* SatelliteCharacter: All of his actions revolve around the two sisters. He brings the sisters to the trolls to cure Anna, locks the sisters away after Pabbie shows the image of a future Elsa being attacked by a mob in an effort to protect her from such a fate while she's still learning to control her powers, tries to help Elsa control them, and dies while on a ship headed to an unknown destination, the significance of which is limited to putting the sisters into morning and setting the stage for Elsa to be coronated as queen.

Although Agnarr is generally docile, when he is on the verge of losing his temper, it is Iduna who has the ability to calm his nerves. This peacekeeping aura of the queen is also carried over to other occasions, such as Elsa's training to control her powers; the queen being far more patient and accepting of momentary breaks, in hopes of preventing Elsa from becoming overwhelmed.

Elsa has repeatedly been aloof, cold and distant towards Anna while Anna has been nothing but loving, supportive and understanding of Elsa regardless of how Elsa has always treated her. * BewareTheSuperman: Played with. Elsa is generally good at heart, but she is so afraid of accidentally hurting someone she cares about that she has to shut everyone out of her life, including Anna. The show of her powers made her someone to fear. Once she runs away, she decides "screw this, I'm going to run away and let loose", yet it causes an EndlessWinter. Hans exploits this trope to justify killing Elsa.

* ByronicHeroine: She is an IceQueen who not only is brooding about her powers, but also exiles herself after her powers are exposed at the coronation. Though, unlike most byronic heroes, this is less due to selfish whining and more because she feels she must detach herself emotionally for the safety of everyone. Her inner conflicts over her powers end up driving many central elements of the plot. In fact, "Let It Go", with its extolling of rejecting the conventions of society -- not to mention her responsibilities as monarch -- is essentially an anthem to a kind of Romantic Existentialism.

** "Agnarr" is a male form of Agða, a short form of Agatha, meaning "good" and/or "honorable". The name Agnarr means "brave" and/or "warrior" in Norse and from Greek agathos meaning "good". All of which reflect his noble intentions towards his daughters.
** "Iduna" can be anglicized as Ithunn, or Idunn/Idun. Iðunn means "youthful", a nod to her [[MumLooksLikeASister youthful appearance.]]
* MyBelovedSmother: Deconstructed. Agdar and Iduna desired to protect their children, so they isolated them from anything that could hurt them, including each other. Because of this, the girls are denied the life experiences and skills that real people need to develop. Elsa becomes an IneffectualLoner who hides her emotions from everyone, including her sister, until they come gushing out. Since her powers are controlled by her emotions, not knowing how to handle either sets off the plot. Anna grows up very naive as to how love, the world and even her own kingdom works, resulting in her getting engaged to a man she barely knows [[spoiler:who turns out to be a GoldDigger and is just using Anna's naivete to marry his way into ruling Arendelle]].
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: While their insistence that Elsa isolate herself and hide her powers was well-meaning, the reason her powers got so out of control as she grew older was ''because'' of the isolation. It's only once she opens up and accepts the love and affection of her friends and family that she regains the level of control over her powers that she had as a child. Many fans have interpreted this as AnAesop: When you have kids, don't make them feel ashamed or afraid of who they are, even if society may frown upon them. It will not end well.
* NicePerson: In spite of their ''huge'' mistake on how they handled Elsa's powers, they both prove to be loving and well meaning people.
* NotQuiteTheRightThing: After Elsa accidentally injures her sister, her parents conclude that the best thing to do is to keep her away from the world and make her fear her powers. However, this just causes her to build up a lot of emotional issues when the actual secret to controlling herself requires her to ''embrace'' her emotions and love for others, which is more like what she was already doing. Not only was this exactly the wrong way to help Elsa, but it both took away Anna's friendship with her sister and prevented her from making friends with anyone else, leaving her desperately craving affection. The moment she gets out and meets someone, she rushes into the first relationship that presents itself.

* TookALevelInBadass: {{Downplayed|Trope}}. It was already shown that Elsa had a pretty good control of her powers as a child, but when she accidentally hurt her sister, her parents thought it was best for her to conceal her powers. This led to her becoming emotionally troubled and accidentally unleashing an eternal blizzard. After escaping into the snowy mountains, Elsa sings "Let It Go" to fullt show her accepting herself and her powers, proceeding to physically change herself and build an entire ice castle. And after Anna's HeroicSacrifice, she managed to put an end to the eternal blizzard.
* TookALevelInCheerfulness: Elsa grew up highly reserved because she was afraid being emotional would cause her powers to act up.
