* UnexplainedRecovery: In "To Where and Back Again - Part 2", Chrysalis loses her crown when her throne is destroyed, and flees her former kingdom soon after. When she returns in "The Mean 6", the crown is back on her head, with no explanation for how she recovered it.

* EvilOrphan: Cozy Glow's parents are [[ParentalAbandonment never seen or brought up]], not even when she gets imprisoned in Tartarus or [[spoiler:turned into stone]]. When asked about the whereabouts of Cozy's parents, WordOfGod responded with "Who says she has parents?", [[ImpliedTrope implying]] Cozy Glow is indeed an orphan. Of course, that also raises the question of whether she's a SelfMadeOrphan... [[invoked]]

* NoNonsenseNemesis: In the Season 9 finale, she shows this when she attacks Canterlot Castle. She stuns Twilight upon entering the room, sends the guards through a portal to the outside, brings Grogar's bell to drain Celestia and Luna's magic, and upon capturing most of the Mane Six, she is in favor of disposing of them immediately. Fortunately for them, Chrysalis [[BondVillainStupidity shoots this down]].

* FauxAffablyEvil: Acts friendly and polite with Discord, even congratulating him on escaping imprisonment. It continues into the next episode, but is limited to Discord. He drops the act [[spoiler:once he no longer needs Discords aid, backstabs him, and mocks Discord for trusting him.]]

* ShadowArchetype: Like Discord pre-CharacterDevelopment, he's [[ItsAllAboutMe self centered]], [[MoralMyopia holds a grudge when slighted despite his own evil deeds]], considers [[EvilCannotComprehendGood Friendship to be a worthless thing]], and is a ManipulativeBastard of the highest order. [[spoiler:Unlike Discord, instead of allowing a friend (Discord, ironically) to change him, he stabs said "friend" in the back at the first opportunity, something Discord originally couldn't bring himself to do until convinced to by Tirek. Fittingly, it's Discords fully embracing the value of friendship that leads to Tirek being vanquished.]]

* InsufferableGenius: He is very smart with his plans and manipulations, and smugly rubs this in others faces pretty often. When he and Cozy Glow get into an argument, she describes him as having a "I'm smarter than you" attitude and that she is done putting up with it.

* LeanAndMean: He starts off a scrawny monkey-like figure, then grows stronger as he absorbs magic.

* ShapeshifterSwanSong: [[spoiler:After being hit by the Mane Six's WaveMotionGun]].

** In "The Ending of the End – Part 1", after she [[spoiler:absorbs Discord's magic, she tries to turn on the others and rule Equestria by herself]].

* SuperMode: [[spoiler:Upon absorbing Grogar's bell's magic, she gains a new, powered up transformation to go with Cozy Glow's Alicorn form and Tirek's upgraded form.]]

* TeethClenchedTeamwork: Her alliance with the other members of the LegionOfDoom is just barely held together by Grogar's threats of violence.

* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: The tomboy to Cozy Glow's girly girl. Cozy gets what she wants via [[TheFakeCutie faked kindness]], whereas Chrysalis prefers confrontation.

* TeethClenchedTeamwork: His alliance with the other members of the LegionOfDoom is just barely held together by Grogar's threats of violence.

* LeaderWannabe: In "Frenemies", she repeatedly insists that Grogar placed her in charge of the LegionOfDoom.

** Discord gives one to him in the season nine finale by calling him pathetic for using magic to compensate for his fear that he could never measure up to his father King Vorak.

* HornsOfVillainy: As a grotesque perversion of an alicorn, Chrysalis's horn is long, twisted, and gnarled.

** [[spoiler:In the season 9 finale, she is shown to be the most sadistic of the Legion of Doom, perfering to torment their prisoners and make everypony watch their heroes become broken rather than destroying them outright like Cozy and Tirek want. She is also the only one who wants the Windigos to stay so that they can "save the day" after the land becomes a frozen wasteland, basically wanting them to suffer until they beg for her rule.]]

* {{Adorkable}}: Villainous example. She excitedly prances over creating the Mean Six clones, and clearly has fun mocking Twilight.

** Spike is an even better example. Both are the youngest members of their respective groups and are of a different species than the other members, as well as being the WiseBeyondTheirYears OnlySaneMan, though their teammates often fail to take them seriously. Additionally, both served as Twilight's assistant, albeit in different aspects.

** To Diamond Tiara... and if you count the fact that DT was once a villain herself, ''eviler counterpart''. Both are fillies with [[LightIsNotGood bright pink color schemes]] who are ''far'' from nice to the Cutie Mark Crusaders and seek [[IJustWantToHaveFriends friendship]], but while Diamond Tiara acted mean out of hidden insecurities and made a HeelFaceTurn, Cozy Glow [[BitchInSheepsClothing acted all nice and innocent]] at first, but turned out to be a FalseFriend not only to the Cutie Mark Crusaders, but to everypony around her, and ''more of an evil sociopath than Diamond Tiara ever was''. Both of them also have a cutie mark special talent that involves "getting other ponies to do what they want".

* BeyondRedemption: Out of the three members of the LegionOfDoom, she gets this the most. While Tirek has a few redeeming qualities such as love for his grandmother (and possibly his brother before their fallout) and had enough good in him to catch a bird and release it unharmed, and Cozy Glow is a messed up kid who did care for the Crusaders before they tried to stop her, and both came close to redeeming themselves at one point, Chrysalis has proven herself to be a heartless monster. She never displays care for anyone other than herself, and she proves to be the most evil of the three. Out of the three, she was the only one who was actually offered a chance at redemption, which she rejected. She was the one who stopped the group from turning over a new leaf, and she is the only one who remained DefiantToTheEnd. Along with Sombra, she proves to be one of the most vile villains in the series, which is why [[spoiler:no one has any objections to turning her to stone]].

* BoomerangBigot: She shows a hatred of ponies despite being one herself. She repeatedly refers to her enemies as "you/those ponies", and she demonstrates a hatred for the things they hold custom, such as their concept of friendship and their holidays. When an annoyed Chrysalis asks her how many holidays ponies have, she disgustedly replies "Too many."

* TheEvilPrince: ''[=FIENDship=] Is Magic'' reveals he was an actual prince of the centaurs, adding [[AmbitionIsEvil ambition to his many sins]], and showing part of his motive was resentment over his father's ([[ProperlyParanoid completely justified]]) holding him back from power, fearing what Tirek would do with it. The series finale brings this into main canon, while also revealing Tirek has a bit of a inferiority complex towards his father King Vorak.

* {{Hypocrite}}: He despises his brother for turning against him, yet he uses and betrays [[spoiler:Discord]] without a second thought.

** In the finale, [[spoiler:he and Cozy Glow immediately back down when they're depowered]].

* KnowWhenToFoldEm: [[spoiler:She and Tirek both immediately back down in the finale when they're de-powered.]]

** He's practically a male Nightmare Moon. Both are TheDreaded {{Physical God}}s with big-time BlackMagic, SmokeOut forms. But while she's a FallenHero with a SuperpoweredEvilSide, he as far as we know has always been evil. And she's a VillainBall-holding LargeHam, but he's a NoNonsenseNemesis ColdHam.
** He's also this to Discord. Both are {{Eldritch Abomination}}s who were once the most-dangerous {{Fisher King}}s in Equestrian history. However, while Discord just wants to toy with his enemies and can get too overconfident at times, Sombra is dead-serious and takes every precaution he can think of before engaging his enemies.

** She's basically a filly version of the former changeling queen Chrysalis. Both are [[ManipulativeBitch manipulative]] [[TheChessmaster Chessmasters]] who [[BitchInSheepsClothing pretend to be nice]] in order to fulfill their EvilPlan. But while she pretends to be someone else by shapeshifting into them, Cozy Glow just assumes a different personality, which ironically proves to be more successful than Chrysalis due to the latter's [[BadBadActing bad acting skills]] while disguised as Cadance that caused Twilight to be [[ProperlyParanoid suspicious]] of her. Also, while Chrysalis has an army of changelings and a throne and proves to be nearly nothing without them, Cozy Glow only has herself, with even her ally Tirek being imprisoned in Tartarus, yet, despite only being a filly, ''still'' almost successfully took over Equestria. It's also worth noting that Chrysalis said in her song that she wanted to control everypony since she was small, so Cozy has been called "A Chrysalis who got around to being a megalomaniac since young.".
** She also serves as one to Chancellor Neighsay. Both are antagonists who strongly believe in ThePowerOfFriendship, but miss the point and only see it as a means of force. However, their villainous actions vary. Neighsay attempts to prevent friendship from being learned by non-ponies who could potentially threaten Equestria, while Cozy Glow plans to conquer Equestria by taking Twilight's place in an Equestria without magic. Also, while Neighsay eventually makes a HeelFaceTurn, Cozy Glow remains evil after her defeat.
** Surprisingly, she's also Starlight Glimmer's foil. Both ponies were introduced to the series as seemingly sweet and kind, but turned out to be manipulative and had incorrect views on friendship (as either a ruling class or a means of power). However, while Starlight's actions were out of misguided good intentions, Cozy Glow has nothing but selfish hidden agendas for herself.

** In Part 2, [[spoiler:she insists that the villains don't destroy their captives right away, instead letting them live long for Equestria to see how their heroes have been "broken". Moments later, Discord arranges for the Mane Five and Spike to escape and reunite with Twilight]].

* FamousLastWords: "You think friendship will save you? We will always return! Nothing will ever stop —"

* KilledMidSentence: Rather, "Cut Off Mid-Sentence". [[spoiler:After she's de-powered from the CombinedEnergyAttack Tirek, Cozy and she got hit with. Her last lines have her ranting to the heroes that their friendship won't saved them... right before a giant cupcake (caused by Pinkie getting Grogar's Bell) falls on top of the three. It doesn't kill them but not long after they're turned to stone by Celestia, Luna and Discord]].

** In "The Beginning of the End - Part 1", she expresses concern when Grogar berates Cozy Glow for not knowing his name. And, in "Frenemies", she catches Cozy Glow when the latter is blown away by wind.

* WorldsStrongestMan: [[spoiler:Briefly gets to become the single most powerful being in the ''universe'' when she gets Discord's chaos magic after already absorbing one-third of the magic from Grogar's bell. [[HorrifyingTheHorror Tirek and Chrysalis are horrified]].]]

* DiscOneFinalBoss: He sets up as this for the final season, as he's the first villain the Mane Six have to face before Grogar and his LegionOfDoom.

* NotSoWellIntentionedExtremist: She seeks conquest of Equestria and the world with the justification of finding a source of power for her subjects to feed on, but it's made painfully obvious, due to her remorseless sadism when attacking Canterlot and her actions in the season 6 finale, that she just wants the power that comes with it.

* VocalDissonance: She uses her "Crackle Cosette" disguise three times in the series, and each time, the voice is noticeably different:
** In "The Mean 6", she uses a light, sweet-sounding voice.
** In "The Summer Sun Setback", the voice is deeper and more haughty.
** In the ColdOpen of "The Ending of the End - Part 1", it sounds similar to Trixie's voice.
