* ImprobableAge: He's just fifteen. Even for a medieval setting, this raises eyebrows. Zelots comments on Roy's youth when he teams up with the Lycian League, and Deke worries that Roy will be too inexperienced to properly lead an army (but seeing his performance assauges those doubts).

* CrutchCharacter: Although not to the same extent as Marcus or Zealot. His growths aside from HP are poor for an unpromoted unit, but he comes with extremely good base stats at level 5 in the second chapter, making him essentially one of two {{Disc One Nuke}}s (the other is Rutger).

* BunnyEarsLawyer: He's actually a pretty good, competent priest who knows what is good and what is so unforgivable that only death will suffice (the latter's example is Oro), but in the same time, he's also a shameless flirt who hits on women under the guise of "preaching". His superior (Yodel) saw through that and entrusts him with dangerous, serious missions. Saul completes all his missions properly, while still hitting on women (without success).

* NumberTwo: To Yodel, who finds quite a bit of fault in his technique.

* HeroicSelfDeprecation: She's not very confident in herself and wonders why she can't use healing staves. Yodel, Clarine, and General Percival help her see herself better.

* DisappearedDad: She asks Shin if her grandfather is alright, but not her father. [[DoomedByCanon Uh oh...]]

* SugarAndIcePersonality: Like her father Rath and tribesman Shin, Sue tends to be very quiet. She's very sweet to the people she likes, however.

!!Zelots ''(Zealot, Jerrot)''

* CrutchCharacter: Pretty much the same deal as Marcus, Zealot has marginally better stats in exchange for joining much later, and even worse growths. He doesn't join late enough to be completely useless, but late enough such that many of your characters are already starting to catch up with Zealot.

* IGaveMyWord: Ilian mercenary policy. Even though the Lycian Alliance is now led by a boy and Lycia has been curbstomped, Zelots joins anyway because that's who hired him.

* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: The chillest cavalier you'll ever meet; also, forgetful and weird practically to EruditeStoner levels (except that he doesn't appear to be on anything). His conversations with Gonzalez have to be seen to be believed, as it consists almost entirely of Gonzalez and Treck trying to remember each others' names.

* ObliviousToLove: He has no idea why Tate is following him and offers to find better job opportunities for her. She thinks he's trying to get rid of her until she blurts out that she's staying for ''him.'' (Though in fairness, it's pretty hard to figure out when TheStoic is in love with her.)
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: When Tate says that she'll follow him without question, his response is that he really wouldn't mind a few questions now and then. He himself questions his orders and changes position based on new information, and refuses to see anyone under his command as expendable, even hired fighters like the pegasus knights.

* UndyingLoyalty: As seen in her supports with Zelots and Juno, Thite is almost completely devoted to her older sister since she raised her and Shanna, and goes out of her way to make sure Juno will be happy.

* DeadpanSnarker: He's just as sharp-tongued as Niime.

* IntergenerationalFriendship: With Niime, who shares his barbed wit and love of elder magic.

In contrast to Cecilia, who has dedicated herself to the populace of Etruria, and Douglas, who has sworn his loyalty to the royal family of Etruria, Percival isn't entirely sure what exactly he is most loyal towards. With some help from Douglas he eventually manages to get over it.

* HumbleHero: When Niime compliments her for being a strong person in their A-level support, Sophia is rather shocked at the very idea of being called that.
* IJustWantToBeNormal: Subverted. In one of her support conversations, [[spoiler: Niime points out to Sophia that if she was just an ordinary human girl as opposed to being a half-human, half-dragon hybrid, she could have had a normal and happy life without worrying about being hunted down for her powers. In response, however, Sophia says the following:]]

* KidHero: [[DiscussedTrope Discussed]] by Brunya, who points out that despite his youth, he’s already undergone more hardships than many of the grown adult villains he’s faced.

* TheSmartGuy: For his young age and lack of experience, Roy ''is'' pretty cunning in regards to politics (i.e.: [[spoiler:he discovers almost by himself that Elphin was the missing Prince Mildain under a SpoonyBard disguise.]])

* BigBrotherInstinct: He worries about Wendy more than he really needs to.

* MightyGlacier: Of the three unpromoted Armor Knights, Barth has a classic set-up. He has the best HP growth (a guaranteed 100%) aside from the resident [[CuteMonsterGirl Manakete]] and tied with Lot for the best Defense growth, and has a very high Strength growth as well along with the highest constitution of all recruitable units (and the ability to use the Devil Axe unburdened), but his other stats are atrocious, especially his resistance base of 0 and a mere 2% growth.

* FriendlyRivalry: He and Wendy train to become stronger than the other in their supports.

** FaceOfAThug: Poor Gonzales; being good wasn't much of an option with a face like his.

* HugeGuyTinyGirl: If supported with Lilina. It's also a good idea from a gameplay standpoint, as Lilina and Gonzales boost each other's rather lacking accuracy if they're supporting.

* JackOfAllStats: A rare ''axe'' and Pirate version of it. His growth spread is pretty balanced compared to that of Gonzales; he's less reliant on luck than Gonzales, but also less able to pay out when luck shifts his way.

* AngerBornOfWorry: She gets sharp with Shanna and Allen over their LeeroyJenkins tendencies because she cares about them.

!!Lalum ''(Lalam)''

A member of the Rebel forces on the Western Isles under Echidna. [[spoiler:Also, the adopted daughter of Douglas, and the one who found a badly injured Elphin and rescued him from certain death.]].

* LethalChef: Her cooking is so bad that Ekhidna refuses to even call it by that name.

* SchrodingersPlayerCharacter: Depending on which village you visit first in chapter 9, either she will join you later or Elphin will.

* {{Bifauxnen}}: It's not at all uncommon for Ekhidna to be mistaken for a boy.
* TheBigGuy: Among the Etrurian rebels who join the army, Ekhidna is the biggest and the toughest.

She says she's not going to pretend he isn't ugly, dumb, and scary-looking, but suggests that he stop ''caring'' that he's those things and find something he enjoys and that helps others (like helping her build a village for displaced refugees) because people will like him if he likes himself. * FakingTheDead: [[spoiler:He's actually Prince Mildain of Etruria, who was almost assassinated but managed to survive thanks to Lalam rescuing him. He decided to let his enemies think he was dead to try fighting back.]]

* GuileHero: In the resistance group, he is the brains, just like Echidna is the brawn and Lalam is the heart.

* SchrodingersPlayerCharacter: See Lalum. Regardless of who gets recruited, Elphin still appears as an [=NPC=].
* SecretTestOfCharacter: He tells Roy that the Western Isles adventure was a ploy between Etruria and Bern to leave Lycia without its army. Roy is alarmed but elects to stay and finish what he started, proving his character to Elphin. (The information is true, but Elphin admits to saying it in the way most likely to cause dismay.)

* FragileSpeedster: She plays this straighter than both of the other thieves, being faster than Chad and Astore and ''much'' more fragile.

* LateCharacterSyndrome: She can be recruited only as early as Chapter 12, and as late as Chapter ''22'', though regardless, Chad and Astol will by then already have superior stats and/or constitution.

!!Milady ''(Miledy)''

Princess Guinevere's personal guard, whose loyalty to her mistress surpasses her loyalty to Bern. Older sister of Zeiss, and former girlfriend of Galle.

* ActionGirl: She's skilled enough to be one of Bern's famed Wyvern Riders, as well as Guinevere's personal bodyguard.

* DefectorFromDecadence: She was a respected and high-ranking knight in Bern. In fact, Guinivere held off on fleeing as long as she did because she didn't want Milady's reputation to be harmed.

* LadyAndKnight: With Guinivere, which is why she's more than a little peeved when Guinevere defects without her.

* SavvyGuyEnergeticGirl: Him and Lalam.

* MightyGlacier: Like Barth, Douglas is a classic general: good power and defense, but no speed.

* ParentalSubstitute: To Lalam, whom he adopted. He loves her dearly, but apparently not enough to relent from attacking Roy's group when you finally meet up with him.

* CrutchCharacter: A level 20 Bishop with only "meh" stats to back up a maximized resistance stat that will end up useless in the endgame. He basically just exists to use Aureola if Saul or Ellen don't have the requisite light magic stat to do so.

* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: Until [[spoiler:Mildain's death]], he was this. [[spoiler:Most likely got better when Elphin revealed himself as Mildain and returned home after the war.]]

* CainAndAbel: With Guinevere. [[spoiler:Really sad, considering that as kids they were so close.]]

* SillyRabbitIdealismIsForKids: [[spoiler:And he even thought so in ''Rekka no Ken'', as when he made his idealistic prayer for his parents, himself, Guinevere, and her mother to get back together, he called it "my last wish as a foolish child."]]

Seemingly impressed by Zephiel's [[AxCrazy murderous desire]] to give the continent back to the Dragons, Jahn entrusted Idenn and her powers to him.]]

Unfortunately, Zephiel not only woke Idenn from her thousand-year sleep, but discovered how to make himself her new master.]]

* FreezeFrameBonus: Two of them: a blink-and-you'll-miss-it glimpse of her true form at the end of the intro, and [[spoiler:in chapter 21, Idenn very briefly shown with her cloak off when Roy sees Hartmut's memories.]]

* AFatherToHisMen: He can support with all the members of his band (as well as Rutger and Clarine) and their conversations are dominated by his efforts to advise and protect them: He urges Wade to pay more attention to his surroundings and not rely on brute strength to always win the day; he tells Shanna to fight as part of a team rather than over-relying on her flight and speed; he teaches Lot to not take employers at face value, because they may not have their mercs best interests at heart; he tries to help Rutger escape the death-grip that revenge has on him; Clarine...[[TheGadfly well, he tolerates her.]]

And unlike other games, where skill is useless, the ability to hit is invaluable in Binding Blade, where hit rates against bosses are atrocious, so Rutger is probably your ''only'' unit who can take on the early game bosses.

* PerpetualFrowner: His portrait shows him scowling, and throughout the ''entire game'' he laughs or smiles ''once''--in his A-support with Clarine.

* HeroicSelfDeprecation: She's not very confident in herself and wonders why she can't use healing staves. Jodel, Clarine, and General Percival help her see herself better.

The daughter of Rath from ''Blazing Sword'' and a member of the Kutolah Tribe of Sacae. She managed to escape from the Kutolah massacre but was captured by a traitor to Lycia as well as imprisoned; if you release her, she joins the group. She's also Dayan's granddaughter.

* ActionGirl: Is more than willing toenter the fray with her bow and arrows.

* SugarAndIcePersonality: Like her father Rath and tribesman Sin, Sue tends to be very quiet. She's very sweet to the people she likes, however.

* BoringButPractical: Having a second pre-promoted unit with a mounts during the timespan of his jointime is a godsend, especially in the Hard Mode.

* DorkKnight [[KnightInShiningArmor In Shining Armor]]: In combat he looks like a calm and reserved mercenary knight. When it comes to Fir, he's shy and kind of awkward.

* JackOfAllStats: Among the four cavaliers he has the most average stat growths, though sadly hampered by a low strength. He still has a great niche in his durability and support bonuses with Fir.

* IOweYouMyLife: To Hector, who found him looting castle Ostia and hired him instead of punishing him.

* BenevolentMageRuler ''and'' TheHighQueen: [[spoiler:Or rather, the Benevolent Mage High Marchioness/Duchess of Ostia. In the end, Lycia unifies into a single country, with Lilina as its queen due to Ostia being the dominant state. Plus, shall she marry Roy, they become the RulingCouple of the new Lycian Realm.]]

* ImpliedLoveInterest: To Roy, they're all but stated to be the OfficialCouple; they have ShipTease moments even outside of support conversations (mostly Lilina making it blatantly obvious that she has feelings for him with Roy [[ObliviousToLove just not catching on]]), their support chain is one of the fastest in any game and getting them to A-rank alters the ending, and one of the CG images in the music player depicts their first meeting as children. This even got two nods in ''Blazing Sword''; one in Hector's B-support with Eliwood, which has him dreaming of his not-yet-born daughter playing with an unborn Roy in the future, and him getting supremely annoyed at the possibility that he may lose his daughter to Eliwood's son, and the other in the epilogue, which shows the above-mentioned first encounter in cutscene form. * NiceGirl: A caring and supportive young girl at heart who rarely judge others by who they are. In fact, her kindness is how you can recruit Gonzales into your team.

* TookALevelInBadass: Lilina is found locked in a room of her own castle, and Roy's crew have to bail her out to recruit her. After joining the party as soon as she's freed!, and even moreso after being promoted, she then proceeds to kick plenty of ass. She's arguably one of the best magic users in the game, if not ''the'' best.

* MagikarpPower: Subverted. Wendy starts with atrocious base stats, and training her up is nigh impossible. Should you spend time and effort however, she can become your [[OverlyNarrowSuperlative best Armor Knight]] - which still comes with [[MightyGlacier heavy]] [[CantCatchUp drawbacks]].

* JackOfAllStats: Though with lower bases, availability and constitution than Dieck, he mostly gets the shit end of the usability stick.

* ATeamFiring: Very strong, modest durable, access to the +30 crit rate of Berserkers, and possesses enough constitution to use the Brave Axe unencumbered to couple with his high speed. All offset by his terrible skill and the overall poor accuracy of axes in this game.

If Hector married Lyndis in the prequel, then she's born into a family in which all of the girls on her mother's side have the name "Lyn" somewhere in their name, as the name is present in her great-grandmother (who ''Blazing Sword'''s Lyndis is named after), and in the name of her grandmother Madelyn. Then, the tradition continues with Li''lin''a.

* {{Badass}}: In-Universe he's one of the best mercenaries around. In terms of game mechanics, he's not half-bad either.

This even got two nods in ''Blazing Sword''; one in Eliwood and Hector's B-support, which has him dreaming of his not-yet-born daughter playing with an unborn Roy in the future, and him getting supremely annoyed at the possibility that he may lose his daughter to Eliwood's son, and the other in the epilogue, which shows the above-mentioned first encounter in cutscene form.
