A DirtyCop in Liberty City with connections to the Yakuza, the Leone Family, and Phil Cassidy. He needs Claude's help in avoiding being arrested for the numerous crimes he's committed both against the people of Liberty City as well as the United States at large.

* AudienceSurrogate: According to WordOfGod, the reason why Claude had no name, voice or any real character is because he was designed to be just an avatar for the player, and thus the player would project themselves onto him. Notably, Claude didn't get his name canonized until ''VideoGame/GrandTheftAutoSanAndreas'', and even that's considered a case of AscendedFanon;"Claude" started out as a FanNickname due to his resemblance to "Claude Speed'' of ''VideoGame/GrandTheftAutoII'' - with some believing them the same character.

* TheSociopath: Claude is easily the GTA protagonist who best fits the criteria for anti-social personality disorder. The guy absolutely lacks remorse, guilt, or empathy; leads a life of crime very willingly, [[ChronicBackstabbingDisorder betrays and kills his former allies as if he had no conscience]], and ultimately seems to lead a life of crime simply for the money he earns from killing others, as well as seeking revenge on the psychotic woman who betrayed him. Even the closest thing he has to a PetTheDog moment in rescuing Maria seems to be challenged at the end. What makes Claude exceptionally sociopathic is that, unlike most GTA protagonists, he doesn't even have a FreudianExcuse or even [[TragicVillain a tragic event that motivated him to take up a life of crime]], all we know is that he was an illegal race runner and that's it, which gives us a sign that he was already leading an illegal life even before he met Catalina.

* AmbiguousDisorder: He never speaks-indeed, it's implied that he's unable to speak-and never seems to show any kind of emotion, even when he's fighting for his life.

* HotterAndSexier: In the [=PlayStation=] 2 and PC versions of ''Grand Theft Auto III'', she wore a fairly modest set of black jacket with a blouse, black slacks, and brown shoes. In the Xbox and mobile versions, she instead wears a black leather mini-jacket with a white top that shows off more of her midriff and cleavage, trimmed dark green pants with visible thong, and black shoes instead.

* DoesNotLikeMen: By her own repeated admission, she hates men. She considers them stupid, untrustworthy and [[AllMenArePerverts only able to think with their dicks]]. Her hatred is implied to stem from ParentalAbuse at the hands of her step-father and step-brother, who did things to her like feeding her stale bread while the two of them ate whatever they wanted.

* InfinityMinusOneSword: Completing all of Ray's missions takes a bit of effort, but you are rewarded with a bulletproof Patriot which can be very handy for driving through areas with heavy gun fire. It's not exactly a tank, but the off-roading capability is more agile and it's a pretty well-rounded vehicle. Just be careful to not flip it, drive it into water, or get it blown up, and remember to store it in a garage when you're done with it.

* AmbiguousDisorder: He never speaks-indeed, it's implied that he's unable to speak-and never seems to show any sort of emotion, even when he's in a dangerous situation.

* HandicappedBadass: Claude is allegedly mute, and is still able to conquer the Liberty City underworld in a very short timespan, form associations with the Yakuza and kill Catalina, who is the leader of a multinational drug cartel.

** IronicNickname: An accidental example, Maria calls Claude 'Fido' believing him to be Salvatore Leone's loyal lap/attack dog. The irony comes from fido being Latin for faithful, something Claude is not.

* MythologyGag: He's almost identical to "Claude Speed" of the ''Grand Theft Auto 2'' [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-9NtgpNg4E intro]]. While no official statement has been made, the prevailing opinion in the fandom is that he's the same.
** This would be inconsistent however, since Claude Speed was in his late twenties during ''VideoGame/GrandTheftAutoII'', which is stated to take place in 2013. This would mean that this Claude was 7 at the time ''San Andreas'' takes place, and 16 when ''GTA III'' does. There's also the fact that ''[=GTA 2=]'' takes place in the 2D Universe while ''GTA III'' takes place in the 3D Universe. Then again, some characters (mostly background characters) in ''GTA'' games tend to have counterparts in multiple universes, most notably Lazlow, who has a counterpart in the 3D and HD Universes.
** Then again, some sources say that ''[=GTA 2=]'' takes place in 1999... If it's really 1999, then Claude's 29-31 in ''III'', and his ChronicBackstabbingDisorder has been exaggerated, such as he backstabbed ''two'' Yakuza gangs thoughout his lifetime.
