* ItsAllMyFault: She seems to blame herself for Lene [[spoiler:committing treason and assisting in the plot to kill the nobles]], because she told Lene to shut up when the latter expressed sympathy for the commoners. Claire feels as though if she had been more understanding, then Lene might have been able to turn to her for help, averting the problem.

The Orso siblings are children of the wealthy Orso Mercentile Company. Whilst they are commoners, their family makes more money than most noble houses do. Lene is Claire's beloved maid and trusted confidant, working for the François family to gain their favour. Meanwhile, Lambert is a trusted member of the Student Council.

* AdaptationalVillainy: In the manga, [[spoiler:Lene shows up with a knife pointed at Claire's throat in an attempt to force Rei to stand down. In the novel, she was accompanied by two people, one of whom was holding Claire at knifepoint, who were willing to kill Lene if Lambert backed out of the plan.]] The change makes Lene seem more ruthless and less reluctant about [[spoiler:her participation in the plot to kill the nobles.]]

* IveComeTooFar: Lambert apologizes to Claire, saying he's come too far to turn back, before he [[spoiler:rings the bell to summon a chimera]].

* ParentalSubstitute: Whilst Claire views Lene as an older sister, it's clear that Lene fills a motherly role in Claire's life, providing her with advice and scolding her for not eating her vegetables.

No, that was Claire's pride as a noble and refusal to abandon her father. Rei got Claire to loosen up on her caste based mindset and see things from other people's perspectives, but she never adopted Dor's mindset.

* JerkassToOne: She tends to be significantly ruder to Rod than any other member of the cast [[HypocriticalHumor he's rather pushy]] even though he's never anything but nice to her, which he laughs off. She also continues to treat Claire's best friends as objects rather than people.

Huh. Do we not have a 'sexy arrogance' type trope? I was going to pothole Ore-sama to that but then I couldn't think of what should go there even though it's a ridiculously common stock love interest, especially for guys.

* BitchInSheepsClothing: She looks really friendly and sweet, but she can actually be ruthlessly pragmatic and willing to eliminate or abandon she doesn't consider necessary. Claire of all people often has to step up to influence her in a better direction. She's hardly a monster, however, and does show genuine concern for characters like Yuu and Lily.

* DontYouDarePityMe: He absolutely ''despises'' anyone going easy on him. He'd rather lose with dignity after trying his best than achieve a hollow victory. This is especially poignant as Rod has been trained in chess since childhood as a foundation for military strategy, and Rei, a commoner, could not have had the same level of experience nor familiarity with the game. He is ''very'' intent on getting a rematch, though Rei refuses: that would progress his romantic arc, and she only has eyes for Claire.

There is no evidence that Manaria has any interest in Sein. The Web translation states that Manaria is aware that the Sousse court is pushing Sein as a suitor, while the official translation doesn't even go that far; it just states that the court is pushing it, without any references to Manaria's knowledge of it.

* ClosetKey: In the ending of the first novel, there are light implications that Manaria might be interested in Sein, making for an inversion as it indicates that she may be bisexual, not a lesbian.

! Beware of Unmarked Spoilers.

This is the Characters page for ''Literature/ImInLoveWithTheVillainess''. Please be aware that there are several WalkingSpoiler characters who are very difficult to discuss at length without revealing vital plot points.

[[foldercontrol]]
! The Main Characters

[[folder:In General]]
* AbhorrentAdmirer: Claire makes absolutely no secret of her disdain for Rei and her constant, open affections. This is partly from her deep-seated self-loathing issues, as she's well aware she's not a very pleasant person to be with on most days, their respective social classes and the society they live in, and the fact that homosexuality is not accepted, to say the least. She eventually reverses her stance.
* BabiesEverAfter: [[spoiler:Not biological. They adopt two girls after the events of the series.]]
* BokeAndTsukkomiRoutine: Rei and Claire's daily interactions, respectively, usually playing out as Rei complimenting or declaring her affection for Claire, and Claire... not reacting well to it. Rei even describes their interactions as such.
* ClosetKey: While Claire initially finds Rei annoying, she eventually comes to understand her better. Not only is she not as indiscriminate as Claire had assumed, but she also likes Claire for the very reasons that Claire dislikes herself. Much, much later, she actually admits she found Rei's flirting and dopiness quite cute right from the start.
* DepravedHomosexual: Invoked but averted: When Claire draws back from Rei after finding out that she's genuinely a lesbian and not just trolling, Misha scolds her for assuming anyone gay is an indiscriminate sexual predator.
* EarnYourHappyEnding: [[spoiler:At the end of the first series, Rei has successfully prevented Claire's death. They are able to live together with their new family.]]
* HappilyAdopted: [[spoiler:In the [[DistantFinale epilogue]], Rei and Claire end up adopting two little girls, Mei and Alea.]]
* HappilyMarried: Effectively. Gay marriage isn't legal in Bauer, but they're married in all but name. This relationship continues amicably into the sequel despite some hopeless attempts at flirting by new side characters.
* HiddenDepths: Both characters quickly show there is more to Claire being a haughty noble or Rei being love obsessed with Claire.
* IncompatibleOrientation: Claire is straight, but Rei is perfectly happy to be around her, serving her, intentionally annoying her, and ''especially'' being punished by her. However, after making her feelings known, she draws a very careful line in how close she gets to Claire because she's afraid of scaring her away. [[spoiler:Claire eventually warms up to her, indicating she's really a bisexual, though Rei is a little slow to catch on.]]
* SacredFirstKiss: [[spoiler:Claire gives Rei this after she decides she would rather die at the hands of the revolutionaries than abandon her family name, survive, and be with Rei.]]
* SheIsNotMyGirlfriend: For however much Rei constantly gets on Claire's nerves, it becomes ''increasingly'' clear that she feels much more alongside annoyance, confusion, and disgust for her. This is especially prominent when she angrily shouts at [[spoiler:Manaria not to "steal what is hers"--that is, Rei.]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Rei Taylor]]
Our protagonist, a former Office Lady who died of overwork and found herself reincarnated in the world of her favorite ''otome'' game, ''Revolution''. Long smitten with Claire, she does whatever she can to force a Happy Ending for the both of them.
----
* BarelyChangedDubName: Subverted - while Rei's original name was Ohashi Rei (大橋 零), her name in the world of Revolution became Rei Taylor (レイ テイラー). While the unofficial fan translation kept the same spelling of her first name as "Rei", the official translation of the light novel spells the new name as "Rae" instead, presumably in keeping with Revolution being a European fantasy setting.
* BrainyBrunette: Aside from Rei's prior knowledge of the world and how the game's major events are supposed to go, she is astoundingly cunning and clever in general, as shown in her numerous complex, long-term, and ultimately successful plans. A lighthearted example is how she [[spoiler:spends several weeks with Relaire convincing the ladies' dorm and kitchen that it's haunted, so she can con Claire into a dinner date.]] Much more seriously, [[spoiler:she has been planning to save Claire from her bad-end ever since convincing Dor François to become her maid,]] an on-going effort several months long and relying on numerous external factors and actors beyond her control.
* CassandraTruth: Rei immediately confesses to Claire she loves her only for Claire to be bewildered and dismiss it. It isn't until later she finally accepts Rei was telling her the truth.
* CombatPragmatist: Rei doesn't play fair if she doesn't strictly need to. Earth magic is noted to have an extremely effective trick that only some wind and earth users have any hope of countering: just take away someone's footing and drop them into a hole. Keep taking away the dirt and pile it up around the hole and there's no way to get out unless you can fly or control the earth yourself. Rei using this tactic against Claire is extremely effective and extremely annoying.
* DishingOutDirt: Her element alongside Water. Though primarily a tool of construction and agricultural applications, she uses clever manipulation of the battleground itself to make it ''extremely'' dangerous.
* DitzyGenius: Rei acts like an idiot, but she's at the top of the school rankings.
* DoggedNiceGirl: Subverted. Rei confesses to Claire but never expects or asks for reciprocation because she's too timid. This causes her to miss a lot of hints that Claire isn't as put off by her as she appears.
* TheGadfly: As much as she loves Claire, she ''also'' loves messing with Claire to get a rise out of her, and admire how cute she is when angry. If she verbally abuses or physically punishes her in retaliation, [[TooKinkyToTorture all the better!]]
* HappilyAdopted: Rei was originally found wandering the streets at a very young age before being adopted by her parents, the Taylors. They all love each other dearly. This ''did'' happen long before she awoke to her past life memories but Rei still treats them like family.
* HeroicBSOD: She suffers a ''terrible'' one when [[spoiler:she tries to rescue Claire from the revolutionists, only to be stopped by Claire herself. Thankfully, Manaria finds her in time and helps her stage a ''second'' rescue attempt.]]
* HugeSchoolgirl: She used to be really tall in her past life and had something of a complex over it.
* IdenticalStranger: In the sequel, it's revealed that [[spoiler:the Pope looks identical to Rei, leading to Rei act as a body double for her. As it turns out, people who have Rei/the Pope's faces are rarely born and are thought to have been blessed by the Spirit God, most of whom end up getting taken under protection by the Church. Rei notes that if she hadn't been adopted, the same likely would've happened to her.]]
* IJustWantMyBelovedToBeHappy: She has this attitude towards Claire, helping her pursue her love interest Sein, settling with just being around to enjoy her presence and anger. [[spoiler:But, when Manaria starts to actively pursue Claire, threatening to cut off all communication and interaction with Rei, Rei decides to do the same.]]
* LoveDodecahedron: When Rei's past life was in school there was a four person snarl where each person liked another but didn't return the feelings sent to them.
* MakingASplash: Her element alongside Earth.
* {{Meido}}: She blackmails Claire's father into letting her serve as another maid for Claire.
* ObfuscatingStupidity: Rei deliberately plays herself up a Claire-obsessed dope with a masochistic streak. While some of it is her actual character, it hides the fact that she's actually a very cunning person who's not afraid to use her extensive knowledge of the setting and potential future events to her advantage, and is good at playing XanatosSpeedChess when events go awry.
* ObliviousToLove: Somewhere around the early mid point of the story, Claire clearly grows attached to Rei, most likely at least partially in a romantic sense. However, Rei herself is oblivious and has toned down the flirting. She still thinks that Claire is into Sein, when by all appearances she gave up on him quite early in the story.
* SadClown: Rei acts like a stereotypical clingy, pushy gay. Emphasis on acts: she will openly acknowledge that it's a coping mechanism if asked and her actual approach to romance is notably more timid. This is largely because of how she grew up in modern, still largely homophobic Japan, and her early experiences with exploring her sexuality. She also has a great deal of difficulty being honest because she tends to bottle up her real feelings and cover it with humor.
* SplitPersonalityMerge: Much of pre-incarnation Rei's memories and behaviors dominate her current life, but Rei's parents seem to find absolutely nothing different or suspicious about their daughter's change in behavior, and Rei notes she has memories of the original Rei Taylor. [[spoiler:Misha does notice the sudden, dramatic, inexplicable change and her antics, however, and confronts about it.]]
* SpringtimeForHitler: Rei's attempts to drive Rod away by losing to him on purpose backfires, eventually leading him to propose to her, though she turns him down flat.
* TooKinkyToTorture: Rei makes absolutely no secret of how much she enjoys Claire's bullying and abuse, much to the latter's confusion and consternation. She frequently, literally even asks for it.
* TooMuchAlike: Rei dislikes Rod as he's determined, assertive, and never takes "No" for an answer, when it comes to getting what he wants the most. She displays these exact same traits, only with Claire.
* WorthyOpponent: Rod considers her one, after she almost beat him at chess, but chose to intentionally lose--something he rather despises.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Claire François]]
The deutoroganist of the story, Claire was the former romantic antagonist (the "Villainess") and is currently the main target of all of Rei's affections. Though she tries to act proper, strict, and dignified, Rei's antics unfaililngy earn her ire though that doesn't stop her from (very slowly) falling for Rei.
----
* ClingyJealousGirl: Early on, the strongest hint for Claire's growing feelings are that she seems uncomfortable and gets in the way when seeing Rei and Lene get along or similar situations. This ends up getting more obvious as time goes on.
* DeathRay: Claire's iconic spell, "Magical Ray." It is effectively a laser beam that will melt or outright disintegrate anything it hits. It is possible for Claire to control its power, however, as when she non-lethally uses it to [[spoiler:disuade Rei from trying to rescue her from the hands of the Revolutionaries.]]
* DefrostingIceQueen: Throughout the novel. She starts being the stereotypical haughty and self-centered rich girl antagonist, but through Rei's determination, unwavering devotion, and otherworlder shenanigans, she eventually becomes much nicer and sympathetic, alongside questioning some of her more negative and dangerous beliefs. Rei even happily notes the change herself, when Claire becomes [[spoiler:open to peacefully settling the commoner revolution, rather than following her father's advice of "reminding them of their place," and more importantly, starts openly showing affection to Rei and hints that she's starting to return her feelings.]]
* DoNotCallMeSir: At the end, Claire, [[spoiler:along with her adopted children]], is a bit irritable about how Rei is still calling her "Claire-sama."[[note]]"Lady" or "Mistress" Claire[[/note]] Turns out Rei's a bit embarrassed about it.
* FaceDeathWithDignity: [[spoiler:She was willing to let the Commoner Revolution execute her as a symbol of the nobility being overthrown and to prevent future political strife.]]
* HonorBeforeReason: Claire refuses to go along with quite a lot of Rei's antics due to her pride as a noble. While mostly played for comedy, it quickly veers into some serious, heartwrenching drama when [[spoiler:she chooses to die at the hands of the revolutionaries than abandon her family name for the sake of her survival, and being with Rei. Rei is only able to convince her to give up her status by making a direct and honest emotional appeal, which is something she's never been good with.]]
* InsistentTerminology: Claire's crippling fear of ghosts is not an issue if she is dealing with "undead." Her reasons being, ghosts are spirits of the departed, undead are demons, and she can slay demons.
* JerkassRealization: Durring the summer, Claire ends up visiting Rei's home and experiencing the wealth gap between the nobles and the commoners for herself. The real kicker though, [[spoiler: is when Louis, Rei's UnluckyChildhoodFriend, turns himself into an undead monster and tries to kill her, Rei and Misha because someone paid him to do so and he needed the money to pay for his ill mother's medicine]]. This event makes Claire realize just how bad poverty can be and how different the standard of living between the aristocracy and commoners really is, which inspires her to stop disregarding the commoner's demands for revolution and start learning how to resolve the poverty gap and other issues the kingdom faces.
* LethalChef: In the epilogue of the first novel, [[spoiler:Claire manages to blow up a saucepan while trying to make a crème brûlée. Apparently, that sort of disaster normally happens whenever Claire tries to cook.]]
* MissingMom: Claire's mother, who died when she was young. Her death affected her severely, as they were quite close. [[spoiler:We later learn this was a deliberate assassination attempt on the family as a whole.]]
* NoPlaceForMeThere: [[spoiler:When the Commoner Revolution is in full-swing, she willingly accepts execution by their hands, knowing that the old nobility has no place in the new government.]]
* PlayingWithFire: Fire magic is her specialty and its pure destructive power, especially when she uses Magical Ray.
* PrecociousCrush: Claire towards Manaria. The former was sent to live with the latter's family, shortly after Claire's beloved mother died and her father could not take care of her amidst his grief and regular work both. Claire admits this was mostly because Manaria comforted her during her time of grief, and she thought Manaria was a boy. For clarity, Manaria saw her as more of a little sister.
* RichBitch: She was initially this. It helps that house François' patriarch, Dor François, is the Minister of Finance.
* TheRival: She was ''supposed'' to be this, competing with Rei for the affections of one of the three princes and intended "capture targets." Instead, she's the target of Rei's affections.
* SecretKeeper: [[spoiler:Eventually she confronts Rei over her seemingly impossible knowledge of the revolutionaries and the corrupt nobility. Rei does tell her about her past life but passes off the original otome game as a "prophetic book" instead.]]
* TookALevelInKindness: She starts off as a haughty noble who gradually becomes more outwardly kind, especially to Rei.
* {{Tsundere}}: While early on she is just kind of irritable, over time she grows more dependent on Rei as one of the few people who actually like her as she is. She gets really upset when Rei [[spoiler:quits her job as her maid after losing a bet]] and feels like it's a betrayal, even if she won't admit it. Rei, for her part, ''loves'' to tease her about this by saying her dere is showing when Claire doesn't even know what that means early on. She admits much later on that she found Rei following her around to be cute.

* DontYouDarePityMe: He absolutely ''despises'' anyone going easy on him. Better lose with dignity after trying his best than a hollow victory.
* GracefulLoser: Rod asks Rei to marry him, but she doesn't consider it for a second. Claire thinks she's crazy and is genuinely offended, but Rod saw it coming and just laughs it off. He also takes Rei losing to him on purpose with good grace, recognizing that she would have beaten him if she'd actually been trying. She'd expected this [[DontYouDarePityMe to offend him]], but failed.
* HopelessSuitor: He's very interested in Rei for her incredible intelligence and skills but as she's very much a lesbian, he has absolutely no chance with her.
* IncompatibleOrientation: He is straight and the woman who has his eye, Rei, is a lesbian. He takes it with dignity befitting a prince, however.
* InsultBackfire: After Rei impresses Rod without thinking by scoring top marks on the exam, she tries to piss him off by obviously throwing a chess match against him. Contrary to her expectations, he laughs it off and only grows more interested.
* NerdsAreSexy: Rod falls for Rei because she's even smarter than he is, which he rather enjoys; despite his boisterous personality and large ego, he feels no need to put others down and likes someone who can stand on even or better footing with him.
* PlayingWithFire: He has Fire magic and largely uses it to construct small armies of flaming soldiers.
* PrinceCharming: Though all three of the capture targets are princes, as the oldest and most popular of the three among players and the public alike, Rod exemplifies this best. Rei describes him as a classic ''ore-sama'': proud, egotistical, and determined, letting nothing and no-one stop him.
* SmartPeoplePlayChess: As befitting a monarch being trained in military strategy, much of Rod's intelligence is displayed through his chess skills. This is also how he finds that Rei is not nearly as clueless and airheaded as she seems, when she loses to him in chess by ''intentionally'' making very bad decisions.
* SpringtimeForHitler: Rei's attempts to drive Rod away by losing to him on purpose backfires, eventually leading him to propose to her, though she turns him down flat.
* TooMuchAlike: Rei dislikes Rod as he's determined, assertive, and never takes "No" for an answer, when it comes to getting what he wants the most. She displays these exact same traits, only with Claire.

[[folder:Sein Bauer]]
* AlwaysSomeoneBetter: His feelings towards his older brother, Rod, and his younger half-brother, Yuu. Rei notes it was not very good for his mental health and development to be rather talented but constantly outshone by his even more talented siblings.
* DeathByChildbirth: His mother died while giving birth to him, adding to his inferiority issues.
* DubNameChange: His name is changed to "Thane" in the official light novel translation.
* BlowYouAway: His element. He primarily uses it to enhance his physical capabilities by making his body lighter and faster.
* SuccessfulSiblingSyndrome: Sein, middle child of the three princes and heirs to the country's throne. He's ''well-above'' average, but when both your older and younger brothers are at the very top, it's hard not to feel inferior.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Yuu Bauer]]

* ChildhoodFriendRomance: Eventually, with her (after a permanent change to her birth gender) and Misha.
* MakingASplash: Her element. Primarily focused on healing, though it can be used in combat in [[AnIcePerson frozen form.]]
* MamasBabyPapasMaybe: It's eventually revealed that she was actually the bastard child of late Queen Lulu and Salas Lilium, Prime Minister of the Spirit Church.
* NaughtyNuns: She becomes this alongside Misha after her gender-bending disease is permanently cured, she is disgraced from the Royal Family, and Misha follows her into the convent.
* RaisedAsTheOppositeGender: She had a twin brother who died as a baby, then her mother decided to have her infected with a gender-bender disease and raised as a prince in order to gain political power.
* {{Transgender}}: She was intentionally afflicted with a gender-bending disease as a baby. She is ''not'' happy about being forced to live and grow up as a male (largely due to her mother's wanting her to inherit the throne), and eventually makes the decision to cure herself completely in a rather convoluted, scandalous plot, and permanently live as a female.
** Rei is particularly supportive of her because when Rei was in school one of her friends was a trans man who eventually committed suicide as a result of being forced to live as the wrong gender and not receiving any recognition from his family, who considered him weak for committing suicide rather than acknowledge it was at least partially their own fault.
* WalkingSpoiler: Knowing anything about her background spoils a great deal of the last arcs of the series.

! Friends and Associates

[[folder:Misha Yule]]
* BokeAndTsukkomiRoutine: She serves as the StraightMan to Rei's numerous antics in declaring her affections and loyalty to Claire.
* BlowYouAway: Air is her element. She has a variant to give her [[MakeMeWannaShout sound magic]].
* ImpoverishedPatrician: Misha's noble house has since fallen on hard times, just after she finished kindergarten.
* NaughtyNuns: [[spoiler:She becomes this alongside Yuu after the former's gender-bending disease is permanently cured, Yuu is disgraced from the Royal Family, and Misha follows her into the convent.]]
* SecretKeeper: Having been close friends with Rei, she eventually confronts her over her drastic change in character at the beginning of the story, leading to Rei [[spoiler:spilling everything about her past life and the game world to her. Rei's knowledge of future events - specifically the Revolution - is what convinces Misha to go along with Rei's plan to cure Yuu's gender bender disease.]]
* StraightMan: She frequently, unwittingly serves this role towards Rei, pointing out how ridiculous and ill-advised most of her actions are.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Lily Lilium, Cardinal of the Spirit Church]]
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: When used as a tool for the Naa Empire's machinations, she was mind-controlled to attack her friends and the other nobles.
* ClosetKey: She both falls in love for the very first time and accepts her own sexuality because of Rei.
* MakingASplash: She (or rather, her SplitPersonality) has a variant that can reverse time.
* NaughtyNuns: Cardinal Lily Lilium of the Spirit Church is very openly romantically interested in Rei, and by the epilogue, Rei theorizes that she'll eventually return from her self-imposed exile, and ask if she can be Rei's mistress which she [[BrickJoke eventually does.]]
* ThirdPersonPerson: She talks in this manner.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Lene and Lambert Orso]]
* BrotherSisterIncest: The Naa Empire ends up blackmailing them over their illicit relationship to get them to incite a commoner rebellion. The two are eventually disgraced and exiled, but thanks to Claire and Rei both, they're strongly implied to be living well together in another country. When they come back for the finale, it's all but stated they've built a successful restaurant franchise and are now married.
* ImpoverishedPatrician: After her brother Lambert's plot to kill nobles is foiled and their illicit relationship with each other is exposed, the entire Orso family are stripped of their assets and exiled. They were to be executed but Claire and Rei intervened.
* KarmaHoudini: It's strongly implied that after their family is disgraced, stripped of their assets, and exiled to another country, Claire's fondness of Lene and Rei's intervention mean they eventually ended up living well together as lovers anyway. This is ''after'' Lambert both staged a working class revolt ''and'' attempted to commit mass murder on the aristocracy and royal family, and pretty much the entire court said nothing short of execution for treason would suffice - though in fairness, they ''were'' being blackmailed by the Naa Empire. The climax all but states they've founded a successful high-class restaurant franchise, are now married, and are even expanding back to the Bauer Kingdom, to boot.
* {{Meido}}: As part of Lene's duties as Claire's handmaid.
* SupremeChef: Lene eventually becomes this with thanks to Rei giving her numerous modern-day recipes that are of great interest to the nobility and the world at large, such as mayonnaise. After their exile, she starts a successful restaurant business with her brother/eventual husband.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Manaria Sousa]]
* TheAce: She is so far the only Quad Caster known in the entire world, with exceptionally high aptitude to boot![[note]]Most individuals only have one, and even having two is considered very uncommon.[[/note]] Thanks to her being a crown princess, she is also better mannered, more socially competent, and intelligent than Rei could ever hope to be. She isn't too pleased by it, as Manaria threatens her chances with Claire simply by existing.
* BitchInSheepsClothing: She is initially introduced as the very picture of genteel and generous nobility, until she reveals her plans to steal Claire's heart from Rei. This ultimately turns out to be an act to test Rei's character, and also, she is FAR more interested in Rei than she ever would be Claire.
* ClosetKey: In the ending of the first novel, there are light implications that Manaria might be interested in Sein, making for an inversion as it indicates that she may be bisexual, not a lesbian.
* HopelessSuitor: Even in the otome game, Manaria was in love with Rei, but since game Rei was straight there was no chance. Now that Rei is a lesbian, it's ''still'' not going to work because Rei finds her annoyingly overbearing at best.
* IncompatibleOrientation: She is an open lesbian and could actually be considered a sex offender as a result of this. She has a strong sex drive and basically molested a maid until the girl ran away, which caused a scandal.
* PutOnABus: After her arc, Manaria must return to the same kingdom that had exiled her to the Bauer Kingdom in the first place. She comes back for the grand finale, though.
* RichBitch: Though she was currently cut off from her family's fortune and connections during her time in the story, she certainly acts the part.
* TheRival: Whereas Claire was forcibly derailed from her role and turned into a the main love interest, Manaria is a straighter example as she is most ''definitely'' willing to steal Claire's heart if Rei isn't willing to step up.

! Family Members
[[folder:Dor François, Minister of Finance]]
The Minister and Finance of the Baueur Kingdom and Claire's father. He is the very picture of the strict, high and mighty, and untouchable noble but it turns out to be an act, as he is secretly supporting the
----
* FaceDeathWithDignity: He was willing to let himself be executed by the Commoner Revolution, accepting that the nobility cannot exist within the new government.
* GoodAllAlong: You'd think that he would be the picture of being the BigBad, but he has actually been supporting the revolutionaries all this time, to put an end to the scheming and murder of the aristocracy.
* HeelFaceTurn: After his wife was killed in an assasination attempt and he and his daughter barely escaped with their lives, he finally realizes just how much atrocity the nobility system of Bauer causes.
* NoPlaceForMeThere: Dor François has been supporting the commoner revolution for ''years'', well-aware and accepting of the fact that as one of the most important nobles, he will inevitably be executed as an example.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Salas Lilium, Prime Minister of the Spirit Church]]
* MakingASplash: He has a variant that gives him MindManipulation.
* ManipulativeBastard: He is fond of using his powers for his political machinations.
