\n* SurprisinglySuddenDeath: [[spoiler: The mission where he dies has absolutely no foreshadowing and is just playing out as a strategizing mission where you may have to choose between his strategy or Braham's. If you're quick to look you may have just enough time to see the crosshair appear over his head before Ryland snipes him right between the eyes, killing him instantly in a game where [=NPCs=] usually live at least long enough to get some last words out.]]

The most kind words anyone has for him is Effram who was thankful he gave Flame a second chance, but besides that the more immediate worry regarding his death is that their war effort is now leaderless.]]

Added DiffLines:

* TookALevelInJerkass: In Icebrood Saga, he goes from a ReasonableAuthorityFigure to a hot-headed and unpleasant person who thinks the best way to stop Bangar's coup involves throwing bodies and war machines at it until they wear them down, openly executes defectors in full view of the entire camp, and is constantly talking down even to his own allies. [[spoiler: Eventually he tricks the Flame Legion into making a searing crystal to use on the Dominion and kills a hostage during a parley... and that last one gets him a rifle shell through the skull soon after.]]

!!Bhuer Goreblade
Tribune of the Iron Legion.
----
* DaChief: Leads the Adamant Guard, the police force of the Black Citadel.
* FourStarBadass: As a tribune, he is second only to an imperator.
* GeniusSlob: He is a very smart inventor, but is so disorganized that he needs his aide-de-camp Erracus the Wise to sort his stuff. The two have occasional dialog with Bhuer asking where his screwdriver is with Erracus responding in a [[DeadpanSnarker deadpan]] tone.

!!Malice Swordshadow
Imperator of the Ash Legion.
----
* CloakAndDagger: The specialty of the Ash Legion, but she's particularly good at it.
* DeadpanSnarker: Particularly directed towards Smodur and Bangar, though Rytlock and even the Commander get a few jabs sent their way, too.
* TheGhost: For seven years until her debut in the Bound by Blood prologue for the Icebrood Saga, she was mentioned but not seen.
* TheSpymaster

!!Smodur the Unflinching
Imperator of the Iron Legion and de-facto ruler of the Black Citadel.
----
* AbortedArc / WhatHappenedToTheMouse: He sends your charr character a mail that he'll keep observing your progress... yet it's Rytlock who keeps tabs on your character.
* HeWhoFightsMonsters: Eventually falls to this due to Bangar's attempt at a coup. He [[spoiler: uses a ''Searing crystal'' against the Dominionists and kills Ryland's captured second in command during a parley attempt]], actions no one would have expected of him before. [[spoiler: This gets him killed by Ryland.]]
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: In the second season of the Living Story, he is the racial leader who takes the least amount of convincing to attend the summit and has the most valid reason to be hesitant (a direct and persistent threat to his lands). Even when the attempt to solve the issue fails he goes with his word, while being supportive of Rox. Unfortunately, he quickly loses this quality when Bangar kicks off a civil war.

!!Efram Greetsglory
Recognized Imperator of the new Flame Legion
----
* AFatherToHisMen: Well aware of the precarious position his people are in due to the actions of former generations of Flame Legion and very protective, especially of the cubs.
* AnIcePerson / ShockAndAwe / DishingOutDirt: Unlike nearly every other member of the Flame Legion who's appeared in the game, Efram is a full-attunement elementalist and can throw more than fire.
* TheAtoner: For the Flame Legion as a whole. Desperately wants to make amends for the cruelty and maliciousness displayed by the shamans of the past.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Is gentle, accommodating, and effusive, unless you harm those under his watch. Takes the Commander to task when he thinks they've been hiding a threat to his people from him, [[spoiler: and drops his good nature entirely to threaten Smodur on learning the latter tricked his shamans into helping make a Searing crystal.]]
* TimeToStepUpCommander: After Gaheron's (permanent) demise, the Flame Legion fell into total disarray. With starvation and being annihilated by the other legions a distinct possibility, Efram's the one who took on the role of making sure his people survive. Not everyone has accepted this, but he's gaining ground with both the United Legions and the scattered Flame enclaves by the end of Icebrood Saga.

!!Lightbringer Tybalt Leftpaw

!!Galina Edgecrusher and Snarl Backdraft
A duo you encounter as an Iron Legion character, and an option you're given to recruit during one of the Vigil order missions.
----
* AwLookTheyReallyDoLoveEachOther: And they won't even admit it.
* InterserviceRivalry: Half the reason they're always butting heads is because they're from different Legions, and are always getting pitted against - or with - each other.
* RedOniBlueOni: Galina and Snarl, respectively. She's a hotheaded Blood Legion soldier who prefers taking the direct approach, while he's a more meticulous agent of the Ash Legion.
* SlapSlapKiss: Pretty much sums up their entire relationship.

!!Gaheron Baelfire
The Imperator of the Flame Legion, worshipped by the Flame Legion as a god. He is fought in the Citadel of Flame story path as the last boss, and once again in one of the explorable paths.
----
* BackFromTheDead: Defied -- you prevent this from happening in one of the explorable paths of Citadel of Flame.
* BadBoss: He have no qualms sending groups of his own men to their deaths just to try to kill one person.
* GodhoodSeeker: He tried to become one.
* HoistByHisOwnPetard: To defeat him, you need to throw molten hearts at him, which are dropped on the ground when his lava rocks hit Logan's shield.
* KilledOffForReal: At the end of Citadel of Flame.
* MagmaMan: While in his ascended form, although closer inspections shows that it may merely just be a shield for his regular form.
* PlayingWithFire: Very good at fire magic, especially in his ascended form.

!!Evon Gnashblade
The owner of the Black Lion Trading Company, and a highly successful businessman.
----
* AscendedExtra: At launch, he was just an NPC who served as flavor for Lion's Arch, and who otherwise played no role in the personal story. His background and character were expanded upon in the Living Story.
* TheRival: To Ellen Kiel, ever since the two competed for a seat on the Captain's Council.
* SoreLoser: He remains bitter for months after losing the election. Goes as far as to use Scarlet's attack on Lion's Arch [[CassandraDidIt as an excuse to drag Ellen's name through the mud.]]

!Personal-story only

!!Clement Forktail
The Charr player's sire if they picked the "Sorcerous Shaman" background.
----
* TheAtoner

!!Your Original Warband
The group of Charr you live, work, and fight with. Only one of them will survive the starting mission; your best friend and sparring partner, who you choose in character creation from the first five.
----
* ForWantOfANail: Who lives and who dies is completely up to you.
* TheLancer: The survivor will become this to the PC, eventually becoming the warband's new Legionnaire when the player, at the rank of Centurion, is detached to join one of the Orders.

!!Maverick
A cocky young Charr, described by the hero as the best single combat fighter they've ever known.
----
* BoisterousBruiser
* InformedAbility: Constantly boasts about his prowess, even though his actual performance as an ally leaves little to be desired.

!!Euryale
The group's Elementalist, described as the most loyal soldier in the warband. Foul tempered, stubborn, and honest.

!!Clawspur
The group's Thief.
----
* CombatPragmatist
* TheQuietOne

!!Dinky
The group's Guardian, and grunt of the farhar.
----
* TheBigGuy: Despite the fact that he was formerly the runt of his litter.
* DumbMuscle

!!Reeva
The group's Engineer, described as a fun-loving jokester.
----
* FunPersonified: Well, by Charr standards, at the very least.

!!Howl the Brazen
Lieutenant of your warband (Legionnaire in the Ash Legion origin story), who dies in the collapse of Barradin's crypt. [[spoiler: Later resurrected by a necromancer, providing you with motivation to work with the Orders.]]
----
* ChekhovsGun: Your surviving warband mate will mention Howl had a certain magical trinket with him when he died. [[spoiler: It was the necromancer's amulet that eventually raises him from his grave.]]

!!Legionnaire Urvan Steelbane
Legionnaire of your warband for Blood Legion Charr.
----
* DirtyCoward: Treats you like crap and is always talking about putting you in your place, but when you start proving your worth in the arena so that you can take over as Legionnaire while also impressing Brimstone, his boss, in the process, he visibly panics at the thought of fighting you and will beg for his life when he's defeated.
* KlingonPromotion: It remains to be seen if this is how he earned the position, but pretty early on ''you'' can pull this on him. All you really have to do is defeat him, though Rytlock expressly tells you it's up to you if you want to kill him or spare him.
* NeverMyFault: Tries to blame the deaths of most of your warband on you and your "showboating", rather than his own poor leadership skills.
* ScapeGoat: Tries to turn you into one.
