* BiggerBad: He is much more powerful and malicious than Bonetail, but he hasn't received any focus outside out the prologue.

* ParentalSubstitute: Raised Darkclaw and Cherrynose and Duskstar had to leave the Nursery and take the role of Clan leader.

Leafkit's sister. A bit of a jerk, but ultimately well-meaning.

* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: She acts fairly rude to some of her Clanmates, but Leafkit mentions that she is nicer than she seems and doesn't mean any harm.
* LeaderWannabe: Hawkkit tells Leafkit that ''she'' will be the one to become Clan leader, because in their litter, she is the fastest.

!!Gustkit

Leafkit's brother. Looks like his father, but doesn't share the dream of being Clan leader which is common in his family.

* BadassBeard: Has some kind of fur beard, and he'd be a great fighter if he could control his speed.
* ButtMonkey: Can't control his speed, which leads to him often being hurt by himself and others.
* IdiotHero: He's not the brightest of the kits. One time he even thought that deathberries were good for rat bites.
* RedHerring: Suggested as a possible medicine apprentice a few times, but it is ultimately his sister Leafkit decides to become the medicine apprentice.

!!Eaglekit

One of Leafkit's friends. He has a fairly obvious crush on her. Is the son of Moorwhisker and Runningflame. Silverkit is his sister.

* DeclarationOfProtection: Promises to shred the rogues if they try to hurt Leafkit. Twice, just to be sure.
* [[GenkiGirl Genki Boy]]: He's pretty energetic and excitable.
* TheSmartGuy: Manages to become this in Chapter 9 due to his newfound obsession with the relationships between the Clans.

!!Silverkit

Another one of Leafkit's friends. Brother of Eaglekit, and daughter of Moorwhisker and Runningflame.

* EveryoneCanSeeIt: She is fully aware of her brother's crush on Leafkit.

!!Galeflight
->"You still don't understand me. As long as I can protect those precious to me, there's nothing I wouldn't sacrifice!"

The father of Leafkit, Hawkkit, and Gustkit, Galeflight is a tom who dreams of becoming [=WindClan=]'s leader and bringing peace to the Clans. He is brave and honourable to a fault, which often annoys his Clanmates.

[=WindClan=]'s medicine cat. She went from apprentice to a full medicine cat at eight moons, because her mentor was killed by a passing fox. She's best friends with Darkclaw.

* ActionGirl: Not usually, but she does help Tidepaw fight Bear during the Gathering Island Battle.
* ActuallyIAmHim: Tidepaw mistakes her for the [=WindClan=] medicine apprentice. However, Rainpaw is the one to do the correcting.
* BigDamnHeroes: She saves Tidepaw from Bear in Chapter Two.
* CelibateHero: As a medicine cat, she can never have a mate.
* CombatMedic: While a medicine cat, she is also trained to fight.
* GreenEyes: She's a green-eyed medic and is closely associated with [=StarClan=].
* TheMedic: She's [=WindClan=]'s medicine cat.
* TheMentor: She's going to be Leafkit's mentor.
* MrExposition: Her main role is to explain the plot to Leafkit and Tidepaw.
* ScarsAreForever: At the end of Chapter Three, Leafkit notices that she has a small scar.
* YoungAndInCharge: She was put in charge of her Clan's medical and spiritual needs at only eight moons old.

!!Ravenstar (Ravenfeather)

[=WindClan=]'s leader. He disagrees with [=RiverClan=] taking [=WindClan=] prey, even though [=RiverClan=] needs the prey to survive.

!!Tidepaw
->"Everyone always overlooks the happy ones. The ones who sulk stand out, but nobody ever thinks that someone so cheerful could be so broken inside."

One of the three main point of view characters. Tidepaw is an upbeat [=RiverClan=] she-cat who never lets anything get her down, despite recent misfortune. At least, that's what she pretends. In reality, Tidepaw hates herself, and hides dark secrets which she believes would cause her Clanmates to hate her.

* ActionGirl: She fights frequently, taking on Bear in Chapter 2 and Darkclaw in Chapter 4.
* BeneathTheMask: She seems to be an excitable and upbeat she-cat, but that's a false persona she uses to prevent her Clanmates from hating her.
* BreakTheCutie: She seems broken beyond repair. However, we don't actually know what made her that way.
* DarkSecret: She has one, but it's only been hinted at. In Chapter 8 [[spoiler:part of her secret turns out to be that she killed her father, Quailfeather.]]
* DeclarationOfProtection: Promises to protect Brightpaw, since she believes that it's the only worthwhile thing she can do.
* GenkiGirl: She pretends to be an energetic and optimistic she-cat.
* HealingFactor: The wounds she received during her fight with Bear have mysteriously healed by the time she leaves the Gathering Island.
* HeroicBSOD: In Chapter 4, when Darkclaw wounds Brightpaw. She manages to snap out of it when her mentor Graywave tells her that Brightpaw will be okay.
* MurderMakesYouCrazy: In Chapter 8, it's revealed that [[spoiler:a great deal of her self-loathing and depression stems from her guilt over killing her own father.]]
* MysteriousPast: Something happened to break her so hard. It involves Darkclaw, but the rest has only been hinted at.
* OhCrap: In Chapter 4, when she realizes that she has a {{healing factor}}.
* {{Patricide}}: Darkclaw reveals in Chapter 8 that [[spoiler:the rogues did not in fact kill Tidepaw's father Quailfeather. He was killed by Tidepaw herself.]]
* PluckyComicRelief: She pretends to be this.
* PromotionToParent: She has had to care for her sister Brightpaw ever since her father was killed by rogues and her mother went missing.
* SadClown: Her plucky and humorous nature is just a ruse for her misery.
* ScarsAreForever: She has a noticeable scar across her forehead. It's still as fresh as when she first got it, which perplexes Sunstorm.
* StepfordSmiler: She's faking her cheerfulness to deal with trauma, and to give Brightpaw someone to lean on.
* StepfordSnarker: Seems like a snarky joker, but she's really incredibly miserable and hates herself.
* SympatheticMurderer: In Chapter 8 it is revealed that [[spoiler:she killed her own father, but since she's a point of view character, the reader gets to see just how much she hates herself over it.]]

!!Rainpaw
->"You don't need to carry all your pain by yourself. Lean on me and Wildpaw and all your other friends. That's what we're here for."

The [=RiverClan=] medicine apprentice. She was a loner, but joined [=RiverClan=] when she was fairly young. Before that, her brother Scratch died because of a disease, which made her vow to never lose a cat to sickness again. She is also Tidepaw's best friend, and tries to offer moral support even when her friend fights against it. Boulderpaw of [=WindClan=] has a one-sided rivalry with her.

!!Darkclaw
->"Is it arrogant of me to want the she-cat who birthed me to give a simple sign that she loves me?"

One of the three main point of view characters. He is the son of [=ShadowClan=]'s leader, Duskstar, and his distance from her causes him great stress. He is very bloodthirsty, but his deepest desire is to be acknowledged by his Clan. He has some sort of history with Tidepaw. He was also the one who discovered the body of her father Quailfeather, who was killed by rogues.

* AntiHero: He does care for his Clan and is firmly on the side of the good guys, but he's also extremely violent and a jerk.
* ArchEnemy: To Tidepaw.
* AxCrazy: He often forgets everything except his bloodlust. Creamfur and Owlflight have had to snap him out of it.
* BerserkButton: Talking about how he was mentored by Bonetail sets him off into a rage.
* EarNotch: Tidepaw tears his ear in Chapter 4.
* HotBlooded: He's completely obsessed with battle, and goes charging into it without thinking.
* ItsPersonal: Thinks this about his conflict with Bonetail because he feels that his former mentor betrayed him more than the other Clan cats with his rebellion.
* {{Jerkass}}: Tidepaw sees him as one. His point of view shows us that she's right, as he constantly insults other cats and has serious temper problems.
* MysteriousPast: Something happened between him and Tidepaw, and it serves as a driving source of conflict.
* TheOnlyOneAllowedToDefeatYou: He wants to be the one to defeat Bonetail, and doesn't want anyone else getting in the way.
* PostVictoryCollapse: After defeating Bonetail, he falls over due to the injuries he was ignoring.
* RoyalBrat: He will not shut up about being the Clan Leader's son. However, he's doing it because of issues with his mother.
* SecretKeeper: In Chapter 8 it is revealed that [[spoiler:he knows that Tidepaw killed her own father]] and [[spoiler:even though he hates her]] he hasn't told anyone else.
* SheIsNotMyGirlfriend: Several cats (such as Stonepaw and Toadclaw) suggest that Snowcloud is basically his mate. He fervently denies it. (With good reason, since being mates with a medicine cat is against the code.)
* ShipTease: Just to troll the audience, he has gotten relationship hints with quite a few cats.
** Hopepaw: He wanted to be her mentor, and they realize how much they understand each other in Chapter 8 and start rubbing against each other.
** Snowcloud: She's the only cat he considers a friend, they always talk with each other at Gatherings, he apparently went to Foxwhisker and asked her to take him to see her, and he is obsessed with her in his flashback.
** Owlflight: In Chapter 8, she goes out and looks for him in the middle of the night and tells him that she wants to fight alongside him. Also, she says that he used to be cute. Additionally, she made his nest for him when he was a kit, and he feels slightly jealous when she's interacting with Lionfur.
** Tidepaw: They used to be friends, and despite how much he claims to hate her he still carries her to a medicine cat when she gets injured in a battle.
** Glace: He attacks her at first, but afterwards he hears her out when she starts talking to him, and it's mentioned that he trusts her.
** Creamfur: Redclaw tries to set him up on a date with her. He agrees to it, but with [[spoiler:the fire throwing a wrench in their plans]], it's unclear how things will turn out.
* SlasherSmile: When attacking Brightpaw in Chapter 4.
* UsedToBeASweetKid: While not a villain (yet), Darkclaw is sarcastic, violent, revenge obsessed, and has a temper problem. When he was a kit, however, he was a lot meeker, more sincere, and less violent. His change in temperament seems to come from losing many cats close to him.
* WellDoneSonGuy: He strives to earn the approval of his mother Duskstar, but finds it hard due to the distance between them.
* YouCanBarelyStand: Sort of. Bonetail's beating makes it incredibly painful for Darkclaw to move, but despite Sootstain's advice, he chases after Bonetail and still manages to defeat him.

!!Duskstar

[=ShadowClan=]'s leader, and the mother of Darkclaw and Cherrynose. She had her kits when she was deputy, but was forced to leave the Nursery when her predecessor died. Nowadays, Darkclaw struggles to earn her approval.

* UsedToBeASweetKit: While not a villain (yet), Darkclaw is sarcastic, violent, revenge obsessed, and has a temper problem. When he was a kit, however, he was a lot meeker, more sincere, and less violent. His change in temperament seems to come from losing many cats close to him.

* MinorMajorCharacter: He has the very important position of [=WindClan=]'s deputy, but he has done next to nothing.

One of the three main point of view characters. Leafkit is a silver [=WindClan=] she-cat who dreams of one day being the leader of her Clan. Although her dreams are big, she doesn't quite have a complete grip on the way the Clans work yet.

He commands an army of rogues, which he promises will be used to wipe out the Clans if he doesn't get what he wants (that being the Medicine Cats). There's more to him than he lets on, but only Snowcloud has tried to figure out his motives.

Bonetail's mate. Died four moons before the story began, on the night of a Gathering. Her death drove Bonetail over the edge, and caused him to hate medicine cats.

The leader of the Sky Avengers, a group of cats that tried to destroy the Clans three years before the events of ''Golden Dawn: Lost Sunrise''.

* GenkiBoy: He's pretty energetic and excitable.

A tom who always steals Nightheart's catnip and gets high with it. He was once a respected warrior and the mate of [=RiverClan=]'s leader Otterstar, but he fell into depression when his kits died.

* {{Jerkass}}: He isn't very nice to Tidepaw.

* HiddenAgendaVillain: All we know is that his plan involves killing some cats, and the Clan cats are in danger because of it.
