He outclasses everyone else in the setting due to his Nen ability (which requires both absurd amounts of concentration as well as physical skill) that he finds himself somewhat bored with life as he is unable to defeat an opponent of his skill. When he fights Meruem, he's happy he can finally fight an opponent to his fullest.

* LightningBruiser: While Netero's strength is immense, his most fearsome asset is his ludicrous speed. He [[CharlesAtlasSuperpower learned]] to punch faster than sound as well as perform the prayer motion which controls the 100-Type Guanyin Bodhisattva, making his attacks effectively impossible to dodge, which blindsided not only Neferpitou but even Meruem, who was otherwise stronger in most aspects but still could not keep up with Netero's insane speed so he opted to bear the brunt of his strikes while waiting for him to inevitably slip up.

He ultimately doesn't win, but because he happened to be somewhere else when Hisoka and Illumi attacked Teradein's base of operations, he lived through the attack.
