About the only explanation is that he is a rich doctor and the women he succeeds with a generally very shallow.

* NotSoDifferentRemark: After his death, Chandler realizes how similar he is to Heckles and worries that he might ended up like him in the years to come.

* BaldWomen: She used to be this, but when Rachel meets her she is horrified to see that her hair has actually grown back and she is actually a very attractive woman. Until Rachel convinces her to shave her hair off again in "The One at the Beach".

* BadassMustache: It's Tom Selleck. It's gone when he makes a return appearance in Season 3, but it's back in Season 6.

* DerailingLoveInterests: He was a NiceGuy who genuinely loved Phoebe and she even agreed to move in with him happily...until he shot a bird just because it was chirping too loudly. Phoebe broke up with him and he was never seen again.

* HeCleansUpNicely: He's introduced with a massive beard and bushy hair that Rachel says makes him look like a yeti. He shaves after the girls spray him with bug bomb and Rachel barely recognises him without the hair.

* HideYourPregnancy: Emily's last two appearances have her in bed, under the blankets.

* RealLifeWritesThePlot: Her arc was supposed to be longer, but because of Baxendale's pregnancy and desire to work back in England, she was written off quicker than intended.

* {{Jerkass}}: About Ross, particularly because Mark ''did have a crush on Rachel''. Mark also asked Rachel out after she and Ross broke up and even wanted to get back at Ross with Rachel, which she rejects. He started to earn this trope when he apparently tried to get them broken up when he deliberately spoke loudly while Rachel was on the phone with Ross and hoped that Ross would cheat on her.

* DeathStares: She angrily gives this stare to Ross after mistakenly saying Rachel's name at their wedding.

* SelfFulfullingProphecy: While initially, Kathy was not cheating on Chandler with Nick. His immaturity in the situation and overall pettiness ends up driving Kathy away from him to Nick.

** Her final "appearance" has her calling Ross ''the night before her wedding''. No matter how you twist it, even at best, it's disrespectful to her fiance.

* WomanScorned: Although this ''is'' partially Ross' fault.

* DerailingLoveInterests: While she did kiss Chandler, while she was with Joey, it was portrayed sympathetically as they'd genuinley fallen in love, while she and Joey were very casual. She eventually breaks up with Joey on good terms and enters into a proper relationship with Chandler, until eventually ''Chandler himself'' is the one who gets derailed. He sees her acting out a simulated sex scene with another guy in a play, and immidiately assumes she much be having an affair with him. She denies this, but Chandler accuses her in such an immature and harsh way that she DOES end up having an affair with the guy.

** Rachel, for her first job working at Central Perk. He ''[[JerkassHasAPoint does]]'' [[JerkassHasAPoint have a point]], though: she's positively incompetent at her job, either screwing ''every'' order or just sitting down and acting like a costumer when her friends come along.
