Only works when actively a Scholar.

* BookDumb: The writing generally leans towards this. The typical division of labor is the other Scions will do the research and investigating while the Warrior does more physical tasks. Numerous dialogue options depict them as a BunnyEarsLawyer or a {{Cloudcuckoolander}} who isn't as well-read as their Sharlayan compatriots and they're frequently the target of exposition regarding complex subjects like aetherology. But the Warrior of Light is by no means ''stupid''. They're an InstantExpert at anything they put their mind to, be it a combat form or a trade, and can become an expert at any number of intellectually taxing disciplines that require a lot of reading, such as arcanima, thaumaturgy, and machinistry. So while the writing tends to default to the Warrior being uneducated, how much they are is up to the player. A good example of this is when Urianger is explaining the aetheric causes of the water cycle. A default answer is to attribute it to an Allagan conspiracy, but if the player has leveled the Scholar job, they can be the ones who explain it to the group.

** With Hildibrand, the Warrior often snarks with him, wonders in their diary why they torture themselves by following the Inspector, and is as casual as the rest of the cast about the pain Hildibrand puts himself through. They also follow him through hell and back, always help him with his plans including the ones that have become their greatest shame, and is willing to travel to ''different'' worlds to save the Inspector's soul.

** Within their discipline, Fishers stand out for having their own system for gathering unlike Miner and Botanist who are basically carbon copies of each other, and the crafting classes mostly have all the same skills as well. The shift from class/job to role quests in ''Shadowbringers'' reflects this, with Fisher getting its own role quests no other job can do.

The shift from class/job to role quests in ''Shadowbringers'' reflects this, with Fisher getting its own role quests no other job can do. And unlike their fellow Gatherers, Fisher's off-hand, a spearfishing gig, is only used to activate the spearfishing minigame and has no stats and no upgraded or higher item level variations (somewhat frustratingly to many, this also means that Fisher will always be at a comparatively lower item level).

** This is reflected in the CGI trailers. In the original 1.0 trailer, the [=WoL=] was a short-haired and clean shaven young man, and by the time of the Calamity, his hair has grown out and he's become slightly taller. In the ''Heavensward'' trailer he switches from Warrior to Dragoon to emphasize the new relationship he has with Ishgard. The ''Stormblood'' trailer shows him first as a Monk with a new, shorter haircut, before switching him to Samurai and growing his hair out to ridiculous levels. The ''Shadowbringers'' trailer shows his hair growing out even more, his complexion darkening considerably, and developing a much more obvious beard as he switches to Dark Knight and later Paladin in ''Endwalker''. In the ''Dawntrail'' trailer, the Warrior has a more cleaned up appearance, having trimmed his stubble and tied his hair into a ponytail, while also appearing to be much more relaxed and cheerful than in previous trailers. This crosses over with ExpositoryHairstyleChange.

** Subverted regarding the [[TheFriendNobodyLikes Namazu]]. Due to an awful first impression courtesy of [[ConMan Gyodo]], the Warrior's first response to seeing a distressed Namazu at the edge of the Azim Steppe is to essentially go ScrewThisImOuttaHere until the Namazu chastises them for leaving him to his own devices. * HeroicWillpower:
** This is effectively what the "Echo" buff is; if the Warrior of Light gets beaten down, they get back up for another round, more determined than ever to triumph. For solo instances, this is an optional benefit if you select a lower difficulty after failing and beginning again; in group duties, it's automatically applied after a wipe, unless disabled for a pre-formed party.
** In ''Endwalker'', [[spoiler:the Warrior has their soul transferred to the body of a weak imperial soldier, while their own body gets appropriated by Zenos to attack the Ilsabard contingent. A straight-up fight with a tempered imperial is enough to wind the Warrior in this body, and while allying with some imperial citizens, they get surrounded by explosives that all go off at once. The Warrior proceeds to force themselves back to consciousness and ''crawl'' out of the city, catching up to Zenos at the last moment to drive off his avatar and protect their friends.]]

** For Disciples of the Hand, their current project is represented by a glowing ball of energy, with multiple possible conditions (which affect the efficiency of touch commands) represented by the color of the glow. The project always starts in "normal" condition, represented by a white glow. For most recipes, there is a 25% chance of the condition briefly improving to "good", represented by a red glow and providing a minor boost, for one step before reverting to normal, and an even slimmer 10% chance of the condition improving to "excellent", represented by a color-cycling glow and providing a significant boost, for one step before deteriorating to "poor", represented by a black hole with a purple glow and giving a reduction in efficiency, for the next step (the only way poor condition will be generated) before climbing back to normal. Expert Recipes keep the "normal" and "good" conditions, which now apply to the quality of the project and respectively indicate no change in action effectiveness and a 150% boost in quality, and exchange the other two for six others: "good omen", represented by an orange glow and guaranteeing "good" condition for the next step; "centered", represented by a yellow glow and giving a 25% increase to action success rate; "sturdy", represented by a cyan glow and giving a 50% reduction in loss of durability (stackable with Waste Not and Waste Not II); "malleable", represented by a blue glow and giving a 150% boost to progress; "pliant", represented by a green glow and providing a 50% reduction in CP cost; and "primed", represented by a purple glow and signifying that the next status granted by an action will last an additional two steps.

** On a more concentrated level with the Inspector Hildibrand questlines, the Warrior is about as stoic as they usually would be during ''A Realm Reborn'', or at least shocked and as confused as everyone else with the antics afoot. As the quests proceed through the expansions, however, they shed their OnlySaneMan status to gradually be ready and anticipate some of the more preposterous events, [[spoiler:even directly taking up Nashu's role in waking up Hildibrand with explosives in the First, or ''playing volleyball'' with a bomb.]] It reaches the point in 6.55 that, bereft of any better options, [[spoiler:Julyan tosses the Warrior her skillet -- and they [[BatterUp immediately take a batter's stance to smack more bombs aside]], effectively being as into the wackiness as the Mandervilles themselves at this point.]]

* DiscardAndDraw: Invoked in the CGI trailers, where the Meteor Survivor takes up a new job for each expansion. In gameplay, although it's no longer possible to take actions from one job and use them while in another job, you're never completely locked out of a job by taking up a new one, so it's more "Reshuffle and Draw".

** In the ''Dawntrail'' opening cinematic, the Warrior can be seen clashing with the towering Gulool Ja Ja. Even as he's tossed about by the Dawnservant's strength, the Warrior is wearing a huge grin the entire fight.

* JackOfAllTrades: The sheer number of roles the Warrior can take up over the course of their adventures is staggering. In addition to the ''twenty'' different forms of combat they can master as of ''Endwalker'', they can also be an expert miner, botanist, fisher, [[SupremeChef culinarian]], weaver, goldsmith, carpenter, leatherworker, armorer, blacksmith, and alchemist. At various points in the story or in sidequests they've also acted as an AcePilot, airship engineer, construction overseer, philanthropist, business advisor, postmoogle's assistant/professional letter carrier, schoolteacher, runway model, talent scout, business supervisor, race strategist, crime scene investigator, author, spokesperson, resistance fighter, saboteur, babysitter, impromptu wedding officiant, AmateurSleuth, artifact restorer, AdventurerArchaeologist, animal handler, research assistant, restaurant supplier, humanitarian aid worker, conservationist, sabotender hype man, {{Ambadassador}} between nations, people, and worlds, and [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking a fishmonger for a day]].

* ForWantOfANail:
** According to Urianger in ''Shadowbringers'', [[spoiler:their going to the First was literally the ''only'' thing that stopped the Empire from ending the war then and there with the Black Rose.]]
** The Dragonsong's Reprise features an alternate timeline scenario where the Warrior of Light [[spoiler:saves Haurchefant, but ends up making things worse; without Haurchefant's death to motivate them, the Warrior of Light stalls their chase of Archbishop Thordan and initially spares him when he begs for mercy, which bites Coerthas in the ass big time; the primal King Thordan uses the dual eyes of Nidhogg to enslave the ''entire Dravanian horde'', Nidhogg enslaves Hraesvelgr for a DualBoss battle on the Final Steps of Faith, and then Thordan consumes ''both'' wyrms' eyes to become Dragon-King Thordan. Of course, this is a WhatIf scenario presented by the [[QuirkyBard Wandering Minstrel]] who is prone to [[UnreliableNarrator exaggerating and fictionalizing the Warrior's tales to make a more compelling narrative]], but it casts a dark light on the Warrior of Light's character, suggesting that Hauchefant's death was a NecessaryEvil for the Warrior to lead the world to salvation.]]

*** Taken even further in the final area of ''Endwalker'', Ultima Thule. [[spoiler:Ultima Thule is a realm on the very edge of the universe fully controlled by dynamis Energy. Added DiffLines:

* OnlySaneMan: Their SilentSnarker and HeroicMime tendencies usually cause the Warrior to come off as much more grounded and level-headed than their companions. This trait of their personality is increasingly downplayed after ''A Realm Reborn'', when the player is given more frequent, emotive dialogue options. They also tend to split this role with Briardien during the Hildibrand Adventures questline.
