for her ChildhoodFriend actually keeping his promises for once and the pain of the bullying. Parker has to learn that his sister's poem about becoming Icarus was symbolizing this wish, not just wanting to get away from her troubles.
->'''Chloe:''' If the train didn't come and my class learned of my epic fail against a champion, it would be all I needed to climb the school rooftop and jump off it. And then I'll be forgotten, cause no one cares about some weird ''loser'' like me unless I was their favorite punching bag.
* DropTheHammer: Her weapon in the Ninjala Car is an Iron Noise hammer.
[[/folder]]
[[folder:E-M]]
* EasilyForgiven: Despite [[spoiler: driving Professor Sycamore past the DespairEventHorizon by not only rejecting his attempts to help her calm down, but coldly rebutting him and chiding him with extreme pessimism]], which even Chloe herself believes was too much, the professor tells her that she's forgiven and to forget about it. However, she doesn't feel like she deserves to be forgiven.
* EmbarrassingHobby: Like in ''Blossoming Trail'', her hobby of the macabre is treated as this because it's not "what she's supposed to be" and makes her look and act like such a freak or "Monster Lover".
* EveryoneHasStandards
** While she writes stories that have lots of grizzly fates, she will not use MindManipulation or anything of the sort, and is horrified when [[spoiler:she enters Augustine's mind and learns that Asher put in a trigger word that lets him puppeteer the Professor for his own use.]]
** [[spoiler:Sara's]] actions in the Cyan Desert Car sicken her, which she quotes:
-->"I like scary things, I don't like ''hurting people!"''
** When Yuri points out that Lugh's burning spear could be equated to a nuclear bomb, she gets sick to her stomach and ''vomits'' in a trashcan. She is into the macabre, not nuclear war!
* {{Expy}}:
** She's a more-pronounced Tulip Olsen than in the original ''Blossoming Trail'' being a FieryRedhead whose problems stemmed from not being able to go to a camp they loved, and more emphasis is on her learning to compartmentalize her emotions and understand her parents' point of view.
** According to the co-author, this iteration of Chloe is based on [[WesternAnimation/{{Wolfwalkers}} Robin Goodfellowe]] for being a GirlyGirlWithATomboyStreak who keeps her hair in a braid and wishes to be free from being "caged" by her father and is seen as an outcast. She later ditches the braid to become her true spirited self and even has the ability to transform into a wolf (albeit Chloe is red whereas Robin was grey). Appropriately, "Running with the Wolves" is playing when Chloe decides to stand up to Mirage Mewtwo.
** A girl with a red and black motif that's on the side of good and is also a fashionista? Are we talking Chloe or [[WesternAnimation/MiraculousLadybug Marinette]]?
** Sara compares her to [[Literature/CharlieAndTheChocolateFactory Charlie Bucket]], because she just does ''nothing'' and yet gets privileged with everything she ever wanted. While Chloe admits that Sara has points on that, she also states that she relates more to [[Film/WillyWonkaAndTheChocolateFactory the film version]] as Charlie ''is'' a good kid who did make some selfish mistakes but he is ''also'' capable of apologizing and making amends. The novel version refers to the Chloe prior to her CharacterDevelopment as she honestly does nothing to better herself, whereas the film version is her current self, a more rounded person who does have flaws but is still a good-hearted person in the end. Notably, film Charlie's sin is Envy, which Chloe initially shared over how she sees Pokémon trainers as more superior and loved than her.
** If Augustine has traits based on Oersted, Chloe is his Alethea. She's Augustine's LivingEmotionalCrutch and nearly causes Augustine to ''lose it'' during the Cyan Desert Car, compared to Alethea killing herself in front of Oersted. Main difference is that Chloe quickly realizes her mistake and tries to fix it whereas Alethea didn't realize her mistake until far ''far'' too late. [[spoiler:What doesn't help was that she falls for Specter's advice than Augustine's kindness, just like how Alethea fell in love with Streibugh and spitefully ignored everything Oersted did to rescue her.]]
* FaceDeathWithDignity:
** [[spoiler:When it seems like she will die to the Mirage Army, she turns into her Marchosias form and lets out one final howl of defiance as she envisions herself returning to the Cerise Institute and Yamper. It's later revealed that she ends up ''surviving'' the attack because the true powers of her cloak activated due to her determination to not run away and focus on her love for Yamper.]]
** [[spoiler:With nowhere to run and [=UnCerise=] choking her to death, Chloe dares Sara to kill her and accepts the death by spiky bat. Thankfully [=UnSycamore=]/Asher takes the blow before it comes to path.]]
* FairytaleMotifs: She compares herself to ''[[Literature/TheUglyDuckling The Ugly Ducklett]]'' in the Ninjala Car, as she's pushed around for being "different" and once listed by other girls that her face wasn't good enough -- they reportedly said "People want ''pretty'', not ''disgusting''" -- and that neither girls nor boys wanted to befriend her. And just like the ugly duckling learns that there was a beautiful swan in him all along, she grows up to see a strong, proud girl that doesn't ''need'' to follow the same road everyone else takes.
* FashionDesigner: Downplayed; the only hints we have of Chloe being like this is through a standard "Create-a-Crush" app, but the designs she makes through it are enough for Lexi and Asher to want outfits based off of ''Ars Goetia'' demons (and Asher's outfit was good enough that Anubis noted the ''real'' Caim was flattered). Justified in that she's currently on the Infinity Train so she doesn't have the time to sit in front of a sewing machine to make clothes for herself.
* TheFashionista: Zigzagged; she's into fashion but rather it's for Lexi's outfits instead of her own. She apparently has made numerous outfits inspired by the ''Ars Goetia'' demons for him to try on her Create-a-Crush app. Asher requests to have her make an outfit for him based on Caim and she becomes enamored when he brings up the "Poe Ballroom Car" to her. She also loves changing her outfits whenever she gest the chance.
* FatalFlaw:
** Fear; she's afraid of going back home because of how things play out should she return and of being told that she's worthless since she's not what society thinks she should be, which also feeds into her anger and spite to the point she exaggerates how bad her home life is. However, Atticus and Lexi help her point out that sometimes what she fears isn't as big as they are and she needs to know that there are people who truly want what's best for her. Augustine vowing to make a promise to be by her side is enough to slowly break out of this.
** Impulsiveness; she is shown to not think things through in regards to actions probably to coincide with her flaw of being a failure or seen as "lesser" because she's not into Pokémon.
** Helplessness; she is afraid of things going out of control despite everything she does to grab it. [[spoiler:Sara's use of the Unown to hurt her father, brother and potentially Goh and Ash, has her unleash a storm of fire and undo all her progress.]]
** Melodrama; while it doesn't happen often, when Chloe blows things out of proportion, she ''really'' makes them seem worse than they are. Her FreudianExcuse being one example, taking her father being unable to take her to a softball camp she wanted as him not caring for her and her needs and Pokémon being more important than her.
** Anger. Get her angry enough, and she can not only backtrack on all the progress she made, but hurt everyone who tries to help her regardless of whether she means it or not. Just ask Professor Sycamore.
* FeatherMotif: Her Cloak of Marchosias gives her feathery wings and Parker recounts a time where she wrote a poem about Icarus, which parallels her wish to be free but deep down knows that it's not possible.
* FemalesAreMoreInnocent: Zigzagged.
** In comparison to Sara and Grace, she is ''definitely'' the innocent one since she's not spewing lies or corrupting others to hurt innocent people. When it comes to who is more at fault with her and Goh's friendship failing? Well, while Goh ''was'' heavily insensitive and lived in his own bubble at times, failing at keeping a simple promise repeatedly, he also tells Chloe that she also kept things tight-lipped that him only telling Ash that she's not into Pokémon was legitimate because that's the ''only'' thing she mentioned. Chloe admits that he's right on that and vows to be better.
** While her father could have better worded his reason why Chloe couldn't go to softball camp at that moment, and she did fulfill her end of the bargain to behave for a week ''and'' offered alternatives, she just decided to not speak to him and refuse to ask him for anything else, seeing him as someone who won't have time for her at all.
* FieryRedhead: She has red hair and a very fiery personality as Gloria points out.
* FireIsMasculine: Inverted. Chloe is a GirlyGirlWithATomboyStreak but she has a hard-hitting fighting style with her donut holer and is a passionate, impulsive and determined girl ready to face off any and all obstacles. The demon associated with her is Marchosias, the fire-breathing wolf, and her Mirage Pokémon partner is the Dark/Fire Houndoom.
* FirstWorldProblems: Discussed. Chloe feels like she doesn't ''deserve'' to convess everything that caused her to get her on the Train -- fighting Ash in a Pokémon battle (by a dare pressed on her), arguing over her friend making curry and her dad trying to comfort her with ill-timed battle advice -- or the fact that she shouldn't be complaining ''at all'' because she has such a "privileged" life to see Pokémon up close, that her father is a professor, that it's not "normal" for her to ''not'' have a goal in life, etc. Thankfully she's taught that people like Pokémon differently and that she ''did'' suffer a lot from the bullying at school.
-->'''Kiawe:''' First world or not, they were still things you had to go through. You shouldn’t have had to be bullied and put down because you were different or who your father was. Seriously, what type of school would just blatantly ''ignore'' that someone was going through that much pain and assume that she would just be like everyone 'else instead of accepting who she was and supporting her?
* FiveStagesOfGrief: Goes through the entire gambit of this at the end of the Cyan Desert Car at the prospect of [[spoiler:her dad getting on the Train.]]
** Denial: She buries the truth with a smile and insistent on trying to use her cloak to obtain knowledge or tends to focus on something else to keep her mind off of it.
** Anger: Is barely keeping it together with the stress of what's going on.
** Bargaining: Is begging the Train to keep [[spoiler:her father]] safe.
** Depression: [[spoiler:Once the news kicks in that he's on the Train, she starts breaking down.]]
** Acceptance: With reassurance from everyone else, she can put hope for the future and move forward, albeit she still show signs of slipping as shown in the Act 1 Intermission.
* FreudianExcuseIsNoExcuse: Despite the earlier trope, this doesn't give Chloe any leeway in regards to her own passivity and refusal to open up, which Goh greatly calls out when they talk: he makes it clear that she doesn't get to say that ''he'' was solely at fault for their friendship failing when Chloe had just as much of a role as he did with her choosing to keep her problems to herself.
* FuryFueledFoolishness: Happens a lot more rarely with this incarnation of her, but it still happens. The biggest example has to be when [[spoiler: she finds out Sara has the power of the Unown, in which she gets so enraged at it that she not only rebuffs Professor Sycamore's attempt to console her, but scolds him hard enough to ''send him past the DespairEventHorizon''.]]
* GamerGirl: Aside from wanting to play ''Silent Hill'', she names a Mirage Houndoom that becomes fond of her "Hewie" from ''VideoGame/HauntingGround.'' She also is apparently aware of ''VideoGame/NoMoreHeroes'' given her insult to Henry Townsend which gets confirmed during the Cyan Desert Arc as Renji let her play all four games while remarking that Sara is Bad Girl and her quotes to her are similar to Travis chewing out FU in ''No More Heroes III''.
* GaveUpTooSoon: As revealed later, her FreudianExcuse is that the professor once promised to take her to Softball Camp one time, but a last-minute conference came up and he had to cancel those plans. While Chloe ''did'' try to argue for an alternative, she was pretty dang quick to give up not only on getting her father to listen, but give up on him in general.
* GenkiGirl: On the Train she's a cheerful, bubbly girl with energy to spare. However, there are times where she might be using this mask to escape the traumas from her school life.
* GirlsLoveChocolate: The minute she learns she's in the Chocolate Car, she basically races to the entrance to see what's in store. Her favorite ice cream flavor is mint chocolate chip.
* GirlyBruiser: She's a sweet adorable girl who usually wears dresses, has a thing for designing clothes off of demons, is a dog lover, a romantic when it comes to true love (and same-sex love at that), and has a sweet tooth. She's also the fearless leader of the Red Lotus Uprising who will knock you across the head with a heavy pipe (or donut holer) and is not afraid of getting dirty if need be.
* GirlyGirlWithATomboyStreak: She likes to wear dresses, has a fondness for chocolate, and turns red upon learning that Ryan and Min-Gi got married. She's also willing to get into a brawl and has a love of demons and nightmarish things too, and her final outfit for Act 1 involves a top hat and suit jacket.
* GoshDarnItToHeck: She calls Henry [[VideoGame/NoMoreHeroes "Mr. Sir Henry Mother-of-Furfur"]] instead of the more famous profanity filled version ("Mr. Sir Henry Motherfucker"). Averted in her fight against Sara where she gets ''really'' down with the swear words.
* GrewASpine: Thanks to Augustine's support, Chloe becomes able to stand up for herself and accept who she is. This comes to a test when Anubis gets angry at how she's into demons and she tells the Lord of Judgment to stuff it.
* GrinOfAudacity: She sports when in the Ninjala Car when she tells Dr. Yung that his attempts in making a new and improved Mirage System and trying to shut her up will fail. All while Mirage Mewtwo is ''slamming her against a window''. ''Repeatedly''.
* HeroesLoveDogs: Aside from having a Yamper back at home, her first partner on the Train is Atticus and she gets a Mirage Pokémon partner in Hewie, a Houndoom.
* HiddenDepths
** A conversation with her mother reveals that she once watched a tokusatsu show involving motorcycles and a mirror world. She doesn't clarify if it was either ''Series/KamenRiderRyuki'' or ''Series/KamenRiderDragonKnight'' though.
** She brings up a wrestler to Gloria who loved chanting how he'd [[Wrestling/JeffHardy "fade away and classify himself as obsolete"]].
** She makes an offhanded remark on how she's into a boy band that she calls [[Music/{{BTS}} "Berry boy scouts"]] even though they have constant debates about [[SeriousBusiness whether or not mint chocolate ice cream should exist.]] (And yes, BTS ''does'' have debates over that.)
** While she's mostly into the macabre, she knows about cyberpunk given the type of costume she gives Augustine for his performance at the Cyan Desert Car.
* HopeCrusher: Unintentionally acts as this to Professor Sycamore, with her verbal lashout against him during near the end of the Cyan Desert Car causing Sycamore to lose all hope and [[spoiler: nearly destroy or restart the world out of a feeling that he can't do anything right with the current state of things.]]
* HopeIsScary: She is afraid of putting trust in people, particularly adults, because every single one of them ''promised'' told her that things "will get better". But they didn't and the adults never even thought to be concerned about her but were rather focused on Pokémon or that she'll get ''into'' it. Fittingly, her favorite demon is Marchosias, who is usually described in wishing to return to heaven "but has been deceived of that hope". Thanks to Augustine's promise to be there for her, she's learning to let go of this trope [[spoiler:but slips back into this when Sara gets her hands on the Unown as she feels like there's no way to stop someone with that much power]].
* HotBlooded: Once Choe is fired up, she ''really'' gets fired up.
* HowDoIShotWeb: Zigzagged; while she's capable of casting fire well with her Cloak of Marchosias and Wepwawet, the transformation ''into'' Marchosias is something she doesn't know how to fix. When she meets Anubis in the Cyan Desert Car, he explains that she'll have to ask Wepwawet himself -- the little brother of Anubis -- as he's the one who created the cloak in the first place. [[spoiler:Turns out Wepwawet has no idea either -- as Chloe is the first person to ever use the cloak -- but assumes that the overload of turning the Mirage Army into denizens netted her with enough EXP for it to evolve and change.]]
* HugeGuyTinyGirl: A platonic example but she's the tiny girl to Augustine. It varies when it comes to Lexi; his ''human'' form is based off a teenager, but his real form as a book is tiny compared to Chloe. And then there's also her with Specter which he towers over her.
* {{Hypocrite}}: As Goh points out when he snaps at her, she condemns him as being the sole reason their friendship fell apart and for not trying harder to keep it afloat, despite Chloe herself having as much of a role in it going awry as he did.
* IAmNotPretty: PlayedWith. She never sees herself as ugly, the worst is a "Freak" but more for her hobbies than looks, but apparently her female classmates teased her how, when she gave a neutral face or was shy that, "Normal people want ''pretty'', not ''disgusting''." And then there were the comments stating that she'd never win Goh's attention unless she's "dressed like Mew", saying that unless she's a cute little legendary, she's not someone to be noticed nor remarkable.
* IHatePastMe: She really hates looking at the texts she gave Goh during the Cyan Desert Car trip, realizing that she was being spiteful for no good reason.
* IJustWantToBeFree: Her deepest wish is to be herself, not be "caged" in her father's institute or the expectations of doing something she doesn't like and to finally feel like she no longer has so many feet pressing down on her neck from bullies.
* IJustWantToBeLoved: Like in ''Blossomverse'', she just wants to know that she's loved as she is. More importantly, she wants her dad to show her the same love and affection that he shows Ash and Goh.
* ImNotAfraidOfYou: At the climax of the Mirage Army battle in the Ninjala Car, Chloe decides that she's no longer going to be afraid of the bullies in her life and stands her ground -- whlie Mirage Mewtwo is just seconds away from ''disintegrating her, no less!'' -- before unleashing the true power of her Cloak.
* ImportantHaircut: She cuts her hair while in the Fashion Runway Car so she can ScrewDestiny as BROKEN Matt stated that Lady Destiny was a maiden in a white dress and long flowing red hair.
* InSeriesNickname: Asher likes to call her "Miss Vermillion" or "Little Witch" while Yuri and Vaillant call her "Miss Witch" and "Demon Lord". Opal in ''Rey Mysterio versus the Cosmos'' calls her "Crimson Servant of Xolotl".
* ItOnlyWorksOnce: Both of the artifacts she carries work out this way:
** She can only enter the soul of a person once through the Cloak of Marchosias. [[spoiler: She tries to break this rule in order to help Sycamore regain his sanity after her horrible words to him break him in the Cyan Desert Car, but Wepwawet rebuffs her repeatedly.]]
** The Halo of Valac allows her to summon any demon she wants, but only for one task.
* ItsAllMyFault:
** After Goh chews her out for not saying what was wrong with her, she breaks down and believes that everything that happened is her fault because of who she is, and because she's not who's she "supposed" to be. It takes Goh to help reassure her that wasn't the case and that ''he'' also should've paid more attention to what was going on, and also should've apologized for saying that she wasn't on equal terms with him cause she didn't have a dream.
** [[spoiler:After she goes through her FreakOut and snaps at Augustine that there is ''no way'' she can be hopeful after seeing what Sara unleashed, which culminates into his black/white view of the world to shatter and he ends up becoming cynical in order to be saved, she asks if this is all her fault. Everyone reassures her that it's not, as it's more a combination of what Augustine has been hiding and Sara's machinations.]]
* KarmaHoudini: Despite her verbal lashing at Professor Sycamore nearly causing [[spoiler: the end of the world by the professor's hand]], she doesn't really face any consequences beyond a stern lecture from Auric. Even Sycamore, who has the right to at least be a bit angry at her, immediately forgives her for it.
* KidHero: She's only ten and she's the heroic leader of the Red Lotus Trio/Uprising.
* TheLeader: The leader of the Red Lotus Trio/Uprising, much to Sycamore's shock. She's not afraid to confront villains or speak her ground (Headstrong) and she is a beloved idol on the Infinity Train because of her going up against the Apex and later dismantling the Cage of Flauros (Charismatic).
* LeeroyJenkins: In The Boutique Street Car, she tries to tackle Indigo and ends up turning into her Marchosias form, nearly causing a fire. Subverted in that attacking Indigo was intentional, but turning into Marchosias ''wasn't''.
* LightFireJuxtaposition: She's the Fire to Augustine's Light. While she's the young female flame that rushes through, Augustine is the older mature light. Moreover Chloe got her powers from a demon whereas Augustine's Persona is based on ''St.'' Joan.
* LightningFireJuxtaposition: She's the Fire to Specter's Lightning during the Cyan Desert Car. She wields the Cloak of Marchosias and is a hot-blooded FieryRedhead. Specter is fused to a lighthing bolt and is calm, sometimes stoic and good at reading minds.
* LongList: Gives a list of all the bullying she's gone through to Augustine and Asher while in the Ninjala Car. It's quite a doozy.
->'''Chloe:''' I’ve had my opinions shot down with a ‘Nobody cares’, I’ve had my works thrown into the trash and lunches dumped on it, I had my shoes thrown to the side when I got out of the library, my classmates talking over me when I wanted to speak, boys were touching my hair and taking my hair scrunchie off, sometimes they would blow on the back of my head in a choir, every time I tried to leave my backpack on a table for reservations, they’d toss it into the mud and then take over my place while I went to retrieve it, in PE when we played tag the boys pushed me too hard and the female coach called it roughhousing and let them go, all the girls looked down at me and called me ugly, weak, scary, oh when I wasn’t smiling, they were like 'Normal people want pretty, not disgusting.' They always told me that ‘No-Show’ Goh only would come to school if I dressed up like Mew and that he loves Pokémon more than life itself. And of course, there was the talent show when they dumped red paint on me after my performance…
* MagicalGirlWarrior: Chloe ticks up a lot of boxes for a magical girl although there is no TransformationSequence. She doesn't get a special uniform, outside her Cloak of Marchosias, and her main weapon is a rusty old pipe that is powerful because she's a softball enthusiast. She also is learning to become her own person through the trials of the Infinity Train. The Ninjala Car's Mirage Army event has her at her magical girl best when she [[spoiler:taps into the true power of the cloak to convert every single member of Yung's army into full-blown denizens.]]
* MentorsNewHope: She was ''supposed'' to be this to Sycamore, acting like a second apprentice that would allow the professor to feel like he can actually do something right after the failure that was Alain. Unfortunately, her verbal lashing at him near the end of the Cyan Desert Car instead turns her into a HopeCrusher for him, acting as the impetus that [[spoiler: nearly causes the poor professor to either destroy or RestartTheWorld.]]
* MirrorCharacter: To Aoi Zaisen. Their alias are different -- Aoi goes by Blue Angel/Girl/Maiden, Chloe goes by Chloe/Demon Lord of the Vermillion -- and they are also withdrawn females with a male in their lives who can be overprotective but well-meaning. Aoi is characterized with fairies (her Trickstars are Fairy-type monsters) while Chloe has a love of demons. While Aoi has a closeness to Yusaku in a ShipTease way, Chloe sees Augustine as a teacher (bonus points as both Yusaku and Augustine are voiced by the same person in the dub). And when it comes to Specter, Aoi does ''not'' have good memories of him while Chloe sees him more in a neutral light (as she doesn't know him personally).
* MissingChild: She's one of these by the time ''Seeker of Crocus'' starts, two months after her initial disapperanace, and is nicknamed "Gone Girl" of Vermillion City. Not like she notices, or cares, given everything Vermillion City gave her...well, until her mother reveals what's going on.
* MissingWhiteWomanSyndrome: [[DownplayedTrope Downplayed]] compared to ''Blossoming Trail'', but still very much present. Chloe going missing still brings a lot of attention to it, but people quickly find other things to worry about, alongside Professor Sycamore promising to keep her safe giving them a slight sense of relief. However, the narrative ''still'' points to her whenever people pay attention to something else, like when the Alolan students ask Professor Sycamore if he's okay when they meet him at the Alolan conference before Goh calls them out for just casually ignoring Chloe.
* MisplacedRetribution: PlayedForDrama. [[spoiler: She's utterly furious at Sara for everything that's happening back at home due to her use of the Unown, but she can't punish her since they're literally ''dimensions apart''. As a result, she snaps and yells at ''Sycamore'' instead, causing the Professor to crack like an egg and go insane.]]
* MoreDeadlyThanTheMale: When it comes to the three "leads" of the heroes -- she, Augustine/Asher and Specter/Easter -- she's ''easily'' the most battle ready and dangerous. Case in point: the penultimate chapter of The Cyan Desert Car has her fight her bully Sara [[spoiler:who is empowered by the Unown at this point]], she's the one who goes into town while Asher and Specter would rather watch in the sidelines than aid her.
* [[MrViceGuy Ms. Vice Girl]]: She shows signs of envy initially -- over seeing how Ash and Goh are privileged to get everything they want, like freedom to travel -- and her most signature sin is wrath due to having bottled up her emotions for years. But that does ''not'' mean she is evil or bad at all and is capable of realizing she's made mistakes when called out on it.
* MyGodYouAreSerious: After hearing everything that got Chloe on the train in the first place, Augustine vows that he will stick by her side to stop the Apex and help her develop. And if he fails, he will literally swallow a thousand needles. The fact that he's stating this without hesitation is what makes Chloe finally start trusting him after so long.
* MythologyGag: Her Belial outfit -- consisting of a black small top hat, suit jacket and skirt/slacks combo -- looks either like a masculine version of [[Fanfic/InfinityTrainBlossomingTrail UnChloe's attire]] of a LittleBlackDress and CoolCrown or the black Alice Liddel inspired outfit of her ''Fanfic/InfinityTrainBoilingPoint'' self.
[[/folder]]
[[folder:N-Y]]
* NeverASelfMadeWoman: Chloe discusses this trope with Goh in their phone call, as she has learned from school and home that the only way she will ever be of any importance is if she is like him,[[note]]Who loves Pokémon than life itself and can't keep a promise to save his life.[[/note]], Ash[[note]]A beloved champion and Pokémon master[[/note]] or her father[[note]]Who has a job involving research with Pokémon and all her classmates ask her "Are you going to be like him?"[[/note]]. Goh quickly tells her that is absolutely unfair.
* NeverBeHurtAgain: Chloe's deepest wish is to be strong enough to avoid being afraid for her life and the fears of being bullied and almost takes up [[spoiler:Dr. Yung's offer to have a Mirage Pokémon]] had it not been for Augustine, Asher and her father convincing her not to. To her, it feels like she's on her back with numerous feet pressed on her neck and finding it hard to breathe.
* NiceHat: Her Belial outfit has a small top hat attached to a headband decorated with a queen chess piece and a demonic seal of Belial.
* NightmareFetishist: She ''loves'' horror which can range from a collection of kid horror shows, to researching demons to ''wanting to play Silent Hill''. Apparently she's the only one in her class who is capable of playing ''VideoGame/CarnEvil'' with the Junior boss whereas Yuri and Sophocles can't even go through just Deaddy.
* NoJustNoReaction: When Chloe cycles for Ars Goetia princes for Lexi to transform into, she reacts this way upon looking at Stolas.
* NoMoreHoldingBackSpeech: After things hit the fan in the Cyan Desert Car, it takes a talk from Specter to tell her that her angsting about what's going on will ''not'' improve the situation in the slightest. This has her wipe the tears out of her eyes and have her get ready to go to war.
* NoOneCouldSurviveThat: In the Ninjala Car, [[spoiler:she takes the attacks of numerous Mirage Pokémon ''point blank'' in a blatant kamikaze attack and lives because her Cloak absorbed everything.]]
* NotAfraidOfYouAnymore: She states this directly to Sara in the penultimate chapter of the Cyan Desert Car and even admits that it was stupid to be afraid of her bully for so long.
* PassionateSportsGirl: She loves softball and once tried to get her dad to take her to a softball camp that was being hosted by her favorite team.
* PerformanceAnxiety: Zigzagged; she's not afraid to perform on the Train, but when she has to be face-to-face in a conference, she shrinks and finds herself uanble to say anything. Albeit this is justified due to how the conference involved the Alola gang because 1) they're the same group of friends who saw Ash as the great Alola League Chamipon and 2) they already showed how insensitive they were for dogpiling on Professor Sycamore and completely ignoring how much ''Chloe'' has gone through (as she's been on the Train for a few months).
* PersonalityPowers: The Cloak of Marchosias and Wepwawet was almost tailored just for her.
** A girl with a fiery personality definitely needs the firepower to go with it.
** She is shown to have a kind heart filled with pity for others, wishing to help them like how she wanted help of her own or at least have ''someone'' notice her problems. Her cloak allows her to see into someone's soul and figure out the root of their problems [[spoiler:and she was able to convert the mirage army into denizen thanks to her desire to free them from Dr. Yung.]]
* PersonOfMassDestruction: When she unlocks the ability to transform into Marchosias, the first thing she does with it is ''destroy half of an army with her Flamethrower''.
* PipePain: Her WeaponOfChoice is a rusty L-bend steel pipe -- or "donut holer", aka something you punch stuff into to turn into donuts -- gifted to her by Randall through Atticus which she names Cheshire.
* PlayingWithFire: She has the Cloak of Marchosias and Wepwawet on her, which gives her the ability to cast fire.
* PluckyGirl: Like most variations of her in the ''Blossomverse'', she does her best to be optimistic and determined despite the DeathWorld she's currently trapped in.
* PoorCommunicationKills: A lot of her problems at home could've been solved if she was willing to talk about it, ranging from asking someone in the Institue to hear her out or just let her go somewhere. Even asking Ash to just stop asking her to go do Pokémon stuff and bring up her own suggestions or ''finally'' putting her foot down and tell Goh to stop breaking his promise could've been done, no questions asked if she said something. After Goh breaks it down to her that she is also at fault for her mistakes, Chloe agrees and states that the reason that she couldn't speak up is because she felt that everyone ''else'' either pushed her down, ignored her, spoke over her, or she felt terrified of being hurt again before ultimately deciding to be more open about her problems.
* PowerfulAndHelpless: Despite her ridiculously OP artifacts and skills, [[spoiler: she's left unable to console the broken Professor Sycamore in his place, and is nearly ForcedToWatch as he either kills everyone or restarts the world before Auric interferes. She also couldn't stop Sara from her Unown rampage -- albeit more cause she's ''dimensions apart'' -- nor could she stop her dad from being pulled onto the Infinity Train]]
* PowerIncontinence: When she tries to attack Indigo in the Boutique Street Car, she somehow turns into her wolf form by mistake. Chloe is unsure how that happened. When asked of this by Anubis, he states that she'll have to go to Wepwawet (his brother and the one who created the cloak) for more answers.
* ThePowerOfLove: It is her love of Yamper that lets her turn into a real flaming wolf in the Ninjala Car and unleash a Flamethrower that destroys a Hyper-Beam touting Mirage Yamper ''and half of an army along with it''. Later [[spoiler:she assumes that her feelings of wanting to see Yamper again as she was about to die by the Mirage Army might have been the catalyst of freeing the Mirage Army from Dr. Yung's control. Wepwawet confirms this at the end of Act 1; she gave the mirage army another way to live through love and bonds.]]
* PrivilegedRival: Subverted. She's seen as this to her classmates, living in a nice two-story house and her father has that nice Pokémon Institute. But this is coming from [[RichBitch Sara]] -- who lives in a high-class ''apartment'' -- and is presumably one of the many twisted lies she used to get the classmates on her side.
* ThePromise: Once she and Goh apologize to one another, they promise to work together in order to be friends again. She later promises to help Augustine get to the Fog Car to save Alain.
* QuirkyGirlQuirkyTux: Her Belial inspired outfit gives her a suit jacket -- and she also wears a skirt with leggings -- and she's a plucky girl who loves nightmarish things.
* RedAndBlackAndEvilAllOver: Inverted. She has maroon hair, a red cloak based off a wolf, her last outfit for Act 1 gives her plenty of black and her new moniker is ''Demon Lord of the Vermillion''. But she's also a kind-hearted, heroic girl that hopes to stop the Apex threat.
* RedBaron: Chloe of the Vermillion, named off how she introduced herself to Atticus as heralding from Vermillion City. She also adds "Flame of the Rebellion" and "Demon Lord of the Vermillion" in the Ninjala Car.
* RedIsViolent: Give her a chance to fight and she will unleash hell. She and Sara get into a brutal baseball bat vs donut holer fight in the penultimate chapter of the Cyan Desert Car arc while screaming at each other's faces and spewing insults to the point neither Specter nor [=UnSycamore=] [[spoiler:aka ''Asher'']] want to aid her.
* ReplacementGoldfish: The reasons why Augustine is so adamant to help Chloe is because, deep down, he feels like it's his chance to do things right in regards to what happened with Alain. [[spoiler:This does ''not'' do wonders to his sanity when she not only refused to calm down with his hope but she also acccepted ''Specter's'' encouragement to stop crying and put her bully in her place.]]
* RuleOfSymbolism: Her favorite demon is Marchosias, who wishes to return to heaven but has been deceived in that hope, reflecting how she is afraid to hope and have faith. Only when Augustine and her father reassure her that her loved ones will improve and love her as she is, does she regain her faith and ascends [[spoiler:by unlocking a new power for her own to transform into Marchosias.]]
* TheRunaway: She ran away from the Cerise Lab after being humiliated in a battle against Ash and landed on the Infinity Train. By the time the story starts, she's been missing for two months.
* RunningGag:
** Whenever Chloe brings up her knowledge of demons, someone questions if she's going to become an occultist.
** If there's ever a chance that the heroes can make a performance, not only does Chloe go on board with it, but the reactions from the denizens are to rave about it like she's an idol singer.
** PlayedForDrama in regards of her trying to use one of her artifacs -- either her cloak or halo -- in an attempt to cut the knot. Everyone keeps telling her not to do it, to the point that [[spoiler:by the time her father gets on the Train]] she becomes disillusioned that ''no one'' wants her to actually be of use.
* SavvyGuyEnergeticGirl: When teamed with Yuri. Yuri is a snarky kid who knows story beats and tropes from playing too many video games while Chloe is the excited girl who is ready to race through the cars.
* SelfInflictedHell: Same as in canon, though nowhere near as spiteful about it; a good deal of her issues comes from the fact she chose to stand completely still and not even try to get out of her current situation. Another major change in canon is that she's ''aware'' of these mistakes earlier on and works on being able to vocalize what she ''truly'' wants.
* SecretlySelfish: Admits that she's no better than Sara at some points in what she wanted when Goh calls her in the Ninjala Car.
-->"That was all I wanted...no, that’s not true. I wanted it to happen on ''my'' terms. Goetia, it all sounds so selfish now, like Sara. I wanted ice cream, curry, to join a school club, be free...and I never thought to ask for them."
* ShanaClone: Combines this with StockLightNovelCalamityPrincess and StockShoujoHeroine below. She has a {{Tsundere}} streak, initially starts with long red hair before cutting it short to ScrewDestiny, has a thing for dresses (with her most current outfit definitely fitting ElegantGothicLolita), has a bit of a temper and initially had a problem explaining most of her problems. The one thing that she does not have is the LoveInterest as she makes it clear to Augustine that she ''does not'' crush on him (and also justified as he's 30 and she's a third of his age). Other traits includes stating Augustine by his first name and is known to have a thing for sweets -- chocolate in particular -- she is considered "privileged" for having a Pokémon Professor for a father and her Cloak of Marchosias and Wepwawet gives her insane amounts of firepower.
* SignificantWardrobeShift: She ditches her dress for a purple hakama in the Ninjala Car to better fit the setting and then ditches that to look similar to Furfur -- a demon deer with wings -- since it relates to her insult of Henry and calling him Mr. Sir Henry "Mother-of-Furfur". Moreover, the Furfur outfit includes leggings and boots, making it much more practical for the journey on the Train. Finally, in the Boutique Street Car, she dresses up in a suit, skirt and top hat combo for a Belial inspired outfit (which Yuri assumes [[Manga/AngelSanctuary it was inspired by a manga]]) as she finally embraces herself as a girl who loves the macabre.
* SpoiledBrat: What she boils down to upon further inspection, though she's definitely a saint compared to her canon self. Chloe's issues can be basically summarized as being angry because people don't pay attention to her, but she ignores the fact she has a roof under her head, parents who are present if a bit oblivious, and people who'd be willing to listen to her if she actually spoke up. Compare this to her classmates, most of who do not have and ''will never'' have good parents and had shaky prospects for the future even before they were systematically destroyed for bullying Chloe.
* SpotlightStealingSquad: Despite being allegedly just a SupportingProtagonist this time around, a good deal of Act 1 still focuses heavily on her and her development, with the final confrontation of Act 1 even being a fight between Chloe and her long time bully Sara. However, this trope gets [[DeconstructedtTrope deconstructed]] pretty harshly, since not only does she get the brunt of both good ''and'' bad attention, but [[spoiler: Professor Sycamore neglects his own problems in order to focus on ''her'' growth and quest to stop the Flauros, causing him to become more and more fragile as the story goes on until he cracks when she rejects him.]]
* StepfordSmiler: There are hints that most of her positive attitude at the end of The Twisted Lab Car is to hide her insecurities, mainly in wanting to return back home to be caged into a role she doesn't want. This is especially noticable at the end of the Cyan Desert Car [[spoiler:as she knows that her dad's about to be Train-bound and she's focusing more on Augustine performing for the crowd than the inevitability that her dad's a broken shell of a man that needs the Train's help.]]
* StockLightNovelCalamityPrincess: To contrast Augustine's light-novel everyman hero, Chloe ticks numerous checkboxes for the trope: a plucky attitude related to her issues of being "privileged", fiery red hair and personality, has the power to unleash a blast of fire that ''destroys half an army'', and has the badass title of "Chloe/Demon Lord of the Vermillion" that plays with her signature color being red. However she is no LoveInterest to Augustine (she states that she doesn't crush on him and she has had one date with Tony Clark) and calling her a princess is the fastest way for you to be pummeled to death with her donut holer (although she does have an apocalyptic title in Lady Destiny for the Cage of Flauros).
* StockShoujoHeroine: Zigzagged. Back at her world she's just a normal girl who has no idea who she wants to be (especially since she's 10, when kids are allowed to become Pokémon trainers but her classmates have made her insecure about what she truly likes). She is shown to be a romantic (as she squees at the idea of Ryan/Min-Gi being a couple) and even has a date with Tony but the closest ties she has are in regards to her father, ChildhoodFriend and ParentalSubstitute Augustine. On the Infinity Train, she's more proactive and willing to charge first into battle even though she still carries the AllLovingHeroine side to her that most girls who fit this trope use.
* StoryBreakerPower: Chloe's cloak is much more powerful here due to it actually being empowered with the strength of the deity and demon it's named from. It's capable of absorbing a barrage of Mirage Pokémon attacks, ''convert'' the same mirage Pokémon into denizens and she can see into the soul of a person ''outside of the Train''. In the Elephant Teapot Car, both Yuri and Amelia ban her from using the last skill since something that powerful ''has'' to have a drawback (outside the ItOnlyWorksOnce factor and Wepwawet refuses to budge on that one) and she has to be dragged to the hot springs so she doesn't use it in the upcoming conference call with Specter. Chloe also internally admits in the Boutique Street Car chapter that it's best not to use any of the skills outside casting fire until they learn more about its origins. Later attempts are usually witheld by other people and the one time she tries it on Kaito [[spoiler:who is in his "Enlightened" state]], there's a mental barrier that knocks her on her back.
* StrongGirlSmartGuy: When paired with a male like Augustine, Yuri, Specter or Lexi, she's usually the powerhouse that barrels her way through any and all problems.
* SupportingProtagonist: The author notes reveal that this is her role in the fanfic as the main focus is on Sycamore's quest to save Alain and his birth to becoming a true hero.
* TalkingTheMonsterToDeath: [[spoiler: After her Cloak of Marchosias refuses to work on Sycamore's corrupted self, Chloe's reduced to begging the professor to come back and calm down, even apologizing for her earlier behavior. Unfortunately, seeing as Chloe running her mouth on him is one of the reasons ''why'' he went nuts in the first place, the professor isn't in the best state to listen to her.]]
* ThereAreNoTherapists: There actually ''are'', except her father has decided to give self-therapy to his daughter instead of running this by with a professional. Needless to say, that was the ''wrong'' decision to take.
* TiredOfRunning: As she's being chased by the Mirage Pokémon army in the Ninjala Car, she realizes how she's always running away to escape her pain and decides to stand her ground even if it kills her.
* TookALevelInCheerfulness: Augustine's influence has her become much more positive and optimistic, willing to try out new things without being ashamed of herself.
* TookALevelInKindness: Augustine's support, not to mention Goh helping her realize how she was also at fault for her own problems, helps her open her heart up to others and be a more mature version of herself.
* [[UngratefulBastard Ungrateful Bitch]]: Despite Professor Sycamore having done much more to help her with her issues than anybody back at Vermillion City, [[spoiler: she readily uses him as an emotional punching bag to take out her frustrations regarding the Sara situation, going so hard that the professor ''breaks'' and nearly ''ends the world''. While she does realize what her anger has done, it's too late.]]
* UnlimitedWardrobe: Chloe loves changing her outfits all the time depending on her mood.
* UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom: [[spoiler: She nearly causes ''the end of the world'' by snapping at Professor Sycamore so hard he breaks and then accepting Specter's DareToBeBadass, and thus concludes he only has two choices: kill everyone, or RestartTheWorld so it stops being so pessimistic. Thank One-One for Auric!]]
* WeakWilled: It's not commented upon, but it doesn't take long to see that Chloe's like a diamond: she's tough to crack, but once you do, she falls apart pretty easily. [[spoiler: Dr. Yung]] nearly gets her to give up all hope with just a select few words, and [[spoiler: learning about the Unown situation causes her to be completely enveloped in rage, taking it all out on Professor Sycamore in the process.]]
* WonderfulWerewolf: As she's based on Robin and Mebh from ''Wolfwalkers'', this is a given. She can turn into a wolf with gryphon wings which later evolves into [[spoiler:letting her ''soul'' turn into a wolf and can bite someone turn them into a lycan after some time.]]
* YaoiFangirl: A throwaway comment in narration states that she ships boys, but does not see Henry Townsend and Water Sullivan in that light. She squees in excitement upon learning that Ryan and Min-Gi tied the knot.
* YouKeepUsingThatWord: Just like in the original trilogy, she insists on calling what was happening to her at the Cerise Institute as her being "caged" despite there being plenty of reason to believe otherwise. This, too, eventually begins phasing out.
