* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: He's mortified when he sees that Jerry casts no reflection and drives off.

* AffablyEvil: Jerry is a polite, charming, and really likable guy. But he's also a vampire who is responsible for a string of murders, and will kill anyone without remorse in order to protect his dark secret. He becomes more FauxAffablyEvil later on when Charley and Peter break into his house, retaining the same charm, but in a much more superficial manner.

* OhCrap: When she gradually learns that Jerry, ''is'' a vampire.

* AmbiguouslyGay: A bit YMMV on this, but there has been a lot of speculation about his sexuality. Jerry's speech to him about being an outcast for who he is has this undertone, although it can be interpreted as him simply being a weirdo. It doesn't help that Stephen Geoffreys is homosexual and starred in a prolific catalogue of gay porn movies. There's also this interaction he had with Charley:

* GameFace: When things get serious, he reveals his true vampiric form: red eyes and pointed ears, with a set of fangs on both his lower and upper teeth, and elongated, sharpened fingernails.

* OurVampiresAreDifferent: Somewhat downplayed. He follows pretty much all the typical vampire tropes (burns in sunlight, is repelled by faith, can turn into a bat, sleeps in a coffin, etc), but he can eat and drink.[[labelnote:note]]That is, he can drink water and alcohol, and presumably anything else and not just blood[[/labelnote]] Chris Sarandon explained his apple-eating by stating that he has a bit of fruit bat in his genetic makeup.

* TheRenfield: Takes care of the house for Jerry during the day and brings him hookers to feed on. However, he doesn't appear to be very interested in being turned.

* NiceGirl: No matter how much Charley pushes her away, she never stops caring for his well-being.

* GenreSavvy: An interesting example. Ed is quite aware of the usual vampire weaknesses, such as it takes faith for a vampire to be warded off with a cross, or that they need to be invited into anyone's houses. But he doesn't believe in them one bit, [[spoiler:until it's too late for him.]]
* {{Jerkass}}: He was always a bit of an asshole to Charley, and never really showed any signs of being a supportive friend. He also apparently finds the notion of a serial killer in town to be hilarious.

* LargeHam: Even before [[spoiler:becoming a vampire,]] his dialogue was over-the-top. Then of course, there's the delivery of his most famous line.

* AmbiguouslyBi: The way he leans over Billy Cole's shoulder suggests that he may see him as something a little more than a servant.

[[spoiler:Then Peter shot him in the head. Then Cole got back up. Then Peter continued to shoot him. Then Charley drove a stake through his heart, which resulted in the dissolution of his flesh.]]

In one scene he says to Charlie the he'll give him "something that he doesn't have, a choice" impling he's cursed with his vampiric nature and he doesn't like killing very much. However seeing with how much sadism he stalks and toys with Peter and Charley, this is quite hard to believe.
